Mine just got delivered yesterday (10/28/2023). It's exactly like your sample. I'm loving it. I originally wanted to get the red handle version but someone beat me to the punch so I decided to go with the black. Looking at both (in pictures) now, I think the black looks better. I just 'oiled' the blade and let some go to the bearings. I didn't need to. I just did it because of the semi-stainless nature of K110. This is my fourth Civivi. My first one is an all-black Praxis. Then I bought a Conspirator in black micarta and a stonewashed blade. I next purchased a Vision FG. The Vision is very good edc knife but for some reason, I still prefer my Conspirator. Bought them just four days apart. This Sentinel Strike is right up there with the Conspirator for me.
Ya, I wish this were in a different blade steel, but at least it's coated so it will help with preventing rust. I'm guessing they went with k110 because it was intended to be a knife for harder use. The conspirator, vision FG, and praxis are all great knives as well. Thanks for commenting!
Got one of these in green aluminum/ damascus yesterday and I've been low key obsessed. I love all of the deployment options, the ergos, the crazy light weight for its size, and the inclusion of a subtle yet functional glass breaker. If I could have my way tweaking it, I'd prefer T8 screws, better steel options, G10 instead of FRN, and to have the thumbstud moved just a bit forward toward the tip and spine (there's room for it, and it's current positioning makes it the least satisfying means of deployment for me). While I don't usually go for damascus, I wanted a stainless option and I must say it does look cool in this implementation. This knife makes for a an excellent EDC!
I'd prefer a g10 integral piece too. I agree with your comment on the studs. The deployment feels weird with the studs and I mainly use the blade cut out or the flipper tab. Damascus is a nice option for this knife for sure. Not a huge fan of k110. I wish it were in something like 14c28n/nitro-v, 154cm.
@KnifeFanatic Thinking more about the thumbstuds: it's not just that they aren't in quite the right place, it's also that they are too small and there isn't a great way to get a firm grip on the knife while trying to leverage them. Right handed, I brace against the clip with my pinky, ring and middle finger, but there's not much room and it's slick aluminum. It's kind of like they just checked the "thumbstuds" box and assumed it would be fine without thorough testing, given the other excellent deployment options.
I've been eyeing this one since I saw Rollshambo's positive video on this. I think the most interesting part is the budgeting-down of a premium WE design. Lot of similarities to the Vision but in a good way I think.
Ya, it's nice when you see a premium knife you really like but don't want to fork out the money for it, or can't justify spending that money and they make a budget version of it. I love that. This one is on the bigger side so I'm not sure how often I'll carry it. I still like it, but I like to carry knives more on the average size or a bit smaller. Mini Nightshade, mini axon, bugout, and quiet carry drift for gym shorts. Pyrite, drop bear, microburst, vision fg, Bellamy, and moyarl type knives for jeans/shorts
