I love the features on the Peregrine TX...For recreational divers like myself, this covers all the spots I need. The large, colored screen is easy to see. Ease of use and some degrees of customization are also great. Plus, Peregrine now comes with AI and Digital Compass too. What a great dive computer!!
Hi @linyasen5, thanks for the comment! That large screen is a real benefit for any diver out there, and AI + Compass is a nice upgrade to this one. Did you remember to subscribe to the newsletter? You can sign up here: www.divein.com/diving/best-dive-computer/
This is amazing! With side-by-side evaluations, it highlights all the key features, durability, and performance! This engaging review aids diving enthusiasts in making informed decisions! Thank you Divein!
This is without question the best video I have seen on dive computers. Being new to diving this is exactly what I needed, all the information clear and concise without attitude. So many I have seen are judgmental against the new diver who doesn't want to spend on a high end technical computer. Thank you for your great videos! The Cressi Leonardo is probably the one I will start with
Garmin MK3i 51mm is my favourite because it can do it all as a multisport smartwatch and is still a kick ass technical diving computer with air integration and crazy battery life. The dive readiness is a useful crossover of the smartwatch and dive computer features. I've been toying between the Garmin MK3i and Shearwater Perdix 2 AI for my next computer.
@@DIVEindotcom and I'd love see what happens with the Garmin Fenix 8 when it's dived deeper than 40m especially when the case is rated to more than double that, 10ATM or 90m.
The Garmin MK3i would be my favourite for sure and probably my next big purchase. I love that it's so versatile and can be used for so many different activities, and reduce the number of devices I need.
As previously mentioned, great video guys well done. My favourite for diving warm water (holiday) dives is the Shearwater Teric. Bright clear display with plenty of dive information especially when linked to the tank pod. Its small enough to wear as standard watch also on a liveaboard for example and not having (email, text) notifications is a plus, im on holiday relaxing. Ive seen, own, used and discussed the others on the list but keep coming back to the Teric every time. Keep up the great videos guys.👌
Love the garmin mk3i, it is very versatile and seems amazing to have as an every day watch but then when you go into dive mode so can the watch you wear everyday. Loved the review video and I actually learned a lot more than I thought I would.
To be honest, I wasn't a sportswatch person before but now wearing it everyday for the last year, I am really impressed with it, both above and below the water. Do you own one as well?
I have the Garmin Descent G1(non-solar) - As someone moving towards either technical or divemaster it was a great choice (especially secondhand in great condition and very affordable). It's a big step up from my old Suunto Zoop (non-Novo! That old!). The Descent G1 is awesome, like noted, above and below water. A close competitor to a traditional "smartwatch". My problem and the reason I drrool over the Garmin MK3i 51mm? Presbyopia (I need reading glasses) - I just can't read the small screen fonts 1/2 the time. Having a bigger, better, brighter display will make a *huge* difference. Ohhh, Air Integration too... like, duh! So journey progression will be towards Air Integration, and for a dedicated "smart watch" that does all of the tech diving plus everything else + air.... Clear winner for me. Great video! Gracias!
Hey, have you had trouble with the Garmin Descent G1 reading it in low light conditions? or with the small buttons as he mentions in the video? Doesn't it have like a light button as most wrist watches?
The Garmin MK3i is a bit pricey, but when it comes to life supporting gear I say splurge a little bit and get a little more than you need. I’ve always dove Mares computers, but after getting the MK3i earlier this year I will never use anything else. Save your money, and get the best computer you can afford. You won’t regret it!
@@sunhead-x not comparable. It can be used for rec diving. But it limits are 40m and nitrox up to 40%. No support for air integration. Not sure if it records entry and exit point either. But if you just want to do a dive now and then while travel, then the Fenix should be ok.
Garmin MK3i is my favourite. You can basically do everything with it inside and outside the water, and it also has very long lasting battery and lots of customizable features.
As a backpacker and diver, I’m all about the versatility both above and below the water. The fact that it will grow with me and my diving just pushes this way over the top.
Hi there, Which one did you find fit that spot as a diver and backpacker? btw. did you remember to subscribe to our newsletter at: www.divein.com/diving/best-dive-computer/
My favorite computer is the Shearwater Perdix 2 because it has trimix capability and it has a bigger screen (getting older). It has all the functions that you could possibly want from dive computer (AI, compass, vibration alarm). I have an old Oceanik Geo2 watch, the functionality of which I have slowly outgrown. I'm doing extended range deco dives with two nitrox mixes, but planning to start trimix courses soon.
Been on the lookout for my first dive computer and this review helped! Peregrine TX checks almost all of my boxes as I can get basic customisation, large coloured screen and now AI and DC!
I would like the Suunto Ocean as it has gps and you can see the dive profile in 3D after the dive. I really hope they will add the compass feature while diving.
I have snorkeled a lot but new to diving in Florida this summer. This is something I want to keep doing. I'm retired now, so I now have time. I like the Sunnto Novo because of price and ease of going thru the settings. I loved the video, it's a great help for someone new. Thanks Rick D. Bronson Fl.
Shearwater is my favorite brand: excellent design, quality build, flawless operation. Shearwater customer support ix unparalleled IMO. Perdix 2 is my choice and Peregrine TX is my wife's. Keep up the good work!
Great video. My favorite is the Garmin Descent Mk3i 43mm because I dive all year round, both on vacation and in cold lakes and would use it very often. It would also replace my Garmin Fenix 5 as an everyday watch to track my other activities like swimming, biking or running. And the Dive Computer/ watch can also record all the other activities that I do from time to time on vacation, such as skiing, sailing, windsurfing. Since some of my dives are deeper than 40m and i do technical diving too, the Garmin Fenix 8 is unfortunately not sufficient, as it has better smartwatch features, but is unfortunately only sufficient for 40m
The Fenix 8 is obviously playing against the Apple Watch Ultra. In terms of diving they are kind of the same level with the 40m rating, no AI, no gas change. While Apple in my opinion is the better smartwatch, Garmin is more focussed on sports. So, the Fenix 8 has battery life on their side and especially no subscription model which makes it cheaper in the long run. And, as far as I know, they won’t lock you, if you drop below 40.
@@SuperSteini89 We'll have to test the Fenix as well. It's a shallow limit, like teh Apple Ultra, but that might be the microphones having issues with the depth. Not sure. Thanks for sharing!
I’m very interested in the Garmin Mk3i as a dive computer because of the different activity tracking. The ability to use the compass both above and below the water line. The ability save locations, link with the Garmin inReach to send and receive messages.
Good overall review with very detailed differentiators helping with ‘Who is this computer for.’ I really liked that. Thanks for showing a wide variety of price points as well as highlighting readability. I have some older pucks and a Peregrine TX. The readability and ease of use on the Shearwaters is amazing and consistent across their entire line and I would buy another like a Perdix or Teric if I wanted to do more Tec diving. The actual battery life was a unique group test and some great data with a few big surprises. You also nailed why so many are hesitant on the Apple Watch - the lockout potential kept me away…. The subscription deters many unnecessarily, as you noted because if one dives a few times a year … and all in a one or two week period it’s a good deal economically. Also appreciated seeing the new Suunto as compared to Teric and MK3s…. Screen looks amazing, but your coverage of usability was very insightful. So many great choices. Did you notice any differences algorithmically/diversified time and deco response in their implementations? Thanks for such a thorough set of reviews.
Garmin MK3i is my favorite out of the lot! Got the chance to try it not to long ago, wish I had my own as it'd be so versatile between daily life (fitness + sports) and of course whenever I decide to dive (free or scuba). 🤞 Keep making these amazing videos, big fan!
@@DIVEindotcom I did! A dive buddy lent me his for one, it just felt good on my wrist (not super bulky) + I like the layout of data on the display. UI Navigation was pretty easy as well.
I am very excited about the Peregrine TX. I came to this video because I purchased a full dive set of my own. I want to complete it with a nice dive watch. The Peregrine TX seems ideal for this purpose. It has a nice screen, is easy to use and has options to transition into basic tactical diving. Which I am already very excited about, and thinking about doing in the future. I want to thank you for creating this kind of great content. You guys are really helping the diving community move forward!
Love the Shearwater Perdix 2! 🥰 I am on the brink of moving forward from recreational to technical diving and you can’t ignore the Perdix on this journey. 😎
I have the Garmin MK2i right now and I absolutely love it. It works so well as both a dive computer and everyday watch, and would definitely recommend it!
Great video.I love my Teric as I get all the full features of a top of the line dive computer in a small watch sized computer. I also like the bright display and the built in compass.
Thanks for the video, comes right as I want to do my instructor course in a month My favorit out of them all has to be the garmin descent mk3(i) as it has a beautiful bright screen, tracks sleep and hr, can receive messages and the torch for emergencies. I also love doing other sports as Football and Tennis and would love to use that thing for pretty much everything! Since its launch I've been waiting for the mk2i to drop in price but it is still at around 1000€ which is way more than I can afford even tho it probably is absolut reasonable
Nice! Where are you doing your instructor course? Perhaps, look at a second-hand Mk2i - they might drop in price ass some divers are looking to replace the mk3i
@@DIVEindotcom I am doing it on Madeira, the island I was born Always on the lookout for them, already activated notifications whenever someone uploads the MK2i to ebay!
Great Video. I like the size of the Tern and Tern TX but the screen of the Peregrine. I really enjoy seeing comparison videos. Hope to dive enough to justify a Teric or MK3i eventually.
Thank you so much for your hard work! Great video. I'm looking at the garmin mk3i 51mm cause I think we need the best equipment for going under water. the price though.... oh boy and then there's the pod as well... buying the mk3i is tricky cause I won't feel happy with my purchase for so much money and then see the mk4i
yes thats a negative thing on every expensive product, buy one, and you now the next generation will be there and be better. I would love to have the ecg feature like fenix 8. And propably an mk4 will have it :(
Hello Thank you so much for your comparison video. My favorite is the Shearwater Peregrine. I’m 64. I was certified in n 1987 by Naui. I dove a little bit back then then left it alone for many years. I recently took a refresher course in preparation for our trip to Curacao. Went there in July and I had 4 dives off of the Sandals boat. Needless to say I’m now hooked and cannot wait to dive again. Looking at a trip through our local dive shop to go to Cozumel. So…I’m in the market for gear. I’m going Saturday to pick up my bcd. I’d love an opportunity to have some of the gear you guys are testing. Please give this ole PawPaw a consideration for some of your gear. Again thank you so much for your thorough gear presentation. Guy Menard.
Hi Guy, Welcome back to the world of diving. Did you sign up for the newsletter as well? You can find it here: www.divein.com/diving/best-dive-computer/
Hi Paola, We haven't tested the Ratio computers, but we've gotten a few comments on them, so we'll try and get them in the next test we do. As I remember they have the tank pod that will change color depending on the remaining air?
In the bottom tier I understand taking the established values, but as a new diver I went with the astonishing aqualung i330r, which is holding its ground quite firmly offering also nitrox capabilities and free dive mode, while also having a colour screen and rechargeable battery. But if I may dream, I would of course go for the Garmin Mk3i. The air integration I find is a big difference with the descent as well. I want to better my air consumption and therefore an air integrated watch would be very helpful to analyse at what moments my air consumption goes up. For that specific reason the Suunto Ocean has an important edge. It has air integration, cost considerably less, and is a sport watch all around. As I am a hiker and horseback rider, this is the one I am particularly saving for! I subscribed to the newsletter as I certainly do appreciate the well tested reviews
New to diving and looking to buy my first dive computer. Can’t decide if to splash out and get a smart watch combo or just get an entry level dive computer whilst I’m just starting out
Just the video I was looking for! So many options to choose from. Just finished my Advanced Open Water and I'm definitely going to do the rescue diving as well. So time for a computer for myself. Initially I was looking at the Suunto D5 (not in this video), but now I am curious about your opinion. Out of the options I think the Shearwater Tern TX or Garmin Descent G1 speaks to me the most: like to wear it as a daily watch as well and the integrated compass is a nice feature. Any thoughts? Cheers
Share with a friend. Moving to a modern computer is amazing. Having AI and a bright screen is now affordable and available in many form factors. This video shows use the usability, visibly, and even battery life for each model. Well done!
Shearwater Perdix 2 would be the choice for my next dive computer. I currently have the atmos mission 2 and really love it. Surface activities and a solid recreational dive computer. I am progressing towards technical diving and the added features or the perdix are what I need.
Great video, congratulations for the professionalism and objectivity, I am attracted by the Garmin G1, even if the screen is small it still seems easy enough to read also for how the data is presented..
Thanks for a great video! I think the best dive computer on this video is the Garmin Mk3i but at a high cost. It has everything anyone could need, from diving to above water activities, transmitter, good screen, and will last a very long time. My second choice would be the Suunto Ocean due to the transmitter, sports app, and also brightness screen. I’m a new diver and would definitely love to win my first dive computer!
I personally have the peragrin TX and I love it. I always wanted the perdix 2 when I started diving, but was a bit above my budget at the time. When they came out wit h the TX.. I jumped on that since it had Ai and compass.. The screen is really bright as stated in the video. I highly recommend this computer for new divers. It's about $1100 with the pod and is amazing
I’m new to diving, certified in June so I don’t own a computer yet but your video helped a great deal. I like the sunnuto and the peregrine. I can’t see buying the first computer due to its limitations. While it’s cheap it’s easily out grown and becomes a waste of money. Thanks for all your work
@@DIVEindotcom I have the non-AI Peregrine; love the unit. Less than a year after buying it...the TX comes out! Just my luck. I'll probably buy the TX and trans, and put the original in my wetsuit pocket for backup. The MK3i is fantastic I bet. The new fenix 8 will be a big hit for those divers who don't need/want AI.
I was kind of surprised you didn't mention more of the suunto offerings. The zoop is the most basic and the ocean is brand new. What about the D5 or the EONs? Along those lines I've been happily using a Vyper Novo as it addresses some of the shortcomings of the zoop: AI, digital compass and multiple gasses. For a while I've been wanting a Perdix AI, I just can't get the funds together to get it along with at least 2 transmitters to replace my existing Vyper system. Now that the peregrine is out I'm very interested in that model, but again struggling to get one with 2 transmitters. Anyway, I really enjoyed seeing the all side by side and hearing a well thought out blurb about each of the models you did present. Thank you very much.
Hey Randy, thanks for checking out the review! Yeah, I totally get where you’re coming from with Suunto. I did include the D5 in the testing, as you can see in some of the video, but its battery was the weakest of the bunch, and for the price, it just doesn’t hold up compared to other options. As much as I love Suunto, they’ve been struggling a bit lately to keep up, until now with the Ocean. The EON would’ve been a good shout, but I found the Shearwaters performed better at a better price point. I get why you’re eyeing the Perdix AI-it’s a beast, but definitely not the cheapest option.
I love my MKi3 mostly because I use a ton of the other activity features above water and the app is great for tracking *everything* you do as well as sleep and health data. It even estimates your DCS risk based on sleep / exercise recovery etc. Thanks for this.
"Love my Perdix" - It's an easy thing to love. If it's flooded it should be an easy sell? Thanks for sharing! Btw. remember to sign up for our newsletter and take part in the draw: www.divein.com/diving/best-dive-computer/
Thank you for the great video with allot of valuable information. I personally like the MK3i for all of the functionality that it has both in and out of the water.
No, we didn't think this would add any value to the review, but I can go back and look through the test footage and see if there's any data we can pull. What are you using the pH measuring for?
No. Not at all. The MK2i is still a great dive computer. The MK3i has a led flashlight, brighter screen, and uw messaging, but it's in no way worth a change from a good and working DC.
As a recreational diver, I own the Cressi Donnatelo and for the price point I think it's a good choiche when geting into the dive world without breaking the bank and investing in other quality gear instead. It does everything I need at this moment. The one push button though... yeah, you need to get used to it. I do however see the benefit of having an always on screen (OLED) as on the Cressi you have to always long-push the button for to light it up for those few seconds. An integrated compass and possibility of air integreation seem like a good reason for a future upgrade. But the price entry for those devices at 600€... Ouch For your next roundup, would be great if you could include the Cressi Raffaelo, Mares Sirius/Quad computers as well. Thank you for all the great equipement tests, keep it up.
As a diver just getting back into it after 30 years, I’m new to the computer age of diving so this video was a HUGE help in learning what would be best for me as an occasional sport diver with 60 year old eyes. The Perigrin would be my pick because it’s in my price range relative to my type of diving, and the large bright screen is a huge plus over monochrome screens. Especially diving in Midwest lakes with less than pristine visibility the screen and features would fit me nicely.
I like the Garmin MK3i. It seems to have the best features to "do it all". I especially like the bright, multicolor screen. As I age, bifocal contact lenses are not available in my prescription and I have difficulty with the monochrome screens.
Garmin MK3i is my favorite, I’ve been a Garmin user for over 7 years and I just love how dedicated they are to make better products that last for years
@@hornelogan323 I wouldn't recommend the MK3i to anyone who doesn't do at least 30-50 dives a year mainly because of the price point. If money isn't a constraint then go for it or else there are cheaper options like the G1 series which is about 1/4 the cost. Hope I answered your question
I have a Peregrine. It is a great dive computer, large display and great price and it is easy to download the logs and see them in the app. I like being able to see the data I want on the same screen without having to change screens. It is very easy to configure too. The Compass and AI is a really nice addition on the Peregrine TX. That would be my next one to get as a recreational diver.
Is there a reason no ScubaPro computers made it? I just got certified using my shops ScubaPro G2 and it seemed really nice. Again i am a brand new diver, and looking to get my own gear soon. Can someone shed light on ScubaPro compared to these brands?
Have few not included on the review, but Peregrine TX is on the shopping list already... Also have to admit that for most of trips abroad I take with me my old Sunto Zoop as is reliable, cheap (so no stress if suddenly disappear or brake), easy to use and big enough to clearly see the info.
I have a Zoop Novo which does the job for now, but I would love the latest iteration of the Shearwater Perdix or Petrel to be able to use Buhlmann with gradient factor, AA batteries, and Bluetooth synchronising with my PC-based logbook. Added bonus is many of my diving buddies use Petrels/Perdixes, so I’ll have more heads to troubleshoot if needed.
Hey @sorslibertas, totally agree with you! It’s always a plus to have others nearby who know their gear. I know from personal experience how helpful that can be, especially when you’re still getting comfortable with a new piece of equipment. It’s like having your own little dive support system! Appreciate your thoughts on this!
I think a lot of divers feel like this. I have an old love relationship with Suunto as they were all over when I started diving, so it's really great they are "back in the game". We're releasing a full review of the Suunto really soon, so remember to subscribe to the channel for an update when we release it: youtube.com/@diveindotcom?sub_confirmation=1
@@DIVEindotcom I do own the Suunto d5 and I am enjoying every dive and outing with it, with its amazing big screen and beautiful look, despite the terrible battery...
I have the older Zoop (3 button) and it's still working perfectly but I'm thinking of upgrading. The Shearwater Peregrine TX is high on my list, as I want a dedicated Dive Computer (I haven't worn a watch since the 90's) but I also have the Suunto Vyper on my list because of it's user replaceable battery and AI options. It's a shame it wasn't part of your review.
I have a Garmin G1 and love it. I’d love to get a shearwater teric or perdix 2 in the future and use the G1 as a backup. Love the AI capabilities on those two and the data integrations with subsurface.
I would love to upgrade to the Shearwater Perdix 2 from my old Suunto Vyper. I love the size of the display and the good display arrangement. Exchangeable battery is definetly a plus! Furthermore I really need a good deco dive computer.
I do not own a dive computer yet, but i'm looking to get one in the near future. The descent g1 seems pretty nice with all of the out of water features, on the other hand the tern tx is pretty convenient with air integration, so a tough choice for me.
Hi @tilmantausch9703, It really comes down to how much you’ll need the computer above water and how important a bright screen and AI is to you. If you dive in places with strong sunlight or low visibility, having a bright screen can be a game-changer, but having a dive Computer to use above the water is also great. Definitely something to consider when making your decision! Thanks again for commenting!
I love my MK3i with T2 transceiver. The only problem is that my wife is now really jealous. Looks like we'll be saving up to get one for her, too. In addition to diving, I do a lot of mountain biking and trail running. So I needed a computer that doubles as a sports watch. I chose the Garmin brand because I previously owned one of their watches and was very satisfied with the performance and durability. The thing survived multiple MTB crashes over six years without so much as a scratch. I passed it on to a friend and it's still going strong. I specifically chose the MK3i because of the large screen size, the color maps, the air integration, and the complete array of dive capabilities. I am not currently a tech diver, but I may choose to become certified as one in the future. I want to have that functionality available in case I need it.
Just a question, how many dives have you don with apple watch ultra ? Cause mine drowned at 30 meters deep and i don’t know if i can risk it again but the one which downed was bought second hand and i reckon somebody must’ve opened to repair it and no been sealed properly ,will it handle many dives at 30 meters
I have Teric, and i love it so much because it has a great screen. The size is not too bulky, but the function and features are very easy and intuitive.
Great video. The Garmin mk3i 51mm is the perfect dive computer for me. As a professional diver, I need a computer that can do everything, clear to read but also with a long battery life ! Nothing is more annoying than charging you computer every day especially when going on a liveaboard. Because I use it all the time, i prefer a watch computer that's why Garmin is what I need and if you ask gently it can do your early morning coffee 😂😂
I have never bought a dive watch computer - so I do not have an opinion to share. I am a cyclist and use a Garmin, so I like the idea of being familiar with the technology. I am scheduled to Dive Oct 19th and need to buy something this week. Please share opinions for New diver ... 😀
The garmin would definitely be my favourite to own, but I don't have one yet simply because of the price. I have used and trust oceanic gear for many years, and would love to own one, and will begin to research it after watching the review.
I saw your comments on the Apple Watch and can only say that i have been on dives with people that have been using this and their numbers (depth specically) were off by a significant amount compared to Shearwater and Suunto
As a diver looking at my first dive computer and one that I will use hope fully for years, as well as it tracking other things like swimming, I am torn between the Apple Watch and the Suunto ocean. However if I had money I would have chosen the MK3.
I have the Peregrine and it's great, but I really want to get the Garmin MK3i because I can use it for backpacking and diving and just general activity tracking. It seems to be one of the best all-around smartwatch/dive computers out there aside from the Apple one.

Thanks again.
That's a great dive computer as well and from a company that really backs up their products with top-quality customer service.
Love the garmin mk3i, it is very versatile and seems amazing to have as an every day watch but then when you go into dive mode so can the watch you wear everyday. Loved the review video and I actually learned a lot more than I thought I would.
I have a Cressi Donatello, it covers everything I need in my summer recrational dives. Can't ask for more!
That's the thing about the Cressi Donatello/Leonardo - it does what you need as a diver.
By far the Perdix 2 or Peregrine TX are my favorits
Shearwater is “my brand” to trust under water 💪🏻🙏🏻
Same!
That is awesome. Have you tried any of the other brands
@@hughes-gardner I work for a dive shop that carries many of the major brands. We try all the gear to be knowledgable in it.
Good enough for you?
@@hughes-gardner- yes .. had suunto and cressi earlier …
The Garmin is so much more than a dive computer - which makes you wear it as your everyday watch - making it your perfect dive companion!
Where would you place the Seac Screen?
Or the ScubaPro G2 and the ScubaPro Luna 2.0?
The Garmin MK3i is a bit pricey, but when it comes to life supporting gear I say splurge a little bit and get a little more than you need. I’ve always dove Mares computers, but after getting the MK3i earlier this year I will never use anything else. Save your money, and get the best computer you can afford. You won’t regret it!
i dont now if its better than teric for example if you just use it for diving. but if you do sports over the water, it´s the perfect watch
Do you happen to use the setting that allows the text to be larger?
Can always defend the price since it will be an everyday watch too. Love my mk2i and will upgrade.
I would be interested in how the new Fenix 8 performs against the MK3i 😮
@@sunhead-x not comparable. It can be used for rec diving. But it limits are 40m and nitrox up to 40%. No support for air integration. Not sure if it records entry and exit point either.
But if you just want to do a dive now and then while travel, then the Fenix should be ok.
Great video. Garmin Mk3i would be the best choice for me.
Hi there,
Which one did you find fit that spot as a diver and backpacker?
btw. did you remember to subscribe to our newsletter at: www.divein.com/diving/best-dive-computer/
Loved this review. Started looking for a dive computer and the info in this review was really helpful. Thanks DIVEIN!
It's added now in the update. Works great.
I got a Leonardo in 2012, still have it, changed the battery 4-5 times, and the oring of the battery, doing like 10-15 dives a yaer, great buy.
I have snorkeled a lot but new to diving in Florida this summer. This is something I want to keep doing. I'm retired now, so I now have time. I like the Sunnto Novo because of price and ease of going thru the settings. I loved the video, it's a great help for someone new. Thanks Rick D. Bronson Fl.
Thanks for the comment. I'm glad you found it useful.
Sounds like a nice retirement :) Where in Florida have you dive so far?
Thanks for sharing. And no dive features are a big minus on any device :)
What's the size compared to the mk3i 43 mm - do you know?
@@DIVEindotcom the size of the Fenix 8 compared ro mk3i, or my fenix 5? My fenix 5 is 47mm and Fenix 8 is available in 43, 47 and 51mm.
@@tokylein Yes, they are moving in on the smartwatch market, as Apple is moving in on the sports watch marked. It's an interesting move for Garmin.
Good choice! It’s a really good one!
Mk3i is my favorite. I'd wear it every day
How long does the battery usually last for you? I have it on my shortlist, but fear I'd have to recharge too often :(
Garmin MK3i is my favorite out of the lot! Got the chance to try it not to long ago, wish I had my own as it'd be so versatile between daily life (fitness + sports) and of course whenever I decide to dive (free or scuba). 🤞 Keep making these amazing videos, big fan!
Thanks, I'm glad you like the videos. Did you have it on a dive? What were your thoughts on that?
@@DIVEindotcom I did! A dive buddy lent me his for one, it just felt good on my wrist (not super bulky) + I like the layout of data on the display. UI Navigation was pretty easy as well.

@@DIVEindotcom I've been lucky! Same air consumption too haha 🤣
Thanks for the review! It provided me with a lot of useful info for my next purchase!
@diveindotcom Thank you guys, your amazing!
Love the Shearwater Perdix 2! 🥰 I am on the brink of moving forward from recreational to technical diving and you can’t ignore the Perdix on this journey. 😎
Agreed. Anyone looking into technical diving should look at the Perdix 2.
Which dive computer are you currently using?
I have the Garmin MK2i right now and I absolutely love it. It works so well as both a dive computer and everyday watch, and would definitely recommend it!
no reference to the suunto ocean 3D map after dive? any feedback?
Great video.I love my Teric as I get all the full features of a top of the line dive computer in a small watch sized computer. I also like the bright display and the built in compass.
Thanks for the video, comes right as I want to do my instructor course in a month
My favorit out of them all has to be the garmin descent mk3(i) as it has a beautiful bright screen, tracks sleep and hr, can receive messages and the torch for emergencies.
Perhaps, look at a second-hand Mk2i - they might drop in price ass some divers are looking to replace the mk3i
@@DIVEindotcom I am doing it on Madeira, the island I was born
Always on the lookout for them, already activated notifications whenever someone uploads the MK2i to ebay!
This computer is very nice but the "beautiful bright screen" is not so beautiful and bright actually...
Great Video. I like the size of the Tern and Tern TX but the screen of the Peregrine. I really enjoy seeing comparison videos. Hope to dive enough to justify a Teric or MK3i eventually.
Thank you so much for your hard work! Great video.
I'm looking at the garmin mk3i 51mm cause I think we need the best equipment for going under water.
the price though.... oh boy
and then there's the pod as well...
buying the mk3i is tricky cause I won't feel happy with my purchase for so much money and then see the mk4i
yes thats a negative thing on every expensive product, buy one, and you now the next generation will be there and be better. I would love to have the ecg feature like fenix 8. And propably an mk4 will have it :(
its great. buy it
Hello
Thank you so much for your comparison video.
Guy Menard.

Hello 😊 thank you for this accurate review. What do you think about iX3m2 Ratiocomputers?
Hi Paola,
We haven't tested the Ratio computers, but we've gotten a few comments on them, so we'll try and get them in the next test we do.
As I remember they have the tank pod that will change color depending on the remaining air?
Very useful, thanks! Started diving last week and now I'm obsessed 😅 I'm considering getting the Apple Watch Ultra!
Thanks for the video, is the compass same responsive in both tern and peregrine?
Any advantage of amoled vs led display?
Can’t decide if to splash out and get a smart watch combo or just get an entry level dive computer whilst I’m just starting out
Thanks for the review. I am going to buy the garmin because I like the battery life above and below the surface.
Cheers
Shearwater Peregrine Dive Computer is mine favourite. Love the design, the big information screen and the ease of use for me as a recreational diver.
Thanks for your videos.
For me, the Suunto Ocean would fit perfectly. Since I also need it in my daily.
Which would people choose between the perdix2 and the scubaproG2 and why? Currently the G2 is circa £400 cheaper.
I dive the Teric for more than 5 years now. It´s a great computer! It meets all my expectations!
Great video, congratulations for the professionalism and objectivity, I am attracted by the Garmin G1, even if the screen is small it still seems easy enough to read also for how the data is presented..
My dream is the MK3i. I currently use an Atmos mission2. Thoughts?
Thanks for a great video! I think the best dive computer on this video is the Garmin Mk3i but at a high cost. It has everything anyone could need, from diving to above water activities, transmitter, good screen, and will last a very long time. My second choice would be the Suunto Ocean due to the transmitter, sports app, and also brightness screen. I’m a new diver and would definitely love to win my first dive computer!
Amazing work! Thank you!
Thank you! Did you find a dive computer you could use?
Thanks for the good explanation video! Very helpfull.
Thanks for all your work
Welcome aboard! Where did you get certified?
Excellent job on the video!
Thank you! Which one is your favorite dive computer?
@@DIVEindotcom I have the non-AI Peregrine; love the unit. Less than a year after buying it...the TX comes out! Just my luck. I'll probably buy the TX and trans, and put the original in my wetsuit pocket for backup. The MK3i is fantastic I bet. The new fenix 8 will be a big hit for those divers who don't need/want AI.
Thank you for this review ! Shearwater Peregrine TX ! :)
Awesome video, thanks for the info. I’ve got the mk 3i absolutely love this thing. I think if it’s not air integrated is not a dive computer.
Congrats. Great review. Waiting for part 2 including Scubapro G3.
My favourite is the perdix 2. great computer for tecnical diving
Love my Perdix! Working on talking my wife / buddy to get the Peregrine to replace her flooded oceanic.
"Love my Perdix" - It's an easy thing to love.
If it's flooded it should be an easy sell?

As a new diver all this new technology is a bit overwhelming, thanks you for your amazing videos…
Garmin MK3i presents my dive dreams - it s reliable, funktional and user friendly. Thank you for the video and I am go dreaming now.
What is the brand and name of the watch that is on the left of the garmin MK3i 51mm?
That's the Garmin Mk2i. If it looks similar, it's because they are really similar.
Thank you for the great video with allot of valuable information. I personally like the MK3i for all of the functionality that it has both in and out of the water.
Any testing or comparison of temperature accuracy? Interested in precise temperature reading in regard to data gathering for pH measuring.
No, we didn't think this would add any value to the review, but I can go back and look through the test footage and see if there's any data we can pull.
What are you using the pH measuring for?
Biggest question, is it worth upgrading from an MK2i to the Mk3i if you are not going to use the wave messaging and are diving a T1 transmitter?
No. Not at all. The MK2i is still a great dive computer. The MK3i has a led flashlight, brighter screen, and uw messaging, but it's in no way worth a change from a good and working DC.
Great explanations, very clear, thank you very much!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Ouch
For your next roundup, would be great if you could include the Cressi Raffaelo, Mares Sirius/Quad computers as well.
Great choice
Suunto in relation to price and quality seems better to me, but what do you think of Mares Smart?
I like the Garmin MK3i. It seems to have the best features to "do it all". I especially like the bright, multicolor screen. As I age, bifocal contact lenses are not available in my prescription and I have difficulty with the monochrome screens.
Garmin MK3i is my favorite, I’ve been a Garmin user for over 7 years and I just love how dedicated they are to make better products that last for years
Would you recommend the Garmin MK3i to a beginner
Thanks for a great and informative video. Went with the Suunto Ocean as the Garmin MK3i is out of my reach.
I still believe Garmin mk3i is unmatched but for some reason i do love to own the Suunto Ocean... Great reviews btw, thank you so much!
Hi @tilmantausch9703,
It really comes down to how much you’ll need the computer above water and how important a bright screen and AI is to you. If you dive in places with strong sunlight or low visibility, having a bright screen can be a game-changer, but having a dive Computer to use above the water is also great.
Definitely something to consider when making your decision!
Thanks again for commenting!
Love the options in the Shearwater Tern TX, but love the size and brightness of the Shearwater Peregrine TX.
Quite a lot of dives already. And I’ve never heard of it flooding before, perhaps have it checked by Apple?
