2080ti can only just about run 4k at 60fps on new released games. I've seen tests with it hitting 70 on older titles. It's not impressive especially for price. Your 2080 won't even reach 60fps at 4k. Better off getting 1080ti and having the same performance as the new 2080 for way less.
@@TheRagingStorm98 aren't they stopping the 1080ti production though? I so hope AMD is going to deliver something soon, those RX prices are just too dumb.
@@megapro125 That's a case of if and when that happens even then they would need to force it on all games in the future. It's definitely not useful right now with so few games scheduled to use it. Really you are better off by waiting for the next Gen cards which will do all you said better anyway at least nivdia tech will be more widespread then. So you will see greater performance from it. Honestly it's stupid to get the new cards especially if you can get a 1080ti for cheaper which runs the exact same as the 2080. Ebay is good to find ones in mint condition, gumtree aswell. But if you have reservations on that any computer company selling parts do have sales so I can see getting it at a decent price through that to. If you aren't gaming at 4k you are fine the 10 series cards will run fine with any game at 2k for a few years more at least. Likely will be fine running anything up until the next Gen cards are out. Simply put 4k 60fps gaming isn't here yet especially when only one card is capable of achieving it and that's the Ti model. Basically it will be the next generation of cards that will be able to 4k game and I'm being honest no one needs higher than that. It's been clear for a while that graphics cards have run behind resolution increases. Looking at this monitor it seems that trend will continue. I myself personally find no point in moving up to new resolutions unless I know the hardware is able to support 60fps at that resolution. Just my two sense really. That's how I look at the complete uselessness that is the 20 series
Forza Horizon 4 running 4K ultra on my 1080Ti @2050MHz managed to do 67fps in the benchmark. New title but still over 60fps it just depends which title you play wether 4K ultra is achievable.

Hot tip: Get the 34BK95U, the "business" model but otherwise the same. It's $200 cheaper and you can order from ProVantage. That's what I did and am happy so far. It's a heck of a monitor. I'm using it on a Dell Precision 7530 with nVidia Quadro P3200 on a Thunderbolt port. I think it is only Alpine Ridge since the DisplayPort in Thunderbolt is 1.2, but it seems to work OK -- once it works. In Linux, X messes around a while starting up but eventually (usually but not always) comes up OK. In Windows it works OK but if it goes to sleep, the computer hangs and I have to force power off. I have not tried on the laptop's standalone DisplayPort 1.4 port yet (need to get an adapter). It does not seem to charge the laptop. Just my experiences so far and some of these issues may eventually be solved. But even if not I think I'm glad I got it.
Finally a good review of this. I've been searching for months! Also, this monitor has been out for quite a while now, and it's still not available to buy... Why?
@@misatzu With a 1:1 display you can open multiple screens and you wouldn't have to scroll down. Video viewing would have bars but who cares. You wrong about vision, when staring ahead I see up and down as well as left and write or maybe you didn't notice (our eyes are circles separated by only aprox. 2 inches, so two overlapping circles). 4:3 were great for productivity and close to the 1:1 that I want. 8k would be 7680x7680.

Probably a few years off, at minimum. 5-10 years until it's reasonably priced. Which is actually good news since most people will need that long to save up for the GPU's to drive it the way that market is going.
@@17Codiferus Probably have to wait for a Displayport standard higher than 1.4. Ordinary 4K 144Hz will soon be around the $1000 mark with freesync slightly under and G-sync slightly above. They are due to release this year but early next year may be more realistic.
This (or something like this) is my dream monitor. I like the huge amount of pixels for productivity, and I want the 2160 height to plug in my PS5 and Switch to it so I can game in my down time. This should work great with my 5k iMac too!
Only the new 2080ti can run 4k 60fps for the new games out a little more for older ones and is really good if the game is well optimised. But for most games out there the Ti is the only way to run them in 4k and get 60fps+. You would probably need two of the next Gen cards to run this screen at 60fps again resolution increase is really outpacing. What graphics cards are capable of doing.

Besides a graphics card is an investment you still want it to perform 60fps maxed out a few years down the line anyway on new titles. So yeah we could get a 10 series to 4k but it isn't going to be 4k as good as it could look kind of thing. At least the 10 series will be able to game maxed out at 2k for several more years yet before they start to not be capable anymore.
@@TheRagingStorm98 The visual difference is negligible. Antialiasing is almost pointless on 4k displays (look it up), and uses up to 45% of gpu resources which is roughly the difference between a 1070ti and a 1080ti. Blurr effect is visually awful on any game and uses some resources. In online multiplayer fps games where most of the gamers spend their time this days, turning off effects, shadows actually gives players an advantage. now that you've become a tech expert, you should take the next step and install gentoo in your librebooted t60.
As the monetization police would say, I forking love it.
Fudge that goshdarnit!
FINALLY !
Now let's get 2080Ti's for maximum 900$ or Euro, and it would start making sense buying so many pixels.
@@TheRagingStorm98 in dlss enabled titles it could do it though upscaling from a 3440x1440 image.
Thanks Linus (0:08), I spilled my coffee over my whole desk. And laptop. And on monitor. Actually on both... Next time, some "no drinking" sign please!
everybody is busy talking about the intro but I say
that ad transition was sick!!!!!!!!!!!

That intro was amazing. No words. Instantly liked

Why?
Because 3/4 of device out there can't use it at it's fullest, it's not for consumer
It's ultra hard to make the panel, so now they got the advertisement "Linus" they will bring them out
M. E. It’s available at Microcenter
Adem Foster It is for consumer
They literally have an Amazon link where its being sold, in the description.
The intro was great.... but but..... no segway into the sponsor..... he just put it in without lubing us up...
Never slide in without lubrication.
wow that intro was a throwback and a half. haven't seen those ads in years
One of the best intros yet!
Yo i was not ready for this intro
When Linus' audience is too young to know and appreciate a classic meme...
I'm still waiting for a 1:1 8k display. Yes a square.
thats the dream
a dream for cyclopes, because for anyone with a stereoscopic field of view it doesn't make sense
@@misatzu With a 1:1 display you can open multiple screens and you wouldn't have to scroll down. Video viewing would have bars but who cares. It would be great for web browsing and for productivity apps (most of these you have to scroll down, like I'm doing when writing this comment).
Dunno if I’d go full square, but I do want a hi-dpi 4x3 laptop.
@@fernarias
1st, you're talking to someone who uses a pivoted monitor as a second display (extending the horizontal display surface even more), so thanks for explaining a lot of stuff that I already know for decades. Assuming someone who's apparently not stupid to be dumber than yourself is not exactly a smart move, btw.
2nd, "you wrong" is not only wrong because it's just wrong (not to mention "left and write"), but also because I'm obviously not wrong and you're talking nonsense instead of educating yourself with the help of information that's at your fingertips. The human FoV has an aspect ratio of approx. 5:3 ... so nice try, but please don't waste my time with dim-witted trolling like that, cyclops (whatever species you may be).
That intro was so perfect! 😂
who ever wrote that intro where you reference that taco ad meme, Give them a raise. cuz that was pretty dam good
When will you start making ultrawide content?
Here was I thinking intros had peaked with the Razor phone
Does anyone actually use their monitors at max brightness? I rarely ever go beyond 25%
Mine is currently at 27% brightness... And it still hits me with 350 nits.
Rackham I don’t even have a monitor
people who tryna go blind from eye strain
Best intro yet. Please use parodies more often!
The thunderbolt 3 segment could be a whole episode imo. maybe a (New) techquickie about the 2018 and future revisions of thunderbolt 3? (it is the most bad ass thing in computing)
Linus seems to be trying to start an acting career based on the last few intros.
Based on the last few intros, he probably shouldn't
It's just 2160p ultrawide which is 4k, misleading marketing an ultrawide 5k would have twice the pixels.
Having bought one of these shortly after the RTX 3000 series came out I can confirm a 3090 has no problems at all driving this..
I love this monitor as my primary work monitor for productivity tasks (paired with a 13" macbook pro) -- I'm really missing it now that I'm spending so much time working from home on a measly 1080p 24 inch monitor.
Dat intro tho.
Keep doing this, please. You feed me memes, my life essence.
They should make the same monitor but 38" wide instead of 34", it would be more useful!!!
Can you use this on a MacBook Pro (2018) or supporting 2 computers (eg MBP & Mac Pro) to replace 2 monitors?

theres nothing more enjoyable than watching movies and playing games on ultrawide screen.
Darko Jerinic Yes.
Oh my fucking god it’s perfect, especially when you have one that has a 100Hz+ refresh rate
I am really enjoying the costumes lately. Definitely keep that going.
Yay more ultrawides are coming to market. The world needs more ultrawide love!

Okay that intro had me DEAD 😂😂😂
8k is coming out and here I am still playing on a console at 720p 20 fps
@@TrashWoodBand well then I stand corrected
Jesus that intro was just fantastic!
Greatest intro of all time, accolades deserved.
Im gona wait for 144hz aswell
Probably a few years off, at minimum. 5-10 years until it's reasonably priced. Which is actually good news since most people will need that long to save up for the GPU's to drive it the way that market is going.
@@17Codiferus 👍
@@17Codiferus Probably have to wait for a Displayport standard higher than 1.4. Ordinary 4K 144Hz will soon be around the $1000 mark with freesync slightly under and G-sync slightly above. They are due to release this year but early next year may be more realistic.
Thumbs up for linus's Maths

Wow, the comment section of linus' videos are getting super spammy eh? It's pretty must a waste to try and find any intellectual comments these days.
That $1669 hurts to look at
hmmm why am i watching this video again?

The intros in this channel it's absolute amazing! :v
This (or something like this) is my dream monitor. I like the huge amount of pixels for productivity, and I want the 2160 height to plug in my PS5 and Switch to it so I can game in my down time. This should work great with my 5k iMac too!
I barely gotten into 4K gaming and already... 5K!!!
@@TheRagingStorm98 Turn off anti aliasing(which is pointless on 2k+ displays), blur effect, shadows to medium and pretty much any game can run 4k 60fps on a gtx 1080 . This monitor which is not really a 5k has almost identical graphic card requirements as a 4k display,
@@constantin58 If anyone games at 4k they don't want to have to set shit to medium and turn of things to just about get 60 fps lol 😂 we are talking maxing out wich is what these new cards are supposed to do but don't really offer 4k 60fps maxed unless you talking about the Ti model.
Lol
@@TheRagingStorm98 The visual difference is negligible. Antialiasing is almost pointless on 4k displays (look it up), and uses up to 45% of gpu resources which is roughly the difference between a 1070ti and a 1080ti. Blurr effect is visually awful on any game and uses some resources. In online multiplayer fps games where most of the gamers spend their time this days, turning off effects, shadows actually gives players an advantage. (less distractions, better focus and visibility) You don't absolutely need a 2080TI for a 4k monitor to enjoy it. Even if i had the money I'd rather buy an additional gaming laptop for the price difference between gtx 1080 and 2080ti.

These intros have been fire lately. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
00:07 You ditch both of them and go with 16:10 and a resolution that can be rendered at a reasonable frame rate.

God, wouldn't it be great to have a single 4k ultrawide 11520x2160 that can "split" itself in software to present 3 different monitors to the PC while being 1 panel.
That's my multimedia/content consumption wet dream, right there. Twitch on the left, game in the middle, porn on the right where the hand belongs.
So you wanted 12 K panel that turns into three 4K panels?
@@marklavine8088
It wouldn't be 12k, really. Then you're talking about 11520x7000-ish.
What I'm thinking of is effectively 3 4k monitors, without bezels, side-by-side in one frame.
Or you could get three bezel-less models. It's not good for gaming obviously, but it would be fantastic for multi-monitor.
@@michelvanbriemen3459 technically it would be 11k ;) when you say 4k you are actually referring to ONLY the number of horizontal pixels. This causes lots of confusion because it's basically marketing. This is why some 21:9 manufacturers claim 4k today when it's really just wqhd.
Does anyone know if the bugs for 15” MacBook Pro’s got patched for this monitor?
just got this monitor. love it. works great on 2017 mbp 15" running mojave
I got mine last week too. I'm really enjoying it and out of the three games I've played on it, the frame rates have been higher than acceptable.
Yes! This is the monitor I've been waiting for! (Keeps watching, hears price,) wait, never mind. I'll wait until one shows up on Craigslist for $700, thanks.
But can it run cry... *Cough* BUT CAN IT RUN LTT ON 1080P60FPS
No because LTT video's are never 60 fps. (Except maybe the one about the Xbox One S.)
