    Building my theatre room now. Took down a wall in between two small bedrooms for a great space. I hate the look of speakers and equipment out in the open though. Putting all the equipment in the closet, and getting in-wall Klipsch speakers. 7.1 system. Only thing I want sticking out is the projector obviously. Going with a JVC NX5. Looked amazing in person. Just a 128inch screen though. 16x9. Got it all from StarPower for almost half this room (installation, construction, light up theatre seating, etc).

    SVS speakers and subs are totally worth the money. Piano black has a classy look. I would have liked to see this gorgeous setup in a dedicated theatre room as opposed to a living room. Dark gray walls, black ceiling and professional acoustic panels as opposed to less costly FOAM accompanies the speaker quality better.

    • @ThatHomeTheaterDude
      @ThatHomeTheaterDude  4 года назад

      ALR screen. thats why. The rule of painting your room black really only applies to white or gray screens that are not alr. they bounce light back into the room. Black diamond alr has layers of optics that really only bounce the image back from the position of the pj and not onto the walls or ceiling

    • @todddirando1575
      @todddirando1575 4 года назад +1

      @@ThatHomeTheaterDude Thanks for the response. I guess i worded my comment wrong. I wasnt just refering to the reflection from the screen, i meant overall. I have a dedicated home theater room myself and i drywalled over the 2 windows that were there. I have an ALR screen as well but i still went with flat black ceilings and trim and dark maroon walls and dark carpet. All my main and surround speakers are flushed in the wall at ear level, then i have 2 front height speakers flushed in the wall on both sides of the screen and a total of 12 dolby atmos speakers at a 55 degree angle above the 4 black recliners and the 3person black recliner/couch that is on a raised platform. The dark colors just give a much more immersive experience with the dolby atmos than light colors. Just my opinion though

      Nothing but respect for anyone out there passionate and optimizing their setup. BUT, I do find it so perverse when I continually see 10's of thousands of dollars invested on setup in an open room floorplan with windows, hard wood floor, etc etc. $100 spent on foam panels. Couldn't agree more, spend 10k on a room and 20k on a setup. Imagine the poor bastards that have to turn their head 90° while sitting on those couches.

    Hey man Sincere question I have same setup just replace Ultra Towers with Ultra Bookshelfs. ultra surrounds as sides and ultra center, dual SB-4000s all black gloss and 4 white gloss prime elevations. Basically in my space a perfect 7.2.4 though i did weant the towers badly im afaird they would dominate the room and I like the compact but still ULTRA setup. Do you think it would be worth adding 3rd pair of height speakers, currently top front/top rear would i be better off adding top middle it would be exactly the height speration you have, or go front/rear height and top middle? Also how much do the front wides add? My thoughts either while gloss prime sats wall mounted for front wides matching heights since there all basically atmos effects speakers, or go big add ultra towers as mains move ultra bookshelfs to front wides add SB16Ultra?

    • @ThatHomeTheaterDude

      i really liked adding the 3rd set of heights. 16 channels is becoming more and more popular. Audio control, trinnov, emotiva, have all adopted it. With dtsx:pro coming out more than the 11 channel "standard" is being beefed up. use youre towers as mains and your ultra books as wides

    Very nice indeed - Not a huge fan of the speakers but that comes down to personal taste. Can I ask, are you running these all in full range (apart from the atmos speakers of course)? Also do you really find the front wides add a great deal to a setup like this with the fronts you have already? Final question - what room correction software have you used (guessing Dirac?) - and any thoughts on a Trinnov system to really improve the sound placement in the room?

    At this point, do you truly notice the difference from adding this many speakers? Do you notice the difference between the 9 main speakers you have as opposed to if you only had 7? Do you notice a major difference between the 6 ceiling speakers as opposed to if you only had 4? I’m no cinemaphile so I wouldn’t know. (No hate, genuinely curious) Thats a fantastic looking system.

    • @rosstee
      @rosstee 4 года назад +1

      I expect that room wasn’t really big enough to get the benefit of so many speakers. 7.2.4 probably would have sounded very similar. But if he’s moving to a larger place it may be better suited. Remember the quality of speakers and electronics is more important than number of speakers, so even 5.1 can sound fantastic with great equipment.

    • @jonny4509torres

      Yes Jonathan. There is a clear difference in adding the 4 more speakers. Every effect is more realistic now. Surround isnt just behind you. it moves in a 3d space rather than just left and right and up and down. its really cool.

    I'm not understanding how that screen is 144"? Just napkin mathing you've got about 110" width judging by the subs (22" x 5)? I'm calculating about 125" diagonal at 2.35:1 aspect ratio? The black does look good, considering it myself but it looks a lot smaller than my current 134" of projection I'm running now.
