THe Marvelous Marvelettes...Wanda Rogers on lead, Katherine Anderson, and the late Gladys Horton...with their great hit...I extended it with original backing track.
This Ladies Definitely deserve to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame LEGENDS 2023.
This music deserves to be played on free [AM & FM] radio, but the broadcasters prefer junk music over fine music. That is why their listener shares are lower than the Forest Glen.🤣
RIP, John Perrone (1949-2020), the musical wizard behind the mosogotam extended mixes.
@Inquiring I just found out a couple of weeks ago!! Imagine my shock!! I was indeed grieved by the news. So sad to hear but his remixes will live on! John will truly be missed.
@@megaoldskool76 ... Indeed, I endorse everything you've stated - and we can think of John every time we play his mixes.
He helped me on the road to healing.
Thank you for the information, may he RiP - he put a lot of effort into his extended remixes for us to enjoy.
Have mercy! Perhaps I never saw the "gentleman" in my entire life, I do fervently regret that John Perrone died. His works were higher than high, and beyond outstanding.
As a kid my aunt played this record over and over every day
This record is bonded in my head
Me Too...My folks use to play this constantly.
I was raised on this music. My older Sisters would play her recordings. Brenda had a sweet sound . Rest In Heavenly Peace Brenda !
I must confess that when death strikes someone, one begins to rest in peace, regardless of the place where the person died. However, I am fortunate or lucky to capture this fine music on RUclips. Free [AM and FM] radio would not play it anymore, except to hear whisps of it in a commercial. This fine music is my speed, and no new stuff could replace it from me.
12/17/2021: Rest in Peace Lady Wanda Young. Thanks for your beautiful voice and the FOREVER memories of the marvelous Marvelettes 🦋
Long live the 60s
It's amazing that a lot of these songs from the 60s were composed by Smokey Robinson. Very talented.
Cousin Smokey, smoked 'em...all around talent
I had to get up and Dance !
They really sung this !
Great Music , Harmony ! Wonderful Group " Bad'
best voice in that decade..Wanda Young rocked it.
I talk so fast that I forgot her last name was one of the young I'm sorry love you Wanda Young
They were very good
Wanda Young was married to Bobby Rogers of the miracles
I know that’s right
In the summer of 1960, I was 14 years old and was soon to begin high school. I was at the right time to catch the whole of that decade. It was unbelievable and should be studied for generations to come.
James Jamerson bass in the song was absolutely incredible!!
Rhythm guitar "fill ins" are great 😂😊
Sax solo by Norris Patterson.
I wish The Funk Brothers received the credit they deserved.
Yes indeed, and also to the other half of his back beat none other than incredible drummer William Benny "Papa Zita" Benjamin Jr.
Not to take anything away from the other incredible Funk Brothers musicians, but those two were the very foundation and back beat of the Motown Sound. It's kind of ironic to me how both passed at similar ages after similar professional and personal challenges.
Another Smokey Robinson hit. One of the greatest song writers of all time. The right song for the right group. And this is right group of ladies
They definitely don't make songs like this anymore!
"DON'T MESS WITH BILL"
We had 45's that we played over and over again and this was one that we played #countless times in the 60's!
☆☆☆☆☆
You can Cholly's choreography all over this thing - well done!
That choreography though!!!! Cholly Atkins had these girls on point!!!
Damn the choreography is tight. Best steps for a female group!
There are some more lady groups and more that are as sweet as the Marvelettes. You will never find them in Rap and Hip-Hop music. They are not my kind like our fine music.
They just grooved in their choreography moves on stage so smooth, and I will always ❤ their hit Don't Mess With Bill my favorite!!!!!
Stunning masterpiece! The instrumentation is out of this world, check out the horns.
I always loved this song since I was a little girl! I love this extended version too. 🎵🎶🎙❤
MY DAD'S FAVORITE SONG
I really love this group. I sang in talent shows off their songs when I was young. Inkster’s Finest❤️🔥
I love the Marvelettes! A talented group of ladies in musical history! Truly a class act!
Wonderful remix and wonderful Birthday wishes to lead Ms. Wands Rogers Aug 9, 1943 The Marvelous Marvelettes
Looking back in time, I once loved the Supremes, but now I can appreciate the Marvelettes more than I did back then. So long ago, but it seems like yesterday.
Only reason Supremes got more popular was Gordy wanted an act to crossover for white audiences, plus he was trying to get into Diana"s pants.
Preach the truth
Exactly. And that’s it, and that’s All.
The marvelettes have a whole bunch of really really really good songs especially the day you take one you got to take the other which is my favorite right now Martha and the vandellas got some good songs to just you just got to be on here and keep you to change my life
@@ELPIOJOBOLUDO El Piojo no es un nombre bueno! But you're right about Gordy!
He rocked that extended version Sweet Jesus...leave my Billy alone
Monte Allen
The Name of Jesus is Sweet!
La crème de la crème from the Golden Age of Popular Music - compare this to the crap they call music today - oh how far we have fallen ... thank God we have RUclips to allow us to revisit their great soulful performances ... this is the music that will be remembered.
Yes, bien d'accord avec vous.
excellent extension of the song..we need more singers like Gladys and Wanda today with this vintage music...
what's this with { Vintaged music } serious. correction { CLASSIC R & B OLDIES }
These ladies were the 1st money makers for the Motown sound and they still don't make great music and songs like this anymore. This brought back memories!
The marvelous Marvelettes was the best girl group ever. Wanda what an angelic voice. Lovedall their music.
Used to play this a lot on the club circuit in the 60's;great soulful song and great harmonies.Love it,Motown magic will live for ever!
Wanda young is beautiful, and has a beautiful voice.
For Sure!!!!!!!!
The ladies were down right beautiful and could they sing? I love the extended version
Ppppp
L
One of my favorite Girl groups of the late 50's& 60's,they were all great.
Me too
The Marvelettes were my first favorite lady group. This extended song is grand, but I regret to know that John Perrone died.
Wanda Rogers Young and Gladys Horton simply the marvelettes what more can I say Inkster on the map
Sadly Wanda just passed..The Marvellettes were one of my favs growing up in Detroit. Crazy but times were much better then in Detroit...we loved our Motown..no matter what the heck was going on.
Damn!! ..Those girls were beautiful!!💗💗💗💗
I love the album cover, wow, just looking at it took me back, way back. Listened to Motown all night long all summer long , on my transistor radio (hidden under the pillow ) WABC, NY, cousin Brucie show
Love the sultry phrasing of Wanda..!! Their choreography was excellent....like a sexy flirty sway....too much.!!!....very under rated group....way better than Supremes.!!
ONCE AGAIN I TOTALLY AGREE.
Better than the Supremes!?!?!? Not a chance in a black moon....
I wish these [marvelous] Marvelettes were still alive and living with us.
My favorite motown girl group.. hands down!!! The Marvelettes were bad! Wanda with that sexy but classy voice..
MakupNluvMusic A
Well stated.
yes all the way
Isn't Wanda married to one of the Miracles? Pete?
@@septiawoman2911 pete past away.
One of my favorite LP albums from my Motown era. Such classy ladies!
You certainly ''Messed with Bill'' - and I love it!
Amazing music. Wish I could've hung out at the Motown House when all this was going down.
that was totally AWSOME you can hear everything drums background even the pluck of the bass nice job i love that song
Once again, the master at work. Clean, precise, with a great understated bass line. Nothing overdone, nothing out of place. But then again, did we expect anything else?
John....many thanks for your very kind words!!
You got pure taste. You act like a gentleman more than you would ever say. If anyone does not like it, they had better "kiss off" and get with the program, while they continue to live on borrowed time. Life is too short to be miserable.👌
These beautiful ladies did the dam thing on this cut!!! Killing it props to each of them love it⭐️⭐️⭐️💕❤️😍👍🏾
Splendid!
Exceptional vocals! Clarity! Icons!!!
I love the extended version!
The best song ever from the Marvelettes. I loved this song; my mother and father would put on this record when I was growing up. I would listen to it when I was little. They sure introduced me to all the great classics back in the day while I was growing up in the 80s. That love developed for all music of the world. Thanks for the uploaded mosogotam. I can not wait to listen to more of your collections.
Now, This is MARVELOUS!!!!!!
Motowns first and BEST group Motown has ever produced!!! Thanks
Loved this girl group! My fav song by the Marvelettes was "When the Hunter gets captured by the game."
I was 9 when this was released, and I remember this song on the radio station, WVON, AM Chicago. Although I was a youngster, I certainly recall older teen's playing the 45 on a RCA record player. So much fun in the "HOOD," and plenty of joy and unity. A time when people cared for each other, and music like this song, and countless songs brought youth together and very often parents too!
Just love that oldie...beautiful voices...💕❤️
Wanda Young passed away recently at age 78. Condolences to the family⚘
Finding and listening to your extended versions is a true joy and blessing! Please know that all us Motown lovers do appreciate your hard work on these gifts!! Thank you so very much.
brandx....thanks so much for your kind words!
brandx01 I second that!!
Incredible! Motown Sound just keeps getting better thanks to mosogotam💓
You're too good to me, Sam!!!
I LOVE THE SOUND OF THE FIFTYS AND SIXTYS WOW
Marvalettes + Smokey + FUNK brothers = classic
Right!!!!! 💃🏾
Also, include The Temptations, The Four Tops, Martha and The Vandellas, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Junior Walker and the All Stars, Mary Wells, The Contours, and The Originals. Need I continue! Hitsville worked like a factory instead of a recording studio. It is no wonder the way that many of the Motown artists left Motown, and The Funk Brothers died young.
i have to comment AGAIN! i can hear the horns and the strumming of the lead guitar last time i heard the bass every time i hear something new thats totally awsome
I grew up in Mo’town during this era. When I remember the music it’s amazing how much of it came from these ladies. I didn’t realize that until I watched this video. Mo’town owes them. You know, they sang, we listened.
Smokey was so pleased with what Wanda was giving his songs. There was never a plan to replace Gladys with Wanda as lead singer. Many people on the label have told me that. It just happened at the time that what Wanda was recording just stood out more; in time Gladys would be singing leads on singles again. Or as Martha said, "They just wanted to give someone else a chance." Unfortunately, neither Gladys nor Wanda could handle the situation comfortably but, then again, who could?
Two badass lead singers What can I say They both contributed to the legacy of Motown
Maybe because Wanda was married to Bobby Rodgers that Smokey preferred her to Gladys. Wanda was the lead on the Smokey written cuts.
Interesting insight thank you for your imput much appreciated.
Wayne Brasler I really like your inside info! I thought that was a Smokey Robinson song! I know Jameson was on bass, but do you know who was on the lead guitar?
Did Katherine ever lead a song?
Always loved this greatest hits album. And I always loved the rawness and swing of their songs, even as I like the Supremes, like us kids did back then.
wow, excellent remix of a already great classic. crystal clear. I hear every funk brother playin! at 4:00 absolutely outstanding. listening on killer earbuds. that freaking Hammond is rocking my world..good job.
This is my favorite song by the Marvelettes.Love rhem
I Love This Song , And Your Extended Version, Thank you For Sharing.
One of my favorites from my all-time fave girl group. This version sweetens it nicely without losing the whole point of it. Nice work!
Beautiful ladies! Beautiful song!
Their lead singer Wanda had it going on.
jojamful
Everything about them is elegant! Their presence, hair and 👗 dress! I think that they were before the Supremes, but I am not sure; if they were, they are a great way for Mrs Ballard and Co. to start their own careers- Barry Gordy's done it again!( with the help of Bill "Smokey" Robinson, who wrote the smart, catchy tune)...
Loving the organ playing.
Wow! Thanks alot for the extended mix. Great work to honor The original Great Marvelettes.
When I hear this I am transported back to sophomore year in high school and bopping to this song at a friend's house! Love your work with these classics!
You killed this remix!!!! I love it. Keep it up.
"Your" extended version is my favorite version.
Best of all the Motown girl groups. Marvelettes blew Supremes & Vandellas out of the water.
Ndeed!!!
The Marvelletes absolutely need to be in Rock n Roll Hall of Fame while Wanda, and Katherine are still alive to witness their hard work, and contributions to Motown Sound!!!! Please keep putting their name through. 🙏🏽
Motown music was the greatest music of our times, not to forget Atlantic, Brunswick, Stax, Chess, Checkers, and the other record labels that were with us before. Also, The Funk Brothers would deserve the credit for helping the fine music come alive.
These Girls were the BEST----and so is your stuff !!
How I love this song, such a classic!
Watching the original Murphy Brown this morning, this song came on and I just had to play it -one of my faves! 📢Don't Mess With Bill!
Great music came first and great voices tied it all together, wow really this works
Somethin' must have been messin' with my mind, 'cause I just noticed I never commented on this outstanding "extended version" before. Back in the day, my dad purchased a 2nd b&w television for the basement to keep peace between me and my four brothers. Friday evening in Canada often featured Hockey games on CBC and CTV broadcast "Hullaballoo." I saw this clip when it first aired and The Marvelettes blew me away. I loved The Supremes, but these women were never seen on TV and their soulful fire hit me like a ton of bricks. This song was the beginning of my love affair with them which this extended version has reignited. Thank you for this, somewhat belatedly!
Mark....thanks a lot! With over 400 videos up on my channel, I'm sure you are bound to miss one or 2....or 10! (*smile)
+mosogotam I subscribed after hearing ONE mix!!
they got screwed they had hits..barry never had these ladies on an album cover..the supremes, yes, these ladies,,no..i'm not happy
@@richm1862 that wasn't. Berry Gordy, that was racism!! The Miracles and The Temptations weren't on the their early covers so they could sell.
Rick, Canada and Ottawa, my home town at the time was a wasteland for Motown, Soul and Black music. Happily, I went out of my way to ferret out this uber cool music!
i enjoyed it
Thank you for your music 🎶 I 🙏🏽 May you rest in peacefully heaven Wanda Rogers
A group not too well known anymore, but wow these little angelic voices of Gladys Horton, Katherine Anderson, Georgeanna Tillman, and Wanda Young could probably make God smile. Some of their songs were written by some names you might know(Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson)
Please search for "The Hunter Gets Captured By The Game" also great by this group.
ALso, My Baby Must be a Musician, with Melvin Franklin of the Temps helping out at the beginning!
The best girl group ever came out of Motown
You probably hear this all the time, but you sure got a talent there. Thanks for the music.
+Andrew Joyce ....Andrew...thanks...It's always nice to hear!
And so classy not trashy unlike today 🙄
CHI- TOWN BOPPERS OF THE DAY..UNDERSTAND THIS KOOL CUT....JAMMMMMM RIGHT.

You deserve all the praise you get for recreating these gems. "Don't Mess With Bill" is also awesome!
Sam....I DO appreciate it...thanks!
My dad was called Bill at times , this was once of his songs ...rip daddy
These were some badd soulful sisters! The steps they are doing to this song is so nice.
wanda not to be played with gladys was my girl love you all raw talent
Walter Carpenter I saw Gladys Horton on tv three times and in-person performing two times. She sang this same song on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin Eve Show. Gladys was the keeper of the flame for the Marvelletes.
Not at all, looks capable of doing something dangerous to to someone.
Straight up grown folks music heal thyself
After The Supremes, I loved the Marvelettes and Martha & The Vandellas equally growing up. Each group had its own identity.
Such talented people!
love the marvaletts
Who?
Your. So Awesome! Tha ' long versions are more Gangsta! Keep it comming tha. Real ole' skool. Kat's
My FAVORITE girl group of all time....and the original lineup! LOVE this, John!
Ahhhh yeah!! My FAVORITE song by them and I play it at least once a week TO THIS DAY!! Man, I wish I had your extended version on CD in my car!!! Whew and Wow!! You knocked this one out of the park!! Go Wanda!!! Thank you so much for making my Veterans Day 2018 fun with the grandchildren!

Absolutely 💯!!! I Remember My Parents Dancing To This Song !!!!!!!! Thank You For Reminding Me!!
Unbelievably Great!!!
Thanks a lot, Derek!!!
Utterly beautifull and perfect
😻 The Marvelettes produced for Motown its very first number one record with Please Mr. Postman.
