I really liked the extra rome cards going into the deck with the reshuffle, my biggest complaint with vanilla pandemic is how you can fairly easily get an outbreak that is immediately re-hit by infection, just seems cheap and the rome cards make it way less likely. Dont actually own a copy of any pandemic so I will definitely pick this one up, thanks for the video
This is quickly becoming my favorite along with Reign of Cthulhu. I LOVE how they included actual solo rules. To me, as a solo gamer, it makes this top notch, and I might try to apply the rules to other versions of pandemic as well.
So, applying the solo rules to vanilla pandemic means you play with three characters and they share one standard card hand of max 7 cards? That sounds interesting.
Can we get a top 10 Pandemics? I think there are enough versions, expansions, etc to make it interesting. Could also include the Forbidden series if need be.
Pandemic Contagion, Pandemic: The Cure, Pandemic base game, Pandemic all v one, Pandemic legacy 1, Pandemic legacy 2, Pandemic iberia, pandemic rising tide, pandemic rome, pandemic cthulhu is 10 different ways to play pandemic.
a top 10 pandemic modules has been on my to do list for awhile. unfortunately the voters put it at bottom 3, so it'll be awhile before it happens: rrt.vnbgaming.com/index.php?survey_id=307
I would always place Pandemic: Reign of Cthulhu near the very top of such a list... It feels a lot more thematic than even the original Pandemic, imho.
i'd rank the offshoots from top to bottom 1) fall of rome 2) rising tide 3) iberia 4) cthulhu. rising tide would be #1 except for the production issues i complained about. i wouldn't say one replaces the other... i think of them all as pandemic expansions, and sometimes you want to play pandemic with expansion X or expansion Y :)
But shouldn't this roll and resolve mechanism bring the very often desired tension like in the Space Hulk Death Angel, the game you've mentioned you like very much?
hey there just wanted to know i deleted your post of praise on the recent podcast because i screwed up so badly with the way i handled the topic, i don't deserve the praise. hope you understand :)
Hi Rahdo, I remember you previously said you consider the different pandemic version more as expansions in the same vein as the Ticket to Ride maps. You however gave this one a separate ranking in your Timbal list. Do you consider this removed far enough to consider this one its own game, or was that just a continuity error from your side?
hehe, this is just a temporary thing to help me figure out my top 10 of the year. once i film that for xmas day, i'll market it like i do the other ones :)
Maybe it would have made this game too big. But one of the primary reasons why Rome conquered the know world was their building of infrastructure namely roads and outposts. I feel like these would be like the rail network in Iberia. I guess what I'm saying is that I will probably enjoy this but a heavy weight version could include more elements.
Thank you, Richard for doing what you do. Your attitude and approach to gaming is truly a contribution to the community.
Thank you for the playthrough! Pandemic brought me back into board games. Love Coop play. I might just get this one for the time period.
Great vid, Rahdo - the interesting solo mode sold this to me, hands down. Thank you.

i dont see any reason they wouldn't work in any pandemic iteration :)

Thank you for review. Now when I sow how to play I can't wait to get it on the table, especially solo mode !!!
Out of the offshoots I’ve only played Iberia. How does it compare to that one? Would this replace Iberia?
i'd rank the offshoots from top to bottom 1) fall of rome 2) rising tide 3) iberia 4) cthulhu.
rising tide would be #1 except for the production issues i complained about.

I like Cthulhu edition the best. I wanna try this one though.
Richard, this is a good game! What player count might make for the best play?
Exelence game!
This feels like Defenders of the Realm (didn't watch play through)....but from the designer of Libertalia yes please!
I expect to see some of these elements in Pandemic Legacy 3 (otherwise I will have to buy this). Love the solo rules!

tbh i like SH:DA in spite of the dice rolling, just like here :)

Deciding hard between Pandemic: Fall of Rome and World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King. Suggestions? :D
for us it would be rome. heavier & crunchier. i'd say go with lich king if you love the setting or you're looking for a lighter game :)

@@rahdo That makes sense. Cant wait to see your list. Always really appreciate your unique view points in your top tens.

sure, but pandemic has always been at its heart a gateway style game :)
@@rahdo maybe potential expansion material
How long does it take to play a solo game? 30/45/60min?
you could probably get it done in 30 min i would say :)
once you know it, that is!
Thx
Oh wait, dice. No thanks.
yeah, the dice are a shame
