It is an interesting one because Bristol City (1901) were a league club nearly 20 years before Bristol Rovers (1920) and had finished runners up in the top tier and the FA Cup final before Bristol Rovers were even eligible.
As a Gas Head and pausing the video immediately, sadly City are the bigger team in terms of size, money, fan base and the fact they were in the old league 1 in the 80’s. Rovers have never been higher in my time than the league 2

The Non-League play-off final - they did take an impressive following, especially considering they don't get anywhere near filling their 11k stadium, but was probably more in the region of 30-35k when taking into account sponsors, comps and all other hospitality. Great video though. Only came across it after it was linked on the Bristol City Fans Forum, One Team In Bristol, but will definitely check out the other vids. Top marks for the effort put into making these.

No, not many people know this but there were actually 47,000 Bristol Rovers supporters. Grimsby realised that they were up against a massively superior club in all respects and the supporters decided that there was no point in turning up. So for the only time in history, no away fans turned up at Wembley. GAS fact.

Bristol City are the bigger club, more seasons in the top flight and runners up one season (Bristol Rovers have never been in the top flight), Bristol City have a bigger stadium, have been in the higher leagues of the football league for a lot longer, I would even say they have a bigger fanbase as well.

We had signed some players on big long contracts when in the old first division and then got relegated 3 times on the spin the club was in serious trouble Rovers did everything they could to make sure we went bust and tried nicking our Ground for next to nothing! Anyway 8 players tore up their contracts and we were slowed to transfer our assets to a newly formed company (in a loophole that has now been closed)
