Hey guys! I have made it safely to HERAT in the Western part of AFGHANISTAN, and I'm joined by my buddy Thomas, from Yes Theory! It's his first time in Afghanistan, and it's been so much fun to explore this part of the country together. As they say, happiness is only real when shared!

I'm really glad guys like Drew and everyone from Yes theory exists. They're exposing the real truth and beauty of countries that Americans don't know anything about or are misinformed by their medias. Just the other day one of my friends from the US found Drew's channel and was mindblown by how little he knew about middle eastern countries and cultures.

Whien I studied archaeology, one of my friends from the university was Afghan, he was always very proud of his culture but at the same time he crashed all the stereotypes about Afghanistan I had. I have never visited it, but always wanted to, as it is a fascinating country. I want to thank you for doing so much good to open people's minds.

I don't normally comment on videos, but this piece of art is my home. A home that we left when I was one. A home that continues to shape me from its literature and videos like this. I am not sure why exactly I feel so emotional watching this, perhaps it's yearning to be there but knowing it is impossible for now. My people are the kindest and this makes my heart ache because I know exactly what type of pain they are hiding behind those smiles. You can never break the bond. Its safe to visit my brother goes every year and we left Afghanistan when he was 9 years old. He love it. As a Canadian he is very comfortable there.
But you can freely and safely go because RUclips can, so can you and in your own words, "they have shown the peaceful and wonderful part of Afghanistan. " and don't forget to contribute and help improve your homeland

@@drewbinsky Up until the 90s, no one even heard of Cricket in Afghanistan, beyond historical relics of the Anglo Afghan wars. It was imported subsequently from Pakistan, partially organically by returning refugees, partially as part of Pakistani political strategy to influence the culture. The original game played in Afghanistan, called 'Danda Chobe' was a much more primitive game and bore little resemblance to the internationally played game of Cricket. It was played with makeshift bats and hand strewn balls of rubber bands in backstreets by boys all over the country, much as you see football played in every town and village in South and Central America, Africa and the rest of the world.
As an Afghan, and Herati to boot, I both enjoy and thank you wholeheartedly for your lovely videos. You should however note that not 'all' jews left Herat for Israel in the late 40s. I distinctly recall a small Jewish minority in Herat, visiting there as a child in the 70s. We all lived very peacefully together in those long gone days.
@@wherati that is not true. Cricket, football, volleybal, rugby and many more sports are played in Afghanistan for over 100 years old. I have seen authentic pictures of Afghans playing cricket and football in the time of King Zahir Shah. Only because lots of Pashtoons play cricket doesnt mean u have to be jealous and discrimaniting us. In Herat to Kandahar to Kondoz people play cricket. Its just a sport, its not deep, relax and breath. Peace

Cricket is NOT the national sport of Afghanistan. It’s not even the most popular sport either. It’s arrived fairly recent to the county mostly from Pakistan which got it from the British. The actual national sport is Buzkashi the ancient sport where you ride horses and use a dead lamb carcass to score points.
