I had a fitting with a Cobra Rep at my club and tried all 3 variations at the start of this spring to replace a 20 year old driver.
By the end of the hour-long session on the range it became clear that forgiveness outweighs distance gains on perfect shots. My swing speed could have worked with the X, but I ultimately went for the most forgiving Max. As someone who doesn't hit the ball super far, being able to confidently hit 230-260 off the tee without worrying about it being wildly off target is so crucial.

Cobra tends to spray. Long but not consistent. Gotta try the Mizuno ST from 2022. Rick, you hit it a couple of years old and you hit it straight and brilliantly. You don’t need the lastest drivers if trying qualifying. A year or two old drivers have brilliant results. Stay straight. No use being long in the deep rough.

So, when you get "out there" - if it works, great, if it doesn't, time to pull another club off the shelf. Keeping it in play, hitting tons more fairways, and getting it out past most of my buddies. And I got cocky, I was like, I'm driving it awesome maybe I found something in my swing. So I went for the triple diamond head, and although when I hit it, great I hit some crazy bomb drives. But my accuracy went down dramatically, trying to push it and add more distance. I'm back to my standard. Going to keep it for a while. Maybe I'll try the AI smoke version, but I'll wait until the new model comes out so it's cheaper 😉

Rick, the moment you took the Ping out of the bag the issues began to show, why not just switch back to the Ping? I got one based off your review and I’ve never driven the ball so constantly, such a forgiving and decently far driver. I miss seeing the ol Ping in the bag.

I’m actually shocked that you haven’t put the Sim 2 Max in the bag after testing out out again after the huge price drop! You were killing it with it!

You should be playing the cobra 3-D printed irons if that’s an option. Your game is so much more solid when hitting a fade. The swing also looks much better. When I first started watching you you would primarily fade your drive. I would always think this guy never misses a fairway. Overtime you’ve switched to playing this hook and it just isn’t a good flight path for you.

Although I love the look of those Cobras, I feel like there’s definitely a more forgiving driver than that Cobra DS X. Those Paradyms are so damn good that I don’t know why you don’t put it in the bag. Of all the club reviews I’ve seen, when you reviewed those Paradyms from last year, that’s the best I’ve ever seen you hit a driver.

I'm playing the Ping G 425 Max with a heavier low spin shaft UST mamaya The LINQ gunmetal it's a beast easy to keep and play and the spin is not too high with the heavier low spin shaft and 9° head I know Rick use the game the g425 max because it was so forgiving

Rick, you seriously need to try the Bizon A-Bomb. I've only seen a few for sale, they're getting pretty popular on tour with the non sponsored players. Matter of time before they blow up and are a mass released.

The key is that you are now consciously setting up to hit fades...that is the most important thing. Before when you were setting up neutral and for draws, it put both misses in play. Play the bigger headed driver but always play a fade. I hit a tone of fairways always setting up for a fade (not with the beautiful distance that you have though 🙂). Thank you for another enjoyable video. Your inviting, pleasant demeanor is what makes you a joy to watch
