A best friend of mine is a groomer and she is generous to share her tips and tricks with me. Ive cut all my dogs for the last 30 years. 2 Brittany's in the 00's which dont call for much grooming, ears, tail, feet and nails. I have a westipoo now that needs constant grooming. I do it majority of the time but sometimes have a local groomer give him one too. And when i mess up with my clippers, i always ask him, What's the difference between a good haircut and a bad haircut.... 2 weeks. Lol. He always looks good to me no matter what.

I used to give my German Shepherd a summer cut when the weather was very hot; I used the horse clippers on her! She was always very good and really seemed to appreciate it. Because she was so good it was easy to make the haircut look good.

I do both mine. One is a 7 month old F!B Goldendoodle and the other is 1.5 yr old Bernedoodle. My Goldendoodle is very curly and I try teddy bear / puppy cut. She looks very cute and as a newbie (only one grrom each of them) I'm pretty happy. My bernedoodle, she has a mix coat and fights me but, I remain patient and reassuring but I don't do anything special. I cut her short with the #4 attached comb and leave her face medium length and and fluffy on top of her head.
You have done a brilliant job 👏 My attempts on my 2 are a disaster but I can't afford to go to the groomers very often but my groomer knows that and tidies up the mess I have made and she makes them beautiful again 😁❤️

I used to have a teacup poodle that we (my ex and me) would shave to look like a poodle cut. We had to do ourselves bc she was very very very aggressive. She was my mother's dog but then my mother passed away. My mom had a lady that would cut her hair but she retired so we had to do it. Let's just say we used every option in the market for safety and there were many many nicks which in sure didn't make the dog like getting a haircut any better but it was so hard with the aggression.

I cut my little Maltese Bella myself, but it never looks as good as when you do it! 🤩
No! I took her to the groomer once a month from the time she was four months old.!! She loved her groomer!
And I brush too every day and bathed her once a week( Only because she was always out digging in the mud And chasing squirrels! 😂)
I try to do my Yorkshire terrier age 13 as he is too old to stand for long and hates the groomers hairdryer but not my home hairdryer. Also i do my Maltese Bichon mix which doesn’t come out very nice
