    Referee: correct that is a basic fault and the USA guy should learn his rule again. He might think that touching in the same time would be ok but not in this case... Touching in the same time the ball in the opponent s court is another rule and not in this case at all.

    The only thing that makes me question is if the Brazilian player directed the ball toward the American side, then the blocker has the right to block even in the Brazilian space as it's considered an attack hit by Brazil.

      It is very unlikely that such a heavy swinging motion would be considered a block though. But regardless, the ball he was playing was coming from his side of the net. You can't reach over for those, and if reaching over to anticipate a block, in that situation you have to make sure that the block touches after the "hit" - because the hit might not be an attack.
      That's also the thing about the blocker and attacker touching the ball simultaneously, the blocker is at fault if he touches the ball before the attack hit
