Sir, you saved me my day. Just when my mot finishes I started to have a problem with my washers. Rear didnt work too, ended up chsnging the pump (15f) - and now rear worked and front didnt. Seen your video. 15 minutes later it worked. In my case, plastic inside was so worn out I had to bend the plate a bit so it would make contact. And it did. Thank you, hero.
thanks for the vid, had a bit of trouble because the spring jumped out but was able to assemble again. i also used electronic cleaner and it did the job. Now the switch works, saved me 100€.
Thanks Brian, I had the same fault on my wife's Mk7 and changed the pump before I figured it must be the switch. Took the contacts out and cleaned both, refitted tested, job done. 👍
Thank you Brian.. top vid.. mot is due so done all the checks before booking the car in.. and the front washers not working but back is.. popped off the casing using a spoon😂.. the spring on the top side popped out but easy to get back in.. cleaned the terminal with wet and dry like you showed.. put back together and works perfectly.. only took about 15 minutes but saved me a few quid.cheers mate.. keep up the great videos
Firstly, l bought new washer pump and put it on not working. Then l decided to order new swith from friend but after seeing your video immediately try it and its working great. My order for new Swith cancelled. Thank you very much.
Thanks Brian, managed to fix mine in situ. fiddliest job ever but it now works, Removing the unit is definitely the best way, struggled to get the springs and unit back in place, that took longer than cleaning the contacts. Maybe contact cleaner spray whilst giving the switch a good work out might work too.
Happy to have come across this video. Was about to spend money on a new pump unnecessarily. Thanks Brian!!

Thank you so very much for this video tutorial. You have saved me £50.00 to replace a part that just needed cleaning. You are a star.

Spring in mine balled up, so I have just ordered a new one but it was worth a go until it got launched at the floor.

Thanks Brian.... after checking fuse then pump just left with switch to check. Followed your vid and hey presto screen washers back in operation... 👍
Pleased to hear its been some help. Seems to be a common problem.
Did you disconnect the battery when unclipping the cover? And did fully remove the stalk or do it while attached
@@Xplorati0N Hi, didn't disconnect battery but did remove stalk fully as opening stalk and cleaning the contacts is fiddly.
