I have arthritis in just my right hand, the thumb....!! and I cant do any hand needle work at all anymore and sometimes use my thumb the wrong way and the pain can be excruciating. I take an aspirin daily which helps alot as I have arthritis in my hip joints also. I didnt start quilting until I retired about ten years ago, and I studied videos and books and blogs by Lori Holt, a famous fabric and quilt designer here in the US. I learned from her that your backing fabric is just as important to complete the quilt as the fabrics in the top piece. Also the binding fabric is important and is like the frame like a picture frame around the the quilt. I usually do only one quilt at a time and do not start another until each one done. I may find a pattern I like and find the fabric, but I dont start it until current one done.
@@janusaflorida7909 The joys of getting older! I’m a magpie with both quilting and knitting, I see all the shiny things and to start them although I’m better than I used to be. I’ve known about Lori Holt for a long time but have never made any of her patterns but I fell in love with “Home Town”. I’ve managed to get the fabric and the templates (it isn’t as easy as it was getting hold of some American stuff) and am planning to do a block a month starting in January, mind you I will be machine appliqué, not needle turning!
