I agree with the things you said, but you should really qualify some of the claims with 'up to'. Up to 40 mi/day from the Sun. Up to 1,000 mi/charge etc. A lot of variables with those claims. I really hope Aptera makes it into mass production. I've reserved one but I can't afford to risk investing in the company. Glad that you did.
It isn't a mislead to advertise the best-case scenario, they can't know everyone's circumstances. We can configure the reservation to have whichever battery and solar package.
When I first saw an Aptera, I thought someone had put wheels on an airplane fuselage. Then I looked deeper into the company and their design philosophy. Jason Hill, Aptera's design head sums it up nicely, "We are chasing Nature and its efficiency." At up to 40mi/day free propulsion, double my daily commute, I may never have to charge until trip time. So I reserved one and invested.
Our plan is the latter. We're a bit too creaky to be climbing in and out of the back of the Aptera to sleep. We can't wait to tool around in it. I also want to do some road trips to test out that incredible range!
Would be awesome if it existed and went as promised. The reality is that it's a pipe dream you're being sold by slick snake oil salesmen. Get back in the real world.
I'm rooting for Aptera to make it to production and one day get a ride in the one you ordered. Only thing - unlike George Jetson's car - yours won't fold up into a suitcase. Maybe they'll figure that out for the 2nd-gen version.
Ordered an Aptera in December 2020. I more or less ordered the 400 mile range first production configuration so it is now listed as such. I also threw a few $$$ at the company as an investment. I am not sure I want to add another $10,000 to get one of the first 2000 vehicles produced but I definitely want one…Realistically, I don’t see how they will go into production until 2024 and if they only start at making ten per day as they predict it could be 2025-2026 before I might get one…
I just need something in the middle. The aptera is cool but the styling is a little too funky for this city boy. Haha. 5 to 6 miles per kwh and a somewhat normal styling and I'm in. Then someone has to convince my wallet. I like the look of the ID4 and it's about the only "affordable" car that has styling I like.
@@oursolartrailer I hope they start giving the tax break directly instead of the credit! I do like that EUV though. Still not quite the styling I'd like and my wife always scrunches her face up when I show her EV styles. Lol. Time will tell!!
You've got a point. Compared with the Tesla Model 3, in contrast, the Aptera will be produced and sold in tiny numbers--at best 5% of the volume. At this point, Aptera has pre-orders for $1.5 billion. Tiny by comparison with Tesla or any big auto maker. Given the pre-orders, I expect they'll generate sales comparable to the Chevy Volt in its day--about 10,000 per year.
If they’ve got 41K reservations now and without the vast majority of the world knowing about it, imagine what will happen when it hits the streets. If you look at the current generation, most will not marry and the 2 seater will be most appealing.
A TRAILER! You're going to pull a trailer... Amazing naiveté. Please have a *friend post a video* of the 1st time you apply the brakes or go around a turn at 55 mph with the trailer attached.

Whether there's a charge or not, you need to weigh that against the federal and state taxes leveled per gallon of gasoline purchased over the year for your ICE alternative. Not to mention the difference in energy cost between electricity and gasoline.
The Aptera is not a Car. Its maximum range of 1000mi on a charge has never been tested. The maximum range from solar 0f 40mi has never been tested. It has probably not been crash tested. Much of what is reported are computer simulations not real world facts.

Yeah, I agree. Don't buy into all the "marketing spiel". We're still waiting for "robo taxis" ;-)

Kudos, Rich! We're thrilled to hear it. If enough of us come together, we can help make this a reality we drive and not just a dream we share!
Awesome and engaging video. I'm glad this landed on my algorithm. Solar generation FTW
Thank you so much! 🙏
It is an awesome vehicle. Are you getting the tent option? Or going to use the Aptera as run-about when not camping?

Like George, the company folds.

I think you are right on every point. We're waiting for the 600 mile version, so anticipate it being a year after you get yours.
Good luck guys 😜
