I think you mistake what companies are actually doing with your data. The old ways of advertising were incredibly wasteful as you might be spending money to show people something they’ll never buy. The purpose of data that companies take is for them to be able to develop a more tailored advertising style. I really don’t get worried about that or see it as a violation of my privacy. If companies have better campaigns because they know I’m a loyal customer, or are more cautious about losing me because they know that I like alternatives, it makes the process of finding the products I need/want easier. They don’t so much care about the specifics of people’s daily lives (hell storing that data would be insanely expensive), they are just looking for specific tasks like searching for something multiple times, or filling out a form and not completing it to gather insights.

I don’t mind because I already see ads everywhere. Social media, tv, my mailbox. That’s all I get and I don’t let it overcome my emotions of privacy if anything it is just another thing to delete, spam or recycle the ads I get. Plus I just see a tiny ad on the smart screen at the bottom right hand corner (sometimes takes over the smart screen for a few seconds) in order to get a free tv I use in the basement that I don’t mind using and when having guests over like the picture and quality of it. But I totally get the point @themax00000 just that I’m at a point where for this I don’t mind but for other things like being a website rater or some other daily gig work that sends you stuff to rate on. (Which is a thing) I don’t do since then I’ll get way more ads and more spam than normal.
True! Greater insight into yourself to get better ads or valuing you more I totally get. Plus these advertisers want to keep you since you will be evolving into new trends or products thus keeping an active advertisement. But as I said it’s just a small ad that know some things about me from signing up. I don’t click on the ads or scan the QR code I just ignore it and go on with my day.

Can you listen to the TV through wireless headphones like AirPods? That is a big feature I use on Roku TVs using the Roku app on my phone. Just checking.
It does have an option for Bluetooth in settings I’ll try it out. I’ve mostly been using the included android device that came with the tv so I’ll follow up here after I try it out
Just checked. The Telly doesn’t do Bluetooth (maybe a software push but for now no). The android dongle allows Bluetooth and I used my AirPods Pro and it worked.
Yea there were a couple people who are very privacy conscience saying they wouldn’t touch it with a 10-foot pole but otherwise others just said to cover the ad and just continue as normal.

If you are, and you're okay with it, you can obviously ignore my remarks. I just feel like people are focusing on the "free" part, and not really looking into exactly why it's free
Very true and you are correct in the mic and camera but those shouldn’t be enabled unless an app is used for them but yea you can never know. Could be hacked and eased dropped like other companies went through like peloton.

TVs are getting cheap but adding these features like the second screen to see other information like how you watch the news is pretty cool and the sound out of this is really crisp. But good point on the camera and mic. They are off when not in use but I understand the sense of just not wanting that.
Why does no one show the whole back? How is the sound bar and second screen connected? Stop at the plugs and buttons and just dont show below it. No one has a picture of how the back looks. Can the screen be taken off and put above the tv if you wanted too?
Apologies, I thought I had demonstrated the back. The integrated LED backlight is located there, and you can manually change the colors through the settings. The soundbar offers great audio quality-clear, crisp, and loud at high volumes. Unfortunately, the bottom screen cannot be moved to the top. The top lacks screw holes for this purpose, and the bottom screen is not designed to be detached.

Great Questions. Yes you can connect PlayStation to it via the HDMI ports. You may need to use an adapter if you are using the original Playstion but anything modern with HDMI connects. Yes, you can return the TV. You will need to pay for shipping and have a big box for it and there’s a restocking fee I believe. But I know you do have to pay for shipping and shipping a TV like this in the states is a pretty penny.
Got mine a few days ago . Shipments are picking up and you will get yours! Long story short they had product issues….basically if you are not a big name like Apple , etc you are having a hard time getting hardware made: this has been resolved for Telly. The second issue was they tried FEDEX and UPS and they didn’t work ( the box is akward and heavy at 76 pounds. But mostly akward ) so they are now using logistics companies to ship them out. As a side note the TV weighs 65 pounds. Be prepared to Possibly buy a new tv stand. Sorry for long response.

I think other companies are working on an idea to compete with what's going on. Walmart just bought Visio and I've seen 40 inch Visio TV's selling for 115 at Walmart. They want to direct advertising to the buyers of all Visio TV's they sell. They had a 43 inch one for 125.

Nope. Ads are just on the smart bar and can be the small right hand corner otherwise there maybe a stretched out ad for 2 seconds and then goes back to the bottom right hand corner. Think of it as the part where the ad is shippable and they try to grab attention to make it bigger. That is about it. You can now play flappy bird on the Telly by using the voice remote to play flappy bird while doing something on the main screen.
Nothing in this world is free, but interesting method of monetization. You're paying with your privacy (or sanity) as opposed to money. Yea Telly as a business lose the money from any initial sale, but in exchange they can advertise uninterrupted in your home with their ads guaranteed to have priority. I have to assume that, they're using this as a selling point to any potential advertisers/investors so that Telly can actually make a return. And that's not even mentioning the fact that these ads seemingly play over what's already displaying on the TV, as if ads weren't invasive enough. Also a free smart-TV, with a webcam and microphone?? Great point and the ads are on the big screen unless you change inputs and if you play games on the bottom bar then the ads stay to the far right and don’t take over the smart bar (recent update that made that happen for ads). I change the input after turning it on and go to the android dongle they give you and play RUclips so it works out for me. Yea the microphone and webcam are there and the terms and condition mentions how they are not in use unless they are used in an app such as zoom. If they were and like how some companies do misuse the privacy tatics then a lawsuit is waiting to happen but all and all I’m ok with the ads in the bottom for a free basement tv to chill and watch with.

You can always physically cover the camera if the user has security concerns.
You don’t need to do that. It closes itself automatically when not in a video call.

It's a TV and TVs are cheap now. This thing just feels wrong. Mic and Webcam on a Tv. yeah. i don't think so.

How long did you have to wait. I sgined up for one and been a couple of months and never heard back from them.
It was roughly 6 months for me. I hear others are around the same and some are sooner. It is the luck of the draw.

Mostly have to do a system restore in settings. Starting from scratch. I think I did that when switching from Ethernet to WiFi.

So if you're playing a video game you just get interrupted by an ad on the main screen?
Nope. Ads are just on the smart bar and can be the small right hand corner otherwise there maybe a stretched out ad for 2 seconds and then goes back to the bottom right hand corner. Think of it as the part where the ad is shippable and they try to grab attention to make it bigger. That is about it. You can now play flappy bird on the Telly by using the voice remote to play flappy bird while doing something on the main screen.
Do the streaming stations on the television have commercials still or is everything on the bottom I was curious about this

Nothing in this world is free, but interesting method of monetization. You're paying with your privacy (or sanity) as opposed to money. Yea Telly as a business lose the money from any initial sale, but in exchange they can advertise uninterrupted in your home with their ads guaranteed to have priority. I have to assume that, they're using this as a selling point to any potential advertisers/investors so that Telly can actually make a return. And that's not even mentioning the fact that these ads seemingly play over what's already displaying on the TV, as if ads weren't invasive enough. Also a free smart-TV, with a webcam and microphone?? Come on dude 🤣 the writing is on the wall

Great point and the ads are on the big screen unless you change inputs and if you play games on the bottom bar then the ads stay to the far right and don’t take over the smart bar (recent update that made that happen for ads). I change the input after turning it on and go to the android dongle they give you and play RUclips so it works out for me. Yea the microphone and webcam are there and the terms and condition mentions how they are not in use unless they are used in an app such as zoom. If they were and like how some companies do misuse the privacy tatics then a lawsuit is waiting to happen but all and all I’m ok with the ads in the bottom for a free basement tv to chill and watch with.
