- Madara vs The Ninja Alliance is one of the greatest character introductions in anime. Madara Uchiha was a legend, hyped up in universe for a long time before he finally appears in Naruto Shippuden. We finally get to see Madara in his full glory using his Fire Style, Madara's Susanoo and Mangekyou Sharingan, as well as Tengai Shinsei and Wood Style.
Madara dropping meteors on the Shinobi Alliance has become one of the most iconic Naruto scenes, seeing Onoki and Gaara doing everything they can to stop the first one only for a second to smash them into oblivion was jaw dropping. We also saw Naruto, Onoki, and Gaara working together, using several different strategies to fight Madara off, but everytime something appeared to work, Madara had a counter. He even showed his Rinnegan during the fight. Let's analyze Madara's introduction here and discuss how it changed everything in the Naruto story.

Madara is a true example of years of expectations, build up and hype being very well met and worth it. His English VA made all that even better imo.

The sharingan eyes darting side to side.. one of the coolest things in anime period.
Something to note is that he matches the alliance and doesn't escalate. He starts off with hand to hand taijutsu until someone starts using weapons. Then he goes weapon on weapon until someone pulls out paper bombs, then he uses these bombs until temari uses ninjutsu. Only then does he use ninjutsu.

While Madara had the worst way to go out. His introduction was on point and amazing. The anime I feel was even better somehow and that's saying something with how the Naruto anime goes.
His build up. His power. The sharingan evolution. His design. Everything was perfect

madara's introduction was indeed epic and his build-up throughout the series was phenomenal. his power, sharingan evolution, and design were all on point, making him a memorable and formidable villain. the anime did a great job capturing the essence of his character, adding to the overall experience.
You glossed over 9 Tails' panic when Madara tried to summon him. Imagine if he actually pulled that feat off at this point? But the mere fact it didn't work had the 9 Tailed Fox actually grateful for being sealed in Naruto. In other words, Madara had the most intimidating character in the show, nervous and willing to to freely give Naruto chakra without complaint.
The Wood Style was just the cherry on top.

Madara was definitely build different he was an antagonist who was introduced so late into the franchise yet nearly a decade later and he's still one of the most hyped and talked about villain in the Naruto series meanwhile most of the antagonist who came before or after are hardly talked about the only two who even comes close are itachi and pain hell people hardly mention orochimaru anymore and he came before all the others

Madara’s intro and later Hashirama’s flash back about their fight totally live my expectation, this is how you should introduce the legendary, not just bluffing how strong they were then leave the rest to readers.
Yeah, I have to agree, Madara was so well built in character that he essentially transcended to the real world as a legendary person. Then to have him destroy an entire army, showing off his prowess in Taijutsu, with excellent animation, was the true cherry on top we all hoped would come to fruition.

Yeah this intro was beyong epic but it's where the powerscaling of the universe crossed the point of no return. Everything that had happened up to this point could be backtracked but after thus point it was too much and everyone else in the fight became irrelevant.
I agree. I feel that Kishimoto either lost control of the power scaling or intentionally ruined it and the story became worse every chapter. He didn't need to make Madara a god but he went with this somewhat lazy storyline.

23:37 And this is the point where I heavily disagree. I think the powers of Madara and Hashirama in the past don´t help the world building of Narutos history at all. My personal problem is that beyond the "reincarnation" of the first two siblings which was given later, there is no explanation how this two human beings became so powerful and why in the present of Naruto there are no characters with nearly this strength. Why where there beings in the past which are more powerful that the whole modern ninja world together? Don´t get me wrong I don´t paticular have a problem with powerful ninjas. Or huge attacks. Not at all! The problem is that you can´t write a story about walking nuke missle launchers (Bijus) and then introduce a charakter who takes 8 of 9 simultanious out without even getting hurt.
It raises the question why the Bijus where a thing in the first place... Why did Hashirama even care about distributing them if he or Madara where able of taking them all down in seconds in the first place? It devaluates the story told to this moment. In my opinion Madaras Power should be at the level that he could take down the 5 Kages but it should be a serious fight for him not a childs play. Because the way how he is handling the whole situation raises the question why he and Hashirama didn´t end all wars by simply entering the battlefields why would there be a need for any other warrior if they both exist? Were everybody in the past more powerful and that is why he thinks of the kages as of the only "capable" ninjas? Were the "Genin" of the past "Kage-Level?" and if that is the case why is everyone so weak nower days? And again why did the manga told me that Bijus are a huge thing if they aren´t.
And besides could you keep your wording a bit lower? One the best introductions in the history of fiction? I´m sorry but even in the manga genre I can tell multiple other equal introductions like the introduction of L and Light in Death Note which introducess all the hype in only three chapters. Or the legendary introduction chapter of Kaido in One Piece.
And if we compare with other visual Media and books then there are tons of examples for equal and better introductions: The re-introduction to Gandalf in Moria where he changes from a wizard to a godly being, the introduction of the Murderer in the legendary movie "M". The introduction of the Joker in the Dark Knight. Or the introduction of Franics Ackerman Junior in "I am the Night" from Ethan Cross (to be honest Ethan Cross is one of the best introducing authors for casual readers) or the introduction of the Harkonnens in the last Dune Movie.
Actually when Madara fighted the tailed beast he initially lost, but after get his rinnegan become much more powerfull than Hashirama even and it makes sense beacause the rinnegan is one of the most powerfull buffs that is extremlly difficult to achived. Madara also used Kurama to help him fight Hashirama forcing him to use sage mode taking the fight serios for the first time, so biju are still powerfull. To not forget that the combination of all tailed beast (jubi) is tehnical the strongest buff în the entire series.
Minato în Naruto part 1 was taken down offscreen 10 000 shinobis by himself withoute getting Hurt, exactly like Madara did with 80 000 and also Itachi distroyed Orochimaru the main treat of cunnin exams and Konnoha crush two times, so are still op caracters besides Madara and Hashirama. If they didn't esxisted than you would probably say why can be Minato/Itachi/Nagato/Tobirama so powerfull. Madara and Hashirama are just the pick of strenght
@@vladmanea6161 Minato was wiping out a bunch of people because he was so fucking fast they couldn't react in time to not get merced. It was explained pretty easily why he was so legendary for his short time. We're told he was creating new A or higher rank jutsus on his own, we know his efforts were responsible for saving Konoha from Kurama, he was married to and had learned sealing jutsu from the most powerful clan of sealers in the ninja world. There was quite a bit of *explanation* for why he was talked about the way he was. In part 1 Hiruzen fights Hashirama AND Tobirama edo tensei who make no comment on being less capable than their living selves. Wood style being Hashirama's signature ability and Tobirama being the edo tensei creator are all we really know about them for a significant part of the series. Part 1 sets up Hashirama as more of a mythical figure in the history of the village, someone whose name carries the weight of a man who ended a war with his vision, with "Kage" level abilities, not a literal demigod who is nigh invulnerable. The story simply doesn't justify the sheer chasm of ability and chakra brought to the table by this point in the series. Hashirama edo tensei 2.0 is now so much stronger than his introduction that it's impossible to see them as the same character for a lot of people.
The 10 tails kinda makes sense, that's easier to swallow (even though it's dumb you can revive the 10 tails WITHOUT all the beasts' full chakra) because it's a force of nature essentially. We expect the embodiment of chakra given form to be absurd. Kishimoto sacrificed better world building in exchange for an impactful and memorable action set piece, and to some people that gamble wasn't worth it.
You forgot to mention that Kurama shit his pants after Madara's try to summon him.

Last time i checked the rights on live adaptation where with Lionsgate however depending on what will happen with One Piece from Netflix they might sell it to them or co-create. And in Netflix adaptation HashiMada and NaruSasu will be canon, Hinata will beat the living crap out of Pain before Naruto arrives and Konan will manipulate Nagato and use friendzone to her advantage, Rin will be the masked man.

The most epic thing they could have done was instead of having Madara regenerate from the meteor crashing, he tanks it, showing his durability is way higher than everyone else’s too.
He regenerated. We just didn't see it. He tanked the Cataclysm with Stage 2 Susanoo, though.

My favorite madara moment was when he was summoning his perfect Susanoo and when it was only partially complete there was a brief pause … the kage tried to speak thinking it was complete and before they could even finish madara interrupted them and was like “ NOT YET “ and then it got even bigger and crazier I was just like oh nah he different different 😂🔥🔥

I think the only way to improve Madara's introduction would be if he killed a named character (especially since he kills none in the entire series). I would have it so as the meteor strikes, Gaara decides to protect Naruto instead of Temari (for the same reason as Dodai did) but then Dodai tries to protect himself and Temari but he fails and they both die. This works because Dodai and Temari aren't that important and it creates tension between Gaara and Madara. You could add some other character into the scenario if you don't want Temari to die for 'ship reasons but Dodai at least should have died.

Temari is important, though. She has literally the only authentic and believable romance in the whole story.

The reason Madara was so OP is because he was destined to win the war and he did, his world is still evolving and changing to be his ideal reality with no more shinobi or tailed beasts and the curse of chakra it is all coming to an end and Boruto series real goal was to lead us there, when it's all done the world of Boruto will have only peace, only winners and only love just as Madara-sama planned all along.

We need a manga about madara at about the deaths of his brothers to immediately after cutting ties with hashirama all the way up to where he meets obito and unplugs himself. I say this because we still havent seen his mangekyou power
I know because of power scanning and whatnot that madara would lose to some antagonists in boruto and adult sasuke and naruto, but no one *really* has you feel their power upon their introduction like madara. Yeah, someone slapping around assault naruto and sasuke is impressive but that's only because of other reference points. Madara pulling literal meteors from space speaks for itself

Wish he adressed this but it's also noteworthy that Kurama hates Madara so MUCH that he aided Naruto to deal with that wood style.
I dropped Naruto long before this moment hit, but saw the anime scene when it came out. Loved it to some degree, but I'm in the camp that feels it stopped being cool the moment he started casually flicking meteors. This was one of the reasons I checked out of the series earlier too. I like Naruto as a series more when it's more grounded. Not even the whole "ninja" stuff for me, just the combat and lower scale techniques. Nearly every series that starts scaling out of control has the same issue in making 90% of the cast irrelevant.
I dropped Naruto a little later but for the same reason. Characters kept getting stronger just for the sake of upping the intensity and the scale of the fight and not because it made sense, story wise and lore wise.

@@ayham418 There's a good and bad way to have a character get stronger. Every setting also has a certain bend where if it's pushed too much it breaks. Once an author crosses the line there's no recovery. You'll get one cool fight out of it but then cripple all that comes after.

@@ayham418 Foreshadowing something does not mean the payoff is automatically good. Madara was hinted plenty, but never the extend of his power. Only later when things got ramped way up did we get a taste of what was to come. And even then he went way beyond what was previously established.

Of any anime, consider the relative power gap between strongest character and the second strongest… the moment of Madara’s introduction is probably the second greatest gap ever after One Punch Man but One Punch Man’s power scaling for Saitama was more of a joke
Whats really interesting about Madara's intro is that it also speaks to how strong shinobi of his area were in general. Obviously they werent a titan like him however they also werent fonder like this era. Only a handful of the modern shinobi would have been able to last in that era.

What I like the most about Madaras introduction is the fact that he kills himself when both meteors drop, alongside the Allied Forces.
Up to that moment I was kinda upset by Madara being so powerful, to be honest. He can taijutsu everyone effortlessly, perform ninjutsu that would tire the likes of Kisame, manifest the Susanoo with his arms crossed(a technique that Sasuke, while performing it at a much lesser extent, stated that took a toll on him in a celular level)... I was ready to rant abount Madara being fucking a invincible and tireless Gary Stu, him creating and hurling two Chibaku Tensei planetoids being my breaking point, until I realized Madara was an invincible and tireless Edo Tensei just as he was regenerating from being obliterated by his own technique. Of course he would've done do such things, he had the means to do them and the strength of character to back them up.
From that moment since I grew fond of his character, as his deal wasn´t being overpowered, but crank whatever power his current situation would allow him to display up to eleven, suceeding both at coolness and thoughtfullness. It amazes me how a character can resonate in a similar manner with people that just see him in a surface level and with others that notice the little details and delve deeper into the narrative behind them.
For me it never was the introduction that made Madara a great character, but the fact that he was written as a character that will be the strongest in wichever situation anyone puts him into without being forced or nonsensical, to such a degree of success that him not meeting those standarts would be forced or nonsensical, case and point the whole Black Zetsu Situation.
Of course Madara was too OP for Kishimoto, he was written that way from the very start.
Madara should be the final villian, i think even most hardcore fanboys agrees to this, black zetsu's retcon was a mistake..

That is a very correct notion, but as you say, it started way earlier. I mean, Kakashi and Zabuza throwing dragons at each other...except those dragons were not really all that big, they took a ton of handsigns meaning that they would not be practical in combat if the oponent just decides to blitz you while you are signing unless you can prevent that somehow, and both Kakashi and Zabuza were set up at that point as like super talented, borderline legendary Jounin, which by our undertsanding at the time is like one step down from a Kage...so what we saw in that first arc in the fight between Zabua and Kakashi, that was meant to be a window into what the power level is like in the uper echalon, the power level by the end of the show should have been only a bit above that...instead, begining of anime Kakashi looks like a Genin compared to what happens later...
As for the power of a tailed beast being set up from the start...yeah ok, and? The tailed beast was meant to be a walking natural disaster, that doesn't mean that it's a power a single human can or should obtain. The story could just as well have been ending on the Ninetails getting out and still being evil instead of being body body with Naruto, and then nobody 1v1-s it, instead that's why they need a whole army, to army vs 1 the ninetails, cause ninjas just aren't meant to single handedly cause natural disaster + levels of destruction, that's not a ninja, that's a super sayan.
The thing about a person vs an army reminds me of one piece during Marineford and post TS. Luffy who is still not even close to power as his mentor Rayleigh takes out 30-50k enemies in one go. And now he is nearly a god.
