Hot take: Suffering Leaves Suffering Leaves and Dance Macabre are top 2 ULTRAKILL tracks. Not gonna explain myself, but these tracks are actually the most beautiful pieces of music humanity ever created
Yes I know, that’s the joke I don’t know why I have this obsession with referring to guitarists and/or synth players as someone different than the main composer when I KNOW they’re the same person, but it’s more of a figure of speech, per se
Oh my Gabriel, I love ultrakill music!!! I've only heard a handful of songs outside ultrakill where I have an emotional reaction, and I honestly don't know how hakita does it! They're just so emotional! It's funny really, I show my friends and family the songs and their reactions (especially my dad who is a music nerd) are always something along the lines of, "It doesn't sound like any song I've heard of" or, "It sounds like this guy doesn't know how to make music." It really gets on my nerves but I understand that context is a big thing. Without playing ultrakill, I definitely would not have the same tearful reaction to The World Looks Red every time I listen to it (yes, I unironically cry when I listen to that song along with a few others), And I guess that really shows how much work hakita went into molding the game and the music together into one crazy idea. oops, I'm rambling again Great to see another video dude! Keep it up!
@@DJCerealSauce6455ik im three fkn months late ik you might have looked up the answer already but better late then never type o negative is a gothic metal band. 6 months late, BUT I really like Bull of Hell both in and out of the game. There’s so much going on. It’s blind rage personified. I think the only other song in-game that matches (or comes close) to its non-stop movement is Panic Betrayer.
If there's one thing The Fire Is Gone does beautifully, its that it describes the true situation of ULTRAKILL's story, without involving thr bias of V1's action-packed, super hectic POV through Hell.
Bull of Hell is one of those songs that started as one of my least favorites in the whole track, then I listened to it some more and it really quickly grew on me. I'm a big fan of it. Also hell yeah fellow "Do Robots Dream of Eternal Sleep" enjoyer!
Ultrakill song opinions will always be changing and who knows, maybe I will also like Bull of Hell in a few months time Also, howdy! Happy to see an enjoyer of existentialism
Glad to hear you enjoyed it, I don’t know if I have a particular thought process when it comes to music i like or not, but chaos and pandemonium are both lowkey masterpieces lol
ough i love ultrakill music...... i just started listening to Order properly and it makes me want to stare at a wall and cry. i find it really cool that even without any experience in music (beyond high school band, if that even counts) i can feel the absolute *desperation* coming through a lot of these tracks. IT'S SO GOOD AUGH !!! i think "desperate triumph" is the phrase i would use to describe a lot of them. i have nothing intelligent to say about the soundtrack it's just really f/cking amazing.
By the way, Cold Winds uses the same sample as Spinal Staircase, except it’s just slowed (you probably already know, as you were going to pull them up side by side). Thanks for making awesome content! :D
Yep. If, you listen close, you can hear the second note right before the synth wave kicks in. The same sample is also used for the theme of Minos’ Corpse, “ In the Presence of a King”, but it’s super slowed down.
Also, Glory does have the Requiem leitmotif; it kicks in at around 40 seconds into the song, but it sounds wobbly(?) compared to the actual leitmotif. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on Fraud when it releases! :D
Don’t credit me for all of this though. I’m just the messenger, as the channel UltraKeel (@KyleKoala) covered Act 1’s leitmotifs. It’s a bit outdated, but still worth watching.
I absolutely love Suffering Leaves Suffering Leaves, when it gets to the slowing down of "gear" section it makes me feel like i'm running out of steam, regardless of any desires, petitions, or objections. Death comes for us all and it is here especially.
I love the Panic Betrayer motif popping up in Death Odyssey, it's such a random connection but it fits so well. Using the same bassline for such different compositions is really fun.
yeah the only connection is that both songs play in the third level of the second layer of an act. maybe 8-3 will have a death odyssey motif to continue the trend
I believe that P-2 outshines P-1 in every way possible (other than the introduced prime soul), especially music-wise, with war being a much, much more powerful track than order could be (though it fits the given characters very well).
Tbh "A Complete And Utter Destruction Of The Senses" is a pretty effective alarm for getting up in the morning.(talking from Experience and still using it) Since a Alarm in the Morning is suppose to get you UP not give you the option of getting up like putting on your favorite Music.
Bro I GOT YOU, I am the man who makes people cry (not really, but an emotional response proves that either I did something write, or Hakita did something write, maybe both of us, who really knows lol)
something that massively caught me off guard when listening to the full OST is that the music box rendition of The Fire is Gone has an echo on the second loop almost makes me imagine Ultrakill’s God in an empty room, curled up into a ball, drowning in sorrow and regret
1:22:02 whats better is that you didnt even listen to the best part of Altars of Apostasy specifically called "Halls of Sacrilegious Remains" which is a callback to 1-3's Halls of Sacred Remains and the Hideous Mass
I feel like such a goddamn scam for not listening to that part honestly 😓, when I reviewed Halls of Sacrilegious Remains in the first video I have it like 25 seconds and people were NOT happy about that
Altars of apostasy at the start makes me I’m in a constant struggle and fighting without hope of escaping, then the first that part plays and it’s like seeing the light at the end of a dark unforgivable tunnel, then it continues giving a new sense of hope and determination. Then the part plays again it’s enlightenment knowing that I’m an unstoppable force and finally the final part shows how far I went to get here and how far I got to go. And that’s why it’s my favorite song and the only one to make me stop playing the game and listen to it on SoundCloud. Amen!
Really the issue I find with A Complete and Utter Destruction of the Senses is that its a song that feels like its going at 5 million miles per hour, but the level only kicks it into gear right in the last room of the level and its so small and cramped. It should play during a chase or escape from something that will instakill you.
Woah, I actually agree with way more than I assume I would! Personally woulda put a few higher/lower (requiem and deep blue would be higher/death of god's will would be a little bit lower) but for the most part this is very similar to what mine'd look like!!
war without reason kinda reminds me of bohemian rhapsody / paranoid android, but instead of having 3 parts mixed with a beautiful melody and a lil bit of choir hakita is like “fuck if we ball” and adds 6 parts, in addition to an alarm cuz it’s hakita. (awesome vid btw, peep that deep blue saxophone)
@@DJCerealSauce6455 ... The Music box is nice. I can hear it behind the gate made from mechanical parts. A hatred burns for the Automatons that fall down here, for rage is the only thing that consumes me. I have not been let back into hell for this reason.
I genuinely really like A Complete And Utter Destruction Of The Senses, idk why but it just goes so hard, it's just so VISCERAL. Especially that one part with the like, really driving bass? Just like the stage, it's fire.
my spotify playlist is filled with ultrakill music, but its also filled with songs from the heathers musical and phighting (the roblox game). The whiplash goes crazy with those alone, but it gets even worse when you find out I also have the opening to Smile PreCure in there somewhere, and some of the goofiest music imaginable
Tenebre Rosso Sangue is my favorite song in the game so far (and probably top 1 or 2 in all of gaming) and that does feel kinda bad cuz it's a guest composer but I don't think Hakita is far behind tbf. The whole OST is amazing, especially the later songs.
"'You walk into MY kingdom, kill all MY people, call ME gay? I'm gonna kill you!' and then he does!" Is the best summary of Minos Prime I've ever heard.
I am the only content creator who understands War Without Reason like that (this is a joke plz don’t start exposing me to the other music content creators)
ULTRAKILL has a really really big fanmade music and mod community. A listen to fanmade works would be cool too! Imo some of them even surpass the original game's music. I recommend PROJECT PURGATORIO, HIGHER THAN THE BLACK SKY, and FRAUDULENCE's tracks.
I was watching the premiere of the fraudulence damage OST and was blown away with how incredible it was, that said, I expect nothing less from the goat himself
@@DJCerealSauce6455 yeah marzuku's shit is awesome another fanmade fraud ost was made by duv and goose, its a bit longer and can be found on the former's channel as a playlist
I know a great fuck all about music and music theory, but damn I love this shit. War > Order, fight me. Violence tracks are PEAK, can't wait to see what comes next
Sisyphus prime wants his main fight to be against heaven. But before that, he just goes “before I do that though, imma just warm up with this thing. I’ll kill it so why not. I’m bored.”
ive looked for clair de lune on spotify and tbh... none of the arrangements/performances on there felt as good as the one in ultrakill on my opinion. the ultrakill one has this feeling where they really take their time and dont really play the piece out and it gives the song such a calm vibe it almost feels *forcefully* calm. but like, in a way thats not forceful theres just so little energy in it. and i really really like that.
@@DJCerealSauce6455 ah ok makes sense. Some of the voice lines were on point with where I put them in my vid, so that could be the case. Thanks though :)
The thing about Requiem and some other songs like Chaos is that Hakita does a lot of weird time signature stuff on purpose. When Chaos was new he himself joked about "what the fuck is a time signature."
Time signatures are an illusion used to trap the working class, and I unfortunately fell for his trap, as I was incredibly unaware of complex time signatures until about this moment lmao
hakita said himself said that the song a cloomplete and utter destruction of the senses sucks but he gets away with making it in the context of the level
Yeah it’s pretty epic how he managed to make overstimulation into music honestly, the embodiment of being uncomfortable because there’s too much going on
slightly disappointed you didn't mention the beat that comes in halfway through The Abyss and the Serpent, the slowed down punchy breakbeat alone makes it one of my favorite songs of the entire ost
the credits song was a ⦓🍊⦔ タンジェリン remix done by hakita on the album "Music for Virtual Malls" the genre is Slushwave, and the scene is very creative with what they make there's also another album going by "Music for Virtual Museums", which similarly, also has a Desert sand feels warm at night remix i urge you all to pitch in on their Bandcamp or where ever you choose to support heaven pierce her!! Edit: i mixed them up, the DSFWAN track is the song in the game, the other one is unrelated until hakita makes a MALL level (hope so)
If you were to rank THE layer with the best music which one y'all choosing? . Ik mine is violence by A FAR MILE There's nothing like it All of the songs are imo the best of hakitas work the best elements and composition all wrapped up with a red ribbon with a nice bow on the top like a goddamn present box One of the most harsh and emotional sounding layers in game hence its name violence
@@DJCerealSauce6455actually a good opinion Greed ost gets you pumped up it's harshness (distorted guitar which represents the sun absolutely beating down on you) all of the intresting instruments used like the fretless bass in dune eternal like the grinding sitar sounding instrument in the beginning of duel love the phrygian dominant scale which represents the theme of the layer Probs one of the most badass and banger of osts are in greed and all and all you have the perfect combo Like come on! If P-2 is included in layer 6 (since it is found in 6-2 and takes place in Heresy), then Heresy. I know it's short but 6-1, 6-2 and P-2 contain some of the absolute best music in ultrakill
I think it’s interesting too, and I’m sure it’s intentional, but I throws me off whenever I’m listening to it and I genuinely have to wonder what the thought process behind that decision was. I don’t think it like ruins the song or anything, but I’d be curious to delve into the mind of Hakita when he did that
I listen to "A Complete and Utter Destruction of the Senses" almost every day, but I turned off the cybergrind mission on wave 24 to remove HATEFUL from the playlist. It was incredibly painful for me to listen to it...
Top 5 of my favorite ultrakill songs be like: 5 versus (second part) 4 danse macabre (full song) 3 castle vein (full song) 2 war without reason ( final part) 1 altars of apostasy ( CASTLE VEIN PART SO FIRE YEEEE🗣🗣🗣🤟🤟)
I understand, and to be honest I don’t even know if I used the word right in that context, I have too large of a vocabulary and so I will often use words while only slightly understanding what they mean, I’m working on it tho

Oh my Gabriel, I love ultrakill music!!! I've only heard a handful of songs outside ultrakill where I have an emotional reaction, and I honestly don't know how hakita does it! They're just so emotional!
It's funny really, I show my friends and family the songs and their reactions (especially my dad who is a music nerd) are always something along the lines of, "It doesn't sound like any song I've heard of" or, "It sounds like this guy doesn't know how to make music." It really gets on my nerves
but I understand that context is a big thing.
Without playing ultrakill, I definitely would not have the same tearful reaction to The World Looks Red every time I listen to it (yes, I unironically cry when I listen to that song along with a few others), And I guess that really shows how much work hakita went into molding the game and the music together into one crazy idea.

If there's one thing The Fire Is Gone does beautifully, its that it describes the true situation of ULTRAKILL's story, without involving thr bias of V1's action-packed, super hectic POV through Hell.

ough i love ultrakill music...... i just started listening to Order properly and it makes me want to stare at a wall and cry. i find it really cool that even without any experience in music (beyond high school band, if that even counts) i can feel the absolute *desperation* coming through a lot of these tracks. IT'S SO GOOD AUGH !!!
i think "desperate triumph" is the phrase i would use to describe a lot of them. i have nothing intelligent to say about the soundtrack it's just really f/cking amazing.
no thoughts, head empty, just enjoying Ultrakill music :))
By the way, Cold Winds uses the same sample as Spinal Staircase, except it’s just slowed (you probably already know, as you were going to pull them up side by side). Thanks for making awesome content! :D
Oh wait they do? Do you mean that windy sounding thing at the beginning of cold winds?

I love the Panic Betrayer motif popping up in Death Odyssey, it's such a random connection but it fits so well. Using the same bassline for such different compositions is really fun.
Motifs are everywhere and I’m getting lost in the sauce
yeah the only connection is that both songs play in the third level of the second layer of an act. maybe 8-3 will have a death odyssey motif to continue the trend
Altars of Apostasy my beloved (part 2: electric boogaloo)
I believe that P-2 outshines P-1 in every way possible (other than the introduced prime soul), especially music-wise, with war being a much, much more powerful track than order could be (though it fits the given characters very well).
This is the BEST tier list Ive ever seen, War without Reason, War, Order, The death of a gods will, Ect, Your opinion is top tier

something that massively caught me off guard when listening to the full OST is that the music box rendition of The Fire is Gone has an echo on the second loop
almost makes me imagine Ultrakill’s God in an empty room, curled up into a ball, drowning in sorrow and regret
That is probably what he is doing canonically
Amen!
Altars of Apostasy got me crashing on the freeway, because of everything you just said, it truly is a masterpiece
Really the issue I find with A Complete and Utter Destruction of the Senses is that its a song that feels like its going at 5 million miles per hour, but the level only kicks it into gear right in the last room of the level and its so small and cramped. It should play during a chase or escape from something that will instakill you.
Do not put this song in 0-S for the love of God
Woah, I actually agree with way more than I assume I would! Personally woulda put a few higher/lower (requiem and deep blue would be higher/death of god's will would be a little bit lower) but for the most part this is very similar to what mine'd look like!!
