As you add more scuffs to the walls and make it look older and worn down all i could think of is james is rubbing off on you 😂 love the variety of appartments you are doing! I would love to see one which looks like several random sims have moved in together as room mates. Mismatched furniture in living areas, different bedrooms asthetics, older appartment again. Like they only live together to save money. Or maybe a large family in a small appartment like a couple have 5 or 6 kids and funds are tight so they cant afford much.
I really like the layout in this one. It just makes so much more sense than the original. Also genius to mismatch the counters, cause it is so true that one would use some cabinets more than others. Loved that idea! ❤❤
I'd love for the Sims to release an IKEA furniture kit/stuff pack like they did for Sims 2 - I think it would feel super realistic for furnishing apartments 🦀
Agreed😂. I work in a building from the 19th century, and don’t really think about it being old, but that might be because I went to high school in buildings from the 18th century, and work in a shop located in a building from the 17th century
@@potternutmaniathey might also live in the New England area of the States, since there are actually some buildings in this country that are even from before the Revolutionary War…😊💖
If I recall correctly, if you click on the plaque in live mode, it will tell you the lore. And also, I think it is a famous chef that used to live there. Notice the kitchen, and how it has all the best appliances? I don't care I would have sold the kitchen--I always do anyway. If they really wanted to make it challenging, they would have set it to where you have to keep the kitchen as well, and if you don't then you bother the spirit of the person who used to live there and you automatically get a haunted residence lot trait. Enter Guitry.
Was looking for this comment before I ended up repeating something already said. 👌🏾. I also usually redo the kitchen but keep in the style of it being fancy based on the idea of it being expensive.
That's so cute! The one thing that I "hate" about apartments in the sims is that it's hard to build a bathroom with a window, I can't stand a bathroom without at least one window T-T
Deli, when I renovate those "historic" apartments, I put walls around the plaque. Just a small 1-tile space. And since we can use platforms to raise the floor all the way to the ceiling, I now do that too so the wall always stays up, even when playing with the walls cutaway. So whether in live mode with the walls cutaway, or with the walls up taking photos of the place, you never have to see the plaques. It's just a little trick to get by that locked apartment trait. I personally wouldn't be able to sleep with that face staring down at me. LOL I also use the platform-to-the-ceiling trick in long strips along a wall that is shared with another apartment. It does make the apartment that little bit smaller, but it's worth it not to have to see into the adjacent apartment and just see your own pretty wall instead of the wall always being down if cutaway.
This renovation was realistic, I love it! I've always wanted an Ikea store in the sims, like where you can go and choose and buy in the store, like what you do in real life.
Yes!! They should have added the ability to move it, but have a requirement for it to be placed on the lot, like how the community lots have certain item requirements! That way we could just stick it wherever and not be forced to work around the existing placement
I always associate this apartment with my more chaotic games. In one game the Scotts moved in and were rude/noisy so I used MC command to make Sarah pregnant (I was like "I curse you with children!" lol), but then I felt bad so I renovated it for them. And then later I was trying to use the tool mod to delete something in their apartment and I accidently deleted the elevator instead
If I want to make a building look a little older/worn, I size down one of the vampire holes-in-the-wall to roughly the size of a doorknob, and position it on walls where a door handle would theoretically bash into it. Adds a subtle bit of realism.
Love how you incorporated the aged apartment and the newer furniture. It looks amazing, and though I agree about tv shows and their living arrangements, in SATC Carrie moved into that apartment in the 80s and she bought it. (Showing me SATC nerd side)
this is my favourite apartment building in the sims because it's four apartments on the same floor. if i have a large family i'll usually move each of the kids into their own apartments as a young adult and have that heir take the largest one. this way they can just walk over and call their siblings to hang out without me needing to micromanage them.
I really do love this! My boyfriend and I have been working on renovations this month to an old house that definitely needed some tlc! We just moved into it yesterday and we still are missing a cabinet door, have a mini fridge in the kitchen temporarily, bed on the floor, and nothing but boxes and cat things in the spare room! Very realistic and comforting to see. Renovations get so expensive that we currently have the bare minimum in our house and aren’t even halfway through renovating. Girl why didn’t you tell me floors would cost $1700 to buy and get installed 😹💀
9:45 I don't know what they call it in Australia but here in the United States, it is not skirting board. That is weird. Called Baseboard for the floor and crown molding for the piece of wood that's ornately designed and carved and that goes around the top of the ceiling and window and doorways. But it's called Crown molding no matter how ornately the wood is carved
I love this apartment reno because it's so realistic. I feel like there are a lot of apartments that look like that, small but not too small bathroom and bedrooms and living area where furniture would work several ways. I think i would play this and have room mate in the spare room. Seems realistic for a young adult to rent / buy an apartment, have the slightly nicer room to themselves and have a flat mate in the other :)
The apartment description from the map says that the apartment was owned by the guy who invented the Puffer Fish dish, which is why it's a historical landmark. Would have been cool to include something as a nod to the lore :)

I love this apartment. The only thing I would change is to switch the worn out cabinet from the corner to under the sink. In my house, that’s where the most damage is done from all the water dripping
ooooh, I had renovated that one, too, to put there a young couple and when I turned away for a moment the story progression gave them 5 kids 😂 So, I had to renovate it again to fit everyone in and it ended up as a crumped but cozy family home and I enjoyed playing in it a lot.
I like hearing you talk about Just Like that makes me want to watch it! And I'm really curious about Aidan's house! Ahhahhaa Loved this! I love how creative you are and how you make the places look living in 😊

Carrie’s house was initially rent controlled, that’s why she had that great apartment. Her character was hyper realistic, and she would often blow her rent money to buy shoes. After her and Aiden “broke up for good,” she had to borrow money from Charlotte (her wedding ring from Trey), just to keep her apartment.
I loved when she had to borrow money and the wedding ring sale. From what I’ve read online people say a “rent controlled” apartment in her area in the 90s was unheard of tho? But I don’t even fully understand what it means tbh haha
It's just a common Hollywood trope. The house/apartment set has to be big enough to accommodate filming equipment/cast/etc., and obviously you want it to look good on camera. It's just that features like this don't come cheap in the real world so there has to be some suspension of disbelief.
23:30 well, it wouldnt be the first time for the Sims team working together with IKEA! I remember their Sims2 collaboration, I still have the game! Hahahaha
Okay can i just ask why no one ever puts a trashcan in the bathrooms? Like, im thinking i have one in my bathroom irl and its usrful in the sims as well plus it ads a little realism. Am i the only one?😂
A lot of people keep theirs under the bathroom cupboard, so when you open under the sink, it’s in there hidden. Sometimes I do that “pretend” way if I ran out of space, but usually I add one as well :)
i learned that skirts cover your bottom so skirting boards are on the bottom of the wall and crowns go on the top of your head so crown molding is at the top of the wall - ever since someone told me that, it stuck forever
Sconces only in the hall could totally happen. My apartment has an overhead light in the kitchen, a small light above the sink, a light above the mirror in the bathroom, a light in the bedroom closet.... and that's it.
