    Why don’t they do the express stops and the regular stops. They have buses like this in Brooklyn. 🤷🏽‍♀️

      @@BlimpCityFeederYea you’re correct because JFK depot which Q10 course from don’t have enough articulated buses to be able to make it Select Bus Service, they already got Q52 SBS running on Woodhaven so the depot can’t handle much unlike Flatbush where it got plenty of buses to run express.

    Assemblyman R. David and his City Council counterparts better take heed. Disabled, elderly will mail in ballots over a lost bus stop. Bx33 had a bus stop restored when seniors on Morris Ave voiced concerns, for Sutphin Blvd to still lose out..speaks volumes.

    Back when we still had Queens Transit, Triboro Coach, Green Bus Lines, etc., the independents got all the shiite routes that wended around almost at random through local streets, while the MTA got all the straight-throughs that followed the main drags. After "consolidation", the routes were more or less kept intact, but now the MTA wants to just do all the straight-throughs and "streamline" the system. And then they'll pissnmoan about decreasing ridership when people who can, start driving instead of walking a mile just to get a bus or having to take multiple buses vs one.
    For context, look at the Q18, Q47, Q38, etc., and how those routes look.

    I have a feeling Northeast Queens will continue to be a transit desert, regardless of this ambitious "redesign" plan. If the MTA were truly serious about getting people to take mass transit, they might look at implementing bold changes, rather than merely reshuffling existing bus routes. At the very least, they should explore putting in a light-rail option (which they say will be too horribly expensive) on main thoroughfares like Northern Blvd or on a route linking Northern and Southern Queens.

    You can’t make everyone happy, the means of many outweighs the means of few.. people need to realize that the network is 80 years old and designed for a different era. Changes have to made. This is coming from a bus operator who has to drive the routes. Some of them don’t make sense when it should be more direct to save time. Traffic light priorities need to be quicker for bus lanes. We sit in traffic a lot..

    How exactly is it a “financial burden?”
    Bus-to-bus transfers are free on the MTA, so even if you have to take multiple buses, the fare you pay is still just $2.90 for the entire trip. Would it add time? Yes, and that’s a valid criticism, but I don’t see how it’s a “financial” burden. But if anyone else here has any insight into this, I’d love to hear it.

    • @tasniaislam3951
      @tasniaislam3951 4 месяца назад +10

      Well, if you're from South Queens, you would know that everyone lives there but NO ONE works there, so they all need to commute to the train station. Transfers are only allowed once per ride, so if she transfers to another bus from one bus, then she would have to pay the fare again at the train station.

    Absolutely disgraceful news report from CBS New York.
    This news report is irresponsible and nothing but inflammatory. Traffic engineers designed this. And switching buses is literally free, so I have no idea what that lady is crying about, maybe she doesn't know. I'm sorry if you have to now take one more bus than usual, but literally millions of New Yorkers do that every day, even on trains. Also, they are increasing the funding for the MTA buses. I'm one of the people that has to change my daily route, and it's supposed to be better and more convenient. (And it looks that way) But I won't know that until they actually show up with more buses on time and less crowds in the bus. Which was the intent of these changes, and for some reason that isn't mentioned once in this "news" report.
    The current system is terrible. You have to take one bus for several hours to drive through a route you do not care about, and it's really unnecessary. Why would you want to drive through a neighborhood that is completely out of the way of where you were going? The previous bus stops were designed for convenience, not efficiency. This is going to be better for everyone.

    • @Atrail_Mckinley4786
      @Atrail_Mckinley4786 4 месяца назад +1

      The issue is that more people will have to transfer to a different bus which will just add to commute times. This will not make people want to take the bus and may resort people to drive instead
