I was also cautious about not using an SPG, so I use both the POD with gauge as a back up. You'll need two high pressure port on your stage one to do this
RE: POD. I have a POD and a SPG that is connected to my first stage with a "y". When it comes to Scuba, redundancy is key. Plus the POD gives SAC rate which is cool. Great review, keep it up! Happy Diving!
I was shocked with the display at first. Wasn’t very bright compared to shearwater teric, however once I started diving it the display is actually very good and easy to see and read. Not overpowering. Can see in any sun light condition.
I hate also about the D4 (old Model) that it locks as well when you by accident had the computer still switched to Freedive Mode when going for a scuba dive. Then you can‘t use it for 24 hrs. Happened to me in vacations sometimes and was annoying.

I have many hundreds of dives on a d5 good is it functions well and us very conservative so you wont get bent several friend's that dive shearwaters have. The bad is battery life is to short if youe doing several dives i need to connect to a power station also watch is a bit naggy with to many alerts and warnings
Exactly the same, I was shopping for one as I watched this, abaonded it when I heard that. Why lock, it could just display a warning icon for 48 hours, or have an option to clear the lock and log an event that the lock was cleared
From “suunto”webpage In this state, you significantly increase your risk of decompression sickness (DCS). Decompression information is not available for the next 48 hours after surfacing. It is possible to dive with the device when the algorithm is locked, but instead of the decompression information, Locked is shown. Diving while the algorithm is locked resets the algorithm lock time back to 48 hours when you surface.
Great review and channel Love my D5, with Tank Pod Agree on weak display on land. Also have Suunto Cobra SPG

Great video again! Sold my Eon Steel and bought a D6i but kept the pod. Scuba is the sport in the world!

Nice video. Loved the detailed information
even if you add a pod, you should keep you spg!
Awesome!! Thanks!🤙🏼 also, where’d you get your flamingo shirt? Haha
You did not mention the fact that the computer cannot be shut down . for me, it is a deal braker. I didn't know that before I bought it.

It has definitely been quite frustrating!

what is your favorite dive computer? and is there a dive computer that you wish you could own?
The lock feature sounds absurd.
That's why it has the option to change the settings, so you wouldn't lock it up for 48 hours 😅😅
"I really like having less bottom time and longer safety stops" was about where he lost me.
Huge con is the need to calibrate the campus after charging the phone.
Takes 5 seconds to calibrate, so not really a "huge con"...

Lost my business at “it locks”. I’m out
Same ..I was just about to buy one but that's a game changer for me

Me too, was just about to buy one, thought I'd scan for more reviews. It locks!!! I. Am. Out.
Very bad profile actually
