Price is a bit steep. It should really be linked to the hue account and not the TV.
I agree for this reason alone i will skip it.
Shame this is only for 2022+ TVs I have a 2021 q95 😢
I think it should be free to the people that owns the hue synch box that cost 200 and use it at anytime!!
That’s what I don’t really understand. The hdmi sync box is basically the sync app, but more expensive? Don’t they basically do the same thing? The only difference I could find is that the box also has a music option. I’m still not sure which one I should buy.
@@BlackWhisper29The sink box won't do the image on the screen unless you have like a fire stick connected to it. So I mean it's not ideal either, but at least you don't have to buy it again when you get a new TV. I have the sink box and just bought a Samsung TV and was thinking about it but I just can't bring myself to paying another hundred and something dollars
As a buyer of the Hue Sync Box and a recent owner of an Xbox Series X console, I am deeply offended and disappointed by the behavior of Philips Hue.
Not only does the firmware update for the hdmi box stop at 4k 120hz signal support, but even by releasing an application it makes you understand that it's not a hardware issue but simply a software one.
From my point of view Philips Hue should provide the app for free to the owners of the Sync hue box or should allow them to buy it for a maximum of 49 Dollars
I dont understand why people keep asking if the app is compatible with their TVs while the man and video description clearly states the app is for 2022 and later model Samsung TVs.. Good review by the way. But way pricey. I already have hue sync box but could buy the app for the benefit of 120hz support if it was cheaper. And it is absolutely ridiculous to use the app on only one TV. What if my tv gets broken and Samsung cant fix it and changes it with a new one?
I would imagine that you buy it on your samsung account? At least that's what I hope.
Thank you for doing a video in English, I found it really helpful.
You did great in English, love your accent 😊
Hope no one buy this shit. What a stupid and greedy ideia. This model if bussiness is similiar to what Vodafone/Samsung did with Smartthings in Germany: you needed a 5€ subscription a month during 2 years. When the hub breaks, you need to buy a new one and start your 2 years subscription all over again.
I'm ok with the cost of the app, but they should really at least allow it to be used with up to 2 TVs with one account in case you have to make a warranty replacement claim or similar.
As a first time buyer I was going to choose the sync box, because of it not being locked to one TV, but then I learned that the sync box, still needs an expensive ‘’firestick’’ to work. So I’m going with the App. The money that I save on the App vs. Sync box + Firestick, saves me enough money to buy 2 more licenses for furture televisions.
Great video! I was very curious about this app and turns out it works on my 2022 Samsung OLED!
Unable to find the Hue Sync app on my region's App Store, I decided to change regions. I own the UEC75CU7100UXTK (likely the CU7000D model) and attempted to switch to both the USA and Germany regions without success in locating the app. As a last resort, I created a Samsung USA account, performed a reset, and set up the TV with the USA region and account. However, the Hue Sync App still doesn't appear in the App Store search. Do you have any suggestions on how I can successfully install and run it? Thanks.
Any news of it coming to other TV brands?
I have had bad experience with Samsung TVs and don’t plan on buying from them anytime soon.
Just buy an Philips TV ambilight saves you from buying the lights which are really costly
will the light sync work if i purchase the app on my samsung tv and use apple tv which is connected through the HDMI port of the tv to watch all my shows?
£100 plus £180 for the gradient strip for a 65" TV! For some lights!!! That's crazy. Surely it would make sense just to give the app away for free as it would generate more sales of the lights. I don't know a single person who has a light strip for their TV so you'd think they would want to generate some sales?
The only benefit Philips TV have over others is their integrated Ambilight. If they would give away the app for free, and sell the lights for dumping prices, nobody would want to buy a Philips TV anymore. They would ruin themselves. Would make no sense whatsoever, from a business perspective. I think it is already generous enough of them to allow other brands to integrate/use the only thing that sets their TVs apart from others, Ambilight (Samsung App, Syncbox), even if it is for a steep price.
@@michaeljafnhar5842 Except Philips TV manufacturer and Philips HUE manufacturer are not the same Philips. Ambilight TV belongs to TPV, the HUE system (lights, syncbox and the application presented in this video) belongs to Signify. Add the fact that for stupid business reasons, Ambilight TVs from 2023 don't have integrated HUE compatibility anymore (you must use a syncbox with these models).
Do not see the app on my 2022
55” QN700B Neo QLED 8K HDR Smart TV (2022)

Also im on the 3rd one of these Tvs due to screen issues(2021 model) what happens if this TV breaks ? i have to buy it again ? I want to replace the sync box , but come on £130 each time ?
and i'm in the UK
@@anaisyourfriend lol I’m in UK but a TV from Costco when it breaks they give you another tv or the money you paid for that Tv even if you bought it 4 years and 11 months ago. Just got a brand new Philips ambilight and it’s amazing what these lights do.
Sheesh Phillips lighting stuff is always ridiculously over priced.
I don't see this app coming any time to Apple TV, but I hope it comes to other TV Platforms like Android TV or WebOS. And of course, they should improve the licensing, what if I want to upgrade my TV?
Work with the Samsung qn60b and devices connected via hdmi as a Fire tv cube or only work 💡🚦with content from the 📺🤔
Should come out on LG Oleds
Do you need to buy Philips hue bridge or only lights to use it with app?
You still need hue bridge to use the app
It would be the best if the app's license is tied to your samsung account just like what every app store
Damn I have a 2020. Looks like ima have to upgrade
what does it take to make it work? Is an LED strip glued to the back of the TV housing enough? must it be a Philips LED? do you still need a bridge from Philips? do you need a module to synchronize all this? do you need a Philips Play HDMI Sync Box?
You need the Hue Gradient ledstrip. NO sync box is needed if you have this app
Dose the Hue work also when using HDMI suorce?
Can you explain the connection between the tv and lights and sync box? Oh my precious TV, I had a sync box that was HDMI output to the TV, HDMI inputs for Fire Stick, and power outlet that connects the hue lights. Are you saying you don’t need the sync box at all? How do you connect the lights?
130 euro is a lot just for syncing your app, but then again there is no proper alternative of the same quality. What I do really dislike is that you cannot even carry over your Hue license to a new TV but you have to buy a new one. Just because of that I would not want to get it.
Does the app still work properly if you connect your TV and sources through an AV Receiver? I hate how my Hue Sync box is connected between my TV and AV Receiver and want to remove it.
Every HDMI Signal is also fine.
I will go with AmbiVision....Philips setup costs 3x more for the same efect.
Does that do hdmi 2.1 120hz?
@@thunderbuddy93 yes, it is a camera based solution. Check more online.
@@kakamistrz1990 I had the Govee. Camera is good but it's not instant like the Hue (majority of the time you won't notice unless you are watching a colour wheel like this but worth noting).
Not worth it won’t work as good as Philips Hue and won’t be accurate either.
That app will be cracked in no time.
Literally not paying $130 for software that I don't own. Either charge more upfront for the feature on the TV, or let me buy it and keep it forever. But fuck this "you'll own nothing" greed.
Scammers. They should be in jail
Hi. Top Video!
do we need to get a separate philip hue sync box if i want to connect to playstation 5?
No
Anyone try installing the APK on a 2021 TV? Will it work if the license is purchased? Don’t see why this wouldn’t work with the QN900A
Go ahead and do it if you don’t see why it wouldn’t work on a 2021 model.
Processor power might be not enough on older TVs
hello, do i need a hue bridge aswell or just the app then the lights? thankyou
Yes the app isn’t bridge
Do you even reply? Want to know if this work with 4K/120hz and VRR? Im on Ps5
Is the color delay in real as bad as shown in the video or does it feel neglectable?
Normally you are not watching color wheels, so you really don't notice any delays in normal use. Not more than with the Sync Box...
It is real bad and it shows. Using the actual sync box is way better in that matter. Also, the app does not sync music, like the box does
Just one question. I have the 2022 55QN85B. Search time after time but the tv appstore does not find it. Internet connection is very good and tv has latest updates. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
Also no Hue Sync app on Samsung App Store in Croatia on my 75QN90B!
Same. I have Q80b 😞
@@almondv it seems they are working on it via a software update. And good to hear that more people have this problem. Keep me posted if you will.
@@bertholdwennink9539 I will for sure. please do the same when you finally get it.
@@almondv i absolutely will. Last news is there will be an update in june. We'll keep in touch.
It would be extremely annoying if your TV failed and was replaced under warranty and you had to shell out another £130 for the app
I can clearly see a big delay between screen and hue lights. Its not responsive
Ypure English is actually VERY good! - An American!
Good review thank you. Can you confirm if this works when disconnected from the internet? (I know I would have to connect to internet in order to download the app itself)
Did u ever find that out? I don't want my brightness potentially nerfed on my s95b lmao
@@HoodRed69 yeah you need to upgrade from 1319 to at least 14xx. I'm not unhappy with the brightness. There's tweaks in the service menu if you want to get it back
@thebatjon so after you bought the app for Phillips hue sync can you disconnect the internet and still use the lights? With no internet
@@HoodRed69 no it's connected via internet to your hue bridge which will be connected to your router. It's an internet required thing as far as I can tell
@thebatjon oof almost like Samsung and Phillips are in cahoots to nerf our displays through software updates lmao that way not only would we have to buy a new tv but also new hue sync app license
I guess we got our answer as far as when a new sync box was coming out.
Does the app have the ability to sync the lights with music? I did not see a music mode as an option in your video.
It should I have an ambilight Philips Tv and there’s an option for syncing music with the lights so I’d hope so this new app should do the same
@lilnash7 I'm waiting to see a few more video reviews before I purchase the app. I'm returning my sync box today, so I'll probably end up buying the app even if it doesn't sync with music.
@@GeoTheBlaxican yeah this is a game changer hopefully this app comes on all tvs I couldn’t justify the price of the sync box plus the lights plus the fact sync box don’t support 120K hz so ended up getting a Philips mini led AmbilightTV and it’s really amazing what these lights do lol
@lilnash7 If I wasn't such a Samsung slut, I may have strongly considered getting an Philip ambilight TV. I've spent $1,000.00 bucks on my current Hue setup 😔
I activated the app and works well.. the sync on streaming apps its a heavy plus.. but the audio sync option is not available atm... maybe in a future update?
Mine won’t even connect to my bridge
Can you also make automations on my iPhone like the sync box? So I can switch input + sync mode (game, video, sound)?
i have QN90B, The only way I could install it is by changing the country store, in this case the United States store, but they let you run some apps, like star+
Having the same issue, how do you change the region
@@mesul6an don't use the vpn
So does this mean it’s 120hz?
It says 120 Hz is supported on the website
@@benjaminapeterson nice!! Maybe this is their way of getting out of making new hardware.
How are the lights connected? Do they need to plug into the tv (in place of the sync box) or are they independent?
The lights don't connect to the sync box. Both the sync box and this app connect wirelessly to the Hue Bridge and that's what controls the lights (wirelessly).
@@GlibShpychka thank you.
Is this also available for samsung qled of 2021?
Unfortunately not.
Does this app solve the issue of the 120hz ?
Yes
There is a splitter you could buy from Amazon that will pass on a separate 1080p signal to the hue sync box so that you could have 4K 120Hz VRR working. It's pricey at $150 though. I recently got it and was able to do it for my Series X but not my PS5 for some reason.
@@volcalstone thanks! in the end i bought the app, solved the 120hz issue and removed a lot of wires
@@gv3376 coo. I just kinda hate the idea that it's only for Samsung TVs. Not only that but it's per TV as well. I do have both a Sony and Samsung OLED. As of right now I could have lights on both TVs working with just a single sync box. Just kinda sucks that it isn't working with my PS5 at this time. The splitter is putting out an image but the sync box isn't picking it up for some reason while it does for the Series X. Strange but we'll see if I could fix this.
@gv3376 does the app have the ability to sync the lights to music?
It does shows up in Samsung Canada stores😢
It does?
Thank you for the quick video. I would love to have this app, but it needs to run on the 2022 Frame TV. I want to buy that one, but I cant find if the 2022 Frame is compatible; only that 2022 models above Q60 are, but Frame has a different model naming structure. Can anyone tell me?
I was able to download the app on 55" Frame 2022. But did not try it yet because of the price.
@@basrutgers79 Dank!

how to buy this app ? i have a samsung qn90b and s95b but in apps i can not find philips hue app there is no
Not all the apps are in the Samsung app store for all regions. If you know how to change your region, you will see it. I changed my tv region to USA and I can use all the apps that are not in my region (Turkey)
@@yamahaplayer hey man thanks for reply, is it easy to change country to USA ? Then i can use all app and buy?
@@JustDoIt-ng2mh yeah very easy. Requires a complete reset tho. Go to settings/support/device care/self diagnose/reset smart hub.. And then tv will restart. When Terms of Use appear on screen, press Mute, Volume Up, Channel Up, Mute buttons. And then when regions come to screen, press Mute, volume up, channel up, mute again and select USA or whatever region u want to use.. Hope this helps
@@yamahaplayer Hello, I'm also in Turkey. I have a television with the code Samsung UEC75CU7100UXTK (I believe it's the CU7000D model). I reset the TV and changed the region to the USA, but I still can't see the application in the store. How did you manage to do it, can you help? Thank you.
@ Hello. First you need to reset your smart hub. Then tv will restart and terms and conditions page will appear. At this page press mute/volume up/channel up/mute buttons. Then a list of countries will appear on screen and then choose the desired country.
Is the delay in game mode better than in this demo?
game mode and high intensity makes it less delaying the colorchange. the win pc app is the same but the win app don’t support hdcp which you can just use it for games or youtube or local videos. i don’t know if i shoud wait a bit for price dropping. this tizen app is i have been waiting for long, but didn’t meant to be that expensive 😢
Thanks for this video. It helped me decide to return my unopened sync box and just go ahead and download this application on my new Samsung.
The one downside I can say is that I have to exit applications like Netflix to open the Philips hue sync app to make adjustments to the brightness or intensity. I wish I could do that from my phone, without interruption what I’m watching. Would be nice for it to be seamless like that.
Another interesting thing.. I like to have the intensity all the way down and the brightness at about 40%. Seems super distracting when the intensity is higher than that.. anybody else run into that? Just curious what everyone else’s experience has been with this tv app so far, since it’s so new. Cheers
Thank you great video ! Does it work with the QN90B ?
I think so, its a 2022 and higher than Q60.
I have the qn90b but i cant find the hue app

140? for an app??? is it a joke??? after all the money that we spent on these lights. fortunately i have an lg oled, not a sh…y samsung, it doesn’t work on LG
I have a philips ambilight tv in the past, now i have a samsung 75" qn95b and im considering to buy this app. I like the option thats turn on the ambilight just turning on the TV and its work with every content, not only the hdmi inputs, like the hue sync box..
You think the experience its something like native ambilight?? (Using the gradient lightstrip kit for 75") also i have 2 play bars and 3 e27 hue bulbs
Yo are the only person that shows the app working, thanks!
the gradient lightstrip is the same as ambilight ( thats what i see through many videos)
play bars will work
Yes mate it should work just the same as the Ambilight TV
So with this app u don't need sync box and bridge just lights strip or so ?
You need the bridge
No you still need the bridge just not a sync box
@@ItsTrizzy262 so whats the point to buy app if u need all of equipment ?
@@dukeofcontention because you don't need the $250 Sync Box
