    In this video I show you how to retouch headshots using frequency separation in Affinity Photo. Affinity is a photo editing program that is an awesome alternative to Photoshop and it's very inexpensive too!
    I learned many of my editing techniques from the wonderful London photographer Ivan Weiss, so go check out his channel here: / ivanweiss-london

    Thank you for such an in-depth workflow! I'm new to Affinity Photo 2, and this was such a great primer for using the various tools.

      My pleasure! Check out Affinity's RUclips channel and the tutorials by Ivan Weiss. He mentored me on Affinity and there's some great content there.

    It's good is to see someone using AP.
    Pete, create a duplicate layer before you create your frequency separation layer. You won't have to create a pixel layer. AP will create a low frequency layer for you. Hope this saves some time.

      @@PeteCocoPhoto Seriously, it's a game changer. I've watched many videos on frequency separation in Affinity and for some reason they never stuck. Yours stuck.

    Ony one thing is good to do, duplicate background basic layer, to preserve it and be able to quick compare edited layers with basic file. Amazing wideo and usefull for Affinity users and overall retuchers

      Thank you, Jakub! And great tip to copy the original layer for comparison. Glad you enjoyed the tutorial.

    Great video thank you. I have a couple of questions if you don’t mind! Do you still use affinity photo rather than PS? And how does the inpainting cope VS PS content aware fill for getting rid of the cine flex lights in your set up when they’re in the frame?

    • @PeteCocoPhoto
      @PeteCocoPhoto  Год назад

      Yes, I still use Affinity to edit. If you set the in painting brush to 100% across the board it usually has no problem removing the flex lights. I am going to try photoshop again, however, now that they've introduced so many new AI features.

    Will this work on the iPad version?

    • @PeteCocoPhoto
      @PeteCocoPhoto  2 года назад +1

      Hey John, I haven't used the iPad version myself, but my understanding is that it can do everything the desktop version can do.
