This Porsche 911 Turbo S is one of those dreaded third party auction cars.

- Today we will take a look at another third-party auction car that has been repaired and put back in the auction. No drywall screws here, no pin stripe, no rattle can paint. Could this be a proper repair?

I remember Cleetus McFarland bought one like this and it was a total Doctor job. Engine and trans broken in half but listed as a 'Run and drive'. Only his social media presence unwound the deal.
I did see that one. Unfortunately for the little guys, there is no recourse.
@@vehcor Caveat Emptor 💯
Think Scrapelife did as well
Cleetus McFarland’s RUclips channel is a clown show. Cleetus cannot be compared to Scott; Scott is an adult who instructs while Cleetus is an entertainer who thinks he’s funny.
@@johnc.alfanonaa9980Nobody was comparing Scott to Cleetus.
Scott.. really enjoy these.. cannot wait to see you back in the saddle on the regular rebuilds. Stay safe and be well. God bless
I like making these videos better, to be honest. I do like working on cars more though!
Great Job showing both sides
Gotta be fair, there are people out there doing it the right way.
Thank you, Scott! It is nice to know that there are rebuilders out there like yourself who do a very very good job
Thanks for the video Scott.
Any time!
I like watching you rebuild cars but listening and watching you diagnose these rebuilt or rejunked auction cars is really good.
I would like to see you roam around a big parking lot and look at the cars and see how many poor body shop jobs you can spot. TRy to diagnose what the accident was and the extent of the damage, then if the owner shows up, ask them about it and see how close you were.
Why I first started watching your videos was because you were repairing cars properly. Some guys I know are professional in that trade.
I never ask them to explain details, because it’s usually the last thing they want to talk about. Golf, fishing, weddings, bbq’s are not where I want to start talking about how a car is professionally repaired! So I watch your vids.
The reason I want to understand car rebuilds is so I’m better informed when purchasing cars, and maybe repairs I am able to try myself.
Often learn from you vids, and they are entertaining. Hoping you get your shop situation fixed and things work out great !
I really love these videos too and thanks for keeping them going while hopefully taking a small break!
Glad you like them!
You are the most real guy on this platform! Very refreshing, and informative, appreciate all the effort, keep m comin!!
Thank you, Scott. I'm really enjoying these videos! Hope you get the "new" shop up and running soon!
That was really helpful Scott. It's good to see a car repaired well and evaluated by an expert. Thanks!
It's nice to see that your still working. Keep up the good work Scott.
Good job Scott your content is always informative and entertaining. Plus it helps us all learn better what to look for. I had to chuckle when you threw the pic of the front end up my eyes followed the hood gaps and what of the sides of the car that was shown. You are an excellent teacher. I learned to do that from watching your previous videos! Bravo!
The detail is awesome not sure what better these videos or car builds either way good to see ya
I very much appreciate your generosity on this one on top of everything else of course, the impeccable workmanship in combination with your inimitable sarcastic sense of humour in particular. Thank you Scott for everything and all the best wishes for re-starting your business after that rather strange workshop fire experience. Can't wait to see the next fixing-up video series ;)
Good to see you again Scottie ,!
You’re the car auction investigative journalist of RUclips. Really enjoy these videos!
Scott thanks for the info.
Brilliant thank you I enjoy these videos, hope you get your workshop soon 😊
Makes a change to see a repaired Car done well, maybe the Auction Companies are beginning to listen & learn? Good job mate 👍
Hello Scott , thanks for taking us along. I hope that all is good for you.
Good positive note!
Thanks!
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
I hope you are having good luck on your new shop
Nice one scott, love your analysis whether good or bad you call it
You channel has been a great find.
Thanks for the content
Thanks for the this awesome Porsche and the others' too sorry about the fire good luck with new shop 🙏😥👨🏿🔧
I do really like these videos.
Would have loved to see the pics of a doctored up porsche, with airbags cut out, and zip ties...lol Great video Scott!!!!!
...from Richardson Texas originally...right up the road from me! DFW traffic is brutal! 😃
Looks like a good repair.
I love how Porsche breaks its own rear window in a light front end accident driving up repair costs for no reason 😂😂.... Great video as always!
“Oh a minor front end accident, you could use some fresh air” -Porsche probably
Or how a car deploy all the seatbelts even though it knows you don't have any passengers
Looks like someone never heard of Volvo's ROPS system...
ROPS in a Volvo is a reinforced roof not a lets break the window on a car system...@@DGTelevsionNetwork
Happy Wednesday, Scott!🍻
Good to see another video from you Scott. Are you surprised with the minimal damage, that it was totaled? Thx!!! Hope things are working out for you
Scott, I hope you get your shop back soon.. what I’d like to know from you, did Mr. Spotty escape the fire or was he trying to reheat a pizza with the torch. 🎉
He is one the run! They tried to take him in for questioning!
@@vehcorI thought he was in rehab
they bought it with profit from other doctor cars and liked it to show off. now they need to sell due to lack of sales some how lately after some yt vids.😁
I think if you had $275,000 you would probably put it towards the business! (Nice spacious shop with ample storage space for Scott’s Parts Emporium, an army of various Repair/Bodywork/Painting/Detailing Gnomes, all of the Tools of the Trade, and of course a couple of nice paint booths!)
*Thank you* Scott. I didn't see the front engine running so........🤷♂😁
Scott, love seeing these. been doing the rebuilds for personal cars for years. I have had real good luck until my last one. I differently knew to stay away from resellers and always went and looked at them in person. But i didn't on this one! I have googled the Vin to try and find the first wreck with no luck. what do you use to find the original Auction? Thanks, keep up the hard work.
As it’s fairly light damage, and looking the time when it was sold by insurance, it was issue with parts.
There’s probably heaps of light damage cars from 2020-2022 where cars were totaled, because parts supply issues and cars couldn’t get repaired in timely manner.
absolutely bonkers that such a minor accident caused it to be totaled
Actually it looked like that passenger side fender gap was right but due to the color and shadow the sunlight was making the inner fold light up instead of being shadowed. At any rate if it is off that 1/16 thats an easy fix.
I don't have 235K to spend. The closest I get is 2 nickels, a dime & maybe 3 coppers. Nice looking repair job. I would want to see in the frunk to see if the damage was repaired & not just parts replaced. Thanks for sharing
One thing about the panel gaps, that isn’t always a way to determine whether it’s been in an accident or not. Because when I had a 2022 Honda HRV, the hood gaps were bad. It was like 1/4 on the left, and 3/4 on the right. When I had a 2020 Chevrolet equinox, when the hood was closed, the right side was 1 inch gap above the headlight. The left side was 3/4 inch gap. Now I understand you know more about cars than I do, but I am just sharing this.
The Honda was likely damaged in shipping
Makes sense this one was done. Well, it's actually worth a pretty penny. Its a significant house downpayment on wheels
A little over 6 months and a little under 5k miles... must be a new record!
Looks better than the Goofsquad does.
Looks pretty good! Might have missed it, is this a salvage title?
No, this one is a clear title.
People do fit in the backseats, my girlfriend/ wife and I rode in the back seat of a friends 911 back in the 60’s. Probably have to be in your teens or younger, it was a wild ride and couple weeks later he rolled it over and totaled it.
At 55 years old, 6'5" with bad knees, I'd have to be extracted from the back seat like a bad tooth!
@@southstreetbarbecue7875😂😂
Hey Brother... please get your shirts up on your Amazon store so I can get a couple... much obliged.
Thanks and regards,
Scott, are the roll protection bars like the airbags and seatbelts in that they have to be sent in for rebuilding/recharging? Something I've wondered about...
That’s so much money!
It all looks good on the outside but what's it like underneath where they made the repairs? How good are they for that kind of money? I'd want to look more and closer to see what was actually done up on a hoist. 👍👍🙂🇨🇦
…this reminds me of quick Renovation jobs on houses to hide all the issues.. this car costs like a house used too… 😮
Literally had this happen to me run and drive hail damage………….hail damage really means head gaskets and warped heads I guess. I fixed it DIY but had I shopped it it would have been easy a 10k job for a car that was at most a 10k car.
The only thing that scares me about this repair is the $235,000 price tag!How much is a NEW one??
A arm and a leg
This is fun to watch Scott. Thanks for the entertainment and education. By the way, never take me seriously, or any auction vehicle. Which 3rd party are you working for now?
I’ll loan you the cash to buy that Porche Scott as long as somebody loans me it first. 😁
Deal! I’ll fix the fender gap for you! 😂
👍👍
Only scary about this car is the price!!!
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
that pass fender gap between the bumper and the fender is janky , it was definitely pushed in towards the hood
This one did look good, no drywall screws...unless they were color matched.
That is a change not having none hack job thanks
Scott what did they have to put into it? That would be cool to know?
The real questionable area is actually the back glass and rollover hoops.
Did they reset it properly or just remove it? Did they properly glue the glass so it doesn’t leak?
a weird gap in the door jamb area and interior trim, B pillar area @3:05
Can you provide a follow-up regarding how much it finally sold for (assuming it is still not unsold)? Just curious...
Remember a fool and his money are soon departed.lol.poor clet.
3:05 Is the gap left of the moulding left of the passenger seatbelt normal? Looks strange to me.
A car thats been recked for a dealer price, $200,000 Paaassss !
Im not ready to call this one a proper fix without seeing it in person. It does look good and might be fine but the small crease in the frame wasnt really shown and that along with yhe bad gap on the right side then i waould want to make sure it was repair d and not just pulled some with some more old fashion panel shims to finish off. Maybe they did fix it correctly and its all good but there is something still going on in the front. Is a nice car though
Scott do you ever go to the live auctions? Be kinda cool if you took us along.
It’s too cold around here now. I will in the summer!
@@vehcor Come down to see the Miami cars in person!
@@vehcor totally get it. I don't go to our local copart often because it's always raining and cold. Sounds like it's time to work on the mustang body swap project 😁😁😁
"nothing here scares me" yeah, the $235,000.00 buy it now price was enough to scare me ALL the way off this vehicle...plus the fact that it would cost both nuts and a kidney if something breaks lol
Is it just me or does the hood look wavy. Seems like they threw a bumper at it. Replaced the air bags and rops. And straightened the rest out
That is crazy that the insurance totaled that car for small amount of damage overall.
$175,000.00 to $235,000.00 price before and after price
$60,000.00 profit minus repair cost
Porsche parts can be crazy priced but even without taking that into consideration you don’t go about making repairs like this just to make a few dollars, it has to be worth it so good luck to them
I don't think anyone would spend $235K for Porsche with a wrecked history considering you can buy a brand new one for $210K.
@@COMMANDERFOX31 I don’t think they put that price there purely as a sale price, if they suck someone into it then they are laughing but it’s mostly done with the hope that some sucker will refer to it during the auction and fool them into believing that is what it’s worth so they bid higher
If the repairs were not documented in detail and done by a quality shop then the value of this car will be severely impaired. I doubt there will be many bidders at nearly a 1/4 million.
Now you know, if you have a cabriolet ALWAYS drive with the top down..... You don't want a wayward shopping cart to set off the roll-over protection.... 🙂
Looked up this car and they ran it over and over again, each successive auction brought a lower final bid and they seem to have pulled it entirely this week. They're getting hosed for sure on this one
In answer the intro of the video, there are channels like auto auction rebuilds that fo exactly that, in case someone wants to see what a legitimate repair entails.
They took off the badging in the back too during the repair.
What no drywall screws or spray foam ??
Jeez if that's the BIN price, what would it have been new?!
Man those things are expensive.
Had one of these w similar damage on a s. Thats not repairible. The entire front is aluminum and if there is any stress on the fire wall its done. Mine was about half and they said if the damage was 10mm further up it would have been totaled. Repair was 106k and i sold it as soon as i got it back
Paying $175k for a wrecked car seems pretty crazy to me. Hopefully they'll be able to sell it and make their money back.
I see this in a complete different industry (business/industrial) and our auctions have been ruined by new scummy flippers who have no idea what they’re buying, they just look up what something sells for on eBay. If there’s a penny of profit margin they’ll bid up to that point, but have no idea what valuation goes into the why something sells for what it does, and appear to forget auctions have substantial fees (10%+).
I routinely have people reach out attempting to “sell” something they “have” and send me cropped photos from the auction - as if I, a major reseller, am not already aware of current auctions. Knowing the state of things I usually tell them I’d pay some absurd price and watch the item get bid up past where it would possibly sell for, then let them learn the hard way you shouldn’t buy things you aren’t familiar with - particularly as these are often devices that require professional refurbishment, to sell for the going rate, much like cars.
The car auction sites have truly gotten out of hand though, everyone thinks they’re a RUclipsr/influencer, and how hard could it be anyway?
How's the shop going? Any update on when you'll be back to rebuilds?
In another video, he said that he was taking some time off to finish his bachelor's degree in Interpretive Dance.
The dancing was rough on my old knees so I have switched to underwater basket weaving!
@@vehcor Otherwise known as interpretive basket weaving

👍🏻
It’s possible that the guy who did the tear down, held back some parts when it originally went to the auction. Then tracked it, bought the car and put it together. It looks a little too well done for the regular hacks.
Some body guys have been known to make vehicles look worse when they get picked up, so they can buy them cheap.
This car is a no pull vehicle, it needs a tub and only a Porsche Certified shop can purchase the tub. This may have been at a non Certified shop and the insurance company didn’t want to move it, the front structure is cast aluminum and is not repairable, they may have had no choice
I have seen wealth clients get their cars totaled for almost no damage. If the owner has 12 cars 6 boats 4 businesses and 3 houses, the insurance company doesn’t want to upset him for $100k.
For that kind of money the car just needs to be perfect, I mean it's just a little cheaper than brand new. Makes no sense. They should be happy if they can even make any profit at all. The bumper didn't line up with the fender and the hood on the right either, looking from the front.
Anyone else notice that the drivers side rear wheel appears to be not sitting quite right? Rear suspension damage perhaps??
I think it is the pictures. The right side looked like that to me in one of them as well.
Be interested to see what it sells for - I think there might be a nice reward for labor in that. Let's say it sells for their 250k price tag, 75k gross profit, say 35k in parts, fees, transport - that's a 40k profit for the same number of hours you have in many of your builds.... higher risk, for sure, but greater reward.... dare I say it, maybe it's time to stop with the Grand Ams and start with the Porchas. Ooooo, and I just realized, you could move upmarket on sponsors - beard wax, skinny jeans.... those sellers would come running to your door! just think of it all.
I wonder what the fees were? Oh my!!!
Front alignment looks way off, actually into a positive caster. Not sure what is up with that.
Porsche needs to redesign the front end of the turbo S. This 992 generation looks like a frog 🐸 😂
Careful, although true, I am not sure how sensitive Porsche owners are! 😂
@@vehcor at least the front end of the older 991 generation had rounded off body pieces and smooth flowing panel to panel transitions. What the heck was Porsche thinking with this squared off hood design that protrudes past the fenders and into the bumper. Face palm 🤦🏼♂️ Porsche took the L with this one for sure.
is it me, did they change the color of the car? it looked silver in the original crash pics. After repair it looked charcoal gray.
Front end been wrecked.. door seals falling off.
Overall the car looked good. The only pics missing would have been from the bottom view while the car was on the lift.
$235,000 is a heck of a lot of money to spend to compensate for having a tiny..... well, I'll just leave it at that lol
