today I am going to direct you to one of my favourite children's stories - Oliver Postgate and Peter Firmin and Noggin The Nog
I used to read these to the kids, John especially loved Noggin. It is lovely - weird and silly, but so completely of it's time!

I was listening to a program broadcasting here in the USA over PBS when the gent said,, "behind me here is a part of Haydrians Wall in Northumberland, UK.. These stones right here are the petroglyphic stones placed here at least 3,400 years ago.... I jumped up and shouted " oh those are the Druid stones, Kate took us there. He talked on showing the same view you showed us. ,found myself yelking at him so he could hear me...lol " tell the folks that in the distance behind you is Scotland...Hahaha! 😉 Guess I have been alone on top of my little hill way to long! 😊 I get a tingle when I see that view of Haydrians Wall, the stones and Scottland. Thank you again Kate for taking us on such lovely walks. 😉 I Hope my long story gave someone on the sofa something to smile about. Please be kind and respectful to eachother, especially now as we all figure out what to do about this prodigious virus running rampent in our world. Tell others about our virus free lime green sofa, where comfy pink cushions, beautiful and brilliantly colored patchwork covered footstooles, await. As long as they don't mind some virtual cats, the occassional silly grey goose, chickens, bees, the odd duck and all types of neighbors dropping in to visit. Thank you, dear Kate and your Family for this beautiful gift. Who knew how much we'd need it! 💞

I believe she was talking about a wedding she had attended at the WALL last summer and it was in a video after that I believe. Hope that helps I will look too and check through my history on you tube.

Kate’s Lime Green Sofa -- As I’ve watched recent videos, when Kate waves her arm to indicate the Lime Green Sofa (LGS), I’ve imagined it sliding out in a long green line. We all sit down, respectfully but cordially. We pass cushions, line up our footstools, and relax into amiable silence when Kate speaks. After she’s done, we all begin to chat and share our treats.
But lately, I’ve been envisioning the LGS as having many corners and angles and twists and turns. It zigs and zags, rising up hills and dipping down dales. By necessity, it has expanded and expanded to fit the 18k+ fellow sitters. It stretches all the way around the world but must be flexible to cover the Earth. We are all here together by chance, by choice. We seek comfort, solace, laughs, ideas, a gentle word.
I’m grateful for the LGS, for Kate, and for a life that now demands that we slow down and appreciate what we have, what we can share, what we can do, who and what we can love. Karen xx
Salish Sea Quest - your mind’s image of the sofa is very similar to how I envision it to be. It’s so nice for us all to be able to chit chat as friends even though we may have a few or a lot of miles between us.
There’s a different tone and nuance when you’re on the sofa compare to chatting with family or friends on the phone. Kate’s gentle monologues are soothing and kind of reassuring in their own way.

@@elizabethprior4968 You are absolutely correct about our tones and natures whilst on the sofa. Kate gives us the tone. We are kind to one another, supportive of one another. So important that we all feel "heard". We're all treading new ground here and need to know that we are safe to express that on the LGS. I will be adding the "keep your distance" to my closings now when I communicate with the 'outsiders' as I have been using the
'stay safe, stay well' for a while. Thanks for your affirmation.

When my mindset turns to anger or anxiety and I just want to rant about the virus and how it's affecting my state, I'm so thankful for a video from Our Dear Kate and all of the comments. Thank you all for giving me peace of mind.
Does anyone else find that it is much easier to be motivated to do things, even trivial housework, when one gets dressed rather than wearing pajamas or lounge clothes, or is it just me?

@@inge6280 I think it actually keeps me in a better mindset, too. Maybe it's a combination of being dressed and actually productive vs. being in my "lazy wear" haha. Either way, it's nice to know that it's not just me who notices a difference.

Amy Adkins I like having a routine, it keeps me sane. I’m a early riser 6:00 for sure, dressed, bed maded, vacuum, walk starts around 9:00, home then breakfast.very routine 🤪
Better get that pavillion sorted. We may want to move from the lime sofa to the outside chairs and stoops. carry on and stay calm.

We could have a garden party ,loads to do ,food planning ,bunting how to keep the hens away from the cakes.Imagine if we all came along with plants for Kate's garden ,what a riot of colour & perfumes.Kate's bee's would be kept very busy . Mmmm this is going to take some serious planning and im pretty sure we are going to need a larger tea pot .

I have been in bed for almost 3 weeks with pneumonia...but Hallelujah I tested negative for the coronavirus. Hallelujah! I am so happy Miss Rita is beginning to gain strength...she is such a beautiful cat.

Can't believe i'm the first on the lime green sofa this afternoon, come on gang your spot is waiting with tea, scones and wonderful fellowship. Thank you Kate for reminding us to keep a regular schedule and not get in a rut. During times like this it is very easy to let things slip into unhealthy habits. As all ways love seeing the cats, and the scenes outside in the pavilion, love it when you are outside.

I'm afraid I've messed up and crossed into unhealthy territory but I did it because I'm old and in a snit because I got hurt and can't get over it. I told my son that there was no way I could live long enough to get completely over a broken neck and brain damage. I just don't think I live all that much over a hundred if I can even reach that. Nasty old thing made it hard to hold a book to read.
I have been here just re-watching the wall we took with Kate to Haydrians Wall. How are you?

We have our two little granddaughters staying with us now school is closed, ages 4 and 7. I know not ideal, but both parents key workers! Thankfully weather been lovely so they’ve been busy in the garden and playing in the Wendy house 😃 by mid afternoon though this idea was on the wane so I had to come up with other ideas.
SO, Iscattered about 100 different coloured and pretty scraps of fabric on the living room carpet and they took it in turns to choose one till they both had a pile of there own.
Tomorrow then we have to make a start on grandma stitching them together whilst they choose which colours they want to go together.😃😃 what excitement it caused, they LOVED it 😁 That’s what I’ll be doing tomorrow then, with Herculean patience, of course. 😂😂

I'm thinking that you are making memories for a lifetime for these little ones. I can hear them, "Do you remember when Grandma scattered all those pretty fabrics and we got to choose the ones she would sew together? How pretty it turned out!" Blessings!

Hello Carol - greetings from Pennsylvania - and greetings to everyone else on the sofa today! I have a sewing date with one of my granddaughters as well. She’s been begging me for ages to teach her. She’s just 6 ½ but already a prolific crafter. Hugs to you for being able to watch over your girls while their parents work. I have rescued another puppy. He will keep me busy and focused for the next several weeks. I keep making bread and sharing with the neighbors that helps keep me sane. I so enjoy your daily posts. Keep well and know you are a blessing
I live in the US and on my list is to stop watching the news. Just a bit of news in the morning (local online newspaper) and again at night. More than that feels obsessive and makes me want to rant. I really enjoy your videos and am glad you are posting a little something so regularly. I'm a quilter and like to bake, so I have my creative pursuits that keep me going, too.
Mine too. I'm on a news diet - I can check in on CBC (I'm in Canada) and The Guardian twice a day, morning and after dinner. And I told my fella not to tell me stuff. It's too much!
Once again thank you for bringing everyone together on the lime green sofa. I used to think I could easily be a hermit. This has taught me I would not. OMG! You have forsythia in bloom already! I love it! I awoke to 1-2 inches of snow on the ground and hanging from the trees. I must say it actually was beautiful! Today is day 13 of self-quarantine for me. My children highly suggested that I stay in (due to being at a high risk) after two case of COVID-19 were confirmed in Michigan. It's not that bad, really, as I normally only went out and about once or twice a week most of the time. I facetime family and friends, chat on the phone, and make videos of me reading children's books for my three year old grandson. I then upload them on YT and make them unlisted so only he can see them when I send the link. I'm rediscovering cooking and baking, as well as organizing and cleaning. I have a stack of books for when I get bored with all of that. Our governor has declared a three week shelter in place, so everyone must stay in. My son's been working from home for a week already and we are chatting so much more. I found a video for making face masks, so I am going to try and order some material and elastic so I can make some. Trying to stay positive. Have a great day, Kate, and stay healthy!

I cleaned my bathroom cabinets and today...tossed anything that was about empty or things I don't use...felt pretty good hauling the garbage bag out to the dumpster! I had planned to start on my craft room BUT got sidetracked...I adopted an orphan parakeet that is pretty wild right now. I keep her cage in the room that was my daughter's when she was young because I sew and watch TV in there when my husband is watching the weird things he likes! I keep some clothes in the closet, too. Today she got spooked when I opened the cage door and ended up in the back of the closet! I could hear her but ended up having to take every hanger out in order to finally get her. SOO my closet is my next project!! I did get some time soaking up the sunshine, which really helps my stress. ALWAYS good to see you, Kate!!
I have read every word of each that replied yesterday, such comfort to share ,letters from ,you all, and as I love phrases. I call you my "love of life group" the name ,Prodigious Virus Running Rampent" is what I will call this thing forever now! 13 states here in USA, on shelter in place, here in Texas ,its bycounty as yet. A bit of a fuss,Kate but 3X daily!! eat! Just a small bit ,but your body needs routine nourishment!! Be random about Everything else as we all are,especially now. We have our be thankful journal, and I have now my favorite phrases journal, with one page devoted to foods I've never heard of list from the LGS . Joke Time !! Good to connect with all of you on the lime green sofa. I’ve been self quarantined for a month now and I yearn for the touch of another person. My sweet dog, Spike, is the only other warm body I have to connect to. I’m grateful for phone calls and texts. Let’s not any of us go round the bend. Sending you virtual hugs! We're about to go into national quarantine/lockdown and that will last a month. I'll be working throughout so might just go around the bend anyway! It's nice to know how everyone else is getting along, it feels better knowing we're not alone in this.

I resolved to get up early too. I am usually at work by 6am but since they closed the store I work in till April 11 I have been staying up late. I want to be more productive but my heart is not in it because my Punkin (cat) walked out the door to play in the sunshine last Saturday a week ago and never returned, My vet wanted to put him down almost 3years ago and I said no...he is a fighter and wants to live. We hard some hard times but he never gave up and neither did I. My heart is broken. but the thought of him being on the Rainbow Bridge or my mother watching him lightens my spirit. Thank you Kate for adding beautiful images of your crafts and where you live.

I look so forward to my daily time on the lime green sofa! I completed a jigsaw puzzle yesterday and today it went back in the box to free up my dining room table where it has been for the last week. I haven't done one in years and forgot just how much i enjoy walking by the table and stopping to find "just a few more pieces" to put in place. I also have a patchwork shower curtain I'm working on - it was going to be a quilt many years ago but wound up being a ufo of which I have several - so I decided this would be a good time to finish or re-purpose these projects that life got in the way of. I love the fact that you also have multiple projects going. Thank you Kate for inviting us all to share this bit of time each day. Love from Long Island NY USA.

Was very productive today. Helped my daughter till and plant her raised garden beds. Plus ended up shampooing a 50 lb dog who thought it would be fun to go next door and swim in the cow and horse poo. Now it is time for me to relax on the lime green sofa as I await my pizza delivery.
I have visitors and my husband and I have 2 grandchildren living with us. I’m just 1 month out of spinal fusion surgery (I hope I’m not being redundant) but doing very well. I have nurses or PT people visiting through the week; just short visits; but I am concerned about their health. They are all such dear and kind, caring people I just want them to be well and their families also. Things are pretty much business as usual here at home. No school, of course, for the teens, but they have part time jobs. Right now, I’m resting this back with one of my furry babes, Ember, lying on my lap, purring loudly. Save me a place on the lime green sofa, please, and a nice pink cushion. I’ll join you all later. Much love and lots of well prayers for everyone.
So glad your fusion was done before all of this...now you can rest and heal. You know the green couch has a very comfy spot or two for folks who have spinal precautions...and we will bring you tea!

It is good to see you again, Kate. I Love your visits. I don't think you are being trivial at all. The seriousness of the situation makes the need to focus on positive things we have some control over even more important. I agree that keeping busy and creative and having a routine will keep us from "going round the bend," as you say. Also, the support you are nurturing here between viewers is a huge contribution. Thank you. I would really like to know what you are planning to grow for your green drinks. I am starting to think about my garden and am going to plant things for my green drinks, also. So far, I have kale and spinach and lettuce. I also love parsley in my green drinks. It adds a fresh taste. Take care and stay well.

I slowly became accustom to being isolated once I retired from teaching 3 yrs ago. I realized I needed a different purpose. Have been widowed for 20 yrs. I was only in my mid 40s. That's when I turned to quilting & sewing. I get my household chores done & then as long as I want sewing til evening. Is good to have a routine & purpose! You are now a part of my routine since I found you😊thanks for sharing your talents, calmness & your lovely home,critters & country!

I went into town this morning to get the last bag of the dog food my pup needs. The store clerk said they might be closing so I made the decision to go. I worn gloves and an N95 mask. Then since I was already in town I went to the grocery store and did a double shop and put it on my credit card rather than wait til Fri. when it’s payday (day of the pensions going into my checking acct.). It occurred to me that the store could be quite busy on payday and supplies more limited. So I was preemptive. A few people were wearing masks but there were few about, thankfully. Now I don’t think I’ll be going anywhere with people about for at least 6 weeks. Thanks, Kate.

I also got extra dog food for my little dog. She can't change brands without getting an upset digestive system. So I am making sure she has some to last. That is the only thing I have bought ahead.

Hi Kate, your cats are like our. Daytime they cosy up in their favourite place good as gold. I’ve made a commitment to myself when I retired to walk daily. Today it was snowing pretty good so off I went, only to have the snow change to rain. A hour in my walk my jacket was drenched, and had to have my hubby come to rescue me. Seeing your blue sky looks very inviting. Thanks for looking in on us very appreciated. 👍❤️😊

Thank you so much for a lovely video ... and thank you everyone on the lime green sofa. It's lovely to read through the comments. Personally I had a tough day, there was yet another broadcast today and Ontario has passed stricter conditions and all non essential businesses are to close for two weeks, may be more ... Unfortunately there are those that want to ignore the necessary distances and group congregations. Plus my co-worker was off today due to feeling ill and she also found out that she may have compromised her partner's health and now I'm feeling the same way given that both our partners are high risk (even though we work in an office of 3). I have to admit it brought tears to my eyes. I have a lot to be thankful for and that is what I intentionally focussed on but the impact is so BIG on every human being it just enveloped me. Anyway onward and upward as me mum would say and keep your chin up ... that is what we are going to have to do and thank you Kate for bringing that encouragement.

I love your garden planning journal - it is much neater looking than mine, however, they do the job. Pehaps we can have a seed exchange on the big lime green couch. A great list, Vienna helps me to make sure we keep some normalcy. It is just before bedtime for her and you will be pleased to know her Dad is reading Harry Potter to her while she hand stitches a wee pillow for the doll she made last week. Hello Kate and all on the sofa, lovely to catch up .It's been a sunny day in Somerset, I was tidying in the garden and spotted the bluetits again. This is good news ,as over the weekend I was convinced they had moved to a better home ,as I didn't see them at all ,it has now become obvious they were popping in and out while my back was turned .It was a happy moment today as I spied them scooting backwards and forwards into their home .Lots of fresh green shoots, (some as green as the sofa) pushing through the soil to find the sunshine ,spring is all around .Kate I love your idea of planning what to grow & the seeds you need to get. You have inspired me to plan my seed purchasing this year ,and not get enticed by those oh so colourful catalogues.
If we were to introduce a word of the day I think today's word could be ....Planning .

Today was laundry day. I have visited via the phone with my sister and daughter in law. I try to get outside every day even if it’s just to get the mail. I gathered asparagus too. Without the garden and hand work I might go round the bend. Lol. Sewing is harder to stay focused on. Love your vids and send you a big hug for doing them. So glad cat Rita is better. Blessings

Dear Kate, thank you for your uplifting chat. I've subscribed for a long time but never have i thought to say "thank you" before .if love to be in the sofa. Stuck at home with a bad back at present and unable to go to work. Already knitted a baby jumpers and a 1 st size tank top. Luckily my mother's day present was x3 quilting magazines which will see me through this next week.keep up the great work
I was calm till they announced closure of non essential businesses and it hit home just how serious this all is. I enjoy your daily coping videos. I'm sitting with a glass of wine and calming down. You are my RUclips gf! And doing a bit of small stuff a day is called chunking. I work with special needs high school students and we always give them small projects they can successfully accomplish so no meltdowns occur! But we can adopt the chunking plan too on our daily lives!

Make room friends on the lime green sofa I've,spent the last 2 days making masks for the hospital where my niece works as an ER nurse and I'm exhausted. I need a little sit down. Tomorrow we are officially ordered to stay at home. There are 4 or 5 counties along the KS and MO border that are considered hot spots for the virus and our tiny little county is one of them.It's okay though because our kids have grounded us anyway. I plan on making masks, doing a little quilting in between and maybe some crochet. Your lovely kitties look very comfy. My daughter got a kitten this winter and since she is working from home her kitty is being spoiled rotten. I suspect he will be quite upset when she returns to work.
I am splitting my days up too! I get up at 7 and am dressed by 8ish. An hour or so in the garden weather permitting and I am sorting out a cupboard a day. Doing an inventory of what’s in my freezers, so I only buy what I really need, not think I need 🧐 sorting out my spring/summer wardrobe and packing stuff away or bagging it up for charity. I also sew so there will be scheduled sewing time and scheduled time to read/snooze 😁😁❤️
Getting dressed everyday is definitely important. I’ve been reorganizing my wardrobe, too! Thanks for all your words and gentle voice, it keeps me sane.
Kate , thank you so much for doing your videos , it is like having a chat with friends. The bit - get up and get dressed properly by 8 am resonates with me just now. Some days I am really good , others I get up make a cup of tea and go back to bed for too long. Not sleeping but looking at Vlogs , reading a book , etc. That is my challenge,! UP AND DRESSED BY 8AM ! And hello to everyone else watching💕
I have also been living alone for a very long time. So I do things as I feel the need to do them. For today I swore I wouldn't spend so much time on the laptop but I have gone over as usual. But I did take breaks and did some dusting and gathered things together for donation. I wonder if they are going to do pick ups. I also ordered some supplies from Amazon. Now I'm off to put a wonderful stew together and then put it in 1 serving size containers to freeze. Have a wonderful evening all.

I’ve had such a horrid sinus infection, that my sleep has been positively atrocious. I didn’t realize it was Monday today, for example lol. But, I haven’t wanted to let myself slip into negative thinking while I’ve been ill, so I’ve tried very hard to at least shower and dress once I’ve gotten up for the day. Now, whether that is in the wee hours or noon, I can’t predict right now, lol, but I’ve tried to stick to that, and just focus on getting well. I’m getting extra special pampering, and even tried to sew last night, but I was just exhausted from coughing. (No Covid I promise, and I have antibiotics working on me!) You Tube has kept me company, so I have been especially appreciative of the Take Care videos. Thank you! ❤️❤️❤️

Oh Kate, I’ve so looked forward to your video today. It’s been a week now, and I’m still working on keeping my spirits up. I’ve been making things with my hands, mostly face masks for a local nursing home staff (non-nurse). I wish so much I could be outside!! But as it is, we had two inches of snow today. And it’s too early to plant.
I have a book similar to yours; it spans 17 years of my gardening here. And I can’t put it down when it comes time to organize my vegetable garden; I have to plant everything on paper first!
The hunkering down is difficult at times, with the snow and having to go to the grocery store. But I take the dog out to get the mail, and visit outside for a while. The trees in the yard and orchard uplift me.
I will take your advice; set a time to be up, dressed and ready for the day, no matter what it brings. Bless you, Kate.

Thanks again Kate. Talking about walking I had been down to the seafront along the harbour and there was a gorgeous white swan (Denmark's national bird) which spotted me and waddled up to the rocks. I think she wanted food and followed me on my walk for ages. Nature is so wonderful.
I’m not being as productive as I should. I need to do a mental list like you said. I thought you lived next to a farm. Is the farmer gone too? It sounds like there are other rentals near you? I remember a long time ago you said you rented and had lived there for 36 (or 35?) years. Today I saw my grandsons for the first time in two weeks. My husband and I drove over to their house and we stood on their driveway and talked to the boys & our son-in-law for an hour. We stayed 6 feet apart but it was fun to see their faces and be somewhat close. My husband has leukemia so has to be extra careful since he has a very low immune system. Social distancing is sad. That’s why you are such a bright spot in our days Kate!

Thanks Kate, I appreciate your videos I get dressed everyday! Just got word that Michigan has a three week extension on our shutdown. I have plenty to do; my knitting and quilting. Some states are experiencing a shortage of medical supplies. The local retirement home has put out a call for homemade face masks , so I will be putting my scraps to good use. There is an elastic shortage , waiting for my Etsy order. Take care.
Hi Kate Thanks again for "connecting" with us have so enjoyed the videos. Glad your furry friend is improving hope that continues. I so get the bit about getting out of bed when it would be so easy to stay comfy and warm. But so far on this uncertain journey we are taking I am trying to stay positive, and find something productive as you said. As a multi crafter I can turn my hand to quite a selection of different projects. Thank you for another uplifting video. We need to stay cheery and bright and positive and the way to do that is to stay connected in any way we can.I text my children every day, chat with my tiny grandchildren too who only live 5 mins away but it feels as if they are miles away so it's important we keep the lines of communication going. These videos are wonderful so ty for taking the time to share you thoughts and your day. I too have been busy in the garden, clearing the old greenhouse and trying to wash the winter mould off it without it tumbling down !! Many blessings, take care.xx

Hello all. I spent the weekend making facial masks for hospital and other care workers, as many of us are...attempting to help with the material shortages. My husband has been spending a lot of time working at his lathe, turning out gorgeous wooden bowls, plates and whatever else he fancies. It can be a wonderful time, this staying sheltered at home. Make a good memory and stay well!
