Not surprising see it described in comments as a Marvin Gaye tune and a CCR tune. Both artists had a big hit with it. The song has quite a history- “‘I Heard It Through the Grapevine’ is a song written by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong for Motown Records in 1966. The first recording of the song to be released was produced by Whitfield for Gladys Knight & the Pips and released as a single in September 1967.”

This sucks. CCR covered this song amazingly 50 years ago and this sounds like a middle school band at a talent show.
