That rake is like the old 'Acrobat' rake that was used in the UK years ago but the UK one consisted of only one section and was mounted on the three point linkage. It was very small and I often used one on a MF 35 or Fordson Dexta. Thanks for the video, Wes.
they should held me back in a few classes but they were so glad to get rid of me, they passed me. I always wanted to be outdoors doing things and struggled with classroom work. Good thing they didn't know about adht, add and ocd back then or they would have had me all screwed up on meds. If I didn't have my little farm to tinker on and build and grow stuff, I wouldn't have survived in a successful career. I would even get nervous in training classes I had to attend because my mind was always somewhere else. That God that's over and I can fart around at my own pace. Thanks for sharing!
Farmer down the street from us who only runs deere I think has one of these greed able hubs are definitely a nice feature and trailering at 50 to 60 always helps to nice compact setup I like it
That rake is very similar to the Vermeer wheel rakes. As far as the H&S not having grease able hubs you can do the same thing that I am getting ready to do to my H&S BF8 rake and that is to drill and tap the hubs for grease fittings. The only other thing you have to do is to turn the seal around backwards so it won't get pushed out of the bore when you grease the hub.
The other way to grease those bearings are to use "bearing budies" for trailers. Then you get a reservoir to hold the grease, pump it up and you are golden.
Depends where you are and what your dry times are like. Knocking some leaves off with a tedder is far more desirable than having the hay get wet 2-3 times because it was too wet to bale when it rained.
this is a pretty good hay rake ,,I have used a 10 wheel rake on my mothers 20 acres to rake first and second cutting brome grass and it works well I can even pull it with my truck which gets the job done faster cause I can go close to 18mph with my truck Vs the 1755 oliver at about 8-10 mph
Those generic style rakes are good, reliabe rakes. My cousins run a H&S 9 wheel (its got one in the center between the two arms) and it does a fine job for most hay work, until you get into extremely heavy hay, then it tends to ball up between the arms (not a big deal you just gotta adjust the way the arms are set). We've been running it for years without any issues other than changing a flat tire or two. There is almost nothing to go wrong with them as long as you keep them greased up.
As a corporate type I find your vids - on what are likely the most mundane topics to you - to be interesting, and from time to time, fascinating. Your job is a lot harder than mine. I wouldn't last a month, with help. I wouldn't last a week on my own.
we have a rake just like that and ours bogs up the tongue of it got ripped of but was never reinforced but I will say it is okay wanting a brand new new Holland or Vermeer
Tonutti makes those for JD. They are the same thing as a Vermeer. That particular model would be the same as a WR-20. I have a Vermeer and had the same problem with the frame bolts breaking.
Would sticking a cow magnet on the back of the frame keep that pin from coming out if the cotter pin breaks? I use cow magnets for a lot of different things
Are these little rakes not PTO driven? So you use a pickup for raking the grass? That sounds funny but I suppose its a good method if you have a longish journey to get to the field.
.....could you plz post a link for hotels / motels and campgrounds in the area.......for spring plow days......also is you tube gonna be a sponser?.....and need info on signing up to attend.......
Nice rake. Raking has always been a part of haying. Is it me or is this Tedder concept a relatively new idea? I see guys with these tedders spinning all the leaves off their grass (esp alfalfa). Seems silly. No?
does it rap up with hay being made like that with the spindles and bars on the inside.(in THICK mulch hay) if you still have it how much are you thinking for it.
hey wes have you had an issue with the wheels dragging on ground or ass end hanging out really with i have one 10 wheel its kinda fucked up it hangs out wide drags on ground nothings broke or bent it is weird
not sure if you can disconnect one side, ive ran the same thing and when one those bolts breaks its a bitch to get folded. Good rake other than the fact that they don't like thick hay
I've been kicking around the idea of getting one. All I can afford is used with 25-30k on it. I'm doing round right now I like that I can keep them outside, and not ruin the bale.
Did you know that this wheelrake was invented in the Netherlands in 1949 Guys. It was invented by Vicon and they named it the "Acrobat" nl.vicon.eu/Over-Vicon/Vicon-al-100-jaar-innovatief/A-Wide-Product-History-Portfolio
Well I have another thing that I am wondering about .... and that is ..... is it possible to rent new equipment at a low price with option to buy?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????????????????????? only brave and OR brave and stupid ... companies would do that. I do not like you do get dissapointed and then a long legal struggle .... how about rent before you buy? That should weed out all the chicken companies .... and then you know.
MajSolo Anyways I am still veeeery interested in how the crop is doing not the tractors. I already figured out that OLF is 1000 times more competent then me in machinery in practice. But I ... well ... teell u a story. Hrrmm. The farming family. The ONLY one who could take over the farm in old days was a BOY. So the old man kept working at it. The result was 8 girls and 1 boy who inherited the farm. When I was a teenager I help out there trying to earn a little money. My mother is 1 of those 8 grils. All I remember from farming u have to inspect the crops, meassure humidity, check for bugs, decide on spraying ..... it is a lot more then jsut tractors. If the crops fail you will not have any tractors ... he he he hehehehehe

Hey Wes well you got me to buy this rake for 5000 brand new at a local jd dealer and it works REALLY good thanks :D

We use a 10ft IH roller bar rake. Can run 7.4 mph with it. Don't take too long to cover some ground with it.
I love your videos

You aren't really suppose to tedd alfalfa but you can in a pinch if you are willing to take the leaf loss.
nice
I saw that just sitting in another video.
Could you do a farm tour video please
does it rap up with hay being made like that with the spindles and bars on the inside.(in THICK mulch hay) if you still have it how much are you thinking for it.

Im still wondering how many bales one of these big square balers can push out before they're completely worn out.
80,000 or so is what they tell me
I've been kicking around the idea of getting one. All I can afford is used with 25-30k on it. I'm doing round right now I like that I can keep them outside, and not ruin the bale.
