    Ahsoka Review of the latest Star Wars series on Disney+. Ahsoka Tano was previously an animated Disney Star Wars character on Star Wars Clone wars and Rebels, now in live action searching for Thrawn. But Series 1 episode 1 was slow, with lots of staring at people, walking down corridors, solving puzzles in silence for multiple minutes. It really felt like we were dragging it out for time reasons which is never a good reason to do so. But after we find a golden map sphere we travel the universe to look for the important information "No-one makes a lock without a key". Sabine coming in useful for Ahsoka already. If this is episode 1, I have no idea how far we'll sink before the finale! But did you think of what you saw? Let me know your thoughts down below and as always, thanks for watching :)

      At this point I was actually kind of hoping it would be bad, and easy to rag on, and... I got exactly what I hoped for. Suck worse than I ever could have imagined it was going to, given the stakes for the Disney corporation at this point. I thought they would at least try to dress it up a little differently than all that shit they've thrown our way so far but no, if anything it's almost like they tried to make it bad, as if daring have to criticize it, so they could call us sexist when we do... sadly for them, they've numbed most ppl to all that disingenious name-calling - we see it for what it is and it's not going to stop us, hell, it's not even going to slow us. TALK THAT SHIT. Star Wars fan4life and legends are forever, but Disney and its version of SW sucks. ✌🐸

    So, an ancient temple, contains a (seemingly) ancient map showing the whereabouts of Thrawn. So many questions. Does Thrawn always stay in the same place? How long ago was the map hidden in the temple? And why!? Why would someone make a map to Thrawn and hide it in an ancient temple? It's such a weird plot device in this situation.

      Yeah I’d rather them practice the choreography for months and months (as they did in the prequels) than just seemingly wing it when they go to film it. I mean it’s just bad… the lightsaber fights used to be a big deal, but Disney just thinks “twirly colours look nice”

      The prequels one are bad because they don't focus on the story and character like the OT but just on meaningless spectacle, at least the force awakens one tried to be like the OT, even if how it ended kinda ruined it, by kylo Ren get beaten by Rey which deny her a possibly decent character arc or something

    • @lumeronswift
      @lumeronswift Год назад +12

      @@Spillow-CUh... did you even watch them? There was some spectacle, but that was part of the point of the story. People usually blab on about how the prequels were all politics and talking, so I'll give you points for at least taking a different angle.
      The sequels (including TFA) were purely spectacle for spectacle's sake, with no logical connections between them... which is neither like the prequels nor the originals.

    • @Spillow-C
      @Spillow-C Год назад +2

      And kylo Ren in better than both Darth maul, count dooku and grievous, which all of them just exists to put hyper choreographed lightsaber duels with no story in it, kylo ren in foce awakens was more than that, we get to know him in the movie, he kills his father and stuff, and then the last duels has a decent amount of drama and emotion behind it, and the choreo is more like the OT, it fells more real and not cartoon crap, it's not just spectacle like the prequels.

      The one with RDJ, the first movie was criticized for doing that, where we see Sherlock Holmes is noticing things about the crime scenes or situations at hand, but we don't get an explanation in the moment. He explains his deductions at the end, but most of the movie we're left in the dark with what exactly he was following. The sequel rectified that and we could follow along.

    He sadly missed the fact that the droid who steals the map-ball runs into an elevator. Sabine then runs back into her cabin to grab....her lightsaber? When watching I thought she would get the jet pack, fly down to the bottom of the tower and intercept the droid. Instead she gets the saber, and presumably waits for the elevator to come back up and then takes it down. And none of this explains why she needs the lightsaber. At this point all she knows is that it's a couple of droids that she could easily shoot. There is only one reason why she takes the saber and that''s so they can have a fight at the base of the tower.

    I'm pretty sure the rotating sections on that ball overlap, turning each one turns parts of the other two. It's a lot like a rubix' cube puzzle. There's going to be a lot more than 125 possibilities, possibly thousands of possibilities.
    Even if it is only a few turns away from being solved, it would be nigh impossible to solve without knowing what the solved state looks like. I think that's what the icons Sabine was looking at were supposed to represent.
    Instead of having her just stare at it, they could have had her turning the sides, figuring out that they move, but unsure how to "solve" the puzzle, until she notices the icons on it match the icons from the crypt it was in. It's the perfect opportunity for a montage, showing her twisting it, turning it, and getting nowhere, for hours on end. Of course, that would have required the writers to actually think, so instead we get staring and "three", and it's solved in 2.5 turns with no explanation.

    • @BayWa4eva
      @BayWa4eva Год назад +2

      the ball has 20 triangles that can move to any spot, that alone is 20! possibilities, a number with more than 15 digits. then there are additional independent pieces in between, 30, which might or might not be important as well.
      and then there is rotation - each triangle has 3 possible rotations and each filler has 2. you can rotate a triangle in place in 2 moves, a filler in 3.
      this puzzle might have up to 20! * 30! * 3 ^ 20 * 2 ^ 30 solutions, which is a gigantic number. so much so that you need a map with a specific starting constellation for this map and randomly turning circles might render it unsolvable.
      edit: i didn't count the five-pointed stars in the centre of the circles which can't move but still rotate to 5 positions and theres 12 of those, possibly adding a factor of 5 ^ 12 to the number of combinations....

      The whole Sabine figuring out the map is disgustingly lazy... It was basically Sherlock Holmes looking at a crime with the writer giving us any clue to follow and then just saying he did it and he was correct because the perp said you got me rather than calling his bluff...
      No explanation of what is going on, how she got to the answer, where she got the answer from, what the answer means and a story, theme and symbolism behind the puzzle and answer...
      We didn't follow her as she solved this plot inciting puzzle and decide for ourselves how smart she is through how difficult the puzzle was... The writer just came out and said she's smart, citation, just trust me bro... See how smart she is as she solves this nigh impossible puzzle that even the audience couldn't solve (because we were never even given a puzzle to solve not to mention a clue, we just had a prop to stare at, we didn't even know what the fuck we were looking at), and that's because she's galaxy brained...
      This is just laziness at it's peak... This ahows that the writer isn't only bad at writing and extremely lazy but they're dead dumb, and that's not even an insult, that's a diagnosis... Because even dumb stories like Gotham knights have us follow their puzzles but they are extremely simple, obvious and stupid so the writer makes everyone in the story stupider to make their big brained seem smart by solving it... But at least, we get to follow them as they solve it... We see their workings even if their workings are wrong and shouldn't lead to the answer or relies on luck to reach the answer or break the universe to reach the answer, we get to follow their thought process...
      This lazy unintelligent wtiter couldn't even think of a puzzle for us to follow... This is basically a game that is all cutscenes with the game finally giving us control after the final mission as been cleared... It's more than cheating... It's a lie...

    Also, the tentacles of both Ahsoka and Hera are about half as long as they should be. But the actresses didn't want heavy head dresses, so consistency has no room to stay.
    Also also, who keeps making these stupid maps and puzzles? They have no reason to exist in universe! Is Disney unable to start a story any other way nowadays?

      I get the feeling some of the dumbing down is done as an effort to devalue LucasFilm as much as possible, to make it easier to buy. There aren't just idiots working there, same goes for Disney, and so much is being ruined to such a level that not even idiots or woke mutations could be responsible alone. I hope I am correct about this, that people within are doing all they can to completely sink the value of Disney and all it's holdings so it's cheaper to buy it out, piecemeal or in it's entirety.
      If so, and LucasFIlm is just bought away from Disney, maybe someone with actual passion can work to fix Star Wars. Maybe. But this is mostly me theorizing and hoping - likely entirely in vain.

This is horrible to look at I'm getting bored just starting to read it... If disparu wasn't talking I would have slept as I stand whilst smoking...
      I thought the title designs are getting ugly, bland, disgusting and disproportional with no story behind them in modern Hollywood and the banners are getting to cluttered and busy and generic... But my god, I had no idea it could get this bad... This is just wrong to look at...
      Disparu might think he's joking but he has no idea how correct he is when he said it looks a kid's ppt presentation which he began a couple of hours before the presentation... It's so depressing to look at and if you don't want to get suicidal, don't look at this whilst thinking of how much the budget of the show was... Even a million dollar budget shouldn't warrant this...
      This is what happens when you start hiring with quotas not merit... The first person to tick the box gets hired immediately to fill the quota in time even though there's someone that also ticks the same box and is better out there that could do a million times better... This looks like the work of a diversity hire through nepotism and not random interview because connection is the only reason no one could reject this immediately...

      The whole Sabine figuring out the map is disgustingly lazy... It was basically Sherlock Holmes looking at a crime with the writer not giving us any clue to follow and then just saying he did it and he was correct because the perp said you got me rather than calling his bluff...

    Hey Disparu, easiest way to ruin Disney Star Wars lightsaber fights: Notice that they always just swing at each others’ lightsabers, instead of aiming for their opponents. It’s like children smacking swords. Every fight, the momentum, the aim, the strikes, it’s all CLEARLY aimed at the other’s lightsaber.

    • @Imhotep-Still-Juicy
      @Imhotep-Still-Juicy Год назад +1

      Yes indeed. When I dabbled in screen combat courses, we were specifically instructed to aim as though to strike the opponents neck, not meet their sword out in the middle. It’s the opponents job to do a proper block. In other words, proper fight choreography. Most lightsaber fights I see are exactly what you said, like kids playing with sticks meeting safely in the middle.

      There's also a noticeable lack of footwork. I also noticed that Ahsoka used her lightsabers as if it was one entity most of the time, so the left and right sabers would be swung in the same direction instead of taking advantage of the fact that she can strike in different places at the same time.
      Another issue is in the Sabine vs Shin Hati fight, when Sabine is bending backwards using one hand to hold her lightsaber against Hati's and another to hold herself up, bcos at that point Shin Hati could just kick her or step on her knee or something.

    The problem lay in the portrayal of the now modern archetype of 'girl-boss' / “strong female character” and other representative tokenism / superficiality of modernity.
    As such, the aforementioned modern protagonist must demonstrate confidence, composure and capability regardless of circumstance. The portrayal is often grounded in how successful female CEOs, producers, showrunners and actors view themselves, or wish to view themselves.
    However, most of the public are not moved by the same sentiment.
    Story telling is as old as humanity and as a species we've historically identified with stories that reflect the human condition - Struggle, suffering, conflict, growth, perseverance, hope and aspiration .. preferably overcoming / victory. For millennia, humans have lost themselves in stories of old, of flawed heroes overcoming insurmountable obstacles.
    Protagonists didn’t need to be a certain sex, gender, pigmented / racial stereo-type to engage the audience .. finding audience connection through superficial identification / “reflecting modern audiences”. The protagonist just needed to reflect the human experience within an engaging narrative. Unfortunately, the art of story-telling has been sacrificed upon the alter of modern politics.

      @@strategicperson95 It's quite simple, they don't have any writers that know how to write a suspenseful war/combat/action scenes.
      One of the key points that they don't understand at all is this: The more competent the enemies, the greater the protagonists appear, even if the protagonists invariably succeed. Strong villains make for better heroes.
      In Disney Star Wars the enemies look completely incompetent to the point where they're literally subhuman. The audience is led to the conclusion that any average untrained person (from the real world, or from Star Wars) can pick up a blaster/gun and easily outshoot a platoon of Disney Stormtroopers. Their performance in every respect is so poor, they're literally below average human capability; in essence, they're literally disabled people in white armor.
      The cartoonishly poor security protocols and procedures go hand-in-hand with this, suggesting the entire faction consists of people with below average mental and physical capabilities.
      So the heroes don't look like exceptionally well-trained and capable combatants, but rather, average people defeating a mob of "bad guys" with severe disabilities.

Miraculously saved by Ahsoka (and medical droids) Yet... somehow it's not 100% Sabine's fault? Hollywood writing is so backwards. The only reason you do death fake out is to make the audience worry for a character they have been following... It's like worrying that you might spill the paint at the ending of a 2 days painting... It's dumb to be that cautious at the start when the canvas is still blank...
      So why the fuck are we getting this garbage fake out at the freaking first episode??? Why would we care about this person when we haven't even followed her character for that long??? We'll just think she's an extra and if she survives, it just kills the stakes of the story except they willing to give her a permanent damage from it or at least a debilitating one that she carries through the show which highly doubt that would happen... Why the fuck would you put this in your first episode???
      This is why I said they are hacks... They have no clue how to write and they think writing is just about writing down what ever pops into your head because they like most people mistook what "art is subjective" and "write what you know" was actually referring to and they their applies to everything writing and art and now they think they are writers just because they have a hand... It's as if Indiana Jones found a Naz1 map in some ancient sarcophagus. And how the hell is it even possible to make a map to a person? Who made it? Why? Is Thrawn staying in the same place at all times? Who learned about Thrawns whereabouts? Why did they hide the map in the first place? So many questions and I bet the show will answer none of them. You either want the information is the hands of a select people, or you don't want people to find the thing at all, so why the fuck did you make a map in the first place? And if this information is really important, why is it in a hidden map and not just encrypted in an archive the people you want to find it have access to with the encryption key? There is so much retarded bullshit involved in the mere existence of these maps that just gets glossed over.
      Why? Why is he location of an important person hidden in the middle of bumfuck nowhere AND encrypted? Why is this information not in the hands of imperial sympathizers or simply deleted to keep hidden? Why does the macguffin exist at all?
