This Lexus RC-F deserves a closer look at the scammer's tricks

- I ran across this Lexus RC-F in the auction and had to do a little more research. This is one of those doctored up third party auction cars from the usual scammers, but they have learned some new tricks. I needed to be sure that what I thought I saw, I did indeed see, so a road trip was in order! Welcome to Miami!

So much time spent doctoring the car but forgot to paint the heads of the drywall screws white. Amateurs.
Your T-Shirt reminds me... what is Mr. Spotty's origin story? I've been a subscriber long enough to know about the trailer scream, but not sure if there is some interesting backstory related to Mr. Spotty. Also - I'd love to buy a Mr. Spotty coffee mug :-)
That Lexus looks like it played full contact football with construction vehicles and lost the game.
Twenty thousand in air bags alone ? No wonder these things get writen off.
Indeed, and if they're the LED headlights you can add on another $3-4k for the set. Repairs would be so expensive you wouldn't even bother; just buy a used one.
@@mattyb.5628true this engine 30k from Lexus too
Keep on exposing this FRAUDS Scott it is Shameful that these auctions are letting this type of robbery go on
You're onto something good, keep it rolling
Thanks Scott ! That was a surprise when you was there in person! To me that car looks like a piece of junk and would not even make much of a parts car .. Thanks for taking us along and thumbs UP!!
back seats, carpet, maybe some trim or suspension parts, that's about it.
It has many good parts though, the price is not right for the resale. It should be at 5k I'd say.
Going to the car in person made this so immersive. 🙌
I do want a rc-f but I would touch that one unless it was less than 10k
Thank you for all that you do. Hope you are recovering from the fire. Keep up the great work!
Can you go back and search some old scam cars to see if anyone actually fixed them? I'm curious if any victims bit the bullet and fixed them or took a beating auctioning them to some one else who took it on after buying it better.
It's not even Friday! LOVE IT
Looking forward to more vids from the miami lot....have seen some smokin deals down there, but been too paranoid to pull the trigger due to scammers like this...the live walk around was a great add on to this series...keep them coming scott💯🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👊
Look at this guy, live on location!
How is anyone legally selling cars without the airbags??
Because they're salvage vehicles.
They will be lucky if they get their original investment. Far too much damage to make it right unless you dig real deep into the wallet. Airbags & seatbelt cost is scary.
the GMC grille😂
YESSSSS PLEASE GO and look at these SCAM vehicles as this really brings to light on the scam.
Good content!!!! I'm sure YT profit will pay for the plane tickets
Well if you are hanging some drywall, those screws will come in handy!
Definitely need to know what to look for with these auction vehicles.
even copart will doctor up cars. Way back when I watched cleetus he went to look at some in person and you could tell it was done at the auction to pretty it up.
I love these videos, keep em coming!
Never buy any car in Miami
PROTIP: If the car has an Instagram account, very high probability that it's been beaten and not maintained
Like Instagram models.
I can see from a builder standpoint that that is not a good buy those cars started out at $65,000 new you got $20,000 in airbags and no telling how much in body and framework and then with me and they had frame damage it's always going to have that stigma to it as being an accident vehicle
Not even worth 12k worth of parts left if the engine is porentially FUBAR. .
Crazy amount of time the scammer spent trying to doctor it up
Making money off the scammer and a tax write off vaction. While informing the public and hopefully costing scammers lost sales. Btw you can write off 1/2 your meals while on the road. I always Google those vins.
Do Not buy from Auction unless you know what you are doing!
I buy from government auctions. The asset always matches the description
The goonzquad bought car doctored up car. They should have watched your past videos. 2023 BMW M3. Keep the vids coming!
An extremely informative video. I'm currently looking at the RC-F and LC 500. Thank you.
Hello I'm subscribed to your channel like 2 weeks ago and I think you are awesome rebuilding cars.. I will buy a car from you with my eyes closed😊 I'm from Orlando Florida
Man these comments….
Wish I had the bigger ending in my small car. People would probably just try to race all day, not so much in the 350. Unfortunate this one is pretty ruined. It seems like the RCs get totaled if anything happens to them, regardless of the trim/engine (due to costs).
RC F is a nice car, how could they destroy it like that, entire front and back is gone. I wonder who will buy such a rebuilt car. The frame is warped, I seriously doubt rebuilding such a car is never gonna restore it. RIP.
Pretty much a turd. Probably too new for there to be much market for the engine/transmission, if the powertrain is any good.
The seller's bank must be pretty dim. This builder is probably borrowing a lot of money to try flipping stuff like this. And maybe they are paying back the loans but the lender is supposed to know their customer. Ouch.
Some folks just work so hard at doing nothing. SMH
Looking at the photos after it was doctored, I was expecting it to look worse in the before photos. Your inspection pretty much showed up what we were all expecting.
Hey Scott, you ought to wear safety orange more often!Too bad the car was crap, woulda made a great vid series.Sad the seller's spent more time doctoring it when they could have used that time fixing it.Oh well.
Nice car. Too bad it comes with a $40k repair bill plus whatever you pay for the actual car, fees, etc. For that much, you can buy a clean title one and drive it home.
Good investigating Scott you'd never see the fine details in the pictures like you see them there in person.
You still in Miami? Would you consider opening a shop down here? If so, let’s grab a beer and talk shop!
RUclips Salvage repair shows have made people think they can do the same and don't have enough experience to know it's been faked like that
Ive noticed it’s bad in Houston Florida and New Jersey! I’m all the way in Kansas so I don’t have these issues If I can’t put my hands on it I don’t buy it! I miss the days growing up when it was a silent and in person bidding now it’s just a crap shoot even when you put hands on it your bidding against the cartel or other money launders I wish that would get some attention
It's been a while since you've talked about the shop rebuilding or the search for a new to you building. You also threw around the idea of road tripping to another shop to work on a car. Was that to much trouble?
Good to see you again, Scott!🍻
Re-marketing cars at the insurance auctions, is this a new thing or just more prevalent today? Seems to be a deceiving practice that should be illegal.
Thanks, this had some eye-opening insights into salvage attempts by craptacular auto seller.
Thank you scott for taking the time to point this out. I see this in my business as well , And it's funny.I remember you when I think Hey, I can get away with cutting a corner now!
What methods are you using to get these types of in depth pictures for these vehicles both before and after ?? Thanks
I think i happened to see this vehicle listed on OVE a few weeks ago. I was looking at RCFs and happened to see a white one listed with a buy it now of $25000 and even though i dont mess with branded title cars i had to look, saw the missing headlights so i google searched the vin and saw thay photo without the fender, yikes!
Don't the auctions frown upon taking videos on their property? Or were you using a hidden camera?
It would be interesting to see how much it would actually cost to fix the car (if you were dumb enough to buy it).
People need to stop paying top dollar for cars they never seen I’m tired of being outbid for a car that clearly has more damage than photos then laugh
Airbags all deployed. That's a total. Structural damage.
ours was totaled a month ago. that oil spot is from the engine oil cooler having a hole poked in it. its all RCF on everything.
Too bad, they are cool cars too, lots of fun to drive when working like new....
Thanks for the video. Pretty sure that sign language is gibberish tho...
They also removed the front reinforcement bar to hide the shift of the unibody.
They're basically destroying a good drift car......
I would love something like this in Ghana to do a body swap with a mid seventies Celica
I don't know why anybody would buy that car. It's probably nothing good in it. 👍👍🙂🇨🇦
goonzquad should've watched your videos..lol!
Hey Scott. Any movement on the Mustang that we are not supposed to talk about?
This is what we get when youtubers are continually buying the cheapest cars sight unseen.
Found your car was shopping around for a rebuilt to do and run into the car you are talking about
The DG makes perfect sense now, Drywall screws & Glue.
Awesome info. Discussing that people can get away with this.
I now see where all the ex car audio installer hacks that use the crap out of drywall screws went to work lol
Did you notice the rub marks in the RR fender well where the tire came in and hit the front of it?
You came to my neck of the woods. Open up a shop down here we need great repair shops..
It's sad that IAAI and Copart won't do more to protect their buyers!
You should go fid them and have a chat to them. That would be funny.
Adding a comment because the like button is missing; like.
Sad people do this. Thanks for these videos.
Make a muscle on your next video. Just curious 😊😊
I got an idea. Try putting your hands in your pockets.
Nice twist on the video. As I was watching I was thinking that you need a team of volunteers all over the country to visit the cars in person to confirm or refute what you see , but then you did it yourself!
Any update on when / if you are getting back to builds? Maybe you need a new series: “driveway builds.” In the interim.
Vinwiki-car gurus service.
looks like rebuilt wreck to me. no close examination needed.
I wish you would say year and price at beginning
I been seeing this a close to me for a few weeks lmao glad to see a video on it
So many dry wall screws, this must be an HGTV car!
"Fixer Upper" aye?
Time 521 Note the " Lambo " folding mirror
This is amazing! How do they get away with this...
Is this what they mean by patch job??????? 🤣🤣
Did you bring something home?
That'll be a parts car.
Good video.
can i use my pillow for the air bags?
I want to know did you buy that ford in back ground
Pretty much never get a car from Miami
I'll take that to my detailer it'll all buff out
That’s easily $50k to fix
Awesome video Scott. Think I'll stick with my 2012 Taurus for a few more yrs. Who needs headaches like that.
It's kool that you were able to get away for a bit. I'm sure it was for more than to do a video. I'm just wondering what you bought. I'm guessing it's probably a Pontiac GrandAm or One of those Mustang things 😂. 🚗🚗🚗
You do a remarkable job educating the public about vehicle scammers. I'll probably nominate you for a RUclipsy Award. If there was such a thing. 👍👍👍
Wrecks can be floorplanned?
It’s really very hard to wreck an RCF, being young and dumb will prove any comment wrong in that sense. This thing is lucky it doesn’t have the carbon roof like mine, that alone is a 14k part to replace. Get it cheap, pull the engine and part out what ever is good, that puddle is probably from the oil cooler that is just above. Great job calling out scammers.
Thanks Scott, the Goonzquad should have watched these, maybe they would have gotten Jammed up on their new build!
I would think that panel over the airbag would have been a blatent fraud move. Rather than it looking like someone just didn't know what they were doing to actually purposfully trying to pull the wool over people's eyes.
It looked like a nice car before the accident.
Who are they trying to sell this too?
Missing the outro music :(
Man Scott, what a POS! That is horrible trying to deceive the public. Seems like there should be some recourse, but that’s dreaming I’m sure. Thank God, you are there. There service you provide to those that will listen is amazing. Thank you.😊
They say to never buy a 3rd party vehicle and this is proof in the pudding. Sadly it'll get sold to an uninformed buyer...
