      I also do my stretches in bed before I get up, so eliminate falling and low impact on my body and also on my sofa, along with doing it at other times of the day. It is good to get the system moving before getting out of bed.

    I’m 73 and most of these things I can do except reach up the middle of my back when bathing, even with the back scrubber, but I’m working on it. I did trip on a rug the other day from not picking up my feet. I do stretches in bed, especially the hips. Awareness of these very subtle changes is key. Keep moving. Thank you👍🙏🏻👵

    Good stuff fellas. One thing I have found helpful... While walking my daily 10,000 steps I wear mechanic gloves and knee braces, just in case I take a tumble. The mechanics gloves are light but strong and will protect your hands from concrete rash in case you fall and the knee brace is a compression sleeve with patella gel pad, it gives great support plus if you tale a fall it will protect our knees from direct contact with concrete.
    Terrific channel fellas.

      Thank you for these. At 69, i have a lot of these challenges. It’s remarkable how we make adjustments and don’t even notice we are not moving as we used to. I started lifting my leg up to my knee as I was putting my shoes on. didn’t notice for a long time I was doing this. for the shoulder stretch, a physical therapist taught me to use a scarf instead of a belt.
      I have a friend who developed foot drop at a young age. The doctors thought it was a neurological problem. so as you say, see a doctor to get checked out if this happens to you. she used to fall quite a lot.

    • @elaineculbert8594
      @elaineculbert8594 10 месяцев назад +5

      @@lunasky5635 - Regarding your comment when people find they are falling a lot can, perhaps, mean there is some neurological problem, that is VERY true! A good friend of mine used to fall a lot! It went on for years. She fell again last Summer (2023) and was taken by medics to the hospital. After a few days, she was about to be discharged when she suddenly lost the use of a leg. An MRI was done and three tumors were found. So, all those years of falls were due to, unfortunately, brain cancer.

    Practiced yoga since 1979, always walked, ran, biked, skated, danced since I was a child. Just keep doing what you're doing and you'll be okay. Or so I thought. Sometime between 75 and 78 old age hit me hard. Now everything I used to do with ease is incredibly painful. Will certainly try what you recommend but I don't have much hope anymore. I just try not to hobble too much in public because it is embarrassing to be so limited in motion.

    • @jamesi.5735
      @jamesi.5735 10 месяцев назад +5

      Was doing good until early 40s and developed viral rheumatoid arthritis. Steroids got me walking again but nothing was ever the same. I do the best I can. Some stuff just plain hurts too much. Its a bummer but do what you can even if it hurts some, just don't overdo. Know your body.

    I think there is an aches and pains switch that goes off at age 65 😂😮 (I'm 68) everything goes up a massive gear (or it might have been COVID) . I was losing connectivity especially from my waist down to my feet. I found that doing a whole-body yawn-stretch (like a cat stretching) seems to help enormously. in bed or in a chair arms up and legs and feet and toes out - biggest stretch i can do. I am having trouble finding the hand massager you recommended in your video.

      Unfortunately this hand massager has been discontinued. We are working on another, more beneficial hand massager as this one was difficult to suit all sizes.

    If you're hypermobile, is stretching ideal it strengthening?

    Every now & then a leg (usually calf) cramp happens in the night.
    I keep a 1/1 BioSonics tuning fork at my bedside.
    The vibration softens muscles & ends cramps.
