Thank you. Was scratching my head as to why the washer wouldn't work. Changed the pump and made no difference. Fitted a refurb stalk as per your video and it worked. Easy!
Good clear video, I had to use pliers to get the wiring connector out and a flat screwdriver to help remove the stalk, all working as normal now so very happy
I had the same problem on my 2013 Ecosport, I opened up the stalk and rubbed the contacts with some sandpaper and they started working again. Thanks for the guide. Edit : forgot to mention, the windshield washer button wasn't working. It has two large copper contact strips inside that move when the button is pressed. I scrubbed the contact patches.
Great short and simple video! thank you mate, helped me replace my stalk as i had the same issue as you mate and now its working perfectly. videos like yours are invaluable when it comes to helping us newbies working on our cars so very much appreciated 👍
Brilliant video thanks. Did mine in a few mins, interesting that someone had done it before as my is a 2012 and the wiper stalk was date coded 2009 so obviously a common fault!
As mentioned previously, get a flat blade screw driver under the top bit of the stalk and force it apart. Don't worry, it's tough. Inside the stalk are two long contacts. Carefully get something to clean or scratch the carbon off the contacts. If you want a bit more room or need to bend the contact down a little, grab the wire end of the contact and gently lift whilst pulling back. The contact will come away with the wire. Slightly bend it down a bit and replace with the opposite movement to the above. Remember, the contact are fragile, so be very gentle with them and hold all the internals down whilst it's apart. Click the top back on, and you're away.
I tried to fix the old stalk and the pump stopped working for back and front.. The back washer was working before. Now got a stalk from breakers and both washers not working. Could it be now the pump stopped working.
I wouldn't recommend! I just opened mine up and it was pretty awkward to get it back together, I broke it another small bit and couldn't see anything useful.
Is the stalk you're fitting the same as for a Ford B-Max please ? If so would you be able to give me the part number as i have an intermittent problem with mine where the wash function does not always operate. Many thanks.
Hi pal, my front washer doesn’t seem to work however my rear one does, therefore I am doubtful that is it due to the fuse or the washer pump. Would you recommend I try this?
Its very possible it could just be a faulty pump, but can you hear the pump run at all when you uuse the front? Are you sure its not blocked in the washer lines or jets 👍
Hi both my wipers and water dosent work all which is on the lever that you showed on your video. Do you think this is the problem just replace the lever?
@ALLTHINGSJIM Hi all fuses checked. Replaced with new fuses and still nothing. When you click the stalk you hear a click down near the fuse box? Any ideas? Even my local mechanic is struggling. Many thanks
Its almost impossible to be able to diagnose something over the internet, if you can hear a click by the bcm / fusebox try testing the relay for it thats in there, then if thats ok youll need to see if theres power and an earth / signal upto the stalk plug then the stalk itself with a multimeter/ test light if everything it ok upto thay point it may well be the stalk 👍
Now lets say both my front and rear wipers work, but only the back will spray. Ive heard its a dirty washer switch, would it be as simple as removing it as you did in the video and cleaning the contacts with alcohol, let dry and reconfigure? Would hate to replace to pump to find out its actually a faulty switch. Thanks!
You may find its actuall just the washer pumps getting blocked, when you pull it out theres a rubber grommet with a mesh on take that out and clean the mesh and put the pump back in, youll probably find it works then 👍
@@ALLTHINGSJIM I ended up getting a new pump, installed it and still got the same issue, so we just swapped the lines so the front would work. Looks like I need a switch then.
Ah brill, presume the indicator stalk is the same? Have an issue where ours has a bit of play which means it can stick on. Had a replacement stalk console for years just been putting it off because I assumed I'd have to take the whole wheel off the column!
Thank you for the clearest video I could hope for. I changed my stalk with absolutely no problems.
Thats great news 😊

Thanks for the great video, just bought a 2013 and annoyingly the washers don't work, all sorted now cheers 🥂
I have a 2013 as well that doesn't work. Are these instructions 100% correct or are there some other little things?

Very helpful. Changed the fuse and the pump but that didn’t fix it. Followed your instructions to replace the stem and it’s fixed.
Perfect, this helped. Didn’t even need to remove the bottom part under the wheel, even easier! :) Thanks!
Thank you! Worked perfectly and saved me going to a garage!
Yay, had to scroll a bit to find this, but worth it, thanks!
