I heard someone refer to the teleportation rooms as "the robot cemetery" recently. This song perfectly describes that concept. I had never thought of the boss refights as such a thing.
So melancholic. Gives me a vibe of the hunters all thinking about what got them to where they were at that point in time. X mourning all the "lives" he's taken. Axl still coming to terms with the fact that his "DNA" so to speak is fueling this new uprising. Zero wondering just how it got this way and how long he has to keep fighting. Probably thinking about why Sigma turned thanks to the virus to begin with.
I replayed this stage in MMX Legacy Collection 2 recently, and I noticed the giant golden structure resembles a bamboo plant. Given that the stage takes place on the way to the moon, it reminded me a lot of the old Japanese folk tale about Princess Kaguya... It's one of those things that I never noticed at all until playing it all these years later.
Some might say, you're not really fighting the robot masters again, it's just the heroes remembering their battles before they finally fight the final boss. The music gives the impression that they are sad knowing who they have to kill in order to achieve peace once again
One of the few songs from the game to deviate from the repetitive instrumentation of intense electric guitars, along with the Save/Load theme. Helps it to stand out even more.
I mean the OST in this game has a buttrock vibe to it and it goes more into a Sonic Adventure 1 direction which is kinda new to the series. I do like most of the OST from this game, I do wouldn't say its the best OST of the overall X franchise.
I remember seeing a comment on brawl's extnesion of this, telling that this is pretty much the opposite of soul asylum. I can't agree more. Soul asylum seems like a graveyard and has a dark atmosphere, and the track there sounds unheavenly, which is the opposite of this one which sounds like eternal peace. Also, the portal room has a gold radiant overall look into it, which contrasts the bleak aesthetics of soul asylum.
I like the chanting you hear in the music, makes it more.. divine/sacred? With the atmosphere being set and the guitar playing softly, it does feel liek a farewell or depressing atmosphere. Or rather like being "alone"/isolated in space.
For real X8 has one of the most saddest soundtracks of the franchise. and this is a great example. I think it fits perfectly, we are talking about the last game of the X series. well... not counting X Dive...
This is it. The final battle is coming up. Everything you fought for. Everything you've probably died and gotten a game over for. it all comes to this. The Gateway to Sigma. The hardships, the memories, the bulb nipples. What are you doing? Go ask @Maverick DeCero for a copy of MMX8 on PC and start playing it again.
It is a great song!! ❤ You can feel the weariness and sadness felt by both X and Zero: now eternally wishing this endless struggle; the endless death of countless Reploids - Maverick or not.......would simply end......... 💔 Thank you so much for your comment; so very appreciated...as always!! ☺️. And please be sure to check out my other videos as well!!! - J0 E B -

gamergrad81 what he meant is that Brawl’s channel got terminated and the extended OST playlists are gone too, that means that hopefully more people will come to hear this theme
Ohhh ok. Got ya! Hopefully there are other lesser known channels that will have these deleted tracks available for everyone. 🤗 If there is a particular track you'd like to see uploaded let me know and I might be able to help! 😉 - |J0\E/B|
