Cpaws, I've been trying to set this up for ages and your video is the ONLY one that explains things so well - thank you! I only have one small stupid question - through which source do the stream alerts go? As they go through the main desktop audio, if I don't have it muted, it echoes. For an example, if my music source is on and working and the desktop audio too - they both play the music and the audio is doubled. I bet it's a simple solution but I've been bashing my head for days with it...

Hey thanks a bunch for these tutorials! I got to 8:30 in the tutorial, all good until Game Capture. When I select the game it says "Specified window is not a game." It's in the list and i select it like you show but it doesn't recognize it?
Hey Andy! If that's the case, I'd trying adding a Window Capture Source instead and adding a Separate Audio Application Capture (BETA) Source with it :D
Help! So i got it all to work. No music to the twitch recording after the stream BUT it also took away my game chat? But still has game audio and my mic audio. Any way to fix that? Thank you!
Thanks for the video I am able to stream while playing music and when I went back to listen to the streamed video I couldn't hear the music so that worked. i have a difference source for every game that i play. you set it up to where you change the scenes source every time you change a game. my question is can i get away without muting my desktop audio in the audio mixer still? i think i can but i just have to make sure that i have the channels set properly. i have mine at 1 for stream then 6 for VOD like you did in the video. i need to make sure that 1 is checked and 6 is not; on my Spotify audio mixer settings.
I did exactly everything! When I start recording to test if it’s capturing all the sounds, the recording doesn’t capture either Spotify or the microphone. 🤔🤔 thanks for the video! 🙌🙌
Thanks for this, I've just set it up, but I found your video a bit confusing when you talked about recording and what I mean is you went around the houses & bought recording into the subject which did baffle me because it was a bit to much to take in as I wasn't interested in the recording part 😂 but I really appreciate your work because it helped me & now I can play music on my stream without worrying about turn vods off etc, thanks again
i followed everything and it was a great stream. but for the recording that twitch does of my gameplay, what do i adjust so you can hear the game and my teammates cause the video only had the game audio
YES to multi-streaming!! Also how to separate the music so that you can have it playing through one of the platforms you're streaming to, and not to the others. Music playing live on your Twitch stream whilst it not coming through your RUclips stream for example.
Hi Cpaws great video as usual, you never disappoint. I am interested in the Twitch VOD audio for multi streaming to Kick and YT. Keep up the great work. Cheers
I have other things being played from my desktop like sound alerts and sub/follower sounds so the music from my Spotify still comes through there even when I have a separate thing just for it.
Idk if you have made a video about this yet, but it's around the same topic of voice settings. Say you want to stream, but certain members of your discord party don't want their voices in stream. How do we mute them only?
After setting all of this up, I'm still getting Spotify audio in my VODs and having muted sections. I set it up with the Application Audio Capture, and my desktop audio muted and not being sent to VOD track either. All my audio tracks are split and Spotify is only being sent to track 1 (live track). Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
thank you! this was so helpful, it answered all my questions about the tracks, splitting it for editing later while also keeping the vod up without music
Hi, thank you for the video, when I mute my desktop audio it also mutes all my alerts and stuff... how do i make sure the alerts are still getting picked up?
this all makes sense but im still a little lost... is spotify supposed to still show up through the desktop audio even though i have a seperate source for it???
I followed the steps in the tutorial. But my Audio Sources seem to cancel each other out. When I play music, you can't hear my Mic on the recording. When I'm talking, you can't hear the music. It's so weird. I tried removing the filters, and removing the sources one by one. It doesn't seem to be working for some reason. Anything I could do?
First off amazing video, thank you so much for this! I followed all the steps. For recording, my Game, Microphone, and Discord audios are assigned to Track 2, 3, and 4 in the same order. However, Track 2 seems to be the only Track picking up actual audio even after reassigning Game and Mic around. Is there something technical I should be looking into? Thanks in advance!
I'm having a problem. I followed all your steps while using Spotify as a separate app so that it's easier, but it still comes through both Desktop and the new audio source. I can still hear the music in the VODs. I normally have my vods start out unpublished because Twitch is dumb and kept muting the first few minutes of it for no reason a while back.
Concerning the alerts, I have created a new audio mixer by double clicking on the source and then pressing 'Control audio via OBS' but now I can not hear the alarm myself when I receive a follow or something. I can see the mixer going up when the alarm pops up but I get no sound of it on my headphones. If I have it set up only with desktop audio I can hear it. How can I fix that ?
@@CpawsMusic I have kinda the same question I stream on both xbox and ps5 with a capture card if i'm playing music through spotify on PC will I be able to hear the music? If not is there a way for me to also hear the music?
sooo i having this issue where, my game audio goes away when my spotify music plays? (on spotify app) am i missing something here? i also disabled the desktop audio, is that why? but i followed the instructions on everything on this video... talking about the vod here, you can hear both the game and music audio playing when streaming... also, my obs is freezing for some unknown reason...
@@CpawsMusic i am using stream elements obs. some people say that the windows 11 update causes obs to crash? I recently updated my gaming laptop and ever since ive been having this issue. (also, if you have a tipjar for foreground and background animated image, as "sources" they appear as audio sources, should i change anything or should i leave it as is.
So for my alert notifications, will they still pop up on stream if i switch my desktop audio to strictly game capture audio beta and mute desktop audio? If not, how do I enable the little sound notifications to play through on stream?
Hope you can take a min to answer. So I use SLOBS to stream. I set up 2 audio one for music and one for game audio. When I have music playing my game audio picks it up as well. Is that normal or am I setting it up wrong? I haven’t tested it on stream because I don’t want it muted. I do understand I select what’s getting recorded but afraid it’ll still get recorded. I’m assuming it should have separate levels. If I’m not playing a game only the music levels would move not both. Hope that was easy to understand not sure what the proper terms are.
They should be separate tracks, which means no using desktop audio (which combines all the audio coming through your speakers) so you'll want to setup separate audio tracks for them :D
i'm using the application audio capture for spotify but my desktop audio to capture the window is also picking up spotify. will it cause double audio or can i leave it as is and it would be fine?
Hi, Thanks for this video! I have only one question. How can I let my followers and donation alerts sounds come thru in the stream? because there is no like "window" where the sound is comming from. I can hear the sound but not the vieuwers. Hope you can help me out!
OMG FINALLY!!! thank you so much!!! this was incredibly helpful and made way more sense. For the longest time I did not understand these dang tracks and now I do. Having them all sperated makes life way easier, though I wish on the VOD track we could make use of the other tracks too
Great video! it was straight to the point and this is going to help out alot! But i have a question, when i made sources for each game i needed i noticed on warzone prox chat does not come up on my recordings or in stream. Would you happen to have a solution for that? Thanks!
Def need help with multi streaming. I’m having trouble on Mac too. Don’t know if you have access to one to mess around with but the desktop audio dropdown shows “disabled” in OBS. Either way just the multi stream helps would be super appreciated. Love your content! You’ve taught me a lot! Thanks!
I stream on RUclips. So is the issue where when the stream ends it’s the fact the songs are in the video & not so much that the music is playing while I’m live ? I just don’t get how it works. I want to listen to music while I stream but I always get hit with copyright
Hey man love the video. Only problem I'm having is when I play the music on Apple Music App it comes thru desktop audio sound only, does not show it coming thru the new apple music audio capture I selected.
For some reason, when I try to play music on my Apple Music app, it doesn't come through on the Application Audio Capture (BETA) and only comes through on my desktop audio. This picks up the audio twice through my mic which is no good. What should I do?
Very weird, honestly not sure! I don't use apple music, only spotify :/ - could play apple music through a browser like we did spotify if that's an option 😄
Hey great video but I have a question is there a way to modify it so that the song audio doesn't come through my headset and only goes to the stream specifically the reason is I play games like valorant in which hearing footsteps is necessary
This video was very helpful but i have a couple of questions.. I have everything split and i mainly stream warzone however, the stream can hear the gameplay just fine but not the people in game chat/proximity chat. is there anyway to fix that? second question is, i hear my audio for new subs/resubs/ bits but the stream cannot. also plugins like twitch sound alerts and blerp extensions.. any fix for that or did i do something wrong?
For the plugins, you'll want to double click the sources and enable control audio / custom audio or whatever it's called so you can add them to the mixer and route them accordingly :D - the game chat im not sure about tho
If I have desktop audio on track 1 and set that as my live streaming output audio and I start Spotify, the desktop audio automatically picks it up and already sends it out to my stream. If I know add another audio output just for spotify, which I set to track 1 and like in your example to track 6, doesn't it play Spotify two times on track 1? One time from desktop audio and one time from spotify audio channel itself?
Hey man love your videos!! Sorry if I missed this but when playing music through a Spotify internet window so I need both desktop audio and the Spotify source playing or should I mute desktop audio?
@@CpawsMusic I think i figured it out thanks. I had monitor only(mute output) on to hear my self but i don't think i can do that with this setup. Great video
Incredible work 👏🏻 Finally allows me to have some music playing while my "stream starting soon" screen is up Only question I have is that everytime I close OBS and reopen it I have to re-add the audio capture again because it seems to forget what its linked to
I cannot get the Application Audio Source to show in the mixer. In advanced settings on the mixer it shows as inactive. I can’t find how to make it active in the mixer.
great tutorial, however when i set everything up, i found that while discord was being picked up, my vod and local recording werent hearing them, and i have discord to appear on track 6, which is the audio track that appears for my vods, any tips? if i put track 3 on it picks up, but then my mic input and discord are on the same audio track
I have a problem that i could never fix. Using OBS whenever i activate the microphone on my Bluetooth headset, no audio comes from the computer... I had many headsets and even a new computer over the years but the problem persists... The moment i activate the mic, the computer mutes.... the moment i remove the mic the sound comes back... any idea?

Yes please make a tutorial on how to do this with restream/ultra with multi stream
💜
this all makes sense but im still a little lost... is spotify supposed to still show up through the desktop audio even though i have a seperate source for it???
Yeah that why we mute desktop audio
I followed the steps in the tutorial. But my Audio Sources seem to cancel each other out. When I play music, you can't hear my Mic on the recording. When I'm talking, you can't hear the music. It's so weird.
I tried removing the filters, and removing the sources one by one. It doesn't seem to be working for some reason. Anything I could do?
very weird! not sure about that one
I would recommend double checking all your routing and the advanced audio settings to make sure you may have accidentally unchecked something :D
what about alert sounds, and whats wrong with having desktop audio and the game auido?
Desktop audio won't allow you to properly use the twitch vod track feature
The firstt video to ever be effective thank you

I'm having a problem.
I followed all your steps while using Spotify as a separate app so that it's easier, but it still comes through both Desktop and the new audio source. I can still hear the music in the VODs. I normally have my vods start out unpublished because Twitch is dumb and kept muting the first few minutes of it for no reason a while back.
It's always going to come out of desktop audio so you have to make a choice if you want to just use desktop audio OR split out all your audio 😄
Go into the advanced audio mixer and select "monitor and output" for the browser alert source 😀
@@CpawsMusic Fixed it, thank you so much!
@@danii01TTV You're very welcome :D
great video! how would this work if you are streaming with a capture card with a ps5?
Should be the same process :D
@@CpawsMusic I have kinda the same question I stream on both xbox and ps5 with a capture card if i'm playing music through spotify on PC will I be able to hear the music? If not is there a way for me to also hear the music?
sooo i having this issue where, my game audio goes away when my spotify music plays? (on spotify app) am i missing something here? i also disabled the desktop audio, is that why? but i followed the instructions on everything on this video... talking about the vod here, you can hear both the game and music audio playing when streaming...
also, my obs is freezing for some unknown reason...
I'd recommend shooting streamlabs chat support a message since they can troubleshoot better than I can :D
You'll want to monitor and output alert audio via the browser source
@@CpawsMusic i got it set up. it’s very convenient to have this new freedom via routing, thanks for the informative video (:
@@Tricknificent Heck yeah! glad to hear it :D
Lets go ! Thanks dude 🎉. Im glad, I found your channel !
Of course homie! Glad I could help :D
It'll cause double audio. You'll want to avoid using desktop audio
@ awesome, thanks for the quick reply!
Hi, Thanks for this video! I have only one question. How can I let my followers and donation alerts sounds come thru in the stream? because there is no like "window" where the sound is comming from. I can hear the sound but not the vieuwers. Hope you can help me out!
Double click the alert box source and add a custom/control audio 😄
@@CpawsMusic Thank you really much!
OMG FINALLY!!!
thank you so much!!! this was incredibly helpful and made way more sense. For the longest time I did not understand these dang tracks and now I do. Having them all sperated makes life way easier, though I wish on the VOD track we could make use of the other tracks too
Haha hell yeah! glad I could help :D
Hey for some reason streamlabs doesnt give me the option to capture audio from the game and create the channel in the mixer?
You can always try adding an application audio capture (BETA) source to that game capture separately :)
Great video! it was straight to the point and this is going to help out alot! But i have a question, when i made sources for each game i needed i noticed on warzone prox chat does not come up on my recordings or in stream. Would you happen to have a solution for that? Thanks!
Honestly not sure about that one sorry fam!
@@CpawsMusic No worries brother! Still a fire video!
Thank you for this! I use Restream to send to youtube and kick as well. is there anything i can do for that? Love your videos!
Honestly not 100% with that one haha sorry fam!
Def need help with multi streaming. I’m having trouble on Mac too. Don’t know if you have access to one to mess around with but the desktop audio dropdown shows “disabled” in OBS. Either way just the multi stream helps would be super appreciated. Love your content! You’ve taught me a lot! Thanks!
Much love! The multistream video will be out tomorrow :D
@@CpawsMusic Hell yeah man I’m stoked! Thanks so much
I stream on RUclips. So is the issue where when the stream ends it’s the fact the songs are in the video & not so much that the music is playing while I’m live ? I just don’t get how it works. I want to listen to music while I stream but I always get hit with copyright
this is for twitch only
@ dang… realized yesterday. I guess you can’t stream music to RUclips at all. Sadge
Hey man love the video. Only problem I'm having is when I play the music on Apple Music App it comes thru desktop audio sound only, does not show it coming thru the new apple music audio capture I selected.
Huh. That's weird, not sure about that :/
For some reason, when I try to play music on my Apple Music app, it doesn't come through on the Application Audio Capture (BETA) and only comes through on my desktop audio. This picks up the audio twice through my mic which is no good. What should I do?
Very weird, honestly not sure! I don't use apple music, only spotify :/ - could play apple music through a browser like we did spotify if that's an option 😄
@@CpawsMusic Unfortunately, I tried the web browser option too and that didn't work either! Maybe I'm destined to be music free LOL
@@jasminesims728 Dang, maybe it's time to switch to the dark side of Spotify hahaha
Hey great video but I have a question is there a way to modify it so that the song audio doesn't come through my headset and only goes to the stream specifically the reason is I play games like valorant in which hearing footsteps is necessary
There should be a way but honestly not 100% sure on the setup
How would you do this with a video capture card splitting audio levels or is that not possible
sorry not sure what you mean by that
If I have desktop audio on track 1 and set that as my live streaming output audio and I start Spotify, the desktop audio automatically picks it up and already sends it out to my stream. If I know add another audio output just for spotify, which I set to track 1 and like in your example to track 6, doesn't it play Spotify two times on track 1? One time from desktop audio and one time from spotify audio channel itself?
Yeah that's why you don't have to have desktop audio as one of your sources and you want to split it up like we do in the video
Hey man love your videos!! Sorry if I missed this but when playing music through a Spotify internet window so I need both desktop audio and the Spotify source playing or should I mute desktop audio?
I'd recommend muting the desktop audio source otherwise you'll likely get 2x the output :D
I did this but now my mic is not being picked up on my stream unless i enable desktop audio
Double check your audio tracks
@@CpawsMusic I think i figured it out thanks. I had monitor only(mute output) on to hear my self but i don't think i can do that with this setup. Great video
@@WrayWoW haha yup that is correct
Incredible work 👏🏻
Finally allows me to have some music playing while my "stream starting soon" screen is up
Only question I have is that everytime I close OBS and reopen it I have to re-add the audio capture again because it seems to forget what its linked to
Huh that's weird. Not sure about that 🤔
That shirt is lowkey hard af 🤣🤣🤣
ayyyyyy
I heard you could still be banned live (while streaming). Is that true? And what to do with it?
I haven't heard of anyone getting banned yet, but that's not to say it won't happen in the future
Can you please make a video like this but using SLAB OBS TToTT it's so confusing trying to compare the two applications
Thanks for the video suggestion! I'll consider it :D
I’m doing this on Streamlabs, and there’s not checkmark boxes next to the twitch vod option, it’s just a drop down menu, so i’m confused….any tips??
Check pinned comment :)
this was explained perfectly and thoroughly explained. Awesome, thank you
You're very welcome!
Please do a video to cover this for multistreaming too!
💚
okay so what about OBS notifications? If we mute Desktop audio they won't come through no?
Which OBS notis are you referring to?
@@CpawsMusic alerts
I cannot get the Application Audio Source to show in the mixer. In advanced settings on the mixer it shows as inactive. I can’t find how to make it active in the mixer.
Sorry not sure about that one!
Do you have to do this for every scene or once you do it it's good for all scenes
every scene
Thank you man, I was searching how to stream without them hearing my spotify music. Great explaination!
You're very welcome! If you end up having any questions or just wanna say hi, you can ask me live over on Twitch www.twitch.tv/cpawsmusic :D
great tutorial, however when i set everything up, i found that while discord was being picked up, my vod and local recording werent hearing them, and i have discord to appear on track 6, which is the audio track that appears for my vods, any tips? if i put track 3 on it picks up, but then my mic input and discord are on the same audio track
I would pick another track that you have open if you can :D
I have a problem that i could never fix. Using OBS whenever i activate the microphone on my Bluetooth headset, no audio comes from the computer... I had many headsets and even a new computer over the years but the problem persists... The moment i activate the mic, the computer mutes.... the moment i remove the mic the sound comes back... any idea?
Sorry not sure about that one fam!
Yea, but the spotify still goes in my desktop, so i can't stream the sound from my desktop and so from my games??
You'll want to mute the desktop and separate out the audio sources like we do in the video
@@CpawsMusic I'm such a dumbass, i rewatched everything and noticed i just been very stupid. I'm sorry for making comment while you must being busy. Thank you mate, i just finally understood how to split up all the sounds. Have a good one!

Is it the same process if im adding music to my "stream starting soon" scene in Streamlabs?
Yup!
can you do a breakdown like this for streamlabs please
i still got a warning
thanks for the video recommendation :D
I want to do this while I multi stream. I use restream, but they say this isn't possible. By main software is obs
Sorry not sure about that
and what if you dont have the twitch vod option? cuz that is NOT an option for me. why? no clue, but that option is NOT in my OBS
I would recommend re-downloading OBS Studio from the official OBS website
@@CpawsMusic done that, i think its the steamlabs plugin but i need it lol
have the newest version of obs but theres no application audio capture option :(
Not sure about that :/
What if your multi streaming to RUclips as well ?? Would I delist ?
I'd recommend removing the music track entirely for RUclips
