- I review a new OTF to the market that tries to compete with the Hawk Deadlock in one breath and the Benchmade Infidel in another.

I have an otf collection. I own every one you mention under 1k. The pentagon has been my daily driver for a year. I love it
I actually ended up selling mine. My daily driver changes because I constantly and am buying and selling to review stuff, but I would say the ones I keep going back to the most for daily carry are my Microtech UT and CT and my Hogue Counterstrike. The Pentagon’s build quality is definitely up there and if the profile fit my hand a bit better, I’m sure it would have been a keeper. It is an excellent knife.
@@TripleEEDC I have the Boker USA by Houge and i love it. For a tough as nails auto i go to my Buck110
Informative review on a brand I honestly wouldn't have even bothered w/ considering given their steep decline in quality over the years. Would be tempted by this one if I didn't already have a healthy OTF collection. That said, if I was a first time OTF buyer... the value proposition would be very compelling to go w/ the SOG.
Sog has been making some pretty good knives here lately with alot better quality and they don't have the sog brand printed in 30 slots all over the knife lol
Love SOG products.. First EDC was a SOG Flash II
I have a few otf knives and this is one I love it 1 year and no misfires it’s just a little heavy
Excellent review and nice to finally see some good SOGs!
Just casually pulls out a deadlock. 😮
I have two 👀
I have one of these. I bought it when they were introduced. It’s solid, albeit a little heavy.
Bad ass video I want to get the SOG don’t want to wait for the hawk plus price is big money 💰
Wow nice looking Edc Knifes!!
Great review, very thorough!
Thank you!
Hey brother I really enjoyed the video and you've got a awesome otf collection!
Thank you!
I like this guy🤨.. keep it coming’.. from TylerTx
Thanks! Houston here! 👊
I don't think you should refer to the ease of manipulation of the thumb slider as "spring weakness". A gt recon 035 requires probably 1/5th the effort to retract as an ultratech, but if you're going to make the case the spring is weaker, any claim in excess of about 20% would be laughable on its face. The ultratech fires a bit harder, but nowhere even close to 2x or 5x as hard.
There is lots of metal-on-metal grinding on most of these otfs when you use the thumb slider. This has as much, if not more, to do with actuation pressure as the spring does.
@@joesdickhardt1653 this isn't the right place to be leaving instructions for your wife while you're gone on vacation.
(Also, everything I said was on point. Although I'm sure it's hard to concentrate, thinking about all those "friends" your wife is having over every time you leave)
I’m 46 when I was a kid I remember gun guys saying SOG means
Speacial
Operations
Group
Yes? No? Lies? Folklore?
Truth-ish. It’s Special Observation Group
I bought one but it was so stiff it took both thumbs to retract it , had to send it back.
Iv seen a lot of people say that firing and retracting the blade dulls it. Some problem with the track, have you noticed that at all now that you have had some time with it?
no not at all. I have carried mine for a year now
I just sat down and watched your video while I opened my brand new Dirac Delta and I gotta tell you this thing here it does have a little. Bit of plague but it has no noise. I don't know why when I shake it when I flick. The blade when I do the handle this one here is like dead silent. No little noise is nothing twirk. I'm used to the other ones having all this little ding ding d***'s
You’re lucky. My Dirac delta was like a rattle.
Just got mine brand new has had several missfires so far
Sorry to hear that. I assume it’s a bad spring. I would either exchange it or send for warranty for a new spring.
Which of these knives do you like the most?
It depends on your goals for purchase. My favorite for action and fit and finish is the Hawk Deadlock Model C. It is also my favorite to own. My favorite to play around with but also do some carry with is the Combat Troodon. It’s probably my favorite overall as well. My favorite to carry and use is still the Ultratech.
the first batch of the pentagon otf seems to have bad spring tension as most of the earlier reviews tend to misfire. how's the firing in your pentagon otf?
Mine misfired I think once but other than that I am very impressed with it. It’s a huge step up for SOG and a great way to raise the bar at that price point.
Which one if the hawk isn't available
It's a shame they got bought out. The customer service was amazing for walk-ins lol. They'd rebuild your knife with all new shit and hand it back to you five minutes after you walked through the front door, free of charge
Ergonomics.. two blades which sole purpose is to make humans leak lol
Brother you NEED a mint holy shit 😭
?
I hope you sent the knife back. Because of the blade rubbing. Because over time. That will destroy the blade.
I ended up selling it a while back.
