Bought a black on black Glary T style for $89. I was pretty decent as is. Put on some vintage style tuners, Tusq nut, swapped out the electronics with a Tele style EMG solderless pickup kit, fret polish. And it ended up being pretty much my #1. I bought it for a mod project but playing it stock I was pleasantly surprised. Ran it through a good amp and most would be none the wiser. I know there are many different beliefs out there but I go by the good player/good amp camp and not going balls out on the guitar cost. You want to throw down $2k for a LP or strat or whatever, cool. Life’s too short not to try to be happy with what you want. But that guitar plus the mods totaled $345 and it plays amazing.
I've had a whole list of stuff to do with the same model in the video. Finally finished, and I really do love that guitar. But yeah I had to do some reverse engineering, and just keep it in open G, the thing is a blast!! Pretty awesome. I'm not familiar with soldering enough to do a job like that. Would love to venture into it at some point though. Good for you for doing that, cool stuff 👍😎

All that being said you are doing a great service Trogly. Thanks!
I think the best thing glary has going for them is the aesthetic, because just the blue burst alone makes me want to buy it and switch the neck and electronics/pickups
The string alignment over the fretboard usually can be set right with the "Fender neck adjustment" where pulling the neck to one side or the other centers the strings over the FB. Loosen the neck screws a bit if you are squeamish. You can glue the ferrules in also.

As a random guy that just came across this vid, thank you for this specific review. I recently got one of these (burlywood, nice) I like it a lot regardless of (very minor) imperfections. I'm kinda a re-beginner. This guitar makes me smile. I appreciate how in depth and knowledgeable you are and especially how humble and kind your critiques are phrased. I recently got back into playing and I can't touch my guitars if I'm feeling shitty about stuff. Even your criticisms are polite. Good manners are underrated these days. Keep up the great work 👍
The reason for the odd bridge saddles is that they allow you to adjust the intonation on a per string basis and look a little more "trad" I guess. They don't really work though. I'd fit a Wilkinson bridge with the compensated bridge saddles (Amazon - $26 for the bridge, $15 for the compensated brass saddles alone - I have them on all my teles). Sounds nice enough though... better than most of the Gibsons you play IMHO, but I am a Fender fan.
"Looking for cheap guitars, a thousand bucks or less?" Yowzers, I have lived too long ... be that as it may ... Those loose ferrules on the back could stand a touch of glue (take yer pick,) that'll solve that. Yeah, I'd swap out that bridge, for the reasons you mentioned. Probably the nut, too, if only to scoot the strings over, a tad. If I wanted to change pickups or tuners, I'd go for the cheap-but-decent stuff from Guitar Fetish. Otherwise, like the man says, just spend a bit more for a different guitar. As cheapies go, this one looks fine.
Clear nail varnish should do the trick on the ferrules. It will hold them in place good enough, but if you ever want to take them out & upgrade them the nail varnish won't grip so tight they won't come out again.
Listen, if you want a budget guitar that actually worth your money, get a Harley Benton. Glarry makes complete CRAP that I wouldn't even buy for a beginner.
I hate those saddles had a problem with mine, one on the low E KEPT ROLLING OVER ON ITS SIDE WHILE SO I BOUGHT A BULK PACKAGE OF ROLLER SADDLES & PUT THEM ON MY 4 GUITARS ONLY SADDLE I USE IS ROLLER!
Interesting that the humbucker has less output than the single coil bridge pickup. Maybe Glarry didn't get both coils on the humbucker wired correct. For $120 dollars, a beginning guitarist could easily learn on this guitar. It's light years beyond the old Tiesco Tulip guitars of the 70s.
To fix the strings being too far to one side of the fret board, just loosen the neck screws and pull the neck in the direction it needs to go and tighten the screws back down. It’s actually very common on bolt on neck guitars, I’ve seen it on fenders before. It’s not actually a problem, it just means the neck wasn’t centered just right when screwing it on.
@@lucasoheyze4597 You saying that tells me you know very little about this subject. What I described is 100% the proper way to fix that issue. Nothing I mentioned could in any way damage anything.

I was looking for a review of the black Glarry case and couldn't find one here on YT... until now that is, thanks Trogly! 6:33 glad to hear this is a decent case, and that it fits a Tele well; I bought one of these for my Tele :)
Not to be negative about an inexpensive guitar, but from a mechanical standpoint, this 6 barrel saddle bridge is the worst bridge money can buy (it is an ultra cheap Tele bridge full of design flaw). This is because each string (pushes on the intonation screws and springs laterally. It's simply not a good idea putting lateral force on a length adjuster screw as it forces you to set each barrel at a cockeyed angle just to keep it from rocking or moving when the string is picked. A normal 3-barrel Tele bridge doesn't do this AND each barrel usually touches each other which helps stabilize them. If you look, you can easily see the string comes through the bridge plate and has to bend around the intonation screw just to align itself on the barrel saddle. The only good thing is that this particular guitar is a back loader instead of a top loader, however I often see these cheap Teles as top loaders with this exact same style bridge. A royally dumb and totally unnecessary design if there ever was one. Again, this is from a mechanical standpoint only and does not necessarily make this a bad sounding or playing guitar, however, the bridge is MUCH more prone to having problems if not set up just right.

But NO, it's not for beginners, and NO, not for someone that's looking to do only lite mods, at least mine wasn't.
Pretty awesome. I'm not familiar with soldering enough to do a job like that. Would love to venture into it at some point though. Good for you for doing that, cool stuff 👍😎
@@Madchris8828 the EMG pickup kit I bought was solderless. It’s great it has a system of miniature plug in type connectors for the pickups to the pots to the input jack and instructions. You don’t need to know anything other than what type of pickups or sound change you’re looking for. They made ones for a Telecaster replacement and I bought them on blind faith and it worked out. I bought a humbucker kit too and bought a blank Gibson Les Paul body type and put it in there. Just used a Phillips head screwdriver and a small adjustable wrench. If you want to mess around EMG makes a few different types and they’re a good bang for the buck.
Better than I started with 46 years ago!! Not bad for a starter guitar!
Ive got the red one ,And i love it. I did a full set up. But I can buy a 3000 dollar guitar and have to do the same thing.
Absolutely. That is what is missing from the commentary in these unboxings of low-price guitars I have played Gibson L5s, Martin D-28, etc., etc. with multiple issues.
On the second day of guitarmas Glarry sent to me, a Tele with a case for trogly!
That case looks exactly like GFS' hardshell cases, I wouldnt be surprised if they were the same cases.
I have 2 Guitar Fetish cases. They aren't anything like the Glary. Mine are almost as nice as my Gator cases.
@@alanwalker1698 I've been eyeing a couple of them for a while, thats good to know.
I was going purely on appearance here (and based on GFS own pictures that I dont think have been updated in ten years)
@@willcresson8776 I have a Twead and a black GFS case. Really was impressed. Was a little sceptical at first, but when I got my first, I was impressed. Although mine are Les Paul cases. I also got a Musicians Friend house brand case too that was on sale for like $59.00. was happy with it ,Too. Don't know which cases I have now (except the tweed that I still have) because cases have rotated in and out with guitars being sold.
Alan Walker I have the case in the video here, it's not bad at all. The latches are cheap pot metal but the rest is solid plywood. It's fine for normal use. Wouldn't want to go on tour with it, but if I was, Id be playing a name brand guitar of course. Good for $49! And free shipping.
@@jonathanhandsmusic I rally couldn't tell how bad or good the Glary case was. Just commented because someone made a comment how bad it was. There are a lot of budget cases that are really good. Most cases good or bad aren't up to airport and bus travel abuse.
Great video! You probably just sold 1000 of these for Glarry. Just want to point out that. $1000, for most of us is NOT a ‘inexpensive’ instrument. I know you are dealing with vintage guitars, but for the vast majority of us, we’ll never be able to afford 90% of the stuff on your channel. We watch because of that. All that being said you are doing a great service Trogly. Thanks!
Exactly. My dream guitar is a PRS Tremonti. But I could never see myself paying upwards of $3,000 for one guitar. Even if it's incredible
Lol it looked like you were going to do the full Samsonite ape test for the case.
This is the type of guitar my old band would buy just to have guitars to smash onstage after our set
yeah right!
It's that kind of cheap guitar your parents buy you for christmas when you say you when you say you want a Fender.
Watching you yank and pull on that guitar case handle made me laugh uncontrollably, it's the first time that I've laughed that hard in about 2 weeks..A very close friend of ours their 19 year old son just passed away so I haven't laughed at all about anything until now..Thank you sir for making me laugh, I love all of your videos as they are so calming and serene watching them..God Bless my friend!! 😁👍
JEMs are bass wood as well as some of EVHs guitars. EVH himself loves basswood. Can't be that bad.
Jems are alder with basswood veneers
@@samuelhenandez8032 i think the more expensive versions like the white one is alder, which is a much harder wood. I have read somewhere that Vai chose a alder body because it could withstand abuse with the edge much easier, like grabbing the guutar by the whammy bar and swing it around like a maniac
@Harry. B. Renner. jr. yeah Steve apparently 😆 probably why he wanted a monkey grip as well
Its gone down in price since then on sites like Amazon. I bought this a week ago for about $70-80 (i forget the actual price).
Is the middle splitting the humbucker? That ohms reading didn’t sound right. 11 at the neck, 3.78 bridge, 3.79 middle? Sounds like middle is still the bridge only
That case is identical to one I got from guitar fetish.
What did you say at the beginning? Aldo who? Geeb what? Well, that doesn't matter when you have a Glarry in the house!
Aldo Nova. He has a Gibson Signature Les Paul with a explorer head stock
@@tzctlpc I think he was just joking, making fun of it
would you please stop calling us troglodytes, I AM NOT A FUCKING TROGLODYTE, post as much as you want-just because I watch your posts doesn`t make me A FUCKING TROGLODYTE
Ok I bought the same model. The whole ashtray assembly was off a quarter inch to the treble side. Above the 7th fret the E string was off the fret board. Had to rework the whole ass end. I'm somewhat experienced in mods, but what a headache everything has been with it. Ok, I'm back, new pick guard, new Fender turners, new bone nut. Tuned to open G. Actually like it now. Oh yeah, sanded the over spray out of the f hole, and painted the edges of the f hole white ( no room for binding)..
I bought this guitar from the Trogster about a year and a half ago. The guitar came in great condition and after Trogly's conditioning of the fretboard, and cleaning, the guitar plays great. I asked him to sign the back of the headstock because I am a super fan, AND HE DID! He signed it to me personally, and it went into my personal collection. Thank you Austin!
That’s funny when would Ever recommend anything cheep.
For 95 bucks USD shipped should this be my 1st tele? I wanted 2 p-90 or humbucker in bridge really. I could do a crunch rail in the bride n leave the stock neck humbucker .
Well its's a million times better than the awful junk we had to buy in the early 80's !!! At 16 I would have died for that !!!!!!!!!
Mine is defective and Glarry never responded until after warranty expired. I just want the guitar. I wanted the Red ONE.
That Glarry's guitar was nervous while you was reviewing him
Sorry can’t watch this. Too full from the 9 Gibson unboxing.
Hey trogly, I just bought one of the 2020 fender mij boxer Stratocaster in Inca silver. It’s a reissue of an 80s model, with an hh configuration. I’d love to see you get your hands on one and do a review on it. Keep up the great content, man! We love what you do!
Sounds a lot like the neck pickup is still on in the "bridge" position, would also explain the identical resistance readouts of the middle and bridge positions.
I think that the middle position is still “bridge only”. Problem with the switch or wiring.
or the bridge position is bridge and neck, more likely given the readings. Either way, the wiring is wrong.
Can you review a Chapman guitar? Please?
why have you never reviewed a Harley Benton?
I'm waiting for that day to come
Because they haven't paid him to. Like glory hole guitars.
i watched this drunk and tbh, it was a blast
Glary why? Just go to a pawn shop. And take your small money and buy something used.
I’m waiting for the day Glarry has an ES-335 style guitar available. I’d love a semi hollow body guitar but there aren’t a lot of options for left handed people, and the ones we do have are pretty expensive.
Just do what Hendrix did and string it backwards.
Harley Benton has left handed semi-hollows. I would definitely check those out instead.
I bought a Glarry at the beginning of the pandemic, it’s pretty good but that me saying it from a novice perspective
Those hinges are definitely going to fail on that case.
Just don't open and close it and you'll be fine.
I have the Red one, very nice finish on mine, Good Bones!..upgraded to

Individual brass saddles for 120 bucks, Im getting one. I always change my cheap guitar saddles to brass, so thats an early upgrade i wont have to do. Really impressed
Have you seen the Fender American Professional II with the mirror finish? Its unbelievable
The glary cases are solid AF! Definitely a good investment.
Nice review. Guitar youtubers seem to be reviewing a bunch of Glarry guitars recently. I guess they are trying to pump up holiday sales so they ship them out to youtube reviewers.
I really want to see you review a Firefly FFLP. They're budget friendly and offer cases as well. I own a FFLP and think it's pretty good for $150
The thing is fireflies can be imposible to get because they are in so high demand
@@brunogrill3774 I know. It would be cool if someone local would lend him theirs.
Nice to have some variety away from Gibsons...
$1,000 bucks or less is inexpensive?
Glarry needs to issue a "Silver Burst" model. Can't wait for the Trogley review!
And then the Limited Edition Firebrand replica, "The Glarr"
What's the chances that you will do some actual Chinese guitars? Not like fakes, but real chinese.
I bought an SX les paul clone ($200) and I'm totally impressed.

I see the non centered strings on the fret board a big problem.... but that's just me. I think blacking out the wood behind the F-Hole wood make it look better.
Will this be a Trade Tuesday?
Saw this video and decided to buy a couple glarry cases. I bought two tweed cases. Was surprised when they didn't have the double neck rest.
Went to check Glarrys website, it is as advertised, the tweed case just doesn't come with 2 neck rests, only the black one.
My experience is a several years old now, but if you're looking for good quality cheap hardshell cases, check out rondomusic.com
🤢🤢🤮
Do the cases fit jazzmasters?
put some blood, sweat and tears into these cheaper guitars, and they will come to life, my Hofner Shorty guitars have knocked me out, I only bought them for street busking, and I got really attached to them, highly recommend them to anybody on a budget, the shorty deluxe has 2 humbuckers, and they are amazing for metal music kind of sound, the action is the lowest action I have ever played, but yeah, these clarry guitars seem great for the bobs
Gotta be honest, I *hate* that the bridge doesn't butt up against the pickguard. It's an eyesore.

You said to lubricate the nut. In Soviet Russia nuts lube...
Keep up the great work 👍
This'll be a good one 👍
Will trade you for a Happy Meal.
damn ive been playing 15+ years and "inexpensive $1000 or less'' man just fired shots at my whole arsenal xD
amazing how you Americans can get that guitar for $120 while same guitar costs $146USD
I stumbled onto the Glarry “secret” sale right before watching this
With strings going through the ferrules they won't rattle, the amount of tension on them will stop that.
Daily double question!
This is the definition of an oxymoron.
What is a high end glarry?
That copper-caster is fire!
Basswood has been used in many high-end guitars for decades and is considered a great tone wood for instruments throughout the industry.. Just sayin 🤙
Tyler here thinks he knows more about guitars than Trogly.

4:22 hell yeah!
