Two things… that contract extension was not in the off-season. It was offered at the deadline in 2023. 2nd… Scott Boris was not Pete’s agent when he turned down the offer
@@Standdividedfalltogether I'm sure Stearns would rather have signed Christian Walker, but, after that home run, the Alonso lovers made it clear that they wanted him back.
@ I do want him back too. But I honestly think he was pressing under the weight of the contract and the team being good way to hard. We saw that once he hit that Hr in Milwaukee how he went off the rest of the playoffs. Actually made a good amount of money off his other 3 HRs. If u look at his first 5 years dude has hit more Hr that anyone in MLB (and that includes judge if you count playoff Homeruns- which I do). I really believe after this contract is done Pete will crush 45-50 HRs and with who’s infront of him hit 110-120 RBI this year and that’s not replaceable. Plus he’s home grown, wants to be here and can play not only in NY but in NY in the playoffs which again is not replaceable. We need him. This lineup needs him and he’s not gonna break the bank. It makes too sense to bring him back. But if the season ended with that pop up being the last memory over the homeruns than sterns would have dumped him and the fan support wouldn’t be there. That might have saved his career imo
Boras was not Alonso agent when he was offered the contract in June of 2023, sorry buddy but you're still the best. Some may say that previous agent steered Pete out to sea instead of taking the deal.
It’s a tricky proposition. But I say if we give Pete a shorter deal with a higher annual salary, maybe we can also get Luis Castillo. I just don’t know how far Cohen is willing to go after Soto’s deal.
I hope that CHEAPSKATE MINI MARKET STEARNS does not insult PETE ALONSO by offering him a cheap contract. ALONSO, who's the most durable player in MLB, plus he's defense improved saving the infielders lots of errors, should get a 5yr contract, 27 million /yr. Anytthing lower will be a slap in the face of ALONSO.
@@FlypSyde1111 Or he will wind up flaming out in three or four years. Two bad years in a row and declining exit velo sounds like he's going to age poorly.
The Yankees won't trade for Guerrero this year... But them signing Goldschmidt on a one year deal is a sure sign they intend to go after Guerrero next season FOR SURE.
Gilbert and Clifford are tradeable for the right return. Gilbert not only had a bad season, he didn't hit in winter ball, and Clifford strikes out a ton, and hasn't been able to hit anything but homers.
He is far from the Mets only choice. The Mets ARE pretty much Pete's only suitor, though. The Mets could certainly move Vientos to 1B, and sign Bregman, or trade for Arenado. The Mets aren't the ones up against the wall. It's Pete who is against the wall.
Guerrero is not the same kind of mercenary player that Soto is. He likes Toronto, and they will move heaven and earth to sign him. I also don't think it would be a good idea to give up more draft picks. The farm system is how you build championships.
@ vlady is young enough and him and Soto back to back for a decade plus sounds good to me. I honestly think it’s already been decided. Soto Vlady and cohen worked it out already before Soto signed. Alverez helped too. He’s coming. With Pete here too. They can rotate DH and 1B and keep both healthy. I had the same feeling about Soto last year before the yanks traded for him. Said don’t bother trading cuz we gonna just sign him. Same will happen with vlady. 13-500. Write it down.
Too many fans seem to be looking at this from a fantasy baseball viewpoint. Sure, Cohen can afford to sign Guerrero next year, but it will kill your player development. Every year the team goes over the luxury tax, their first round draft pick gets kicked down ten spots. If they sign Vlad next year, they will lose two more draft picks. If you trade off prospects for 30 yr old established talent, you gut your player development. You risk losing out on the next Juan Soto or Paul Skenes.
The Mets will let Pete Alonso sign with the Rangers to replace Nathaniel Lowe at 1st base, trade Tyrone Taylor, Huascar Brazoban, and prospects Blade Tidwell, Calvin Ziegler, Luis R. Rodriguez, Willy Fanas, and JT Schwartz to the Blue Jays for Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Steward Berroa, and sign Vladdy to a 14-year contract extension worth $448 million to replace Pete at 1st base, so next season, Juan Soto, Vladdy, and Francisco Alvarez will form the best 3-4-5 hitters the Mets have seen since Keith Hernandez, the late Gary Carter, and Darryl Strawberry.
WHAT ARE WE DOING ONLY SOTO THIS YEAR? No pitching, no hitting, cmon man, might as well DONT get SOTO, WE HAVE NOBODY ON FIRST, LOST 3 STARTERS, NO RELIEVERS, CMON MAN LOST ON CROCHET BEST PITCHER STARTER AVAILABLE CMON, WE HAVE NO OF NEITHER
I'm all in with trading for Vladdy and Castillo and signing Manea
Pete’s defense has definitely improved for sure !!❤
Yes 100%

He definitely has something to prove for all the teams dat passed on him I think now he will play with more aggressiveness
Waited all last year for a Pete hot streak that never showed up. I don't think it was mental either.
If Pete didn’t hit that walk off in Milwaukee his price would be even lower
If he didn’t hit that idk how many people would be saying bring him back after that pop up drop then ending the game??? Yeah he’d prob be gone.

I hope the Mets don't disrespect Pete by low-balling him. He's a good guy and a valuable player and deserves a good contract.
That previous contract extension he turned down was actually before boras
I'm glad he has no options. We will hopefully get a better shorter deal, that way Stearns and Cohen are happy.
Boras was not Alonso agent when he was offered the contract in June of 2023, sorry buddy but you're still the best. Some may say that previous agent steered Pete out to sea instead of taking the deal.
Bottom line, Boris stopped Pete from negotiating with the Mets when the Mets were open to it
8:32 yes I’ve been beating this drum for two weeks
Can we get a polar bear for Xmas or a good Starting pitcher please! Soto was like a week ago!! 😂😂😂
Pete behind Soto and with a good hitter behind Pete, will get 2022 numbers.
They will just pitch around Soto.

Pete Alonso is a .220-.230 hitter we can’t ignore that. 3 years, 84 Million is fair
ACUNA, TYLER CLIFFORD, SPROAT and TONG are prospects who shouldn't be traded. UNTOUCHABLE!!!
Corbin, roki, Shawn Sanga, Peterson & Frankie,
Just bring Pete Home Met for life! 🩵
Yes Pete will be Mets 500 hr hitter
@@FlypSyde1111 Or he will wind up flaming out in three or four years. Two bad years in a row and declining exit velo sounds like he's going to age poorly.
5:49 he’s a year younger
Keep Pete please!
IF PETE DOESN'T SIGN WITH THE METS SOME TEAM MAY OFFER HIM A ONE OR TWO YEAR DEAL
I'm pretty sure Yu Darvish has a no trade clause.
The Yankees won't trade for Guerrero this year...

Didn't he say he would never play for the Yankees?
Is Texas now in the mix?
Don’t think too big you just broke the bank on Bonilla 2.0
I want Burnes and Castillo.. I never thought Lazardo was even that valuable to trade for. I honestly don’t want to trade drew gilbert or Acuña
Gilbert and Clifford are tradeable for the right return. Gilbert not only had a bad season, he didn't hit in winter ball, and Clifford strikes out a ton, and hasn't been able to hit anything but homers.
would love VlAD
Let’s keep Pete and give MV a chance to mature at 3B. Give the money to Corbin Burnes and some bullpen with street cred.
Mets won’t trade for vlad while they can offer the most to get him next year.
Siri is the backup. Taylor will start, Siri will come in late in the game for defense.
I think they plan to leave CF open for Williams or Acunua.

Pete Alonso makes plays at first, are you watching the same things i am watching?
Sources: Mets contacted Anthony Rizzo camp 🚨
🤣
Vlady is a met. Period. Jays might as well take a token prospect or two for him from us now.
Guerrero is not the same kind of mercenary player that Soto is. He likes Toronto, and they will move heaven and earth to sign him. I also don't think it would be a good idea to give up more draft picks. The farm system is how you build championships.

Pete cursed himself after he said Throw it again!

Alonso is screwed
Mets resigned manea, 3 year deal for 75 million, lgm!
LETS GO!

You might want to lay off the weed bro.
Why don’t Mets and boras sit in a room and just hammer out a deal for Pete, each side needs each other, do Mets want Pete crawling back!!!
Because Boras is trying to get him the most money and it is backfired

LGM World Champs 2025..
Hope so 🙏
It’d be nice. But I’m thinking 2026. Usually takes a year to gel. Ask the 85 Mets. Gonna be a lot of new faces this year.
Don’t jinx it lol
Can't he just go to Texas?
It's a possibility
tell singa see you later
