Just finished this for myself as well. Three tips: 1. If you’re replacing the thermostat, you might as well replace the temp sensor right next to the thermostat. Use a 15 ratchet wrench to make micro turns for like 30 minutes to get that out. I found no tool could easily get this component out. 2. I didn’t remove enough of the engine coolant as I should have. The second I disconnected the radiator hose from the thermostat, I had coolant come pouring out into the engine. Make sure you drain most of the engine coolant out! 3. Make sure to disconnect the battery and then reconnect, after the thermostat is installed, to ensure that codes are cleared and the ECM can reset when you start up again to recognize the new thermostat. Great video, very helpful!
Great video. Watched this twice, took notes on the bolt sizes and order of everything and then went to work on it. Took barely over an hour thanks to you.
This is a fantastic video! Thank you so much for this! I tried to buy the thermostat housing part from you but it was out of stock. Sorry. This video made the whole replacement easy! FYI to anyone out there thinking about not draining the coolant like it shows it some other videos. Don't. You should drain the coolant. Don't ask me how I know.
Great video, kept me from going in blind. I found getting the thermostat in and out of the cavity easier by removing the bolts from the housing. thank you.
Excellent Video. One suggestion if you can't get to the bolts on the thermostat housing like myself. I switched from the 1/4 setup with the power tool to a manual 3/8 socket and extension and ratchet and was able to slip in and remove the bolts.
Just finished this job, took me 2 hours. This is my 3rd time replacing this part trying to chase down why the radiator fan won't switch off and keeps killing the battery, if anyone else has had this issue please let me know what can be done.
Thanks for the video! Very helpful. Does anybody have a part number for the thermostat and housing assembly? Also maybe a part number for that gasket if it isn’t reusable? And maybe a part number for that funnel with the built-in radiator cap? Thanks in advance
