I'm having fun messing around with the 10 S guitar I won. I'm not noticing any fret buzz. Tomorrow I'm going to throw on a fresh pack of D'Addario EXL 110 10/46 light gauge strings. I'll polish the frets Trogly style and condition the fret board.
I dont like that. At all. Ugly. Schecter makes quality stuff and yes that back is gorgeous lol. Its beautifully done but still ugly lol.
Tippytail McKitty Congrats on the win!
How was the pickup height? Maybe because they are such low power they would benefit from being closer to the strings.
It’s pronounced: “Cah-BrO-Nee-Ta” like if you’re literally saying the letter O.
Not cah bruh nee tah 👨🏼💼
I have limited experience with Schecters, but so far those get from me nothing but praise. You get more than you pay.
I swear by my Schecter Demon 6 , it sounds and plays unbelievable with active pickups it's a metal beast!
I’ve got LP’s, strats and various others. I have to say that my Shecter plays very well.
Schecter have always beaten my Epiphones, came in on par with my Fender Mexico made and haven't been too far off from my American Fender and Gibson Models.
Brandon Fairchild Shecters are really good guitars for sure.
Brandon Fairchild lol bro, schecter has USA made custom models that are 3.7k in price aand are WAAAAY above gibson us, we are talking about mayones, caparison level, really top tier guitar...
The import schecters have always been a great bang for your buck
I know their basses are superb!
For the cash, Schecter are superior to the Fender/Squier equivalent, and I like the sound from those pups.
You're probably right in the import line. Tbh thoygh it depends on what you want. Not everyone wants tall shredder frets.
USA to USA you could mod up a Fender to Schecter or better.
Tbh for bolt ons, if you have assembly skill, a Warmoth would spec out way better for the money.
@@kampfkustomer2343 Well, a Warmoth could very well spec out better, for the same dough, as a Schecter.
But it's only gonna be as good as the person putting it together. I've tried some real hack jobs put together from top quality kits, and conversely, I've tried some great instruments put together from cheapo kits.... when it comes to kits it's all down to the skills of the one putting it together.
You buy a Schecter and it's all done for you.
I've seen some really nice teles put together from Warmoth gear, on YT.
@@kampfkustomer2343
This is one of the nicest looking and sounding Teles I've seen put together using Warmoth bodies. The guy plays it towards the end of the video. A really nice instrument.
ruclips.net/video/pVC0GejXkwU/видео.html
@@kampfkustomer2343 If your luck it might sound as good no fender could ever sound as pristine in tone as a sch3cter.
The PT in the model name is a throwback to the 80's when Pete Townshend used Schecter T-style guitars.
That was the very first time I had heard of Schecter, too! A friend of mine has a recent Schecter Tele that looks very much like Pete's :-)
@Somebresome www.thewho.net/whotabs/gear/guitar/schecter.html
Somebresome The Cure uses Schecter guitars. Robert Smith has his own signature series too.
Somebresome Schecter has been around since the 80’s! They started as a parts company similar to Warmoth. The PT was their first production model.
Somebresome, Schecter was founded in 1976 by David Schecter.
Dude those pickups are badass sounding with distortion. They sound super clear and articulate not muddy to me
Agreed. For whatever reason, nearly every time I like the tones in his demos, Austin follows up by saying he didn't like the guitar's tones. I'm not sure what he looks for to be honest lol.
Yeah. I think that these would be marvellous pickups for, say, a classic gain Marshall tone, e.g., clean channel on a DSL pushed just beyond breakup. Chords would be huge, fat and detailed on the neck and middle position.
@@muinarc0 He's looking for a Gibson :)
@@muinarc0 Tone is personal.
@@muinarc0 He likes Gibsons. I have never played a Gibson I liked, and that includes the 333 I bought. I know, but it looked so lovely and was so cheap.... I think if you like cleans you will probably like the Schecter, if you like mud, not so much.
I’ve ordered a PT Special from Sweetwater. It’s back ordered but I’m super stoked to dip my toes in the T-stye guitars. These reviews are great! Thank you
Natathaniel Linville I have one! It's great! For what I paid. I ordered it right at the beginning of the pandemic and it took more than three months to get, there was a three week waiting list to start but you know. I went with black because the wait for the burst was even longer.
Hey man I have the three color Burst version of the PT SPECIAL and it's an absolute gem of a guitar. The build quality is excellent. No flaws anywhere to be found. The pickups are very much to my liking. The neck is a work of art. It makes playing a very nice experience. I really believe you're going to enjoy owning your PT SPECIAL. I got mine through zZounds in July and taking 8 months to pay for it. I also have a couple of Schecter's C6's . A white deluxe and an Elite in the Aquaburst. Both are Schecter's low rung price wise (the Deluxe costed $300 and the Elite $229. I got it on sale at Musician's Friend.) So far Schecter is 3 for 3 on excellent guitars for me. I hope you get a gem as well and enjoy it's sweet tones an playability.
I have to say I admire the absolute honesty of this channel. Whether it's something you're selling, and pointing out every single thing about it, or in this case, a dead honest review, one of my favorite channels to watch.
I remember Phillip McKnight, when reviewing import guitar brands, said that while Schecter is made in the same Indonesian factories as many others, their quality control is infinitely better than any of the other imports.
Nice guitar!
Schecter become my favorite guitar brand. I have a Sweetwater exclusive C1 with the Aquaburst finish, ebony board, Sustainiac with a Seymour Duncan Full Shred and a real Floyd Rose. It is flawless in every respect. I then got a custom shop California and between the two, I can do anything. Both were such great value. I would buy this to complete the Trinity!
Agreed! Very well made for the price points. I would get a semi hollow offering with a bigsby.
“Everybody’s doing each other here!”- Trogly, 2020 😂
like 1969 all over again
Oh man, I've been eyeballing this exact model as my next guitar for the past couple of months. I think I'm gonna have to grab this guitar after I move one to make room. Thanks for the review, Trogly! Awesome as always!
Schecter's fame shot to the top with Telecaster designs. Just before the Who went in to their first "retirement" in the early 1980s, Pete Townshend used several Schecter Tele style guitars. Coming from a core Les Paul user like Townshend, that spoke volumes.
Gotta love on the schecter. I bought a new one a year or so ago. Mine has the Floyd rose and I found them to be very well made and sound awesome.
The Schecter USA Custom Shop guitars are amazing!
Their Korean made are probably the best bang for your buck out there.
@@guitarocd9984 Absolutely , I have a couple fit finish incredible .And the quality control is something most American companies could take a few lessons from.
The Van Nuys era made Schecters !
I own one and like it a lot, especially for the price. The wood and paint are really nice, but not perfect. Mine had two rough spots on the back of the neck, a divot almost rotted looking spot on the fretboard, a small area of chipped wood and paint at the neck joint, and the bridge was set too high from the factory despite it saying that it was set up to play. I addressed it with them through email and never got a response.
That's all they were at one time.
You know it’s a good guitar when it sounds amazing with Trogly playing it. Usually your audio set up sounds thin but this sounded full bodied. If you made mic/audio interface adjustments keep them. Thanks for the showing!
The binding looks great on that neck. It just makes the whole guitar pop.
I'm a beginner, so I appreciate your thoroughness! Helps me learn when the details are explained! Thanks for the time spent making these videos! I follow a few, hoping to play as well as you all do. 🎶🎸👍
I've just never been a fan of a guitar with four knobs like that (especially a tele) but that is one awesome-looking guitar! That top color is gorgeous!
Dude, those were some of the best tones I have heard on this channel. Would be excellent in a mix with a band.
You are the Mr Roger's of guitar. I love listening to you talk. Great review. I'm a Schecter convert.
Schecters Korean made guitars are astounding for the money you get a guitar that rivals American made guitar costing 3xs as much their QC fit and finish is superb and the fretwork is second to none.
Dang I'm so impressed that sounds so good
Hot shizzle! I agree 200%. Best sounding guitar on this show.
I have this exact model (and 4 other Schecters, including another PT fastback, a 1st gen Ultra iii, a TSH-1, and a TSH-12). I also have a lot of Fenders to compare to. Honestly, I LOVE it! What I love about these is the playability: even as I'm not into the metal-style guitars, they have certainly brought in some of the benefits of such guitars into their retro series. I appreciate the coil taps in this series and for sure the lower output pickups! (Hotter output pups are not for everyone) Have a few TV Jones classics laying around though and tempted to try a couple of them in here. Of course manufactured guitars will have slight imperfections and as in all consumer industries I allow for that slight margin of error. I understand the subjectivity - everyone has different likes, needs, and styles. I am glad that you reviewed this and congrats on a beautiful twin to mine, but I will humbly disagree with your conclusion on this fab model - and that's okay.
Other guitar reviewers: spends 90% of the video doing sound demo
Trogly: "Let's call the next version the decepticons!"
You don’t watch a trogly review just for the sound demo
Too bad trog missed the joke lol shoulda been "deciptitrons" lol
Trogly taking apart a brand new guitar is amazing for me. Then i don't have to do it to check the specs!
I like full disclosure, Austin. Every channel should do this.
Trogly's in the HOUSE!!!
These guys are killing it at the moment .. their guitar reviews are solid everywhere. Agufish, Guitarmax, PhilMcknight.. haven’t seen a bad one
Check out their big white electric 12 string. Looks like a monster Gretsch!
My favorite detail of the PT line is that they started as Pete Townshend's signature tele with Schecter back in the 80's. That headstock is all the way back to that 80's model.
That mahogany back is beautiful, big fan of it. If only my local music store had it for me to try it, looks like it plays great.
Bought two Schecters from Sweetwater they both far exceeded my expectations.
They should do one all mahogany. That's some pretty wood.
In the same boat; doesn't seem to be in stock anywhere. :(
12" radius and jumbo frets still kinda leads towards shreddly. Still beautiful and well done. A Tele with body contours is a dream come true!
I bought the white PT Fastback several months ago. It's my favorite guitar! I have several really nice axes, but this one is just perfect for my playing style. The Diamond Ultratrons have this tone that I can't get enough of!
I bought a Schecter C1-EA years ago and fell in love with it. With piezzo pickups built in it came with a cord that split so you could plug it into two amps at the same time. One acoustic and one electric. I dug it so much I tried to buy a second one, only to find I couldn't fine a new one anywhere. I got ahold of the factory and was told PRS bought the design and patent. So, if I want another one new, I have to pay about 6 times as much now to get it. And it's beautiful! Both the Schecter and the PRS guitars. If you ever get a chance to revue one, go for it!
Best thing about these guys is they offer very solid guitars and support left handed players i love my omen. Schector rock.
Beautiful. Schecter makes great guitars. Most have a 14" radius neck, but feels like a 12" radius. What a great sound too. Thx Trog.
Loving that guitar. And the little bit of Fly Away in the sound demo
Earlier this year I wanted to add a Les Paul-style guitar to my small collection, so I tried and researched quite a few males and models. I ended up with a Schecter Solo ii Custom in black satin finish and WOW. I love it!!
I like the maple neck and the head stock. So, to each his own.
Thumb and body contours are amazing. Gorgeous finish.
I really like their way of developing new models by mixing and matching all the coolest features of "classic" models
I want to try one out badly
I've got a soft spot for schecter. My diamond series deluxe was my first upgrade from my crappy strat knockoff that I first started learning guitar with, and for a $400 guitar, it's amazing. Very beautiful blue flame finish, no scuffs or marks from the factory, frets and binding are perfect, neck is the perfect thickness to my liking, and the duncan designed humbuckers sound great for what they are. Would definitely choose a schecter over an epiphone or somethin.
The first electric guitar I ever bought was a Schecter Tempest similar to this. It had the same gold coat, binding, and back. It was a great guitar. So great, I traded for a Squire Vin Mod Jag. One year later I found the rereleased the Tempest as a semi hollowbody (which i like tonally) with bigsby tailpiece. I actually like the pickups in that guitar, they are the same as the ones here. They go well with my particualer pedals arrangement. I do really miss that side and backing as my current one is that flat dark green.
You really can't beat the price on these considering everything you get. You can totally mod these into more of a beast. Perfect mid-level guitar with an amazing foundation for mods.
I never thought I'd like Schecter to be honest but that green and black one with the bigsby, I want it.
I agree about that first fret inlay on your one.
Sounded pretty nice to me. One of the best sounding demos actually!
I can literally watch these anywhere. Keep it up trogz
What a striking color combination! Totally agree on your thoughts on the neck color.
A lot of great stuff seems to be coming out of Indonesian factories (including my beloved Ibanez). And Schecter has been absolutely crushing it on all fronts. Mad respect. I do love those thin necks.
I own the white one that came out and it’s great! I had never played any filtertron like pickups but I really like how they sound. I totally think if you’re looking for a T-style guitar check it out for sure. The PT Fastback has come out with several different pickup configurations so I think you could find one you like.
Really like the tones on it. Nice job Schecter!
I almost ordered my Hellraiser through the new guitar program since im in ohio too in hopes I could watch you review it. I think if I buy a Schecter Tempest ill reach out and see if its up your alley of interest.
I just bought a PRS se 24 Custom after seriously looking at Schecter, I think it will definitely be my next guitar. Great sounding, nice looking guitar ! 👍
Love that you played kavitz as a demo. Love this guitar.
I was never all that aware of Schecter, but a good friend, former bandmates, swore by them. I played a couple of them and was impressed. They are very consistent with good to very good to great quality. I build guitars and basses, but I LOVE my JL-7, Jeff Loomis signature model, from the last year he was with Schecter. The fretwork on my JL-7 is as good as $5000+ guitars, but this one was built in South Korea and was set up in California.
Lol man, jeff loomis has a schecter signature model that costs around 3.7k tho, schecter do have high high end guitars
Schecter is as old as can be.
Looks like a great package.
This is a beautiful guitar.
Pick ups are subjective.
I like all the player mods, the two carves the finish, looks like it's punching above it's weight.
I agree, that side profile looks great. Beautiful back.
Holy cow that's sweet..you deserve it brother for all your hard work
I agree, the headstock left a little to be desired and I didn't know that they made traditional looking guitars. I don't own any Schecter's but I might have to change that. I think they make some of the best looking guitars on the market today and the prices are great.
I watched your video and I’ve always wanted a Schecter telecaster. Sooooo, I just bought this one off of Reverb tonight from you. I’m hoping it’s as awesome as it was on your video. And it’s kinda cool that I have the same guitar that you reviewed. Cheers.
I like the looks(headstock too) of this guitar and the specs….very nice!
This is what I like to see! More Schecters!
My first nice guitar was a blackjack sls solo 6 schector will always hold a special place in my heart and they definitely punch above their cost category
I can personally say that that emerald green Schecter PT Fastback ii B he saw on the website is my favorite guitar that I own. It sounds and feels wonderful, the craftsmanship that went into it is apparent, and it can get surprisingly quacky for a coil-split humbucker
Have a few schecters and love them all. An E1 Evil Twin, Nick Johnston diamond series, and a super shredder frs. All play as nice as my fenders and Gibson.
Schecter makes absolutely quality Guitars! When you pick one up you instantly can tell there well built !
I bought a Schecter E/A Solo 6, one of the nicest guitars I own. I love the fit and finish. Such a pretty guitar. I think that bang for the buck while retaining playability, Schecter is very hard to beat.
That Schecter is a gorgeous guitar!
Schecter makes great quality and affordable guitars... I remember them back in the early 80s... guitar parts, bodies and brass...I think they really got the guitar market attention when Pete Townshend began using one of their Telecaster style guitars during the Who's Farewell Tour 1982 (various live videos for the song "Eminence Front" show him playing Schecter- later that Schecter tele would known as the PT model).. I wouldn't mind getting a Al Jourgensen (MINISTRY) Signature Triton. It's a wild looking Flying V style guitar.... keep the great videos coming.
I've got an old 70's Schecter PT Van Nuys Telecaster. Weighs a ton but I love it! Brass hardware too
I thought it sounded great in the tone department. Especially the split coil bridge sound. been thinking of a schecter for my next guitar buy. Austin you didn't talk me into and didn't talk me out of it either. Nice review.
Love Schecters! Have 2 Schecter basses (004 and Omen) and a Damien B2 FR and love them to bits!
I personally like the headstock. It's still really classic looking.
I just searched to see if you had any Schecter videos and 💥 . Come on, you made this for me didn't you? Thank you.
Is basically a learner guitar, my first electric was very similar, my kids were lucky, I have a big collection of Gibson's and fenders that they learnt on, I gave my first electric to the young boy next door when l bought a 68 sg custom, still have it, thanks for informative blogs, love your channel
One of the most iconic strat Mark Knopfler had was a metal-lic red Schecter Dream Machine, back in 70's. No fretboard inlays with a figured maple. Beautiful guitar! This may help disassociate them with a metal niche.
Wow Austin... your riffs sound great!!
Personally, I like the headstock shape. It’s classy to me. As far as the rest of the guitar goes, it appears to be a great guitar.
Yeah I don’t see why he doesn’t like it I think it looks way nicer than over headstocks and looks way nicer than fender tele headstocks
Much better than G&L haha
Like many others have posted, I own some pretty decent guitars. I have yet to play a schecter I didn’t like. They make really nice guitars at a super reasonable price. I thought this guitar sounded pretty good?! Sounded a lot better than some other guitars you’ve played. I wouldn’t go out of my way to buy these type of pickups. But it sounded pretty damn good to me.
Thanks for the review.
Regardless of price, that's a nice guitar. You can't even come close to the quality of a Schecter guitar for the price. I've know a few people with different models of Schecters and they are always happy with them. Unlike other guitars, when they come back from Korea, or wherever, they are then QCed again at Schecter here in the States before being sent out. There are so many different models and styles that there is something for everyone. I have met some of the guys from Schecter years ago, and I know people who are friends with the Schecter guys in the area, and the word is that they are really good guys. I have had my eye on a red Ultra III for a while and will have to find one somewhere to check one out once all this mess is over.
Really nice looking guitar!!! I've played one before and I would definitely take one home! I think I enjoyed the single coil version a little bit better.
Love my schecters. THey were a pleasant surprise to find a few years back.
Pretty nice guitar. It's the nicest one I've seen from them, as I don't really dig their main style. They are doing a good job capturing the old school vibe instruments. Nice video Trog.
The guitarist from my favorite band, The Adicts has a PT fastback II as signature guitar. It's the"Fastback Pete Dee signature" comes in black with a mirrored pick guard with logos on the knobs and fretboard. I don't normally want to buy signature guitars but that one is a must for me.
I played a red Ultra III last winter before Covid shut everything down. Three Filtertrons and a Bigsby. So sweet!
I have owned two Schecter's over the years and they were both excellent guitars. I would definitely own another one if the right one came along. Without hesitation
"Everybody is doing each other here"
Perfect!
Beautiful back wood! the metallic gold looks flawless..
Never considered a Schecter but this got me to their website. Nice!
The distorted tone sounded great
Best feature I like about Schecter hardshell cases: they are stackable like lego blocks. But you have to have more than one case to see it🎸
Pete Townsend played Schecter guitars in the eighties when they were mostly parts suppliers and customisers. Good enough for me and I love this one.
I really like the fact that you are featuring guitars other than fender and Gibson
As always, great job!
Good solid review. I think you are right on the pickups especially. I was thinking the lower output might create a more mellow sound but instead it's just a little dull. Hotter pickups would likely be a good improvement. That said, I think this guitar would probably be really good for playing things like Dire Straights. It might also be a good base for a jazz player as well, it's a mellow sounding instrument overall. Oh, and good on you by the way for not glossing over these things in what is essentially a paid review. Hopefully the company will take your comments to heart and work to make 2021s even better than these already really nice looking instruments.
Older schecter USA PT’s were really nice.... havnt played a new one...
Nice looking guitar. Didn't know Schecter made anything classic looking like that...
I bought a used Schecter Apocalypse 5 string bass (beautiful instrument) and ordered the hard shell case for it - just like the one you have there, with the blue interior and it is form-fit.
This $600 dlls indonesian Made has more QC than a American Gibson Les Paul 😒
Ulises Velasquez Keep in mind, they sent him this guitar for the purpose of him reviewing it. It’s unlikely they would send out just any example. (Not dissing Schecter, just thinking about it from a company’s perspective.)
@@ZaneDalton im not convinced. my two Indonesian made Ibanez guitars are phenomenal and every Indonesian made guitar i have held was top notch
@@puppetmaster532 Manufacturing has just gotten better in more places. Thanks to that, we all win.
@@puppetmaster532 Ibanez sent the best craftsman from fuji jen to Indonesia, so you will get quality from Ibanez, I'm a fan
Ulises Velasquez was gonna say I have a les Paul that has way rougher routing than this guitar
love my Schecter Demon 6 so much saving up for the Schecter Solo II Custom!
I've gotta say I actually like that quite a bit. For the price point it looks very well built and nicely featured. I'm not into the shred monster guitars so this T Style guitar checks more boxes for me personally. And I like pickups, maybe they could stand to be a little hotter but I think I liked them as is.
Nice Guitar.
