This is the problem with the current system (little has changed in that time, as far as social attitudes are concerned), any efforts towards full rehabilitation are often hampered by long-held prejudices from employers, the welfare system and the general public who have been conditioned to treat ex-cons as "other", no matter how much they may have changed after their original offence was committed (or the nature of that offence). How are they supposed to change their lives and stay out of trouble if nobody will give them a fair shot to prove themselves?

I don't remember that black female guard behind Vera- when Marilyn was being released... I don't recall too many black cast members throughout my Prisoner's run.
