Loved this!!!! Thank you💖💐💖🐝🐝🐝. You have a buffoon like I do....for the life of me I can’t understand how the Orange one became President. I do believe we are on the verge of a wonderful new, more compassionate planet.
Here in the US I can only refer to our president as #45 (he's the 45th president). I cannot bear to say his name. I guess we have that in common. I give you so much credit for tackling the hive project. Happy bees for sure. Not every state is in Stay at Home mode, but mine is. Managing okay so far. Stay well.
It actually makes me sick at the mention of "he" who will remain nameless. Everyday it gets worse and even the DR/ Infectious diseases will not debunk his lies for fear of reprisal....
Hey. In Illinois on day 20as was sick ticking all boxes but untested because of course. My town is shut save groceries, had enough rain walking in alley is treacherous and doing stuff still is exhausting.
Hi Claire, Even the sound of his voice makes me shudder. The ONLY power we have to make change is vote! i also send emails to my Congressmen and Senators.
Cdolander you said what I was thinking! Kate is a treasure, she inspires and keeps me going through this terrible time and that I shall be eternally grateful for. And not forgetting all you lovely people on the lime green sofa! Take care and stay safe everyone x x
Yes, Susan Rollings. I love it that we get to visit with her every day now. my husband fixed it so i can get utube on the television. So i turn Kate on and listen to her while i am doing other things. I am in Indiana, where are you Susan?
Hi everyone, you all have to be optimistic. I live in Italy, in Lombardia , in Bergamo the town and the county with the highest rate of infected people in Italy. We have been isolated for nearly 3 weeks and in total lock down for the last 2 weeks, but the number of infected people is decreasing. The lock down works. My town, usually very busy and noisy, is silent, but we all know that we are in our homes doing our best . Your latin reminder , forum , fora ( plural) brought me back to latin lessons at school , decades ago, and the horrible marks I often had :). By the way we don't use the plural " fora " in italian, but just "forum". Love , Elena
elena bello Hello Elena- thank you so much for your encouraging news from Bergamo. I hope you continue to see many more decrease rates very very soon. Meanwhile, it's so lovely to sit beside you on the Kate's big green sofa whilst I finish knitting the second toe on my pair of socks. Wishing you Lots of Love from the UK💖xx
Sending you best wishes from the Treasure Coast of Florida. I hope with your strong resolve to lockdown it is a turn around! We in the US are still in denial about the virus..
elena bello bless you elena 🤗 so lovely to be here with you, and everyone else too. Thank you Kate for providing this space you are an inspiration, take care 🙏
I've been isolated for almost a week, doesn't feel much different than before. Husband and I have been retired for almost 10 years so have figured out how to be in the same house 24/7. That took some doing and a great deal of compromising. It's cold and over cast but we got outside and moved a lilac bush. Now for the fun part; I've started a new quilt. It's a very simple one, so mindless type sewing, but I really love the fabric. I really need some time on the green sofa with a cup of tea to warm me up and some visiting with the other ladies.
Ada Hathaway I ve started a trip around the world quilt with lovely Kaffe Fasset Collective materials. I’m limiting myself to so many blocks a day so I don’t finish it too quickly. I too am retired just in September though. My husband has been retired for three years now. We’re used to sharing the house as I was used to long holidays as a school teacher. Stay safe.
Hi Ada, I have been making a quilt too. I am making red, green, pink, & cream sampler blocks with the hope of making two Christmas quilts this year. One will be a medallion style & the other probably set with plain blocks but I'm not sure. I usually get one or two blocks a day finished as some blocks have many little pieces. I enjoy it, so its not too hard to follow through everyday. Today in Indiana is chilly & overcast. I wouldn't be surprised if we had snow again this week. The weather has been very odd lately! Take care of yourself!
Well visit away Ada. I would love to hear about your quilts. I began to hand quilt about 19 years ago when I moved home to Idaho and I still can't follow a pattern. I watched 2 good neighbors and on my Mother's side GransMother Great Aunts, Cousins and friends as they worked and shared time. I found I do my best work in creating the crazy quilts and very random scrappy patchwork quilts and "things". The many colors are so enjoyable.
I am finishing mkaffe fassett quilts that have been in the closet for ever! In Belgium we are almost 2 weeks in lockdown so plenty of time to finish those. Finally started handquilting my smallest granddaughters quilt that I made when she was born 15 months agoo! But I mainly use Kaffe Fassett fabrics these days.
You may think you made a mistake, but I think your pure genius. It seems that you can tackle any project. It is so amazing to me. All that work will be worth all the trouble that it took when you gather your delicious honey in. I live alone , too.....and I’m 70, but it feels abit wobbly now-a-days to be alone. But Im fine and very comfortable. Hope you are, too. A trip to the mailbox and garbage can are my big outing. But I keep busy doing hand sewing which I love. W/out my stitching, I wouldn’t be happy at all. I do so enjoy you, dear lady, and your videos. Bless you each day.
Anne LeFevre blessings to you anne, you have a beautiful name, I am living alone too, wobbles come and go then I get out into the garden, who would thought that a garbage bin run would become a highlight 😄 good luck with you projects 👍 take care
I share your outings, lol, have gone back to knitting dishcloths, at least trying. I'm a quilter but have had a hard time with concentration, watching Kate and my other RUclips friends have helped so much. Blessings to you, Kate, and everyone on the LGS {{}}
My husband did the grocery shop today - it took 3 times longer than usual as he had to visit 3 different stores to get our essentials (no tp or soap to be had anywhere). A lady in at least her 80's was standing there looking lost. "I can't find the things I need" Hubby offered to help and she said "thanks Sonny" (hubby is 72) "I'll be okay". The lady behind him said "Come on, dear, I'll help you find what you need or something else that will do" and took her arm to guide her back to the shelves. Hubby had tears in his eyes as he told me when I got home from work... So many people are going out of their way to help others, I am proud to be an Aussie! My love to all on the virtual green sofa.
Good evening Kate and everyone on the LGS 👋🏻 Love your wooden beehive jigsaw - the struggle will be worth it. I think it would look lovely in a deep peachy terracotta colour. I’ve been having a bit think since the implementation of more draconian measures 🇬🇧and have put some thoughts together to help preserve our sanity under lockdown: - Appreciate that you have somewhere to stay safe inside. - Take care of yourself physically, emotionally and mentally - eating sensibly, exercising, telephoning, texting and video timing with friends and family. - Keep a gratitude journal and count your blessings - Don’t watch the media to get your information, get from official government/health websites and official documents - media tend to sensationalise and give misleading info. - When things feel like they’re getting on top of you, stop, take a few deep breaths to calm you down and keep you grounded. - Be patient with the people around you who may be frightened or antsy or frustrated. They can’t help it. You being calm may help them to calm down. - Focus on things you can control and keep your hands and mind busy. Learn new skills and hobbies, practice and hone existing ones. - Cut yourself some slack, don’t beat yourself up if you struggle to do any of these things, just try your best and most of all - Stay safe, stay well and keep your distance xxx
Your words are thoughtful and I would add to your suggestion of information sources and try to limit checking new info, to once a day. Someone will call you imti ask what you think about the latest big change in events. Stay well.
@Elizabeth Prior You've done a great job of laying out the best points here. Thank you for this. Sitting on the LGS with all the rest of the folks makes it all seem doable.
Haha what you actually need as part of your kit is a pencil behind your ear. Solves everything. It's a kiwi bloke thing...probably other places too. Thanks Kate❣️
Lol, I am stealing this habit. In rural TN aka farm boy (girls too), the trait in my area was the tip of the tongue sticking out one corner while whistling. Cant do it all these decades later....just tried lol
Wow, Ellen Rose, you just gave me a flashback to my childhood in the 50's. My father had a handyman with the pencil behind his ear and in the summer he kept his pack of cigarettes rolled up in the sleeve of his white T-shirt. He always had a halo of smoke and squinted the eye on the side his cigarette hung precariously out pf his mouth.
Ellen Rose - Before I retired I was a Librarian and a Technology Specialist (its too complicated to explain how that happened) and I always had a pencil stuck behind my ear as I was forever having to jot something down - call number, IP address, email address, someone’s name. It had to be just the right length to stay balanced - a brand new pencil was just too long.
Kate, I laughed out loud at you not saying your PM's name. I'm in the U.S. ,how would you like to have to say that name on a regular basis? It's torture!!!! I love the sofa and all the folks on it. Hugs everyone.
Mary, isn't he a poor excuse for a humane ? He's lying away on the tv this after, totally u ignoring medical professionals , locking down and putting the Downtown ahead of humane life.....
I wait every day for your videos. They remind me that there is still calm and peace in the world.I'm from Indiana and starting tomorrow we are on complete lockdown as well.I am starting a new quilt and soon it will be warm enough for gardening.I am glad you kept up with the bee hive. You have so many fascinating things to keep you busy.I do understand your inability to not speak your PM name...I can't speak our fearless leaders name,I am ashamed to even let people know I'm American.Just so you know I didn't vote for him.Thank you for daily chats and for bringing us a little joy in or day.
The more views of your house revealed the more it could be that whomever designed/built your home knew you would be the happy occupant. All of the lovely nooks and crannies! Is help not one of the best things? We are so blessed to have the internet’s limitless resources. Steven is to be commended for thinking outside the box, eh?
Best laugh of the day when you nailed the piece to the table, a girl after my own heart. Lol. You are an inspiration, wish I was half as crafty. I'm sat 6ft away on the green sofa. Stay safe everyone. X
Take care my dear - we need you. I'm so glad that you are well prepared for this social isolation and have lots to keep you busy and healthy. Washington state is in complete lockdown also. We've been married for 55 years and love being together - we entertain each other and also enjoy quiet times together. We both have projects around the house. I do wish we had bought some spring plants for the deck before this happened - but I do have a very few seeds that I can sow when it gets a tad warmer.
Washington state USA we are on lock down. I'm going to sew up some masks. Find some books. Maybe plan a quilt from the sash. Sending hugs out to all. Stay well ,I've got popcorn for the snack on the lime green couch.
Thank you Kate for the beehive tutorial 😍 also on the washcloths , I’m a washcloth knitting fool now!! All colors, striped, bicolor, and of course pink and green, 😍😍
Sitting on the big green couch cuppa in hand acknowledging all the other friends sitting near me from across the planet while listening to you and enjoying the feel good atmosphere 😎🇦🇺💫
I watched the whole, Kate. I laughed out loud when you said, “I’m a girl. I don’t have kit.” You made due just fine. Sending hello and stay safe from upstate NY.
Me too - love the way we say things in different parts of the world. I'm a Canadian working in ND so my American friends let me know when I say something puzzling. LOL
I thought it was funny when you said I'm a girl and only had hammers. I too am a girl and have my own home. I have spent the day changing out a light fixture in which I pinched a wire and caused a short. A couple of friends helped me out. One was an 88 year-old master electrician. He laughed because I had all the tools I needed to fix the problem. A drywall saw, a metal straight edge, an exacto knife ( I think you would call it scalpel,) and electrical tape. I like learning about your bees.
Oh Kate you do make me laugh with your expressions and stories. The other night I made my first pair of leggings for my grandson using the overlocker and I too learnt from my mistakes and felt very happy when I did manage to complete the task. Good on you! I hope you posted a photo on the forum to show them all that you did it!!
I'm watching this 10 months later. I really enjoyed the process. But what really moved me was your encouraging remarks at the end. It has been a long year. I pray that everyone has found blessings in their lifes and continue to find happiness as we continue in this long journey with covid-19. God bless you Kate, you a friend to many all over the world.
Hi Kate and friends on the LGS. Up to today, I have been feeling a bit off, not being able to concentrate and work on much. That's not usually like me. I wanted to do everything and ended up doing almost nothing last week. Kate as an inspiration, encouraging us to make a plan, if only mentally, really helped me. I did some early morning reading, did my office work (from home) for several hours, had a healthy meal, then moved on to a fun and useful task. Making masks for our local hospital. Word came through my church and they got in touch with us, the mission quilters, and we wholeheartedly signed up. I finished the mask kits allotted to me, made my supper and am now chatting with all of you. I feel so accomplished. It felt good to help and be useful. I vote for lime green or tangerine for the bee boxes!
Here it is 4 years later and watching this. Enjoying your ‘get it done’ ‘go for it’ attitude blended with flexibility and humor. So delightful… Your reminder to be hopeful, keep busy, socialize via comments is brilliant. It was an odd time with many adjustments. But we made it through. Here it is 2024 and life has moved on, COVID’s effect has past. And I am reminded of how resilient and brilliant humans really are. Thanks Kate for your joy filled videos. Brimming with hope and laughter. 🫶🏼
Hi to everyone! from the East Coast of Canada. That was fun to watch. It's nice when people include their mistakes, particularly when there is a successful resolution - it's all part of life, and perfection is a bore.
Hey there Em Mc - I have some cousins in Nova Scotia so i would for sure come sit by you on the LGS and see if you like any of the same Atlantic Canada music as me. Ashley MacIsaac, Natalie MacMaster Great Big Sea - that sort of thing
Hello Kate, 🌺 I am knitting my third washcloth in a week already. It's a very soothing "mindless" knit and it keeps my nervous hands busy. I live near the centre of a town, in a flat on the 10th floor of a 12-floor apartment building. Beekeeping is not really an option for me BUT: this year, I will sow lots of flowers that bees like. That's possible even though I only have just enough space for some flowerpots. I guess I will be at home more often than in earlier years 🙄. Maybe I can even take photos of bees... Didn't have the time for my second hobby lately. Always look on the bright side of life. Stay well and safe 🐝🐝🐝
Evening Kate and all friends on the sofa. I know this is late but I wonder if there are any brownies left for me to eat! Lemon drizzle cakes and are another one of my favourites, but then I have loads of cake favourites! Not too keen on biscuits though. Kate you make me smile every time I watch your videos. I got some gardening done with my husband today. We've been married for 53 years now and we fit together perfectly. Looking forward to hearing from you again Kate. As always much to every one. xx
Hi! Gail from Long Island, NY. I have been socially isolating for about a week now. I have also been switching between piecing a quilt and knitting a shawl. I really enjoy seeing these videos. They help keep me sane!!! Keep on keeping on!!!
Just made some scones for morning tea. Will pass them on for the couch. Raisins anyone? Chives and Parmesan? Plain with Strawberry Jam? Someone else can make the tea????
Such a Jack of all trades Kate! Very interesting video. I did something very interesting today. I took a stitch out of my husbands abdomen so that he didn’t have to leave the house to go to the nurse at the surgery. I used my tweezers and my Kate Buckley tiny pointed end scissors which are sharp to the very tips. It was the tightest stitch I had ever encountered and I used to be a surgical nurse! Anyway I eventually got it out after a lot of pulling and internal anxiety( as I was trying to appear confident for my husband) I was so relieved when it came out I had to go and sit down for a while to get over it😂 This isolation is bringing new experiences and my husband is calling me Florence Nightingale!! Stay safe everyone💕
Elizabeth Sawyer - oh my. Well done you. I just had stitches out last week and it was “ouchy”. I received a phone call the day before my appointment suggesting I not go in to avoid contamination and the staff member who phoned offered me a video consultation instead. I quickly surmised she did not know what my appointment was for. So I said “if you think the doctor can reach through the monitor or, perhaps walk me through it step by step so I can do it myself then a video consult might work”. Fortunately she had a sense of humor.
OH yeah, don't do nail hammering on the dining table - I did that once, had ( thought so) thick covering beneath what I was nailing. When all was done I removed the covering, only it was nailed to the table - did the same thing with a staple gun too - didn't learn the first time, I guess. You are a hoot, Kate - loved this look into your carpentry skills - better than mine, that's for sure!
I love you so much, Kate! This has been a very hard day here at my house.....just feeling very down. Thank you for cheering me up with that bee hive! You certainly made me feel better.
highlandscots I’m sad you’re having a bad day. Me, too. Not feeling great and a little bit worried. It’s probably nerves. I’ll feel better if you will!
Spending time outside really help me when things look bleak. Where we live it's been raining...for...days. The sun finally came out today!! A hike, a walk through the neighborhood, swinging my grandson...I can breathe again. We're all in this together :)
Debra Campbell I really think it is the uncertainty that overwhelms me! I am hoping to get outside a bit tomorrow and breathe in some fresh air! Let’s hope that you have a better day tomorrow, too.......please let me know.....
Thanks Kate. Seriously, I think I can say in good conscience that most of us who come to the LHH, accept your invitation of hospitality to sit together in friendship and kindness on the "VERY REAL" Lime Green sofa. We join you here to spend time with "you and others we meet here". Please continue to do you and know that we appreciate, enjoy and are thankful for the many hours that you and your family/friends/neighbors spend so dillagently working to share your life and kindness with us. This is a very "SPECIAL" Sofa you have and we all have a Fast Forward or off button if we choose to skip a video. (We probably will watch it later though) so no worries please. FYI Kate, because of watching "you" and the bees and how you explained, and softly reminded us of their importance to "Life" on this planet, I contacted a friend in the small town where I grew up about 90 miles away from where I live now and they are going to bring some hives from their apiary up here to my little hill. They were thrilled to do it and I am not even responsible for doing the " keeping" of them (that won't last long 😊) & I get all the privilege of hosting the bees and the joy of wstching tjem do what need do. I shall stop rattling on 😶 and just say to all of my friends here on the lime green Sofa, from my house, here on this little hill in Idaho USA I send you snacks, ❤✌🙏💪
@@Loriann3616Well...I did take a bit of a liberty with what i said...lol. I certainly hope I didn't offend Kate or anyone on the sofa. In my spirit I felt Kate was doubting herself for the subject and content of her video. Perhaps she is a bit frayed right now as are we all to some degree. As Sisters on this planet i think it is greatly important to encourage and support eachother with positivity, understanding and kindness. I do tend to rattle on sometimes so thanks for reading my rant. 😉 😄
Hello Kate! I am sorry to hear that your 'lockdown ' is getting more intense. Here in California they have closed all non-essential business - try explaining that to your 84 year old mother who thinks getting your hair done every week is essential! I agree with your comment regarding my daily personal life not changing. My husband and I are retired, we don't go out much and we normally stock enough food to last several weeks. Yet I feel restricted and anxious about the circumstances we are all living through. It's all kind of surreal. Anyway, I pray all my friends and neighbors from around the world stay safe. We will all celebrate together when we've come through to the other side!
Hello from Washington. We are in the same boat as you now. I don't go out much either and usually stock enough food so I don't need to. But, just the same, it feels different now. Stay safe and hope you are finding ways to stay busy. Prayers.
@@faypaints My daughter and son-in-law live in Washington. I woke up at 4:00 am Saturday with an urgency to make face masks for my immediate family. I sent two to my daughter.
I'm reading all these lime green sofa replies and thinking I wonder if I would like a lime green sofa in my house. It was a favorite color back in 1973... Then I thought how some RUclips people have "merchandise", not like the handmade items Kate has in her shop but sort of gimmicky. So Kate, here's my imagination coming out. Kate has lime green sofas in her shop and now to comfort ourselves in this scary time, we all start buying lime green sofas. And I suggest we keep the reason a secret and watch people's faces as they see our lime green sofa with a bright quilt and a cat or two or...
I wish they wouldn't call it 'social distancing'. We're still allowed to be sociable! Spatial distancing is a much better description. Also 'splendid isolation'.
Hi Rose Clarke Craft as Kathryn from Crafternoon Treats podcast says "we are Cocooning ourselves in order to save lives" I think it came from a speech from either a Northern Europe or Canadian Prime Minister... hope everyone is well stay safe stay strong 🤗💞🧶🙋♀️🐨🦘🇦🇺
Ha. I thought the same...maybe one or two or 5 hurt fingers made needle nose pliers our friend. My hammer and its partner, the pliers, are roommates in the same tool box compartment.
Washington state declared that we are ordered to stay home any only essential functions can stay open. God bless us every one as we go through this together!
Debbie, I'm here in WA, too. I closed my bookstore on 3/17, due to my own health risk. I've already made an effort to do much of what Elizabeth Prior has suggested above. As Kate has said, we must be creative and have imagination and compassion for ourselves and others. We'll get through this together.
Also in Washington state. My husband has dialysis treatments three times a week so we have to go out for that, have a letter from clinic that gives us permission to do so! We are both retired so that helps. Lots of quilting going on so no problem keeping busy. Beautiful Spring weather helps. Thanks for the wonderful visits Kate!
Harstine Island here in Mason county , take care everyone I'm pretty lucky here to be ,very remote . I didn't have to go to town for the past two weeks until yesterday to get food .but seems like most people were being on their best social distance behavior . Here's to smoothing out that curve .😷💕💜💕🐓🐔🐔🐔💙
Hello Pacific Northwest couch friends from someone who used to live in Oregon. We moved back to Illinois several years ago to care for our parents. We are now on lockdown. I hear from my dear friends in Eugene and Roseburg via fb. My Roseburg friend posts photos of her hikes and it is so lovely. Sorry to hear that someone had to to close their book shop. Our books and cats are keeping us sane. It is still too cold and wet to start gardening. Our zone has a last frost date of April 15...so, like Kate, I am re thinking our veg. garden and seeds that we have. Today I baked oat, buckwheat, walnut raisin bread for you gluten free folks and because I wanted to save my store bought eggs for as long as I can.....I used a “flax “egg”. I had frozen pear sauce (from my neighbor’s tree) instead of butter or oil ( conserving those, too) . Best wishes to you all, stay home, stay strong. (And with imagination, enjoy the rain bread snacks)....
Here in Ñew Zealand we are in lockdown from midnight.. I am looking forward to doing things that I don't have time to do on weekends,, cause weekends are too short. Will enjoy being on the lime green sofa more often too.
Well, I did watch the whole thing with much interest. I am so glad people are caring for the bees. It was splendid for that man to take an interest in your "pig's ear" (never heard that expression before) mess of the beehive, and take the time to video, and do it soon enough to rescue your day! You certainly followed your own advice to "Bee imaginative." I am sewing blocks for a Farm Girl quilt using Lori Holt's pattern book as I watch. They are just perfect for a time like this to be home and doing something positive. Don't worry about boring us. I have watched almost all of your videos, as I few left to go, because I came on earlier this year, but there wasn't a minute of boring content. Your the best.
The full saying is that you can’t make a silk purse out of a pig’s (or sow’s) ear. Meaning you can’t make a good object from poor materials or that you can make something nice from a mess
@@colleenjolicoeur6059 I did three quilts from book 1, and now book 2 looks to be even better. I hope I can stop after three for book 2, but I keep coming up with ideas.
Hi to Katie & everyone on the sofa, stay warm & healthy. Now is the time to catch up on all those tasks we never like to complete, that should keep us all busy. I knew when that person said you would have to scrap the bee hives that you would complete them.Hugs to all the pets. :):):):)
Hello to everyone from the South of Germany, sending out best wishes and hugs to you all! Kate, when you nailed the frame to the table, it just reminded me when I was still a kid and together with a friend of mine we were constructing something in my room, using all my dad´s nails and the hammer and the piece also ended up being nailed to the wooden floor in my room, but certainly more firmly than your frame ;-). A memory that made me laugh. Does anyone out there have comparable successful stories?
Hi Kate. One word came into my head whilst watching you get to the bottom of your bee hive construction .....’Perseverance ‘ . So I looked online for some quotes. This one is very relevant to where we are in the world today in our lockdowns.......”The three great essentials to achieve anything worthwhile are, first, hard work; second, stick-to-itiveness; third, common sense.” ― Thomas A. Edison. 🌈🙂x
Hi Kate and everyone on the lime green sofa. Keep buzzy, strong, but most off all take care. Good luck Kate with your beehives. Cuddle for the cats and as always greatings from the Netherlands. See you soon , thank you for sharing and your sweet words.🌞😻🙋♀️❤
Another Kate Learning video! I loved learning so much about bees. I’m a little sad to see you a little down about this, but you’re a delightful person even when she is concerned; you still manage to find the positive in all things. Yes, lockdown is not fun. Non-essential businesses have been closed for me for over a week. And today my serger decided it was gong to “social distance” as well. It quit. But I’m still managing and made some peanut butter cookies to ease the pain. One of our past Presidents said, during the Depression, “We have nothing to fear but fear itself”, and that very phrase has been in my head all day. I hope you too find solace; you’ve been so upbeat for us. We now need to be upbeat for you.
Love the bee box. We are good here as well so far. My daughter is a nurse so, it can be scary. I’m working on a quilt for my son and his wife to occupy myself. Hand quilting almost done. Tea and biscuits on the sofa are yummy. Take care, everyone from south Florida.
Hi from Reno Nv. I'm getting ready to more in with my daughter. She's now working from home with 3 kids. Her hubby is still working but don't know for how long. Sometimes bad things happen and bring family closer together.
The whole time your speaking about what color to paint the hives... We're looking at the quilt on the wall behind you. Teal, turquoise, lime green? Is what you have in hives? We'll looking at the quilt, you need to paint the new boxes yellows and tangerine if you have those colors. Use what you have. It's a good reason to clean out the paint shed and make some space. ❤🌅🌵
I agree I love those colors in the quilt especially the yellow and I usually do not like yellow. I am imagining a yellow bee hive against the green trees, grass etc. I live in Arizona and it is not green very often.
Hello from Calgary, Alberta Canada💕 well who knew I would learn how to build a Bee Hive today, I love it, Thanks Kate, stay safe and healthy and Enjoy your day!
What an intriguing delimma you shared with the bee hive experience. I adore your persistence and steadfast focus to problem solve. Well done my dear friend. My pneumonia has kept me in bed and honestly avoiding our idiot leader in Washington. I will go to sleep remembering....imagination and compassion. What beautiful words during this time of trials and tribulations. Godspeed. Love and care for each other. Find small Joy' and giggles in the day to share if only through the internet Imagine and live in peace. Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart Artlady
I will agree with you on the "idiot leader in Washington." What is worse are the idiots who try so hard to please and agree with him. It makes me sick. Even though I want to know how things are going and want to hear the medical people, I can look at him for only a little while. I am currently making medical masks, hopefully they will be able to repel most of the viral components and be washable. Everybody stay safe and relaxed. Love and prayers for all.
Everyone feel better after this? I sure do. Had a couple lovely laughs (that felt so good). I am in NY, USA, not the city but a little hamlet in the Catskill Mountains. We had a few inches of snow yesterday and today I watched it melt. The crocus in the garden seemed to have survived. Tonight, there was a ruckus by the trash cans, peeked out the window and, lo and behold, the neighborhood bear has awakened. He is so funny to watch, wish they weren't so dangerous. Also, the peepers are serenading me the last two nights! They are small brown toads that live by the pond. Love hearing them. Take care all, Kate, thank you. Will have some shortbread to share tomorrow.
So fascinating, thank you for showing how to make the bee hive frames. I love these sort of things. I also knit and need to find my projects that need finishing and join everyone on the couch and chit chat!
Love that you found humor in the mistake with the bee hive!😄 and loved when you had a good laugh about it all, you made me laugh....thank you. Glad Rita cat is doing well. 😘🇺🇸
Love your videos Kate. Thank you for taking the time to "socialize" with all of us. It helps keep me sane. And I really enjoyed this one about building hive boxes. I've always wanted bees of my own but have no one near to mentor me. 😧 Maybe someday, if I'm not too old and rickety ! 😀
What a cozy green sofa. We used to keep bees down in Oxfordshire. But, I turned sensitive to bee stings, so we have up.What I remember was the lovely smell. We used to sterilize the old frames by running a camping gas burner over. The propolis melted to protect them further it smelled wonderful!
Thank you Kate for all these calming, centering chats! Such a lovely peaceful part of the day in the midst of all the chaotic news. I read today that the key to staying sane with all this "social distancing" is "distant socializing" which is what we are all finding ways to do, I hope!
Hi everyone on the lime green sofa and Kate. I brought enchiladas to the sofa today. You are a comedian Kate. I laughed so much at your comments on putting the hive parts together. Got myself going today thinking of you getting up and being ready to go by 8:00 am. I even made it down to the basement to sort that mess out. Several more days of work down there. Makes you feel good to accomplish something. Our "President" thinks it's time for us to go back to work and not worry about isolating ourselves anymore. DUH needless to say, he's the only one that thinks that. Can you tell I don't like too. Hope all on the sofa are doing well and keeping busy. Can't wait for tomorrow Kate.
Bees are such amazing little creatures🐝🐝🐝 I really have no idea how you were able to stay calm and carry on building your new bee hive! I would have thrown it out the window lol! Hope everyone on the lime green couch are staying well & happy😊 God bless Kate🥰
Hi everyone. I live on my own as well so no real difference, the dogs and I get along well and I am enjoying spending extra time with them. Thanks Kate I do look forward to this every day.
Thank you for your video. I enjoyed watching. You made me laugh and took in the seriousness of the covid19 in the UK. And, understand. I can't say the name of the president in the U.S.. so sorry to hear of the closings . We are same here but wacko days he wants us to get back to business by Easter. Literary, Easter day. Interesting. Gkad to hear Rita is doing well. I baked. Love you, Kate. You bring a smile and comfort at this time in our lived.
Kate was not bored ever watching you. Bees are interesting. Love seeing every cat chicken an eileen. Love the quilt on wall. Ihave a halloween puzzle on my dining room table. Its not going together to fast. Everyone stay safe.
So good to see you again! You have serious hammering skills, hehe. By the way all the snacks on the lime green sofa are fat free, gmo free, calorie free, gluten free, everything free! Haha Eat up!
Candace Nagle - and it’s the place to snuggle up without worrying about keeping 2 metres apart - we can nudge elbows and laugh away to our hearts content
I get so tickled, your kit cats think everything is a place for them to sleep 😺 You make me laugh. I love that! I am fascinated that you bee keep! I enjoy everything you do❣
Good job on those hives and frames! Went into winter with two hives here, down to one. Hoping all goes well for all of us with whatever we are working on. So enjoy the visits with you Kate. Hello to all on the Lime green sofa!
These take care videos lift my spirit. You are a delight to listen to. Our neighborhood feels so sad and quiet when I walk Jade the Corgi. So today I am going to do some chalk drawings and encouraging sayings on my walkway. One of the houses with kids had their colorful drawings plastered on windows for all to see! Thanks again for being a bright spot in our day. We on the lime green sofa love you!
Your videos have been such an encouragement to me. I love the content, of course! As a 64 year old art teacher who has had to go LIVE online this week(completely out of my wheelhouse), I appreciate your welcoming nature and friendly chats! It was very awkward the first time, but I will get better as we go forward. I enjoyed my personal birthday greeting from you on my calendar earlier this month. I thank you! From southern Arizona, USA!
Pam Boone you are inspiring me to be less afraid as I go online to teach elementary music classes next week here in NY. And Kate, thank you for being a surrogate grandmother figure, which I really happen to need right now. You’re the best!
Danielle Miller Best wishes as you embark on this journey into unfamiliar territory. I hope you and your students have a great experience making music together!
Thank you for these daily videos Kate. I appreciate what an effort it must be to do them. Please take care of yourself. Best wishes from sunny West Sussex ☀️
Hi Kate and everyone on the beautiful lime green sofa, I’m thinking that they will be very lucky bees living in that hive and looked after by you Kate! Take care everyone, I think honey biscuits should be handed down to everyone tonight! X
Somehow the lime green sofa feels like a safe place in a world gone mad. I don’t actually recognize the planet I live on or where I fit anymore. I find refuge in making masks for our local hospitals and care centers. If you’re a quilter, you know about our fabric stashes. That’s what we’re using to make these masks that will be used to extend the life of the N95 masks that are in short supply in the U.S. It’s good to see all of you chatting away. Let’s continue to hold each other close (virtually) in our isolation.💐
hello from Texas again. Kate, you are a joy to watch and listen to. Great fun, even the mistakes. That's life, huh? Suddenly it does feel like we're in a war. Imagination for me comes when I read children's books, even though I just turned 62. Book illustrations I love. Take care.
Hi Kate! Thank you for another beautiful video! I stayed till the end and I so enjoyed watching you make your frames and talking about the bees! I find that very interesting! Thank you for sharing that and all the positive comments ! You take care too! ❤️
Kate, you had me laughing with your wood project. Reminds me of myself. I purchased a Victorian doll house kit and in bold print the first line of the instructions said, DON'T PANIC. Well, I don't if that was meant to encourage me or scare me. I put the parts back in the box and taped the don't panic instructions to my fridge for inspiration! Thanks for filming and could you keep reminding me to eat healthy.I'm still going at the junk food. I should probably share with my friends on the line green sofa! 🌮🍿🍦
Somehow, your lovely videos are helping me get through this crazy time. After coffee and smiles with you, I'm headed out into the sunshine to have a sit with the hens and then to plant potatoes, onions and greens in the garden. Bless you! 💖
If you painted the hive lime green it would be just like the sofa we are all on. All busy and social and depending on each other. I'm working most days as I'm a nurse and I really look forward to sitting down with you all after a long day and relaxing. My daughter baked me a 'coronavirus cake' - very dark chocolate, squidgy and full of whipped cream - so I'm bringing everyone a slice to have with their tea because wonderful things are even better when you share them.
You made me smile lopsised. What a strong thing to just get it right as most say it's lost. And bee's, love bee's. And a painted hive in colours you like, you made my day ;>* and that sofa is stuffed with us eating cake and drinking tea XD
....and we Americans sitting on the right side of the couch, because we're the only ones that do (LOL) toasting with you... with coffee in our tea cups. 💖💖💖
I also love the curtains! Every time I see them I look at my scrap bin and think...maybe good time to start some as leaders and Enders as Bonnie Hunter does.
A little tip for those tiny little nails, use a thin needle nose pliers to hold the nail so you don't smash your finger or keep dropping the nail. Your so right about having to stay home, I can stay home and fight going grocery shopping until the cabinets are bare. I have plenty of food in the house but OH there must be something very important in the store. But I do miss my fresh veggies. Be safe everyone and take very good care.
I had to laugh at the bee hive building!! Ty, you made me smile and giggle. We've all met those who are a font of all knowledge! Id love to see a video of your bee keeping. Would they like a yellow hive do you think? Something sunny and cheery to brighten the weeks to come. Yes it's become ever so "real" now hasn't it. I think before this new week it was still something which was in the back ground and very much on everyone's mind as "oh that couldn't happen here, not in the UK!" But it's here and it's real and we have to deal with it. Like you say being alone is fantastic if you choose it but when enforced, we do seem to suddenly want to be around people don't we. I'm so glad Rita is on the mend btw. Take good care. xxxx
hi kate, I thought the whole video was interesting makes me want to take up beekeeping but I really love love the quilt hanging behind you what a beautiful job you did and I'm always here sitting on the lime green couch but you can't see me because I'm all the way at the end LOL take care and thanks again for another chat
Well done for persevering Kate, looking forward to seeing it all painted up! Keep well in these strange times we find ourselves in! Thank goodness we have the green sofa! 😃😘
Thank you for being you! Yes, imaginative and compassionate at this time is definitely worthwhile. Great news that Rita is better. Though I'm physically across the pond from you, it feels like you're my neighbor just down the road away, as I live in the countryside too. So happy you have bees! They've become less here over the years what with spraying corn and bean fields... Love your persistence in building the hives; it sets a good example for me! With love and appreciation from Illinois USA.
We are sooooo blessed with your friendship. Your sense of humor, facial expressions and willingness to share is a gift. Thank you for you!!!!!!
I agree, Kate is a treasure. I love the take care videos and feel like hanging out on the couch for a while.
Cdolander you said what I was thinking! Kate is a treasure, she inspires and keeps me going through this terrible time and that I shall be eternally grateful for. And not forgetting all you lovely people on the lime green sofa! Take care and stay safe everyone x x
One of the only good things about this virus is that we get to see you each day, thank you.
I agree!
Ditto
Yes, Susan Rollings. I love it that we get to visit with her every day now. my husband fixed it so i can get utube on the television. So i turn Kate on and listen to her while i am doing other things. I am in Indiana, where are you Susan?
Maxine cook im in south Australia
I agree, in isolation I found that lovely green sofa and so many new friends.. take care all from Texas
Oh Elena - God bless you all in Italy with your struggles and more importantly your victories. We are touched by your stories and thinking of you all.
Sending you best wishes from the Treasure Coast of Florida. I hope with your strong resolve to lockdown it is a turn around! We in the US are still in denial about the virus..
Sending much love to you! Thank you for your encouraging words ❤️🤗❤️
elena bello bless you elena 🤗 so lovely to be here with you, and everyone else too. Thank you Kate for providing this space you are an inspiration, take care 🙏
I love these Take Care moments. It’s quite lovely here on the big green sofa.
1/3/23 that quilt behind you is abundantly beautiful.
Oh please tell how you came to getting along with you spouse! I am going nuts with this so-called early retirement!!!
I share your outings, lol, have gone back to knitting dishcloths, at least trying. I'm a quilter but have had a hard time with concentration, watching Kate and my other RUclips friends have helped so much. Blessings to you, Kate, and everyone on the LGS {{}}
Kate very proud of you. Thrilled you had help.
May have been some PTSD...memories of post-war deprivations and scarcity. Scary if she had any flashbacks
Good evening Kate and everyone on the LGS 👋🏻
Love your wooden beehive jigsaw - the struggle will be worth it. I think it would look lovely in a deep peachy terracotta colour.
I’ve been having a bit think since the implementation of more draconian measures 🇬🇧and have put some thoughts together to help preserve our sanity under lockdown:
- Appreciate that you have somewhere to stay safe inside.
- Take care of yourself physically, emotionally and mentally - eating sensibly, exercising, telephoning, texting and video timing with friends and family.
- Keep a gratitude journal and count your blessings
- Don’t watch the media to get your information, get from official government/health websites and official documents - media tend to sensationalise and give misleading info.
- Cut yourself some slack, don’t beat yourself up if you struggle to do any of these things, just try your best and most of all
- Stay safe, stay well and keep your distance xxx
Great advise.
Your words are thoughtful and I would add to your suggestion of information sources and try to limit checking new info, to once a day. Someone will call you imti ask what you think about the latest big change in events. Stay well.
Thank you 🤗
@Elizabeth Prior You've done a great job of laying out the best points here. Thank you for this. Sitting on the LGS with all the rest of the folks makes it all seem doable.
Salish Sea Quest - nice to see you on the sofa again 👍🏻
“Building up the dramatic tension.” 😂😂😂
Seeing you and hearing your voice calms me in a wold of unknowns. Thank you
Stay near the sofa it's always safe there.
Susan for sure! 🤗
Susan please explain the green sofa.. I’m curious how it came to be.
Marsha Loneagle it works for catching fish too.❤️🇨🇦✌️🙏
Yup I agree, pencil behind the ear, very hi-tech.
I can say it. But why bother...
I refuse to say his name!
We're all in trouble in Canada we have Trudeau.....lol
@@janetflint8202 Better Trudeau than Trump! You in Canada are the lucky ones, I wish I could join you!
I am in complete agreement with you, Susan...what an embarrassment he is. Stay well!
The more views of your house revealed the more it could be that whomever designed/built your home knew you would be the happy occupant. All of the lovely nooks and crannies! Is help not one of the best things? We are so blessed to have the internet’s limitless resources. Steven is to be commended for thinking outside the box, eh?
Yes, thanks Steve. I can see your mind clicking; nice of you to take the time to explain what happened.
Steve impressed me with his ability to see Kate's misstep in building her beehive on the internet! IMPRESSIVE.
Best laugh of the day when you nailed the piece to the table, a girl after my own heart. Lol. You are an inspiration, wish I was half as crafty. I'm sat 6ft away on the green sofa. Stay safe everyone. X
I laughed right out loud at that.
I had to tell my hubby what I was laughing at! Was watching with headphones.
Oh isn't she brilliant with things.
I have plenty of room over here on the sofa. My part is in Idaho.
55 Years! Well done you! Keep Safe and Happy ❤️
55 years! Congratulations!
Hi Kate, high everyone on the sofa, that was a Harry Potter hammer, it never touched the wood! Lol stay safe xx
I like the sound it makes when she speeds up the film. Sounds like a really loud woodpecker.
Hi . :):):):)
@@brendaguerin5423 Me too!
LOL
Colleen Jolicoeur funny!! 🤗
Hello everybody !I am isolated in Menlo,Georgia USA.Wishing you all the best.
Denise W 👋👋👋 from kent uk beautiful day it was today, now middle of the night, mowing lawn tomorrow for the first time this year
Hi Kate and friends on the LGS.
So delightful…
Your reminder to be hopeful, keep busy, socialize via comments is brilliant.
@@colleenjolicoeur6059 Definitely, all of the above! NS cousins are just across the Bay. Maybe a kitchen party on the LGS?
Have you seen Ian Sherwood perform? I was lucky to see him at Trailside Inn on PEI a couple years ago. I believe he performs a lot in Nova Scotia 🤗

Hello Kate, 🌺
I am knitting my third washcloth in a week already.
There's so much to learn craftwise so yes all we need is imagination!! The world of the imagination is our oyster 💚💚💚
As always much to every one. xx
53 years?! How marvelous! Here's to many more! Hugs from California

What fun today Kate! Had a real giggle when you nailed the wood to the table!😁 bringing peanut butter cookies to the sofa today
Hi! Gail from Long Island, NY. I have been socially isolating for about a week now. I have also been switching between piecing a quilt and knitting a shawl. I really enjoy seeing these videos. They help keep me sane!!! Keep on keeping on!!!
You can do it Gail! It will soon be over and you New Yorkers can maybe breathe again. Have some tea and a scone.
Just made some scones for morning tea. Will pass them on for the couch. Raisins anyone? Chives and Parmesan? Plain with Strawberry Jam? Someone else can make the tea????
Oooo chive and parm sounds so good. Never made scones...my chive is up now.. must find butter in freezer...
Oh, yes. strawberry jam, please! I'll put the kettle on...
That is true love Florence!!!
That is true love Florence!
Gillian McKie Hope it went well and you are stitch free now! Happy healing!
I'm sorry you've been having a bad day. I have too. We WILL get through this, but the uncertainty is draining. Take care and may tomorrow be better!
highlandscots I’m sad you’re having a bad day.
Sending love and hugs to all 🤗❤️🤗
Debra Campbell I really think it is the uncertainty that overwhelms me!
Susan excellent!!! 🤗🤗🤗
Good replies gals. We all love Kate and her videos.
You are so right! We WiLL celebrate! Probably have to clean up the LG sofa some, but what's a few crumbs? Wishing you peace.
@@debracampbell5151 That was nice of you! I am sure they will appreciate it. Also, it is something to do, which helps. Take care.
That is a very good point! You are correct. I am going to start using your phrase...it mellows it down a bit.
I do like this phrase better. Less fear of being alone.
Ros Clarke Craft Ok, that’s my new reference, “spatial distancing,”
Hi Rose Clarke Craft as Kathryn from Crafternoon Treats podcast says "we are Cocooning ourselves in order to save lives" I think it came from a speech from either a Northern Europe or Canadian Prime Minister... hope everyone is well stay safe stay strong 🤗💞🧶🙋♀️🐨🦘🇦🇺
You need a pair of needle nose pliers to grasp those little nails when starting them!
Ouch
God Bless you too...we are here on this couch together and this will pass.
Keep safe, I am in Te Awamutu and very grateful to have great people like Kate to keep me company during this time.
Hi Wendy, I am in Te Puke. Maybe we will meet on Kate's sofa one day.
I grew up in Te Puke ❤️ keep safe x
Amen to that Pam.
The full saying is that you can’t make a silk purse out of a pig’s (or sow’s) ear. Meaning you can’t make a good object from poor materials or that you can make something nice from a mess
@@elizabethprior4968 Thanks for connecting the dots.
I love the Farm Girl Quilt blocks Pam. Have a lot of fun with that.
@@colleenjolicoeur6059 I did three quilts from book 1, and now book 2 looks to be even better. I hope I can stop after three for book 2, but I keep coming up with ideas.
Every quilt you do shows you have a GREAT sense of color and MIXING with other colors ! Have fun on the bee hives! God Bless!
I love bees in my yard. A new box of tools would be a wonderful gift to get for yourself. Learning how to construct things is so satisfying.
The hammering sped up is freaky sounding. Good job.
Eva B. As quilters, we sometimes sew a piece to the pants we’re wearing. 😁
Hi Kate. One word came into my head whilst watching you get to the bottom of your bee hive construction .....’Perseverance ‘ . So I looked online for some quotes. This one is very relevant to where we are in the world today in our lockdowns.......”The three great essentials to achieve anything worthwhile are, first, hard work; second, stick-to-itiveness; third, common sense.”
― Thomas A. Edison. 🌈🙂x
Hi Kate and everyone on the lime green sofa.
Keep buzzy, strong, but most off all take care.
Good luck Kate with your beehives.

I heard a good one today - FEAR: False evidence appearing real. Here's to truth and no fear...and maybe some fresh baked cookies.
Yellows are such a cheerful color. Great suggestion. 😊

Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart speedy recovery dear lady, thank you for your kind and wise words 🙏

Thanks Kate enjoy your information about “Bee” look forward to your daily chat. I am sitting on the couch.

Kate, you had me laughing with your wood project. Reminds me of myself. I purchased a Victorian doll house kit and in bold print the first line of the instructions said, DON'T PANIC.
Take good care. xxxx
