      there was supposed to be a book 4, mostly about finding Zuko's mother. then M. night Shamallhamadingdong had to be stupid and make his abomination of a live action adaptation, where 8 earth benders do interpretive dance, so that one small rock lazily floats through the air, and ruined all potential plans for book four: Air.

      @spcwild Gyatso did it under such circumstances, like Zaheer and Yangchen did that technique too, Yangchen told Aang to sacrifice their morals and kill Ozai, I think it was right decision to spare Ozai, this theory proves that Gyatso killed those firebenders, because there was genocide and he had no choice or maybe he thinks the same way as Yangchen

    I love how Sokka was defending and guiding Toph during the battle. Always taking into consideration her blindness (with both her eyes and her feet). Constantly pulling her to where they needed to go, and shielding her from what she couldn't see.
    He did the same thing in the previous Book when they were on a boat, and the guy swung the ore over their heads, Sokka ducked Toph's head to dodge the ore.
    Also, the tears Toph makes when she believes she's about to die gets me every time 😭

    This show is a masterpiece. I've been re-watching it every few years since it came out because you ALWAYS learn more from it depending on what stage in your life you're in. I am so glad I got to watch it when I was a kid, because that feeling you get when you understand a new theme in the show on re-watch is SO much more profound when you remember how you felt when you watched it as a kid when life was just simpler. It really is. This show arguably even helped raise me and Iroh's words of wisdom would ALWAYS push me out of tight spots in life; I would NEVER lose hope in life because of his words.

    I love the way they handled the zuko/azula fight. The could have done an epic villain/heroic score, cause it was a great fight, instead they chose a sad lament for the orchestrial song. This really was a fight between siblings pitted against each other by their awful father, and the song reflects that. In the end, Azula is still just 14 years old, and this is a tragedy.

      It's a bittersweet fact of a war that goes on for so long that it's up to the kids to stop it. As three kids, they stopped an entire air fleet of hundreds of firebender warriors at the height of their power. But it is the irrationality of the war that pushed the eventual need for three kids to become awesome heroes.

      @@martinkoehler3631 Well, it seemed like one of a few possibilities.
      1. It's a nick show, meant for kids, but also serious enough for adults to appreciate, so it was a bit of humor to counterbalance the pathos. So it was probably just a kid-like humor moment, topped off with a 'Happy birthday' at the end of it.
      2. Maybe they looked at the rest of the fleet and were like '... Even one ship short, they're still, surely going to get the job done, no problem.' And at the moment they were all juiced up by the Comet, so what do they have to fear? No creature in the sea could threaten them, that they know of. All they need to do really is get to land to survive, which honestly seems pretty easy considering that firebending, as we've seen, has an effect to use to accelerate a firebender forward.
      3. Yeah, agree'd, they probably just didn't see eye to eye with the plan and wanted to be stopped, as unlikely as it was. Remember in books that there were fire nation colonies and people that moved from the nation to the colonies to live alongside the earth kingdom folk that were absorbed into these colonies were living peacefully alongside eachother, and neither didn't want to give up that sense of community and peace they'd established.

    Azula is a very complexing character in some ways even more than Zuko. Despite being a monster, more than that shes a victim and tragedy.
    Because Azula was such a prodigy she was favored by her father who indulged in her bad habits and molded her in his image which made it hard for her mother and Zuko to relate to her. While shes undeniably a bad person who has done terrible things, its important to realize that she didnt recieve the same level as compassion as Zuko did from his mother and uncle iroh. Thats not to justify her actions but to highlight that at the end of the day she's just a child who was a product of her environment. Maybe if things were different she couldve been better

    • @9529jake
      @9529jake 7 месяцев назад

      Calling her a product of her enviroment is plain ignorance and you skip over the other side of it which is nature. The reason she was looked at and treated differently was not just because but it had to do with her persona being likened to that of her father. Iroh and ozai both had same parents and yet one was a homocidal villain and the other had a good nature. Same is for azula and zuko that both had the same parents and azula happen to be more like her father and that made him respect her more than zuko which took more after his mother and grandfather. To basically assume that azula's mother treated a good natured azula and made her bad through neglect is just plain ignorance of the debate about nature vs nurture. Some people no matter their nature grow up to be caring people with morals and same can be said about the opposite. Some people have great upbringing and yet turn into monster while my family survived war, famine and despair growing up in one of the poorest countries in the world and despite that we have never bothered anyone. Even azula knew what she was from the start when she stated that her own mother looked at her like a monster that she was. Her mother attitude towards her came after and not before her nature which is a big difference. It's different treat someone as a creep for no reason for example and to see them be creepy and act accordingly to protect yourself and others. Also at some point we must take responsibility for our own actions or else we would be wrong to give fault to anyone based on your own logic. We could just say ozai acted the way he did cause of his father and so fourth so he is also a victim of his upbringing and is not to blame for killing countless innocent people. If anything zuko had a worse upbringing then azula by a long mile. He was not only traumatized by loosing his mother, but also burned by his father and banished from his land as a child. Azula was respected by the remaining parent and lived like a rich spoiled brat her whole life. The things that happen to zuko was not his fault but every bad thing that happen to azula was her fault. Her friend betrayal was cause of her evil nature and so fourth. If anything you are going against your own logic. Of someones nature is bad it does not matter what their nurture is cause they will always be bad, however someone that is good natured can still be a good person with bad nurture and we see that happen everyday in war ridden countries.

    • @jojogarlin8369
      @jojogarlin8369 7 месяцев назад +4

      @@9529jake Everything you said was pretty ignorant and pretty much abstains everyone in involved of any agency. Iroh was a war criminal with a notorious history in the world which implies he’s killed plenty of innocent people or at least resulted in the death of them. He callously made a joke about Burning Ba Sing Se to the ground. The only reason Iroh became a better person was because of the list of his son.
      The creators themselves pretty much stated that Azula is a product of her environment and could’ve been better through different circumstances.
      Zuko was constantly shown compassion and care with his mother and uncle and heck even his enemies that Azula never shown to received her entire life. Zuko mishaves and bullies a bunch of baby ducks Ursa lectures but comforts him the same. Azula shows crass behavior Ursa dismisses and says “What is wrong with that child?”. Zuko gets a gift from his Uncle that holds meaning and teaches a valuable lesson, Azula gets a raggedy stuff doll and that pretty much sums up Iroh’s connection with her or lack there of. Whatever Hardships Zuko had to endure he had people showing compassion that was never shown for Azula. Blaming it on just nature is just cheap and meaningless.

    I’m glad you drew the same conclusion. Aang turning his back on Ozai was proof of his convictions as well as to prove he could bend another’s energy. If Aang truly believed he had no right to take another life he had to be willing to risk his own especially to someone as vile and evil as Ozai. By stating true to his conviction Aang proved his spirit was unbendable if he faltered if he had even then sense of ‘maybe I need to kill Ozai’ and he tried to bend Ozai’s energy it would have killed him. In the end Zuko becomes Fire Lord and he and Aang establish the alliance that Sozin and Roku should have been. As for the ending notice Katara leans into Aang to kiss him which ties back to what she said before that love was not something she could think of as long as the world was at war the war is over so she can finally be happy.

    There's a lot of undeserved hate towards korra. It was originally meant to be a single season as an add on for the avatar series, but it got so popular that Nickelodeon greenlit a season 2, but said that was it. Then they reversed that decision and greenlit a season 3, then did the same with season 4. Korra doesn't flow like The Last Airbender did because it wasn't planned out, and Nick kinda screwed the show over with how they handled it.

      It isnt that. There's a clear difference between the kids shows of today and this, which is why it comes off as a negative term to some people. People don't like this show sharing the same term that someone would use for some garbage like Cocomelon, and I can understand that to an extent.

    This was such a 10/10 finale! Everyone played their part in it so well, Aang being able to finish things the way he wanted to, and just everything about the epilogue. I'm so glad I saw this show as a kid and seeing it again when older really makes you look at things differently, having more understanding of things. Beautiful show

    "i can't believe the captain actually remembered my birthday! he really does care!"
    *DROP* is my favourite joke in the entire show. and the animation for the finale is just gorgeous. and the show holds up really damn well on re-rewatches. i wasn't the biggest fan of Korra myself but i hope you enjoy it.
    leaving off with a reccommendation for Samurai Jack, Steven Universe and The Owl House.

    There are a series of comics that extend to the next few years and go into the next steps for the characters. Including a story about Zuko's mom. I believe they were done by Dark Horse.
    Very good reads. I suggest you take a look at them. I am sure you can read them online somewhere or just pick them up. Worth the money in my opinion.

    One thing I love about the final agni kai is that zuko incorporated all of the different bending styles into his fight, he stood his ground like an earth bender the way iroh taught, he replicated a couple of aangs air moves except with fire, and he was going to use the lightning redirection which was derived from water bending

    • @caboose4973
      @caboose4973 7 месяцев назад +1

      Also, if you rewatch the scene zuko actually managed to redirect some of the lightning into the sky, just not all of it. If he wasnt able to do that he probably wouldve died right there

    What you’re feeling is totally normal. It’s a show that grows on you over time especially into the second season. And it’s definitely a show that causes a lot of post show depression when it’s over lol but there’s good news! It’s an actual total vibe when rewatching it! Because now you know the story and you can just enjoy it without trying to figure things out. Plus you get to see the little things you maybe missed last time. The creators loved to refer things between all the seasons. Especially the Lion Turtle ;)

    The song playing when Azula and Zuko are fighting is called The Last Agni Kai, which is fitting. It's definitely a more sombre version of the normal Agni Kai soundtrack. Fitting, since if you think about it, this fight is quite tragic. Azula is a tragic villain at the end of the day. Ozai made her into the person she was and prevented her mum from doing any good like she did for Zuko.

    A lot of stories are continued or expanded upon, including what happened to Zuko's mother and Azula's expanding fate, in the comic series. I really recommend you check them out. There are a bunch of different series, but the main line you want to get is The Promise, The Search, The Rift, Smoke and Shadow, North and South, and Imbalance. They also lay the groundwork for a lot of what you see in Korra.

    When I recommend this show to anyone I explain that they need to get through the first half of season 1 since it was originally made for kids being on Nickelodeon but the creators must have realized that the only proper way to tell this story was to not make it so kiddie friendly. About midway through season 1 is when this show becomes incredible.

    Man this episode is the reason i love azula, i feel for her, shes only 14 and going through all this war being raised as a literal war machine and favored by her father. She thought her own mother seen her as a monster, all she wanted was her moms love like zuko wanted his fathers until he realized he didnt need it, but azula does need her moms love. If you read the comics in one called the search you get to see what happened to their mom. And if its a spoiler to say this then COMIC SPOILERS INCOMING:
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    She tells azula "if i really am your mother, im sorry i didnt love you enough" azula starts crying and runs away. Its hard to hear that when all she thought she was seen as a monster. Her mom did love her, they just couldnt connect properly because of ozai.

    One thing about "kids shows" is they're made by grown ups. Even something like spongebob has a few adult gems and jokes that I didn't catch onto until I was older. Ed, Edd, n Eddy's ending, PPG, hey! arnold, rugrats (I love chuckie), and the list goes on. You'd be surprised, not all shows, but still...

    Some fun facts: Ozai before the fight starts, he shoots jets of fire out of his mouth and hands, this was shown in Season 1 when Roku talks about Ozai using the comment to end the war, and same with how the door opens, only a fully realised avatar can open the door alone with 5 fire blasts, which is only possible because of airbending, Aang is able to launch fire from his hands, feet and mouth and not be sent flying because of it.

    This is what happens to people such as Azula and Ozzai who value power and being feared rather than love and respect, they end up all alone. To quote a few words from a Star Wars novel “You were thinking about yourself…and now yourself is all you will ever have”, that about sums it for both antagonists. Now Ozzai has no power anymore, Zuko’s mother Ursa in the comics would tell him “Now I see you Ozzai, you’re just a small man trying desperately to be big”, Aang took away his bending, Ursa took away his pride.

    Having said that, ATLK (Korra) is an 08/10 still very good and a worthy successor, but you'll find multiple changes, specially on the new Avatar Team and the central character, because this is not a person becoming an Avatar..., instead its about the Avatar maturing into a person, hope you enjoy and looking forward to see Ur journey with ATLK

    No, Aang actually didn't really master all elements. He mastered Air (obviously) and, at least according to Katara, Water, but Earth was more like 85%ish and Fire maybe 70%ish. He was only able to perform the 5-fireblast-attack of a fully realized Avatar in the Avatar State, basically infused with the power of all previous Avatars.
    To be fair, on a normal day this would have still been enough to beat any single-element-master in a 1v1.
