I own this car now! Lol. Just randomly found this video. I am in the middle of mini-tubbing it and going to stroke the 318 to a 390 with Trickflow Heads, EFI, etc. Going to do a 4 speed swap with a Dana 60
I had a '73 318/904 car that I did a manual conversion to. I went with a Tremec 5 speed. I ended up being MUCH happier with that, than a 4 speed. I could run a 3.90 rear, and, still keep it useable at highway speeds. Something to consider.
I'm not sure, I literally bought it and drove it into my garage and started tearing out the interior and backend to mini tub it. The motor in this video isn't the same as what is in it now, it has some slapped together almost stock 318.
I'm not a Mopar guy, but my Mopar friend in 90's was telling how people love to put 360 head on 318 block, and have a nice high revving 340, so they can get more HP with lighter 318 crank VS 360
Yup, 73 Dart,, 318, 340 same stroke. I punched mine .40, 340 heads, Mopar Purple Shaft 284/484 cam, 4:10 rear with 28" tires. Ran 12.80 with 904 reverse manual all night long👍
I had a 74 Swinger 318 when I was 18 in 80's. Always thought it was a peice of crap. Now...I regret not having taking care of it. Same for my 71 chevelle 307, and my 74 Pontiac Lemans Sport Coupe 350. and my......20 other cars
I love how he dropped it in gear to lower the rpm to make the lope even more pronounced. Love the car. Not a fan of the scoop though. I'd prefer a bit more subtle scoop personally.
hi have a question i have a 93 dodge dakota with the 318 what is the best rear end gears to get you of the line faster will a 1999 rear end work it's got 3.92 gears came out of a 99 Dakota 4x4
I know I'm late but dodge small blocks are meant to run hot. Especially 360 and 318s. As long as it ain't overheating, as in overflow or busting hoses and losing power, your fucking dandy. Besides, I have seen 318s get so hot that they were knocking and spuddering and they literally fired up the next day with no problems.
It was in Stockton when I owned it. I think it has since changed hands numerous times. I last saw it for sale in the Sacramento area on Facebook Marketplace.
i have a 1993 dodge Dakota with the 318 it's fule injection now i was thinking about switching over to carboraitor i was thinking about a 4bbl holly carboraitor and a good intake is that a good set up for the 318 i was thinking 600 cfm carboraitor is that a good one for the 318 I'm trying to find ways to get more horsepower and quicker off the start i have the a727 transmission and 355 rear end gears what do i half to do to get faster thank you for the information
There's quite a bit more then just switching carburetor. The magnum engine is different in many ways. But you would be better off just building a 360 4 bbl and 727 trans. Since you'd have to have the computer refigured to run without mpfi. The stock cfm on a 5.2 magnum is already 600 cfm and you'll lose reliability. Look on some forums & if you have any questions feel free to ask. If you live near Seattle I'd be happy to lend a hand !
Get a better breather, cooler thermostat, crank sensor mod, make sure the heads aren't cracked, port the heads, port match everything, headers, 3" exhaust, 150-200HP Wet Nitrous System, air fuel gauge, Transgo shift kit, 4.10 gears and drag radials. A lot of bang for little bucks.
yes it is the best overall engine chrysler has ever built...not the biggest or best to build to race but for an every day engine to drive it's great. it is like the chevy 283-327 engine it will run forever if you keep that oil changed.

Sweet Mopar! Sounds really good.
Music from Mopar heaven, to my ears!
I love how he dropped it in gear to lower the rpm to make the lope even more pronounced. Love the car. Not a fan of the scoop though. I'd prefer a bit more subtle scoop personally.
Looks and sounds great! Enjoy it
Nice car, glad there aren't burnout marks on that nice neighborhood street.
This car looks awesome! Sounds good
I am lovin' me some lope right now.
Mopedratin is a very underrated motor just like the 340 not hard to make a ton of power
What was completely done to this 318, I want to do the same to my twin 318’s in my boat
Love it God bless.
Sweet!
Hell yeah 318
Do you know what cam is in there? Sounds good

68 darts look so mean and all business in that black.
Few engines sound meaner than a modified 318.
Sacramento right?

Had a 71 Swinger
Never sounded like that

FlyinRyanPerformance has lots of stuff for FI magnum engines. No need for a carb to make big power.
is the 318 a tuff motor

Stealthy little motors, hell if they could of they'd been used in the space shuttle
what muffler are you using?
Wat cam ar you using
Is this for sale in Sacramento right now?
Brian Cuneo I think I saw it on market place too
Yes it was, I bought it Dec 2019 near Yuba City from a guy. (Not this guy in the vid)
]er epp
needs to turn the idle up just a bit
Sounds like 700rpm idle not a big cam... lol
Sounds like you don't have much experience being around cars
Bunch of noise and no guts.
No big cam maybe big vacuum leak
