John Ateyo played for England whilst playing for a 2nd division club. I was fortunate to have seen him play his last game against Ipswich town in which he scored the last of his 350 goals. I also remember being in a near 39000 crowd in the old stadium when City got 3 valuable points against Liverpool before taking near 17000 fans to Coventry for a 2:2 draw and 1st division survival. Good old days.
Well my apologies. I was only about 9 years old and at Staple Hill Junior school when I saw him play. Had the heady days of the first division for a couple of seasons before leaving Bristol and joining the Royal Navy. I will have to come back after 50 years to read the plaque on the statue.

Grounds coming on, and a decent size city. I fancy them Prem by 2026. I used follow Port Vale 80's/90's. Vale used batter both City & Rovers.. Cities ground is looking Prem and the gas well :)

On club facilities and operations… (and this might be a bit boring too, but is significant for all clubs)… Bristol City were the first EFL club to achieve GreenCode accreditation. A lot of power from solar panels from the refurb, local food and drink suppliers, subsidised bus to ground scheme etc. Also the new training facility is a neat mini stadium with green credentials and I’d bet the players would praise the training ground facilities - a million miles away from what it used to be. The women’s game has grown in stature here too and used Ashton Gate last season like the men’s team (sadly not the best season, but the women’s game is promoted and supported). Premier league ready ?
