Hello Sara ! Nightwish fans here, your reaction just appeared on our radar..
Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band, performing in 2013 at Wacken Open Air festival, in front of a 82k+ audience.
About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra, London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners.
As I could see, you loved it. You appreciate all the key elements of a Nightwish show: the intricate classical-structured "cinematic score" composition, the high level of musicianship of all band members, the stellar vocals and charisma of Floor Jansen, our Dutch metal queen. As I remember, you reacted already to Floor Jansen's "Phantom Of The Opera" performance in Beste Zanger 2019, but this is your first Nightwish experience.
Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco Hietala is the Bassist and vocals .And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition.
Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her.
There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps.

Welcome to the magical world of Nightwish!
Nightwish has been using the London Philharmonic Orchestra or part of it in the background with their studio albums since 2004. Also two different choirs (adults, children) as needed. In live concerts, they play it from the backing tape and perform themselves on top of it.
Everything that happens on stage is for telling a story. Fireworks, pyrotechnics, lights, led panels, background music (philharmonic orchestra) and music played by each band member, vocals ... And each song has its own story. And because every story is different, that’s why Nightwish sounds different in every song and within the song there are variations depending on the course of the story.
The energy this band always creates with their crowd connection is incredible!!
Get on the Nightwish express. It takes you away. You don’t know where they’ll take you but you know it going to be friggin’ epic.

Best method for reacting to Nightwish that I figured from watching reactors and discovering them recently and exploring their catalog myself:
Keep the particularly long and complex songs listed below, if you have not watched them already, for after you have seen all the more standard ones from the 4 live shows mentioned in the numbered list:
- Ghost Love Score (Wacken) 10 minutes
- The Poet and the Pendulum (Wembley) 14 minutes >>> Doing some research on the background story for this song is very important to be able to appreciate the meaning of the lyrics.
- Greatest Show on Earth (Tampere) 21 minutes
1- Just do all the Wacken 2013 songs, they are all great.
2- Then the Wembley 2015 ones that are not part of the Wacken show.
3- Then the remaining songs from Tampere 2015 that were not in the previous 2 shows mentioned.
4- Then the older songs from Buenos Aires 2018 that were not in the previous 3 shows mentioned.
5- To see what they can do with a cover and if you like Marco's singing, watch their interpretation of Pink Floyd's High Hopes.
6- Then you can explore Floor's versatility with her band ReVamp's live performances of the songs Disdain at Graspop and Wild Card at Bloodstock.
7- And finally go in the deep end of the Floor talent pool by reacting to her performances on Beste Zangers in the order the episodes aired.
For the first 4 steps, you can alternate between shows, but I would recommend to still only take songs that are not performed in the previous shows mentioned, as they are ordered in audio quality from best to worst.
From watching a lot of reactions, in my opinion this is the most efficient order to discover the rabbit hole that is Nightwish and Floor Jansen.

Great suggestions, but she would miss the new songs and I find shoemaker and How's The Heart (LYRIC), which both are epic. And also, even if it is Floor she liked I am pretty sure she would love the Nightwish version of Phantom of the opera with Tarja...
@@JanOlofSvensson To me there is plenty of stuff to watch, possibly giving them time to record live performances of the new songs, which would be much better than recordings and as we all know that Nightwish is at their best live. Also I am a Floor fan, so I recommend Floor performances and the Tarja fans are welcomed to suggest her performances to their heart's content and if the comment gets enough thumbs up, the reactors will probably react to those.

Good morning from the Netherlands. What a lovely comment you made. I tried to figger it out what kind of music you like the most. I am 80 years old and since one and a half year I like symfony metal, espacialy Nightwish, the most. Perhaps also because Floor is Dutch, but living with her husband and child in Finland and in Sweden.
Listen to "the Poet and the pendulum" (written by Thomas of the band who came in a depression when the first leadsinger suddenly had to leave the band). Furthermore "Yours an empty hope" a song with an enormous amount of crawls, from Marco and Floor. Floors does the low crawls, unbelievable. And for an other genre, listen to "Beste zanger", Floor with the Lady Gaga song Slallow. Floor can sing anything and is the absolute Queen or Goddess of metal.

Non habla Spaniol but your reaction was very enthusiastic and easy to like. Considering what you said about Ghost Love Score, it seems like you might enjoy going through the Nightwish rabbit hole all the way. For everyone who starts their NW journey with GLS from Wacken 2013 I'd suggest continuing with Storytime from the same concert, and then taking as many songs from that same concert as you can handle. Ever Dream is also cut from the same fantasy metal cloth as GLS and Storytime.
Wacken 2013 live was great in that you have great quality video feeds readily available on YT, and Nightwish happens to be an amazing live band. If you keep yourself confined to the song selection from this concert for now then there's no further need to consider these things too deeply until you get all of that done. When you're searching through their extensive list of released songs you might notice that there are other Nightwish lead vocalists in addition to Floor Jansen. She's the 3rd lead vocalist, so just keep in mind that their older stuff has different people doing that part. These different vocalists can sometimes be a bit of a sore spot for the community, so keep in mind that if you react to Tarja or Anette it absolutely will draw controversial discussion between those who still cherish them dearly and those who want to listen to Floor only and that's it.
If you want to branch out to other stuff immediately then I'd advise against reacting to Poet and the Pendulum, and similarly to The Greatest Show on Earth for now. They are both multi-part musical journeys that either need a lot of listening and research and more listening to slowly get into, or research and preparation before listening if you want to use your first reaction as meaningful channel content. Your reactions to Poet and TGSOE should probably be two highlights of your Nightwish reaction experience, for both your audience and perhaps for yourself too, so it makes sense to build up the anticipation. The new album Human :||: Nature is also something of a spiritual sequel to TGSOE and the Endless Forms Most Beautiful album in general, so it makes sense to listen to TGSOE first before uncorking the new album. Human Nature only has official lyrics videos and one music video available for now, since covid-19 cancelled all their planned live shows.

I went to this concert in 2013 in anticipation of Annette the previous singer. The tickets for Wacken must be ordered more than 1 year in advance. Then 10 months before the break came with Annette, remember Floor was only 10 months in the band as a replacement to end this tour. When I heard in the media that Tuomas asked Floor, I knew it was going to be an unforgettable experience, I knew Floor from her previous bands After Forever and Revamp, I knew that she was a perfect match for Nightwish, she made each of the songs her own. Was in Wacken again in 2018 and for this year I had a ticket for the Nightwish concert in Frankfurt, which was postponed due to Covid 19.
Yess it is like magic hearing those keys, drums, guitar, base line and above that all
Floor´s powerful yet soft vocals and her presence on the stage. So epic, n mesmerizing.

Live is best - from Wacken 2013 which has ultra hi-quality recording: 1) Storytime, 2) EverDream, 3) Romanticide (harder metal but an example of her jaw-dropping 4-5 octave range at the end), 4) Song of Myself - and all the rest from the same concert is incredible. And there are great operatic vids of her like Phantom of the Opera and so much more. Great reaction to the greatest female singer on the planet, I am totally in love with her voice also her performance. She is also a stunningly beautiful woman. I am a Sabaton fan and Floor Jansen has done a few backing vocals for Sabaton. Well she would do as her husband is Hannes van Dahl the drummer for Sabaton. Nightwish are my second favourite band as they are a brilliant band with incredible sound. Floor sings the end credits to Sabaton's latest release Christmas Truce which is absolutely stunning, it's about the real events that happened on Christmas day 1914 ( WW1). Hi Sara... I know u got Gabriels list of songs. U do not have to go those in order. But if you want to see good show from them see Buenos Aires concerts Slaying the Dreamer, and I Want my Tears Back. Last one is where fan's sing to band before song, and the song is such fun for all band members. In Wacken concert good ones are Dark chest of Wonders(opening song in that show), Nemo, Romanticide, and few other's.
Wembley has Shudder before Beatiful as opening song and it is good too. But nice react Sarah's Life. Hope you will do more of NW and some Floor's cover she has done in Covid time. Check Floor's channel on YT. Stay safe Sara
WELCOME TO THE PHENOMENON THAT IS THE GENRE OF SYMPHONIC METAL AND WELCOME TO THE NIGHTWISH ARMY.
This was the Wacken Open Air Festival Concert back in 2013, and there were over 82,000 people at this concert. the current singer is from the Netherlands, and a majority of the band members are from Finland, although the woodwinds player is from England. THE BAND IS NOT NEW. They released their first album in 1996.
SO WHAT STYLE OF MUSIC ACTUALLY IS NIGHTWISH????
Nightwish is actually one of the groups credited with the CREATION of the Metal Sub-genre of Symphonic Metal (according to Wikipedia!). Symphonic Metal in general only borrows the hard driving double kick drums, and the hard grungy style guitars and bass from Metal. However, in SYMPHONIC METAL the guitar is not the primary focal point, it is in fact the keyboards and their movie-scorish sounding orchestral sound. The keyboard player Tuomas Holopainen (first name pronounced as Too-oh-mas) is the composer of all of the music arrangements and is the leader of the group. He is a personal huge lover of movie scores, which is where a lot of the movie-scorish style sound of the keyboards comes from (which is the primary focal point of ALL of Nightwish’s music instrumentally). In Symphonic Metal 90-95% of all Symphonic Metal bands are all female fronted. Currently only Kamelot, Serenity, and a hand full of other Symphonic Metal bands even have male singers, and they are normally referred to as Symphonic Power Metal. The female fronted bands are the ones usually referred to over in Europe as ‘Symphonic Metal’. The most popular being Nightwish, Within Temptation, Epica, and Delain. When Symphonic Metal first started the female singers ALL used an operatic style of singing, but as the Genre has evolved over the last 20+ years in the UK since Nightwish came long when they released their FIRST album back in 1996, they have adopted more of a contemporary style of singing like Floor uses currently.
Floor Jansen is the 3rd and current Lead Singer since Nightwish released its first album in 1996, and she is from the Netherlands. Keep in mind when Floor did this concert (Wacken Open Air in 2013), she had not been with Nightwish for very long, she was actually a FILL-IN for this particular tour. Nightwish was in the middle of the Imaginearum World Tour when they parted ways with their SECOND Lead Singer Anette Olzen (from Sweden), and Tuomas (pronounced as Too-oh-mas) called Floor and asked her if she could learn their entire set list in 48 hours and then fill-in for them for the rest of the tour. Within the next few short months, the band posted their first Official Live Performance video since they fired their first lead singer Tarja Turunen at the end of November 2005. During Anette's entire tenure with the band, Nightwish did not post ONE single solitary live performance video on their official RUclips channel. Hmmm? Curious?
At the end of this Imaginearum World Tour (just a few months later!), (As Floor tells the story in an interview) the Band pulled both Floor Jansen and Troy Donokley aside and asked them to be official members of the band. Floor said both her and Troy both had tears in their eyes. Troy had been a guest musician with the band on such official videos like The Islander, but never an official member of the band. The rest as they say ... is history.

• Emppu Vuorinen - All guitars (been with the band since its inception) - (His name is pronounced Ehm-poo)

• Kai Hahto - drums (NOT APART OF THE BAND YET WHEN THIS CONCERT WAS FILMED - Kai was hand picked by the groups original drummer Jukka Nevalainen to replace him when he had to stepped down for medical reasons listed below. Kai is a personal friend of Jukka’s, as well as was Jukka's drum teacher)
FORMER BAND MEMBERS SEEN IN THIS CONCERT AT THE WACKEN OPEN AIR FESTIVAL FROM THE YEAR 2013:
• Jukka Nevalainen - drums ( original drummer from 1997-2014 and is who you see playing drums in this concert at the Wacken Open Air Festioval Show from 2013. He had to step down for severe medial reasons, and handpicked his replacement. Jukka nearly died from a period of 2 straight years of severe insomnia, and had to be hospitalized because of it. Even though he stepped down as drummer, according to Toumas, he is the CEO of the Nightwish Corporation now. So he is still very much a part of Nightwish.)

1. Poet And The Pendulum - This is one of the corner stone songs for this band. I would RESEARCH THIS SONG BEFORE REACTING TO IT. I would also not do this one right away, I would build up to this and get a few Nightwish songs under your belt before doing it. As stated above Floor Jansen is their THIRD Singer. Their first singer sang entirely in the operatic syle and was named Tarja Terunen. She was Nightwish Singer for TEN YEARS. Her last concert was THE END OF AN ERA concert filmed the end of November of 2005. Immediately after the conclusion of the END OF AN ERA concert Tarja received a letter called "The Open Letter" from the band telling her they were parting ways with her. Poet And the Pendulum is about the emotional heart wrenching experience of events that lead up to that decision, and the backlash from fans after ward. SO this song is extremely INTENSELY emotional. Doing your reseach into this before hand will help you understand why the song is so emotional and why it was written in 5 acts like it was.

2. Greatest Show On Earth - I would RESEARCH THIS SONG BEFORE REACTING TO IT. I would also not do this one right away, I would build up to this and get a few Nightwish songs under your belt before doing it. This song is about the creation of the universe, the big bang, and evolution. Be ready because this is a 20 min thrill ride that only feels like 3 or 4 minutes long. This one in particular will show off both her dynamic range and ability to change styles in a song, like Ghost Love Score. I think you might want to look for the Tampere Finland Show because it has FIREWORKS coordinated with the music. Also, I think its a good idea to look for the Tampere Finland show with lyrics, so you can follow along with the lyrics, as there is a lot to take in for this one. Look for the one with Lyrics and Fireworks both.

👏👏 bravo! Felicitaciones, primero, por entregarte a este (para ti) nuevo mundo musical, segundo, por tu reacción (muy simpática y auténtica) y tercero, por reconocer en Nightwish y sus integrantes, una banda talentosa y que nos llena de emociones 😊👍.
Ya te han recomendado muchas canciones a las cuales puedes reaccionar, si es de Nightwish hay una que me gusta mucho, se llama THE POET AND THE PENDULUM, para la cual, eso si, deberás hacer un poco de investigación con el fin de disfrutarla al máximo.....es una canción muy especial,sobre todo para el creador y genio de la banda, Tuomas (el tecladista). Así que, si tienes ganas, puedes revisar la red y encontrar mucha información al respecto. El video es el grabado en Wembley.
Por otro lado, si andas con ganas de seguir ampliando tu horizonte musical, te presento un grupo que lamentablemente ya no existe por la muerte de su vocalista, se llama Type O Negative y te recomiendo ver/escuchar la canción “Love you to death” o “Christian Woman”.

El concierto de Waken 2013 es una animalada que deberás ver y , sobre todo, escuchar canción por canción.
Pero eso solo será el principio..
Desde entonces, han sacado 2 discos más.. y muchos, muchos otros grandes conciertos con piezas increibles.
Y si, su puntillo folk, para un gallego como yo, es una de las razones principales por las que me gustan.

La que te va a caer encima.. Los fans de Nightwish son (somos) muchos y muy pesados.
Es una de las mejores bandas, sobre todo de Metal Sinfónico (esa combinación de metal, orquesta y voz poderosa femenina).
Por cierto, si la voz de Floor te gusta, espera a que escuches a Marko cantar con ella (el bajista) Tiene una de las mejores voces masculinas del metal mundial (y no me refiero a esas voces graves diabolicas.. esas las hace Floor ;) )
