Rush and KingsX are so is the very few 3 piece bands that can sound so full and replicate it live. Exit stage left is a good example of how great Rush sounds live. Plus yes the singer not only plays keyboards but is the bass player as well, he uses an array of midi pedal controllers to be able to play both instruments live
You landed in the friendliest territory. Rush fans are notoriously rational and understanding fans. And they are truly the greatest 3-person band that ever was. If you liked this, then you definitely need to explore more 70's prog. Let's introduce you to some of the greats: Rush - YYZ live in Rio Yes - Roundabout (do not start with Owner of a Lonely heart. Yes 80's went pop.) Pink Floyd - Comfortably numb (pulse live)
You asked if the guy singing was also playing keyboard, yes, he was also playing the bass. There were (rip Neil the drumming goat) just three players in this band. This video shows a studio session where he is doing only one thing at a time, find a live video to have your mind fully blown.
This is a great start. It really is. Yes, that is the base. Yes that is Gerry Lee singing playing the bass and the keyboard and God only knows what else. Rush is basically three guys soloing in sync at all times it’s crazy. This is probably the first Rush song I heard when it came out on the radio and I loved it. I loved that whole album. Had a baby when I was really young and I didn’t have a place to stay so I was staying with my sister and her husband and he had a fabulous record collection. It was just me and my little tiny baby laying on my chest between two speakers listening to this. Then finding 2112. Mind blown. I thought I liked it before? My son and I are both musicians and I’d like to think early exposure to many many different kinds of music makes for a well-rounded individual. But it’s never too late. Keep an open mind and keep listening to great stuff . You never know where you’re gonna find it. Definitely the greatest three-piece rock band of all time. (Also see ZZ Top and triumph) But 100% Neil PEART is among the best three drummers of all time. I’ll let you find out who the other two are on your own.
Welcome to Rush! Three master musicians from Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦 They had a 40 plus year career Geddy Lee Vocals, Bass, Keyboards and Pedals Alex Lifeson Acoustic and electric guitar, mandola, pedals and later keyboards Neil Peart Drums, Percussion and Main Lyrist Unfortunately Neil Peart passed from brain cancer in January of 2020. He is considered one of the best drummers in rock. song suggestions YYZ live in Rio The Trees official music video Xanadu from Exit Stage Left Digital man from the Snakes and Arrows tour Rush are considered Progressive rock although they changed their style through the years but always sounded like Rush. Cheers 🇨🇦
Rush is the Greatest Three Piece Orchestra. Xanadu Red Barchetta Subdivisions Distant Early Warning Farewell to Kings Closer to the Heart Freewill Roll the Bones Just keep going!
Its prog metal, prog rock and these three were the best to ever do it, greatest power trio and live band ever, 40+ years of superior music. More Rush please. 😊
Rush arguably the worlds best drummer Neil Peart, Geddy Lee a goat on bass and Alex Lifeson another goat on guitar. One of the best progressive 3 man bands in the world. Canada Rocks
Rush (that's the name of the band) is a deep, deep rabbit hole. 19 studio albums, 167 songs, 40+ years. It's worth you're time. The Spirit of Radio is a good next reaction. 🤘
Congratulations. You’ve discovered the best 3 man rock group in history. Over 40 years of making music, 17 studio albums and 170+ songs to explore. Try any of these: Subdivisions, YYZ, Red Barchetta, Natural Science, Xanadu, Ghost Rider, LaVilla Strangiato and on and on. You can’t make a mistake with Rush.
While they never rested in place with their music over their 41-years together, it's fair to say (as you observed) that there was an upbeat quality to most of their music. Their first album (recorded with the original drummer) was very much inspired by Led Zeppelin. Their next 5 studio albums cemented their place as the "god fathers of progressive metal" (which is how they were described during their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame). On their next two studio albums, they began tightening up (and shortening) their songs, with great success. I think of these two albums (1980's Permanent Waves and 1981's Moving Pictures (on which Tom Sawyer was the lead track) as the band's "classic rock" phase (because so many of the songs on these two albums are staple tunes for classic rock radio stations today. Their next 7 studio albums have been referred to as the band's synthesizer phase, and their final 5 studio albums saw them shift back to a heavier, harder, guitar-driven sound. Most Rush fans love all of their albums, but there's a sizeable chunk that didn't appreciate the music they played in the '80's and ''90's, when the guitar work had to sometimes make way for the synths. As a matter of fact, it was thanks - at least in part - to the increasing displeasure of Rush's guitarist, Alex Lifeson, that they toned down the use of synths (so much so that 2 of the last 5 didn't have any synths on them). Recommendations: 1. Subdivisions 2. Digital Man 3. Analog Kid 4. Natural Science 5. Headlong Flight *** You should generally try to react to live versions of Rush's music, because it was a marvel how they could play everything with just three guys. And, since you asked, I'd like to recommend what was arguably the first song of the rap / hip hop genre to reach no. 1 on the BillBoard Hot 100. The song is "Rapture" and the band is "Blondie." The official video is the best one to watch.
Hi Rebel! You put yourself out there to learn about music and you are fortunate to have picked an excellent example. These guys are the total package. All three, Alex Lifeson on guitar and some petal work, Geddy Lee on bass, keyboard, petal work and lead singing, and Neil Peart, a standout, some say GOAT, percussionist. He uses everything he could learn for effect to create compositions. Neil is also the main lyricist and he is an excellent wordsmith. In the rock world of '70's and '80's, he (and even the other two), were famous for NOT being the normal rock, party mongers, room trashers, etc., that you read/hear about. Neil was a voracious reader and introvert. He bicycled through some African countries and set off on a months long solo motorcycle trip across Canada, western US and Mexico after is daughter and wife died within a year of each other. There is a lot of very good music, and if you are so inclined, the more you look regarding who these guys were, the more you will appreciate and like the vibe of what they represent. I appreciated, but was not a big fan until I saw them live in the mid-'80's (and twice more in '90's and 2004). Seeing them do what they did live is something that makes you a fan for life and I am truly sorry that is not available to you. They do have a good catalog to explore and good live recordings that provide insight.
Welcome to the World of Rush… this rabbit hole you have discovered will send you through so many thoughts and emotion that no other band can. Once you have exited the hole you’ll dive right back in and along the way add songs to the playlist. Now, what to listen to next, there are so many, that you will need to start with La Villa Strangiato, Spirt of Radio, YYZ, 2112 and Xanadu. again welcome and enjoy….. there are 4 decades of music to catch up on…. Btw love the reaction…
If you haven't heard The Cranberries, that's a good rabbit hole to go down. They were an Irish band and their lead singer, Dolores O'Riordan, used to sing in a very Irish style, called Keening. It's like Irish yodelling. Dolores passed away in 2018. Their songs Linger, Dreams and Zombie, about a real life event, among others are all fantastic songs. But they owned the early to mid 90s with music that was ahead of its time.
Best 3 man band! All so talented. I’m here for RUSH. RIP Neal. Your video made my algorithm. Keep down the lane of the classics! We can’t lose this music to the crap I hear today.
Great Reaction- it is tough starting out reacting, but the music will be worth it. if you want to hear a Top Rush Banger check out YYZ live in Rio - must be this version. I would also recommend Whipping Post by the Allman Brothers, Can’t you hear me knocking by The Rolling Stones, When the Levee Breaks by Led Zeppelin, Won’t get Fooled Again (live) by The Who - Good Luck! I’ll be watching
Great job, one of the big 3 or 4 bands with a huge following and rabbit hole of music. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Lynyrd Skynyrd being the others. I’d say Pink Floyd Time and Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Simple Man are great songs to dip your toe in the water.
As a life long Rush fan I can recommend two songs for a new reactor, Spirit of Radio and YYZ live in Rio (This particular song will give you some insight as to how good they are musically). I see people recommending 2112 (21 minute song) and Xanadu live in 1981. Please avoid these until you hear some of their more popular songs. Thanks for the reaction.
Rush is a progressive rock band whose career spand over 40 years 20+ albums and over 170 songs. There music constantly evolved over the years incorporating my different elements and styles of music. The are the best 3 piece band ever! Geddy Lee (lead singer, Bass guitar, and Keyboards) , Alex Lifeson (Guitar both electric and aucostic, and pedals) , and Neil Peart (THE BEST DRUMMER TO EVER LIVE, in my opinion) They were able to make deep layered music that most bands can not even dream about. So other songs from them you may to start you off Working Man, FLy by Night, Limelight, Spirit of Radio, Subdivisions
One way I'd do this is like i did way back when. Pick a band, then pick an album and listen to the whole thing in track order. You can make separate videos for each song if you want. Do studio versions first. Bands to check out, RUSH, Styx, Boston, Metallica, Megadeth, the Who, Led Zeppelin. there is a LOT more. When you get to Pink Floyd, it's best to listen to their albums straight through as the songs run together makes it hard to tell where one song ends and the next one starts.
This is the first song from Moving Pictures. Listen to the whole album, in order. Studio version or official video when available. No Vizualizers, please!
This is progressive rock. Rush is known for their changing time signatures, deep lyrics, and expert musicianship. Neil Peart, the drummer, is considered one of the best, if not THE best drummer, ever. Peart also wrote the lyrics for I believe all of the Rush songs. Getting into this band is a deep, DEEP hole. I recommend listening to Spirit of the Radio next.
Greatest band of all time lyrically and musically all 3 are virtuosos on their instruments!!!! Play that whole album phenomenal from beginning to end ,any Rush is good Rush, try driven bytor and the snow dog, mission, marathon, half the world, anthem, ,Xanadu live in 81,a Farwell to Kings whole album, Hemispheres whole album, permanent waves whole album, Rush is an album band early days concept albums
I can't recommend hip hop or popular artists like Swift, but I saw this because I'm a Rush fan, and I can recommend more from them. One thing to be aware of is that they do all kinds of different sounds. You won't hear another one like Tom Sawyer. They're a progressive rock band that came out in the early 70s and played for 40 years. They have long 20-minute epics and short, radio-friendly ones. Another good one to listen to is "The Spirt of Radio" from their Permanent Waves album. That one is peppy and quirky and VERY fun!
The lyrics are a big part of the Rush experience since Neil Peart was a master lyricist. I recommend reading them over first, then listen to the song and you will hear the music and lyrics a little more clearly. Then go back over the lyrics again since they are generally very meaningful and insightful. 😁
As you've seen in the comments, these are world class master musicians. A few live videos I would recommend - YYZ live in Rio; Working Man live in Cleveland; Neil Peart live in Frankfort.
Welcome to Rush. The three greatest musicians of all time. I recommend that you listen to The Spirit of Radio and Freewill next. After that, I believe you will enjoy the official version of La Villa Strangiato and Xanadu from Exit Stage Left live.
Welcome to the wonderful world of Rush. Three masters of their instruments. Neil Peart (Peert not pert) GOAT of drummers. Geddy Lee wunderkind multi tasker: amazing bass. keyboards, foot pedals and vocalist, and Alex Lifeson, most underrated guitar master. My recommendations: Limelight, Xanadu Live Exit Stage One (1981), YYZ Live in Rio. Working Man Live in Cleveland, Far Cry. The Pass, Resist, Live in RIo, Red Sector A, and whatever else other commentators have mentioned. Have fun!
Good luck with your You Tube monetization effort. As foractually learning about music appreciation, lyrics, and meanings, thats something earned by motivation.....you certainly dont "Need" likes, subscriptions, or comments from others. Just listen on your own, with honest motivation.
Great reaction video…listen to The Camera Eye song from their Moving Pictures album…Neil Peart (pronounced like “ear” that starts with a ‘p’ and ends with a ‘t’) is the drummer/percussionist/lyricist-genius for the band (RIP)…. Their story is one of the most amazing in music history…😎👍
Build your channel suggestions… TOOL (start from the beginning) Pink Floyd (anything from Pulse or Echoes-all) Metallica (first 4 in order) Led Zeppelin (all) Rush (all) Steely Dan (all) Yes (all) Genesis (anything Peter Gabriel)
Great reaction, good video man!!! Should continue with their music. I would recommend "YYZ live in Rio" and "Leave that thing alone", both live performances . And this is only the beggining!
If you like this sort of thing, there are plenty more great Rush songs, I'll let other people mention them. Bands in a somewhat similar vein: Yes (Yours is no disgrace, Heart of the Sunrise), Jethro Tull (Aqualung, Cross Eyed Mary). On the Rock/Rap side, try Rage Against the Machine (Bulls on Parade, Down Rodeo). Well there's a few bands and songs you could check out.
Enjoyed your reaction….. I’ll jump onboard for your journey into quality music. Music can change your life. It can open up things to you that you never considered before. One tip, have fun, and always rewind 10 secs before restarting a song ! (Ok, that was 2)
Great reaction! It’s awesome that you’re experiencing this music for the first time. Thank you so much for sharing this! If you want a boost in viewers and subs - there’s two rabbit holes you should go down. Both artist come with large, extremely loyal fan bases Falling In Reverse - start with “Watch the World Burn” Bo Burnham - who does comedy and music together. Start with Welcome To the Internet
@mdu2112 C'est vraiment "My Immortal" que je voudrais qu'il écoute, mais c'est mieux si Amy lui vole son coeur avec celle-ci, avant de le briser avec l'autre! 😉
Rush is my favorite band and Led Zeppelin is my 2nd. Just watched your two reactions and I'm scribing for more Classic Rock! I see you like rap. Have you checked out REN? He's a very versatile and creative independent rapper from the UK 🇬🇧 😊
Well, Our three Canadian masters a 45 yr catolog. Geddy Lee lead vocals Bass Keys. Alex Lifeson Guitar and The profesor Neil Peart on Drums/percussion..... Freewill great next See have RUSH in thumbnail you will get views. Cheers
Yes...please...and make sure to look for the lated HD remastered version of that performance from the channel stickhits...it is so much better in 1080HD.
I've got a great rabbit hole to go down. Frank Zappa. Maybe start with "The Yellow Snow Suite" from the Apostrophe album. One of the most important 20th century composers mixing very diverse styles. He is literally his own genre.
Long time Rush Lurker. Don't worry about it. Enjoy the Rush ride and don't let the Rush Gatekeepers get to you. Yes there are Rush Gatekeepers! Stupid Gatekeepers !
You want an awesome song try out Blind man in the dark by Govt Mule from the album the deepest end the live concert is available on here this track is from the concert. Enjoy 🇨🇦👍🏻🇨🇦 Great job!
Anything Rush is great. I recommend Working Man live in Cleveland. Amazing! Also anything by April Wine and Triumph. You can't go wrong with 60s,70s and 80s hard Rock, classic rock and metal. I hope this helps. Enjoy your journey discovering the music I grew up with 😊
Just now found you! If you listen to the greatest and best of the 60's, 70 and some 80's, they will come. My favorites from back then. Zeppelin, Doors, Humble Pie, Small Faces, Jethro Tull, Heart, Ozzy Osborn/Black Sabbath, more Rush, some Grand Funk Railroad, Janis Joplin, Joe Cocker, Meat Loaf, Boston, Kansas, Rolling Stones, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bob Seger just to name a few! Jefferson Airplane/Starship. George Thorogood, 10 Years After/Alvin Lee, Chicago too... Creedence Clearwater Revival AKA CCR, Beatles, Kinks and I know I'm leaving some out.... Do Black Coffee by Humble Pie, Inside Looking Out by Grand Funk Railroad, 25 or 6 To 4, live at Tanglewood by Chicago, Paradise By The Dashboard Light by Meat Loaf official video, they'll come with their suggestions and requests then.
Recommendations for *both* hip-hop and rap?!? 😂 as silly as that phrasing was, here’re some gems I doubt you have heard and deserve some attention: - gopher guts - Aesop Rock - press rewind - del the funky homosapien - Uncle Sam goddamn - brother Ali - applied knowledge - language arts crew - scapegoat - atmosphere - danger - blahzay blahzay - nothing is safe - clipping. - meat grinder - MF DOOM - zealots - fugees - walkin - Denzel curry - now - Eyedea & abilities Good luck homie - subbed
Prog Rock is what it is and they where the masters of it. Best 3 piece band ever. Just Subscribed and my first react from you. I'll give you 5 must listen songs with a variety and hopefully the video to go with it. 1. Metallic - From whom the bells toll. Video look up is A Day on the green. 1985(bass playing extraordinaire) 2. Van Halen - Jump(official video because the synthizer) 3. Black Sabbath - War Pigs(several good Videos look for the most popular one)* changing it as you did this one already ❤ 3(new one) AC/DC - Thunder Struck (official video) 4. Flock of Seagulls - I ran ( catchty beat with Synthiz and a One Hit Wonder) 5. Journey - Don't Stop Believing Live from Houston 1981(the singer is known as The Voice) Hope ya like. Look forward to seeing more videos. Keep it up
Fleetwood Mac...1970's incredible band. Start with The Chain..Do Fleetwood Mac before you go down the Stevie Nicks rabbit hole.. (female front vocalist for them)
You want to grow your channel exponentially fast? Keep reacting to Rush (the song is Tom Sawyer, the band is RUSH), the greatest rock trio of all time, known as "The Godfather's of Progressive Metal" (a subgenre of Rock music). Rush is one of the secret ingredients to grow a channel fast. And luckily, they have a discography of 20 studio albums that includes 178 original recording songs and an album of 60's cover songs to top it off, so plenty to react too. I'd like to suggest Far Cry and Headlong Flight from RUSH.
You're listening to 3 of the world's greatest at thier instruments. An absolute clinic.
Dude you are listening to one of the best bands ever !!😎
Bring the Rush army you will succeed !!
👍💯
Rush and KingsX are so is the very few 3 piece bands that can sound so full and replicate it live. Exit stage left is a good example of how great Rush sounds live. You landed in the friendliest territory. Rush fans are notoriously rational and understanding fans. And they are truly the greatest 3-person band that ever was. If you liked this, then you definitely need to explore more 70's prog. Let's introduce you to some of the greats:

Pink Floyd - Comfortably numb (pulse live)
This is the deepest greatest hole to explore. Thanks. Great reaction
Signature song by the Best touring Rock and Roll band ever. Full 🛑
I would suggest “Limelight” from this same 1980 album “Moving PIctures”.
Rush song.. the spirit of radio

But 100% Neil PEART is among the best three drummers of all time. I’ll let you find out who the other two are on your own.
Welcome to Rush! Three master musicians from Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦
They had a 40 plus year career
Geddy Lee Vocals, Bass, Keyboards and Pedals
Alex Lifeson Acoustic and electric guitar, mandola, pedals and later keyboards
Neil Peart Drums, Percussion and Main Lyrist
Unfortunately Neil Peart passed from brain cancer in January of 2020. He is considered one of the best drummers in rock.
song suggestions
YYZ live in Rio

Rush are considered Progressive rock although they changed their style through the years but always sounded like Rush.
Cheers 🇨🇦

Just keep going!
The band .. Yes. The song.. Roundabout
That was gonna be my next suggestion!
19 studio albums. 😊

*** You should generally try to react to live versions of Rush's music, because it was a marvel how they could play everything with just three guys.
And, since you asked, I'd like to recommend what was arguably the first song of the rap / hip hop genre to reach no. 1 on the BillBoard Hot 100. The song is "Rapture" and the band is "Blondie." The official video is the best one to watch.
The band is called Rush. The song is called Tom Sawyer.
This was my favorite heavy metal band! His voice is the best
Red Barchetta , Spirit of Radio , Limelight , 2112 , YYZ , Time Stand Still. Nuff said.

They're a progressive rock band that came out in the early 70s and played for 40 years. They have long 20-minute epics and short, radio-friendly ones. Another good one to listen to is "The Spirt of Radio" from their Permanent Waves album. That one is peppy and quirky and VERY fun!
How in God's name can you never have heard of Rush or Tom Sawyer?? Just mind blowing.....
The lyrics are a big part of the Rush experience since Neil Peart was a master lyricist. I recommend reading them over first, then listen to the song and you will hear the music and lyrics a little more clearly. Then go back over the lyrics again since they are generally very meaningful and insightful. 😁
Excellent suggestion.
Going to give that a shot thanks!
Stay with Rush for a while. You will not be disappointed.
Love these guys. More Rush would be great. Lots of suggestions below
As you've seen in the comments, these are world class master musicians. A few live videos I would recommend - YYZ live in Rio; Working Man live in Cleveland; Neil Peart live in Frankfort.
•Subdivisions
•Limelight
•Spirit of the
Radio its a good start
Welcome to Rush. The three greatest musicians of all time. I recommend that you listen to The Spirit of Radio and Freewill next. After that, I believe you will enjoy the official version of La Villa Strangiato and Xanadu from Exit Stage Left live.
Yes, the low stringed instrument is a bass, played by the singer who also plays keyboard as well as the bass.
The Spirit of Radio is a great one. You’ll love it. You cut the song short.
Glad to see your appreciation. This 3 man group are the most talented musicians you'll ever see. Great reaction. Do Natural Science next.
Welcome to the rush, rabbit hole, it is very deep, and you will never want to get out of it
Im already getting deeper into it!
Next do Rush LIMELIGHT
Best guitar solo evarrr
I like his first solo on La Villa Strangiato more but he has said that Limelight was his favorite to play live.
Rush
Tool
Queensryche
Yes
Led Zeppelin
Any of these bands have phenomenal music.
Build your channel suggestions…
TOOL (start from the beginning)
Pink Floyd (anything from Pulse or Echoes-all)
Metallica (first 4 in order)
Led Zeppelin (all)
Rush (all)
Steely Dan (all)
Yes (all)
Genesis (anything Peter Gabriel)
Great reaction, good video man!!! Should continue with their music. I would recommend "YYZ live in Rio" and "Leave that thing alone", both live performances . And this is only the beggining!
I will watch any and every Rush reaction that you do
If you like this sort of thing, there are plenty more great Rush songs, I'll let other people mention them.
Oh I forgot 2112 at least first side ,animated version for you to help follow along,,a animated version for spirit of radio too soo good
Limelight, analog kid, subdivisions, passage to Bangkok ( live version is best)
Live is coming up soon people keep telling me to do so
I can't figure out why more rap artists don't sample RUSH.
Enjoyed your reaction….. I’ll jump onboard for your journey into quality music. Music can change your life. It can open up things to you that you never considered before. One tip, have fun, and always rewind 10 secs before restarting a song ! (Ok, that was 2)
If you want more Rush, I'd suggest Big Money, Limelight, Spirit of Radio, Subdivisions, Red Sector A.
Check out Neil Peart’s drum solo from Frankfurt. Work of art.
Great reaction! It’s awesome that you’re experiencing this music for the first time. Thank you so much for sharing this!

Rush is my favorite band and Led Zeppelin is my 2nd. Just watched your two reactions and I'm scribing for more Classic Rock! I see you like rap. Have you checked out REN? He's a very versatile and creative independent rapper from the UK 🇬🇧 😊

Want to know about instrumentation? Welcome to Rush - progressive rock Gods
Another great band to learn more about instrumentation is Steely Dan.
Fleetwood Mac...1970's incredible band. Start with The Chain..Do Fleetwood Mac before you go down the Stevie Nicks rabbit hole.. (female front vocalist for them)
Father stretch my hand - Kanye
If you want to hear a little Funk listen to Bob Seger song Come to Papa
You want to grow your channel exponentially fast? Keep reacting to Rush (the song is Tom Sawyer, the band is RUSH), the greatest rock trio of all time, known as "The Godfather's of Progressive Metal" (a subgenre of Rock music). Rush is one of the secret ingredients to grow a channel fast. And luckily, they have a discography of 20 studio albums that includes 178 original recording songs and an album of 60's cover songs to top it off, so plenty to react too. I'd like to suggest Far Cry and Headlong Flight from RUSH.
Stretch your horizon and try progressive rock. Live in Tilburg Porcupine Tree and their song Anesthetized. It will open up a whole new world for you.
