You can't know more than you do in the moment, and in the moment he made a great political decision which eased the the others into good feels for him, meaning they weren't swinging at him so much. If he'd have put someone to 10, that person would have brought their full wrath on him just to screw him up so another player that isn't Joe can win instead, since they know they likely can't win either because of Joe. Kinda like how Mitch messed up Josh's plans when Josh made him lose during Extra Turns.
Edit: Also cutting off Jimmy's life later was a great move; cut off the Bolas's Citadel, while being able to also justify it as fair payback for Jimmy attacking the Sorin earlier.

@@khariperkins4243 At that point, Jimmy didn't have anything on the battlefield. He 'could' have played Kaalia, equipped her and swung with her and another 8+/8+, but later admitted he had no angels, demons or dragons in hand. That's why he had to play new Kaalia instead. So he couldn't have killed Josh at that point, despite his boasts during the interview segment immediately after Joe decided to only plus Sorin.
The real question from this episode: Where can we get that "Rakdos, the Showstopper" animation as a gif?

@@seanmacdougall821 It wasn't really a punt IMO, if the scarab God exiles it he puts it back into the cz anyways and he had a mass reanimation spell in his hand.
He played to his *only* out there. Sure he did give Josh more chances of an out but the biggest threat at that point was Ashlen anyways.
If he doesn't try to get the mass reanimate there he has literally 0 chance of winning there anyways

I just reliazed if joe never sent Val to the grave josh wouldn’t been able to do half of what he did turning the game differently
He kinda needed the value from it and Commander tax
Joe missed nearly all his land drops and had little mana otherwise, so it was better for him to resurrect it using a cheaper spell.
Or just putting him to 10 when he had the chance. I think he didn’t do anything with his planeswalker like 4 turns in a row
@@tehClew still think that wasn't to bad. i mean at least in the first round of sorin he knew, that he wouldn't die and at that point it might be good to wait to see who is the biggest thread. also he had some diplomatic leverage.
@@tehClew For some of the later parts of the game, the Legendary Artifact spell, The Immortal Sun, stopped Planeswalkers from being activated, so he couldnt activate Sorin while that artifact was still in play.
I want joe in more episodes. He doesn’t even need to play, I just love his commentary

didn't joshes zombie have pro black when he did this, correct me if i'm wrong but shouldn't it have survived ?? as well at 50:48 josh had an infinite combo to kill everything, sack the vish-kall to itself, it comes back with a counter from mikaeus, remove the counter to put a minus counter on something else, and rinse and repeat. as well as this joseph had this same combo earlier
@@kaiedwards8997 Protection (and indestructible) doesnt stop non-damage based removal. Also, protection doesnt protect from non-targeted removal anyway.

Yeah, idk if it's just me, but I never do politics like they do in these games, if an obvious play is coming that is going to severely alter the game and someone is trying to politic their way out of me stopping it, I'm usually like..."uhhh, no? If I let you do xyz, you'll run away with the game" I suppose it does make for a more entertaining video though.

My favorite part is when Joe doesn't use sorins downtick or feels bad about it showing that he cares that everyone at the table is also having fun and isn't gonna kill them immediately.

Hi, I used to play in the 90s.. wish I still had the cards, hah!.. fell out of Magic around 2002 and only in the last year started watching some other channels randomly.. ..

If you didn’t know there’s a free online software where you can play Magic with others named Cockatrice! Just throw in a .txt file with 100 cards, get a friend, and you’re good to go!

I love watching your gameplay! It’s so interactive and also informative. As someone who is just getting into Magic, this helps me so much! I’ve been wanting to build a Kaalia deck, and this sealed the deal!

@@allankatch2651 boxes are at 400+ you could get a ps4 pro for that much. Hell you could get a pretty good sized army in 40k for that much. And these are reprints. Reprints should never be that expensive especially for some card stock.

Joe should’ve took Josh to 10 when he played Sorin. Josh wins like 75% of the time! Take him out while you can because his decks are built to win the second half of the game when it’s heads up or close to it.
Did Joe even need to put it into the graveyard with the new death trigger rules for commanders?
@@WillishBroadbino they film in advance so it's possible the rule wasn't in effect yet, but otherwise yeah just putting him in the command zone would have lost Josh the game in the long run

Literally Joe was insanely close to winning the game like 10 minutes in. Infinite combo with Mikaeus and his commander.
He had a tutor too! All he had to do was play the tutor (saccing the vampire and having it come back), grab a persist creature, and go infinite.

He didn't even need the Mikaeus for a persist combo, could have gone infinite with a Gravecrawler.

Guys, I don't know what you are talking about. He had the whole combo (minus commander) on the table. I am surprised they didn't even mentioned that. Mikaeus + Cruel Celebrant + Vish Kal is a win. That Toxic Deluge saved the game. The reasoning in narration was strange though.

Feels like every time Josh plays blue Cyclonic Rift shows up and wins him the game.
The episode with him playing Uro was really the limit for my patience, if he's just going to Rift and win every time he plays blue there's not much point in watching when the other decks don't really get a chance to shine.
This episode Jimmy misplayed hard by putting down the citadel when there's a Sorin on board, he could've been patient and won if he'd passed without putting down the citadel.
