One thing seems to be missing from your video. It is a very useful tool for planning a build. It is call Grim Dawn tools. Planning out a build with it will make a huge difference in your build. Otherwise your stats might be all over the place if you don't use the planner. You can still play the game using what you find. The only thing is that you know what stats you are after. You will know what components and augments are needed. Also having the end game gear that you are looking for is a good idea because it gives you a reason to keep playing. While I agree to play the game your own way. I do disagree that you never use a build guide. There are some really good build guides that will teach you how to make a good build for Grim Dawn. Also if you want to chase after meta builds then a build guide is the way to go to find the meta builds faster. That is simply because the game has been out more than long enough for the players to find all of the meta builds in the game. The only time you might be able to find a meta build on your own is if you are great at theorycrafting in games like this one. If you put in the time and do all of the math yourself you can find the meta builds on your own. But still I say even then it is faster to look for meta build guides because they have already been found.
@@johnysimps1191 Yes, well to be more correct Grim Dawn is an APRG, action rpg, same genre as Diablo, Titan Quest, Tourchlight, Path of Exile and so on. Grim Dawn may seem a bit complicated at first but you will learn fast enought, just trust in the process and have fun, you won't regret it, there are so many different builds and all are playable, you choose 2 different masteries out of 9 and combine for a unique class, all depents on your style and preference, bottom line - it is lots of fun ;)
Really nice guide for beginners, well done. I just want to address an issue I found in the Farming Items and Tips. That's not how Epic and Legendary items drop. Yes, there are some rare blues or purples that specifically drop from a boss, but like 99% of them are just world drop, no rules. What you described applies to Monster Infrequents though (like your weapon), which you can target-farm on a specific boss, miniboss or just an area for an enemy type. I suggest to check the Grim Tools' item database when in doubt: if nothing is specified, it's just a random drop. I agree with you about mods, but I highly recommend getting Rainbow Filter from the get go. It doesn't change anything in the game, it just color-codes items and skills tooltips making them SO much easier to read and navigate (+100% fire damage is orange, 250 poison damage is green and so on..)

I've seen many videos in order to know if this game is worth playing in 2023 or not, but not one does a better job than this one. He answered questions I didn't know I had or didn't know how to ask properly with specific details. And I've played a lot of Arpgs, that's why I'm picky and not easily swayed into playing another one. I enjoyed everything I heard, it seems like the game I'm looking for but never found. Great stuff, well done !
Best ARPG yet. Also, it got a HUGE PATCH in December 2023, which adds a lot Of quality Of life stuff. And now all The charecters have dash from a get go. Also, DLC is coming in I believe first half Of 2024. As for The quality Of The game: it has all The Best from The genre. Totally worth all The money and even more. Challenge run potential is also decent.
If you go past the flooded passage entrance, like.. finish the bridge Go to the far right and kill the cultist leader over there, he has a chance to drop "Frizzlich's Utility Pack" a blue rarity belt I recommend it to anybody going through the first playthrough because it Adds heath and energy regen by 20+% Adds offensive and defensive ability points by 20+ Adds 2 points to 4 seperate skills Blood of Dreeg, Flame Touched, Mogdrogen's Pact, and Field Command Its very useful for starting out, and helps with tanking some of the bosses around that area.
I wished you would make videos for every game I’ll ever play, because your style is beautiful: clear recommendations on point with reasoning, quick but calm, well structured with a common thread, repeating the key hints in the end,… superbe!
I agree with all the others. Ive been playing Diablo 4 and so bored and let down by it that I went looking for a new game. Landed on this one and found your videos pretty quick. Very good job! You have helped me from the word start. Thanks for the videos keep them coming.
Very nice guide. The replayability of grim dawn is insane, so many different combinations and interesting builda to ezplore. It has it all. Are you going to dive into titan qiest as well? I believe after baldurs gate of course hahaha.
I have put this game off for so many years.. finally bought it over Christmas sale and have high hopes for the new content coming. Thanks for this guide, really helped ground me.
Found your channel because of Pathfinder WOTR. Have to say love seeing you enjoy Grim Dawn as much as I do. Still an amazing game and now Crate has more content on the way!
bro no way! I have 1k+ hours in this game and I never knew that blacksmiths had different passives!! It's so obscure that you have to mouse over the icon next to the combine button and I don't think it's ever explained in-game. Now I feel really dumb... I always craft my shiz in Devil's Crossing for nostalgia reasons haha
Grear guide! I just started playing today, but theres a lot to it haha but man, us this game scratching that itch for me! Its really gotta be the best game to come out in this genre for a while!
There is one mod that everybody should use, that only helps you visually: The mod that gives colors to all sorts of stats. It colors for example acid damage green, cold damage is light blue and so on. It makes reading items just waaaayyy more convenient and quicker without changing the items or game themselves
General VERY USEFUL tip if you have extra mouse buttons Tldr: bind "toggle alternate hotbar" to q so you can actually reach it easily Bind switch weapons to N, so you dont click it on accident. Just use the ui to switch weapons, or remember N as "next weapon" You can also bind middle mouse click to qb 6 Bind scroll up to qb 7 Bind scroll down to qb 8 If you have extra mouse buttons: Bind mouse button 4 to qb 9 And bind mouse button 5 to qb 0 Now, your hand doesnt move at all. Your sole focus with your right hand is hotbar 1-5/6 6/7-0 Are on your mouse. He touches on this briefly, but just because the main UI doesnt have a bind spot for extra mouse buttons, that doesnt mean you cant use them. Just keybind them to 9 and 0 hotbar locations, or anything around there. Much easier to solely focus on about 1-6 hotbar, as youll end up moving your hand otherwise This means 9 and 0 are pretty useless in big battles So, bind your mouse buttons to them instead You can also bind your scroll wheel middle mouse button to one, too. Just bind Camera rotate to something like "delete" and now you have another mouse button for binding an attack to
I'm 50 level of a soldier and 1 level of arcanist... (the last one was a mistake, but I cannot revert it since I occasionally insisted 1 point into the shaman, I wanted oath keeper...). I hope this combination would also not very bad... my soldier has a force wave maxed, and there is only one skill in shaman that can reinforce the force wave (with electrical damage), others don't stack... great video! I didn't know a lot of thins that you shared. Thanks!
You can revert, there is a program that works on single player and you can reset , works on offline mode only but after that you can get back to online.
Just bought this game for 2.50 on steam sale. I did my first run totally blind, Pyromancer. Had a great time. I'm starting a melee character now and will probably get the dlc
rocking demolitionist-inquisitor on veteran and having a blast, the game is truly something and you should totally play by yourself and just have fun. myself am a ridiculous glass cannon and could never take a punch in the endgame but fuck it its fun I melt stuff
I love this game, 1000+ hours, still playing. probably will be said in the clip, but the easiest thing is to store the compenents in the shared storage. If you want a character to farm, have a strong 1st character, a basic Sword and board Warder is fine Hard to kill. Blitz is one of these 1 point wonders. for starters, don't go over max points in skills, you can reset points downwards when you get gear that adds points. Some skills can be maxed, like firestrike as default attack. Some skills aren't worth it. so lowwr them to i.e. 12 / 12 and use the points somewhere else. Lastly, make a focussed build. I.e. build a purifier (awesome) that does 2 pistols, fire damage. Don't mix weapon damage, or add stuff that doesn't make sense. Bonus: always add points in physical. and ONLY add spirit etc. if its needed for equipment. and later on reset.
Something i forgot myself, Gather a starting equipment set for the first 10 levels or so. Btw my strongest character By Far is a warder (soldier shaman) that is based on 2 things: hitpoints and reflection. Does need proper equipment. But currently 43.000 hp and 451.000 reflect damage record. Enemies kill themselves attacking you. and add stuff that delays their attacks. one example is a belt that does wildgrowth. Do expect slow fights. but he just won't die :-) so you can get everywhere and no stress.
Also, Smash & Grab Awakened is a mod that just reworks levelling + loot drops. Dont use it first playthrough, like he says But it is very very useful for running through other playthroughs. It makes the game a lot more palpable. Doesnt add anything, only tweaks numbers I love smash and grab
to be honest , truth is, you can get blueprints of stuff you already have, it will show you at the bottom of the window that , "you allready learned this" or something of the sort, and you can sell the blueprint. in other words if you get a double of a certain blueprint. you can still sell it.
Great video and advice, it definitely saved me from going the boring way and following optimized build guides online! Just one question, when you say to finish the game on one difficulty before moving on to the next, you mean to finish the DLCs as well right? Or do you save them for Ultimate only?
As a new player, the multiclassing really got me overwhelmed with options. Lvl 10 seems too early to be able to multiclass. Should be opened up at a higher level or in ultimate. Idk
Bought GD last year, played one character until lev 45 ish. Tested Last Epoch for couple of months. Always coming back to PoE for some reason. Now being bit burned out, gonna give GD new chance. Heard about new patch 1.2, and also apparently new DLC coming out this year. Anyway what would u say GD does better than Path if Exile?

Great review, no bullshit much appreciated!
Absolutely great guide thank you very much
Well purple items and components on HC i do transfer to shared stash, so when idie i still have those

I use it to try classes because I couldn't decide. Regular game levels so slow 😭

Great Guide, thanks! :)
Great video

Incredible guide!
Hey guys , do you need to finish all expansions in normal and elite as well, or just kill Logorean and then move to higher difficulty?
thank you.
i would not exclude rare items, for those who want currency, for some reason green items have higher value than purple ...
Any strong builds for beginners? I would love dual pistols/rifle/x-bows classes..thanks
What is that tab things in the inventory? I don’t think I have that, or maybe I can’t find it.
Best tips !
Gonna need an update to this after the Fangs expansion, sunder is gonna make over stacking resistances less effective...
When leveling do I have to go through all dlc on all difficulties?
