This was recorded during one of Jarkko's Christmas concert tours in Kallio Church. A Lutheran church in the Kallio district of Helsinki, Finland.
I would recommend you to check out Raskasta Joulua - Tulkoon Joulu. Jarkko is there too, also Marko and many other Finnish metal singers. And also Raskasta Joulua - Joulu, juhla parahin. Marko as his finest 👍🏻

Jarkko's technique is specifically similar to Jose Carreras, world renown opera singer. Jarkko applies this perfect technique to his legendary heavy screams, bridging the gap between metal and opera.
When Marko left Nightwish, Jarkko's name was floated widely across the internet as his replacement!!! Not only can he sing, he's a pretty good bass player also.
People were so desperate to find out who it could be 🤭 I have understood Jarkko is more like lonely wolf, he wouldn't fit in that kind of band as Nightwish. Jukka is perfect match 👍🏻

There are moments when his voice reminds me of the Czechoslovak singer Karel Gott.

Thanks for doing this. He has quite an impressive vocal range with no vocal training ever. He has a background as a heavy metal singer with his band Teräsbetoni and he wrote most of the songs. If you want to check out more of him you can pick anything between opera and heavy. Nessun Dorma or Adagio or Teräsbetoni.

Around Christmas time Jarkko does these church concerts, hence the ”mature” audience.

Very beautiful. I was thinking that the flute could be replaced by an electric guitar and it would still work, or a saxophone for that matter. Would be a slightly different feel, but it should still sound good.

Dear Eric. First..my English is not so good but you will understand. I am a 75 year old Dutch grandma. And I love to listen en see you in your reactions. Because you listen not only technical but also with your heart. And I"m a big fan of Floor Jansen and Nightwish. And listen to all kinds of music and of course the 1970. And I have a suggestion in this time of the year: Floor and Marco singing Ave Maria.

Thanks again for the great video. While looking for a slightly better Finnish Christmas song: Heavy Joulua - Tulkoon joulu (singers Koivunen, Ahola, Marco, etc.) I came across Jarkko Ahola & Waltteri Torikka - Finlandia (Hartwall Arena) ruclips.net/video/YI1YCgJ-U6o/видео.html.
Why am I telling you this - Finlandia is the grandsong/benchmark of Finnish symphonic power metal. The song was composed in 1899 and was immediately banned from being performed. The current Lyrics are from 1940 and they hit the Finnish soul even 10,000 times harder than the composition itself, which is incomprehensible.
In addition to Ahola and Torika, Finlandia has been performed by several Finnish heavy metal bands such as Nightwish. Please enjoy and share you feelings.@theWyldesidewithEricClark

Wonderful reaction and somehow different also, when you started from a broader perspective of the general orchestration and tune. Funny that you also linked immediately Jarkko's voice to heavy metal although this song is very different. That is very true.

Great you finally found Jarkko and this performance. I've suggested this artist and this song possibly ten times in your comnent sections during the last 3 months. Maby you notice better the facebook comments. As lot of Jarkko's youtube vieos are not good quality I'd recommend that you would choose this great cover
