Because you explain so many things in detail those build vids are so cool because you will understand how to tweak those builds for your own playstyle. For example i could never play GS without Blitz stratagem and abusing it. :D
This is the build that brings my party together. Sadly, Pascal has been benched. Jae the skill monkey from hell can do his checks, and having 3 officer grand strategists allows control of the opening battle, with enough buffs and debuffs. Tank Abelard runs forward and shouts a lot while Argenta the pocket Astartes wrecks all the things. Thanks for these builds, cPBRO! They are really well presented.
Just picked up rogue trader and created the old build a few days ago. I didn’t get to play much past character creation but now am excited that there is an updated build and I didn’t get too invested. Thank you!
It would be cool to see the Commissar Officer as thematically interesting. In addition, not everyone wants to play a psyker as the main character. Otherwise, great video, looking forward to more.
+1. I totally agree. The canonical Commissioner's build should be a person of the Officer class. For me, an aristocrat is not associated with military specialties in any way. And even more so a psyker who is just already tired - all builds are only with a psyker. I don't care that he's powerful, not everyone wants to play for magicians.
Just wanted to say, your builds have suddenly made the game enjoyable for me. I suck at theorycrafting, and I dont have the time to play through all the different possibilities, so those vids are super useful. I don't follow them 100%, but there's no need, the general direction of the builds is enough to make the game easy.
I can confirm this build absolutely works, specially with Dogmatic, getting Eyes of Joyeuse and the Fanactic ability. Just finished with this team comp, and Nokhal's Compendium of Good Builds from Steam, with slight deviations. Cassia, Jae (fellowship skill monkey), Argenta, Pasqal and Heinrix. Heinrix isn't a must, but it helps having another psyker with Sanctic Powers increasing resolve and buffing, while also being able to parry tank and return the hits. If a fight drags too long (it never did), he can dump extra momentum and improve his blade. RT and Cassia always act first, and you get a LOT of extra turns, so I recommend using Bring it Down on JAE to buff either Pasqal or Argenta (+damage, +master tact stacks on Jae), and then using it on your Carry. Depending on the fight, I'd pick Argenta or Pasqal. Lots of spread out mobs, or a single line of fire? Argenta. Spread out high HP mobs with higher armour? Pasqal.
Hey crpg bro i wanted to thank you for all these guides without you i wouldn't have been able to finish this game (and pathfinder too). Btw are you gonna update the rest of the companions?
This build generates alot of Resolve very quickly into turn one, but I am surprised you are not utilizing the Litany of Empyrean Fury trinket item from Drussian reputation vendor, I believe. It can be equipped on any character with Dogmatic 4, but benefits any Psyker or Navigator in your party whenever they use their Psyker/Navigator abilities, and deals DIRECT (unmitigated) damage to ALL enemies in battle everytime one of those abilities is used. Depending on how far you lean into the item you can clear the map before they even act with as little as 2 AP from an Officer assist and Spirit Drape. Dogmatic 4 would usually be hard to get, but Kibellah can easily attain this conviction via her quest chain, if you went the right route for it.
I realize it's quite the OP item, I just don't use it because my character usually goes Iconoclast 😅 so not enough Aligment points for it. Indeed thankfully we have Kibellah now as an alternative! But I often go with Abelard for the melee role.
Recently returned to the game (never finished act1) going for psyker melee frontliner. Sanctic - warrior - Vanguard. (NO PYRO!) as i found the officer playstyle boring. Using your entire turn to (almost) just cast buffs. I know we control all so it should not matter as much, but it's just personal preference in how to use the characters (and use something else than officer stacking) 😅 Planning to use Heinrix as a buff stick from biomancy moreso than a frontliner (will get into the grinder as well) so I can focus more on getting into the face of enemies and cleave them down with force swords and psychic powers
For the next MC build, may you do a melee focused one? Maybe one thats themed around the heretic path because of the cool sword they get at the end game.
According to the latest builds, it turns out that there are 3 grand strategists in the squad? What for? The main character is a noble officer, Cassia and Pasqal.
