If Sonic fans ever do something like this for Sonic Adventure, Heroes, or even Shadow The Hedgehog (which I'm a rare percentage that would play that) we won't even need to pester Sega for "Remakes". Especially when said remakes would most likely not be in-engine the way this is. It's literally just a glorified facelift that's extremely faithful. Edit: The Adventure Era fully remade including Sonic P-06 is quite surreal.

Though with Sonic Heroes/Shadow The Hedgehog, I played those often on Dolphin at 4K so I know where you're coming from there. Making Shadow's game actually more fun, and encouraging people to play it to completion would be a miracle. That game has untapped potential just like Secret Rings did. Though that comparison isn't so direct due to their stark set of problems
As someone who has been very critical of this mod in the past, just because I just love vanilla SA2 so much, I can say this update has FINALLY helped me see the vision and I’m genuinely excited to try it out! Great work you guys!
You know I had an idea in this (HEAR ME OUT) Roblox game called pyrite adventure 2 they make emerald shards glow a bit to avoid the problem of the shards being right next to you but you cant see them. I love this change because instead of staring at the Radar part of finding them is looking for that noticeable green glow around an object or enemy. Why not implement that
Ayt so we can’t add a glow, BUT Hoppy just saw your comment and made the emerald shards more visible! They now sport a brighter texture and have different lighting for higher visibility! Many thanks for your suggestion!
I don't think I've ever seen a Sonic game, fanmade or official, with such gorgeous and expressive animation. You outdo yourself with each update and I'm so happy to follow this project.
Seeing 10:12 made my eyes widen as I remember the countless attempts where I tried to either get on or jump over that area as a kid. The mod looks great btw!
I love this. I think that once you update the stage textures, models, and enemies down the road, you should get some people to reanimate the cutscenes. However, I’d say that you need to keep the in-game voices as the original then for consistency. This project is incredible though. Finally a great remaster is on the way!
This looks amazing, and the editing before the gameplay was playful and fun. The new animation sets look striking, and much better than recent Sonic games. 9:19 The hair flow is a touch of realism that's really fitting for SA2, considering the amount of different locations/climates the cast goes to. It's likely a cold, windy night during Radical Highway, so great implementation there. Subtle but understated.

i wonder if the multiplayer will get the missing levels that were in story stages like green hill for race mode or pyramid cave that isnt just the rail race. etc. it would really expand the game in a way ontop of all these changes and improvements that would truly make modern sa2 the best version of the game we have!
i really like how sonic's running animation feels sorta like a blend of modern sonic and sa2 sonic. the modern games made sonic's running animation feel too smooth for my liking, like he was weightless or something, i always liked how sonic sorta moves up and down at full speed in sa2, like he had some weight to his movement. the way it looks here has that same general feel of boost sonic, but it still looks like he has said weight to him, very well done
Bro the Shadow skating animation is just peak at it's purest. He doesn't skate slower when he becomes faster and that's just awesome. He has that energy that even SXSG lacks. This is truly incredible.
This is beyond amazing and I love it so much. I can't wait for the full release! The Chao gardens looks beautiful! Are the Chao themselves getting overhauls? Will that work with the likes of Chao World Extended and chao-mods?
Glad you like it! Yeah this should work just fine with CWE. I use Shaddatic’s ECW and the gardens work perfectly. I won’t be touching the Chao models as there’s a ton of models to work on.

Fun fact:i can install this mod (MSA2) in my ps3, but be careful, if you full install this mod to sa2 ps3 version, it will crash when you play some stages (excluding: karts), so i just install the necessary parts to make sure the game run normally, and now i can play msa2 on my ps3. Note:i don't know are this work on other ps3, but it works normally on my ps3 (make sure you don't full install msa2 mods in ps3, only necessary parts)
Yeah only the texture archives and music are gonna work on PS3/Xbox 360 for MSA2 specifically. Consoles freak out when there’s more than one sound effect for a sound cue, so that crashes. Everything custom will crash or not be read. Best to stick with the PC version for mods as console players are missing out on all the fixes & projects made via code and custom assets.
Like, this is REALLY good and cool, but I have one massive criticism. That truck engine does not sound good..! It sounds like a drag racer kicking into high gear and going down a 2 mile strip. Gotta' get the BIG TRUCK ENGINE.
I love this already i had a critique for Sonic's voice in the older build I didn't like his voice in the trial but it seems a bit better now thanks to this video so other than that can't wait to play this once it releases.
If you pause here at 3:21 and slow it down you can see she got a different suit design, Still has the classic gloves and boots but the body suit has a sort of Prime-esque design with the Magenta top.
this is probably why SEGA doesn't really do remasters or remake of there older sonic games since they know the community will make it for them and will have fun seeing how it looks in the end. can't wait for the mod to be complete this looks great.
I really wish they'd split this mod up into separate components. The models, textures, and animations are really nice, and feel appropriate for a "remaster"ing of the game. The sound effects and voice acting changes however don't feel appropriate at all; the SFX sound way too realistic for the anime aesthetic the game's going for, and having the voice actors change in gameplay is just jarring. I don't know if it's still in this version, but having City Escape start with an invisible offscreen police force yelling "We will use LETHAL FORCE IF WE HAVE TOO" was just wrong. It makes it feel less "modern" and more "amateur tweaks".
I’m not really doing anything different to what Sonic Team, or any developer, does. Combination of stock sounds (which a lot of them are real recordings), using unique sounds and combining multiple sounds for one sound effect. MSA2 still keeps the crunch that SA2 had with its sound design. However, I use that distortion and crunch tastefully where needed rather than everywhere. Sonic deserves to have good sound design. This game barely reaches an anime aesthetic. It’s the infamous “low poly but real as heck” style everyone had in the 2000s. SA2 with the anime artstyle would make the game look completely different 😂

My biggest criticism is in City Escape: 1. It seems too easy to break off the level... Am i right? I saw that there were some parts of buildings that were just not finished when you did go on the road over the fist part (where you compared the reworked sounds). 2. The huge truck following you... Its sounds is so off putting because it's should be "lower" sound... More bass somehow... It sounds like you took a Formula1 sound in loop. Else, i'm really looking forward to test your work, i love the new routes & i like that some parts have Sonic able to run vertically :)
It's such a peak bro, like fr. The models are so perfect, they just look like teenagers, slightly higher than in SA1 but still really cool. The only thing I need in life is support for cutscenes, fuck reanimating, it's worthless and waste of time, just make these models work with existing files and it will be THE definitive way to play this game.
Maybe it would feel better when playing myself, but the degree that the FOV changes in gameplay seems a bit dramatic and a little motion-sick inducing. Maybe make the shifts less drastic. But everything else looks great
The models and animations are tied with code due to how we have to load common animations, which means you can’t play without them until we have it fully sorted out

This remake looks fire and all but that muzzle design on shadow does not fit him at all, i think its better to stick to the original facial profile and not overdo the curvature on the muzzle alot of sonic modders forget that if youre gonna add a more exxagerated design aspect you should modify the other aspects to fit that change if u were to keep the original eye shape and thin out the muzzle to it looks more similar to the original model of shadow i think the model would look way more appealing both design and flow wise
Yeah so for some reason this doesn't work for me I think u need to update it bc I am using the SA mod manager not the SA2 Mod manager and I did follow every step but my game still crashes
Honest to God is there a chance you make a version without the different music m voice acting? Don't like it at all. Also for the car section wouldn't it have been better to use the tsr designs? And last but must important thoughts on using rtx remix when everything else is done to make the game look actually next gen? Don't get me wrong your work here looks good just very obviously limited by the engine rtx remix could fix that and make it look like it was made with ue5 if you wanted. A lot of work to pull that off but doable.
Will you ever make the Dreamcast Chao Gardens compatible? I like what you've done with them in this build, but it feels empty without the extra scenery
The Dreamcast version layout of the Hero & Dark Gardens (since the neutral one is basically the same as in sa2b) with this amount of polish & high quality would be CRAZY omg i REALLY hope they add in optional different versions for the gardens so that we can still have the modernized high quality without having to lose the Dark Garden cave & the little Hero Garden bridge 🥺👉🏽👈🏽💙💛❤💖💞
The Hero Garden has a DC variant that’s almost done, so rest assured this WILL be happening! For the final release of the mod, this will be an option you can toggle in the mod’s configuration!
There will never be a better looking model than SA2 OG character models. All they need is smooth edges. I hate the way modern Sonic games made them look dorky and baby like.
I don't know why after SA2 they made Sonic's quills softer, bendable, like hair. In the original SA2, they bounced up and down a little bit, but without that swingy, floppy, soft movement. And Shadow's air skating animation in the original SA2 was the best one. He really moved like he was rollerskating. Now, after SA2, he seems to swing his arms too far and stiffly, and he doesn't properly hover off the ground when the light appears from the holes in his shoes like he did in the original game. There are transition speeds from walking, fast-paced walking (like he's starting to roll) but not hovering yet, and hovering (then different animations for hovering speed). But it's still better than Frontiers. Even though it's not an open world, it feels more free, like the original SA2.
@@ShuzakuItachi dude yes! I have this theory that the original 3D Sonic team from SA1 and SA2 were going an action sports route. Skateboarding snowboarding rollerblading style. It was the year 2000 and all the hip hop rock and street culture was big and Sonic always had that “way past cool” attitude and they made shadow even better. SA2 even featured the soap shoes that heelys ended up buying out. Rail grinds, skating on the streets of San Fran. Shadows movements like you said were more legit and seamless. All of it was so good. I have noooo idea why they strayed from that.
Nahh man. SA era games have on/off slope physics. Might be due to you seeing a lot of pop-in if you went this fast on Dreamcast, or they just wanted partial slope physics? Idk. Just glad SA2 feels amazing to play with them fully active.
@@TheeMentorDex I wonder if there’s a standalone mod for that? That’s weird that the Adventure games have hit-or-miss slope physics since the Genesis games are so iconic for that reason.

Well Adventure 1 has PKR'S Dreamcast Mod installer, but for Heroes and Shadow I only play them on Dolphin with 4k enhancements

This is god tier. My only thing I'd change is I'd lower the volume of Sonic's running sound a bit if the camera is that far back from him.

Perhaps in the future. The main goal was the have a good base for the gardens and I think I did a decent job on that.

Hope this update fixes the game crashing when I play the Rouge or Knuckles levels
You ever think of using RTX Remix after finishing everything? Could give it that last bit of graphical polish to truly make it look modern

Think you could make an option to turn sonic's arms blue and have original voices?
This remake looks fire and all but that muzzle design on shadow does not fit him at all, i think its better to stick to the original facial profile and not overdo the curvature on the muzzle
alot of sonic modders forget that if youre gonna add a more exxagerated design aspect you should modify the other aspects to fit that change
if u were to keep the original eye shape and thin out the muzzle to it looks more similar to the original model of shadow i think the model would look way more appealing both design and flow wise
this is not a remake this is just remastered graphics lol

Yeah so for some reason this doesn't work for me I think u need to update it bc I am using the SA mod manager not the SA2 Mod manager and I did follow every step but my game still crashes

Im having an issue with the msa2 trial v3 where shadow and sonic have like square shadows around there hands.
Change the player shadows in SA2 Render Fix’s config menu from “Dreamcast (Modifiers)” to “Enhanced w/ Upgrades”

Honest to God is there a chance you make a version without the different music m voice acting? Don't like it at all.
Also for the car section wouldn't it have been better to use the tsr designs?
And last but must important thoughts on using rtx remix when everything else is done to make the game look actually next gen? Don't get me wrong your work here looks good just very obviously limited by the engine rtx remix could fix that and make it look like it was made with ue5 if you wanted. A lot of work to pull that off but doable.

Will you ever make the Dreamcast Chao Gardens compatible? I like what you've done with them in this build, but it feels empty without the extra scenery
The Dreamcast version layout of the Hero & Dark Gardens (since the neutral one is basically the same as in sa2b) with this amount of polish & high quality would be CRAZY omg
i REALLY hope they add in optional different versions for the gardens so that we can still have the modernized high quality without having to lose the Dark Garden cave & the little Hero Garden bridge 🥺👉🏽👈🏽💙💛❤💖💞
The Hero Garden has a DC variant that’s almost done, so rest assured this WILL be happening! For the final release of the mod, this will be an option you can toggle in the mod’s configuration!

There will never be a better looking model than SA2 OG character models. All they need is smooth edges. I hate the way modern Sonic games made them look dorky and baby like.
I don't know why after SA2 they made Sonic's quills softer, bendable, like hair. In the original SA2, they bounced up and down a little bit, but without that swingy, floppy, soft movement.
And Shadow's air skating animation in the original SA2 was the best one. He really moved like he was rollerskating. Now, after SA2, he seems to swing his arms too far and stiffly, and he doesn't properly hover off the ground when the light appears from the holes in his shoes like he did in the original game. There are transition speeds from walking, fast-paced walking (like he's starting to roll) but not hovering yet, and hovering (then different animations for hovering speed).
But it's still better than Frontiers. Even though it's not an open world, it feels more free, like the original SA2.
@@ShuzakuItachi dude yes! I have this theory that the original 3D Sonic team from SA1 and SA2 were going an action sports route. Skateboarding snowboarding rollerblading style. It was the year 2000 and all the hip hop rock and street culture was big and Sonic always had that “way past cool” attitude and they made shadow even better. SA2 even featured the soap shoes that heelys ended up buying out. Rail grinds, skating on the streets of San Fran. Shadows movements like you said were more legit and seamless. All of it was so good. I have noooo idea why they strayed from that.

Nahh man. SA era games have on/off slope physics. Might be due to you seeing a lot of pop-in if you went this fast on Dreamcast, or they just wanted partial slope physics? Idk. Just glad SA2 feels amazing to play with them fully active.
@@TheeMentorDex I wonder if there’s a standalone mod for that? That’s weird that the Adventure games have hit-or-miss slope physics since the Genesis games are so iconic for that reason.
@HelperUnknownGB There is! I’ve had this in development for a while now, but recently had to shelf it to focus on MSA2. It’s a little bugged, so I’d wait until the mod gets updated next month.
