We've had our cats for years now and I know I'll have to say goodbye to them someday but they've become such a part of my daily life that I can't imagine life without them around. It's 1987. The phone in my house rings and my best friend Jason who lives across the street is calling me. It's Saturday morning. I answer and he asks "Can you play?"..."yeah!"...we spend all day riding our bikes, climbing trees, building forts, going into the woods, playing with toy guns and losing ourselves in our imaginations. All the kids in the neighborhood are out playing their own games, too. I live next to a grade school, during the Fall I like to open my window and listen to the kids play. In combination with the cold wind hitting my face, house chimes dinging, and leafs blowing it’s the most peace I feel. It makes me feel like a kid an again when I hear them play. Reminds me of when I used to play on the playground with so much energy and imagination. This video reminded me of that. Miss the old days.

I used to play this on my night shift. I was a team leader, with only me as a team on a neuro rehabilitation unit. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 It was a department that was used for the end of their rehabilitation, and had independent bungalows. After 10pm, a medication round I would be by myself in the office until 6am. Occasionally doing security rounds of the site making sure all is safe. Was great times, listening to Boards Of Canada, Aphex Twin, Greame Park and watching Crunchyroll. That ended in 2019, but was great while it lasted.

And when we're that low, it's impossible to tell ourselves it'll all be okay. But it will in the end, things get better, even if it's just for a week or two. That time can be extended, we can spend time with those we cherish and love; we can spend time doing things we enjoy. Push yourself to do things, to talk to people, and your brain will follow too. It might feel like a fruitless effort, but even if it takes time after time to enjoy it, it's worth it. The important thing is, life isn't linear. We aren't travelling down a single, prewritten path. It's ours to do what we want with. Right now, we might be at a low on that path, but in the future there will be something that changes that. If it takes some time? That's okay. Knowing things will get better often doesn't help me, but it's the truth. We aren't doomed to live our lives in sadness for the rest of our lives. It's cold, I can see the sunrise but never feel its warmth. I always felt like I couldn't cry, but I could choose laughing to avoid looking miserable. Reminds me of being at my Nan's house in the summer when I was young and all the people still seemed so tight knit you could go out and everyone seemed so joyful, has all the hope gone with my age? or have the times just changed... This reminds me of the first time I ever delved into this album, cleaning the interior windows of a large home on a golf course. An overcast day, easy on the eyes, nothing to do but steadily work, think, and lose myself in SAWII. It's something about the edge of the open window frame in the video, that contrast between the gently shaded, cozy interior in the bottom corner, and the beautiful, wistful day outside, with a perfect view of it all. It's enough to bring me to tears, wishing I could feel that feeling more often. It only visits me rarely, maybe a few times a year at the most. It's hard to hear music the way you did the first time, to take in the view without the drag of familiarity. I miss the newness of it. But I'm grateful I've gotten to have those moments, however scarce. Here's to fresh air.

Completely agree. I find his new music like Collapse as too sporadic and hard to follow. Though most of his fanbase will praise every piece of music he puts out no matter how it sounds. Not all of his songs are outstanding, but the ones that are... need no introduction.

Honestly, there was no idea. Just an open window, that album...and a feeling or urge to conserve that transcendent moment (initially just for myself, which is the most important part). This feels a lot like the Disintegration Loops. Just the fact that we're stuck in a moment, an area where time has no effect, an idea that is limited by our own minds. This feeling brings some kind of emotion and I don’t know if it’s calm, fear, sadness, hopelessness, or peace. I guess that’s the way how art works man, this is indescribably beautiful.
As someone else put it, it makes you feel like you're alone but everything is OK.

That ended in 2019, but was great while it lasted.

Navigating their way through things, just like you are. The world is a bigger place than you first thought. Your mind isn't focusing on that, though. It can't when you feel like this. Any slightest thing can set you into a downward spiral. That's okay. I don't blame you, or your mind. However you are feeling right now, it isn't your fault.

You blame yourself for all your shortcomings. But you fail to realize how important you are. No matter how many failures, no matter how many times you have fallen; you have always got back up. You haven't given up yet. You're still here. And god dammit, I'm proud of you. I'm proud because yet another person who can't see any positivity in their life - just like me - is still here. You haven't given up. You haven't given up. You won't give up. I don't need to know you to know you are a strong person. You have existed for so long. You have gone through so much pain. But you're still here. I am proud of you. We all are.
Every time you feel like this. Find some ambient music. Aphex Twin, Brian Eno, William Basinski. Stare out of the window, at the nights sky. You can cry. It's okay. You don't always have to have your mask on; you don't have to continue hiding your negative side, your negative thoughts and feelings. Just cry to the night. Tomorrow will be a new day. Tomorrow will be a chance to talk to someone about how you feel. There is no pressure to do it instantly. But you need to talk to someone before these thoughts take over. Just please hold on.
It might feel like it won't get better. Fuck, I've told myself this countless times. Negative thought loops fill your head with nothing but self hatred and anxiety. You just need to take a deep breath.

@@nitro5247 things can get rough, but we all still carry on. Our existence is worth a lot more than our minds think at times. And when we're that low, it's impossible to tell ourselves it'll all be okay.
But it will in the end, things get better, even if it's just for a week or two. That time can be extended, we can spend time with those we cherish and love; we can spend time doing things we enjoy. Push yourself to do things, to talk to people, and your brain will follow too. It might feel like a fruitless effort, but even if it takes time after time to enjoy it, it's worth it.
The important thing is, life isn't linear. We aren't travelling down a single, prewritten path. It's ours to do what we want with. Right now, we might be at a low on that path, but in the future there will be something that changes that.
If it takes some time? That's okay. Knowing things will get better often doesn't help me, but it's the truth. We aren't doomed to live our lives in sadness for the rest of our lives. Our minds might make us think that, but it's not true.
We just need to take some time to relax, think, and continue on. I've been suffering for so long, but I'm still here - you're still here, and we all are. Celebrate that fact, and be proud of how well you're doing.

this is very well done. in suburban Texas, this gentle anthem was unintentionally accompanied by leaf blowers, loud trucks whizzing past, and other neighborhood children practicing some school band instrument. But ambient works incorporated them all into a perfect calm.

It's cold, I can see the sunrise but never feel its warmth. I always felt like I couldn't cry, but I could choose laughing to avoid looking miserable. I couldn't experience life or show emotions truly or deeply because they were buried deep, and the more I dug, the more hurting and tiring it is to dig out the truths, emotions, fears, And this song makes me feel as if I had already echoed all of my cries, fears into an endless void and.... there was nothingness, the truth about life, its nothing without experiencing or making something from nothingness, being the byproduct, trying to live before reality catches and after it catches, you fast to realize that life expires and it does expire fast and somethings you can't go back from or to.
I denied being the byproduct of living, experiencing, trying I just became nothing to others fading into a timeless abyss, I can see my reality, that is one of the things that one's can’t go back from, then there was me after knowing.

I love how the songs make the pain and struggles of life understandable and forgivable, it gives me a moment of calm in the chaos of life.
You know a song is a timeless masterpiece when it has infinite replayability . I will never tire of listening to this.
Reminds me of being at my Nan's house in the summer when I was young and all the people still seemed so tight knit you could go out and everyone seemed so joyful, has all the hope gone with my age? or have the times just changed... I miss this feeling of time standing still never moving forward, back then it all seemed so tranquil and static but at the same time everyday felt like a new adventure full of learning, now that I'm older I no longer feel that. Time moves quickly and everyday is already yesterday, I hope that I can expirence it all again sometime, Thank for this, it's really made my day.

The RMS Carpathia of the Cunard line has arrived at the sight where the RMS Titanic was sinking. There was nothing left other than the 20 lifeboats of the massive liner and debris. Near the lifeboats sat nearly 400 dead bodys. The lifeboats head towards Carpathia as she stops. From the lifeboats, only 710 survivors are recovered. As they board, they are all crying, their faces white as snow. Women are wearing their husbands coats, children tucked away in blankets.
Few hours after the Carpathia took the survivors, the crew order all ahead full back to New York.
As they leave the sight of the wreck, many wonder, what truly happened that night...

This reminds me of the first time I ever delved into this album, cleaning the interior windows of a large home on a golf course. An overcast day, easy on the eyes, nothing to do but steadily work, think, and lose myself in SAWII.
It's something about the edge of the open window frame in the video, that contrast between the gently shaded, cozy interior in the bottom corner, and the beautiful, wistful day outside, with a perfect view of it all. It's enough to bring me to tears, wishing I could feel that feeling more often. It only visits me rarely, maybe a few times a year at the most. It's hard to hear music the way you did the first time, to take in the view without the drag of familiarity. I miss the newness of it. But I'm grateful I've gotten to have those moments, however scarce.

Honestly, there was no idea. Just an open window, that album...and a feeling or urge to conserve that transcendent moment (initially just for myself, which is the most important part). I'm thankful it worked. And I'm really happy that many of you are seemingly able to...grasp this particular canned mood.
